The owners are two of the kindest, considerate, and hard-working people you will come to know. The level of care they put into their food, is the same as the level of care they give to first-time or returning diners. Our family has been coming here or ordering takeout for nearly 20 years! We recommend the volcano roll, chicken teriyaki, 18 piece sushi platter or the red thai curry, but you can't go wrong with anything on the menu.

Sushi was stale and dry. Ordered a tom yam soup- asked specifically if they use any broths. They said only tomato shrimp and mushrooms but I smelled some meat after getting it. When I asked what the broth is- they said chicken broth which I don't eat. Never going again

$85 for small rolls and taste like pre-made, the wasbi was even dry and crumbly and the ginger look like small blankets of dryers sheets. The two stars is just the graded curve! If there was a way to get my money back I would be the 1st in line ,yet I don't that will happen... about to.go eat fried chicken wings and fries to balance out my taste buds and then some

The service can sometimes be slow and they appear to be skimping on the electric bill to maybe save money? Last time we were in the AC was off and just a box fan was blowing very humid stuffy air around. It doesn't create a welcoming environment.

Excellent food! The sweet potato roll was to die for and the miso soup was excellent!

We ordered from Mayflower last night, got home and were missing a Shrimp Tempura roll. Never had this happen before, they were really nice about it on the phone, said they had to speak to the manager and would call me back. Two minutes later, asked for my address and sent a driver with the missed item. I wasn’t expecting that, a refund would have sufficed, but they went out of their way to make the error right. I did not want to have to return back to the restaurant at 7:45pm. The food was very good, first time getting the Kirin and it was fantastic! We ordered the 3 Roll Special, Special B (which had the Kirin roll and 3 others), Green and Garden Rolls, Shrimp Tempura roll and a salad. Fresh sushi and rolls, great prices, and I noticed they keep your order in the small refrigerator until you arrive!

I'm changing my rating from five stars, to one. I have been coming to this place for ten years. I have always loved their food and their prices, and especially their customer service. Sadly, the last THREE TIMES I have placed orders for pickup, they have literally forgotten about me completely. The first time I waited for three hours. The second time I waited, again. Today, I had placed an order to be ready after work. A large order, confirmed to be ready for pick up at 8pm. I am now sitting in my car, waiting for them to prepare my food because when I went inside they had forgotten about me AGAIN. I can understand that mistakes happen. The first time, sure. The second, still ok but annoying. But three times in a row?! I'll never order here again. They never offered any coupons, discounts or anything that would make this slightly acceptable. Don't waste your time or money.

I ordered from this restaurant a few times an the food is very good. But this last time I ordered from door dash and had to call three times to figure out we’re my order was. The customer service I received was horrible all then want to do is rush you off the phone so they don’t have to talk to you. This restaurant should reconsider taking door dash order when they get busy in the restaurant.

I’ve been coming to mayflower since they were just a small un renovated take out joint. It’s the same people since 10+ years ago. They are nice and the food is good. The quality and the portion of the chicken hibachi has significantly declined, but they do have some really good deals on sushi. I usually get the 3 roll special.

Not the best sushi I’ve had. It was just okay. I has the spicy tuna, spicy salmon, sweet potato roll and the vegetable tempura. The fish in the sushi was really big instead of being diced. If ordering take out I would not follow the doordash app that tells you when the food is ready. Mine was incorrect and several others complained of the same with ordering take out.

They are making excellent rolls. Sushi special C is probably one of the best deal in terms price/quality. Banzai roll and Dragon roll are among the tastiest there IMO. Miso soup was also good. The place looks like family owned business.

The food here has never been an issue for me it's always more then fine. The wait times definitely need work. I placed an order online at 630p, got there at around 7:15 and was still standing in the lobby at 7:45 before they handed me my food

Online orders through the Snackpass app are very easy, the location is on my way home from work and I love the Miso soup and salad with ginger dressing. The staff are very friendly and always say thank you to customer.

I often order takeout from Mayflower, and I’m always impressed! They haven’t gotten an order wrong once, and the quality of the food is superb. I’ve tried the majority of the menu and everything is great. I can tell there is a lot of care that is put into the food and service. Dining in person is also a great experience, but they are closed for dine-in right now I think. I highly recommend Mayflower! ☺️

First time getting takeout here. I ordered the platter #1 and it was beautifully presented and delicious.

It you order ahead usually they won't start making your food until after you arrive for pickup because they don't want to leave out your food with some warm and some raw

Ugh. Mayflower can be extremely frustrating. I have been eating at Mayflower for nearly 10 years now. The food is cheap and good, but their carryout service has really frustrated me recently the point that I hardly want to order from here. When ordering food for multiple people, we rarely receive sufficient utensils and soy sauce for our order. Additionally, every time I order for carryout, it seems that they never start to prepare the food until AFTER I arrive to pick it up. I consistently have to wait for the food to be made no matter how long after I place my order. If you are eating in, the experience is usually great. But taking out is something that I am extremely hesitant to do at this point.

The only place I will get my Tuna Rolls from! My husband used to work for Eatstreet and had me try this place once and lets just say I am a repeat customer!

Very expensive for standard to go Asian cuisine. Sushi is just ok. Be prepared to spend more than $10 for lunch, which is kind of past what I'm willing to spend for lunch.

Sushi is very fresh and presented nicely. This is the only place I've been to that makes a Sweet Potato Roll, and it's a great vegetarian option! I also recommend the signature Mayflower Roll. Very delicious!

Mayflower Japanese Restaurant is my go-to for sushi and sashimi, locally. Frankly, if they're closed, I just don't bother getting sushi. Why bother, when you know anyone else will be second-best? This is not a fancy place, but it is clean, spacious, and the sushi is made fresh. To be fair, there are other dishes, including Thai, but the focus is on a fairly limited selection of mostly Japanese, mostly sushi, dishes. Why mess with success? Their narrow focus means excellent food, and who doesn't love that?

Recently re-done interior is beautiful. Great food for a good price.

A good family run Japanese restaurant on Main street Newark, Delaware. Typically order their lunch take out and it has never been a miss. Very friendly staff. And Yes, Very Good Shushi.

I know the words cheap and sushi normally don't pair together but this place is the best of both worlds. Me and my Girlfriend have been going here since it opened a few years ago.

Fantastic sushi for $5 a roll solid taste quick service i went with my tried and true combo of spicy tuna, spicy salmon, and the irresistible eel roll.....and i cant complain..... Well there isnt any fountain sodas but the guy brought me a cup of ice for my bottle of sprite that they had for $2 (bring your own drink or order water) but hey it was a decision that was made on a whim and im glad i followed through i enjoyed my experience at the Mayflower.....keep up the great work guys....

Nice little Japanese restaurant tucked in the back of Newark Shopping Center. They recently remodeled so the inside has more seating and a better vibe. The food is good, especially for the price. Not the best sushi, but pretty good. I like to get the Combos but they have a large menu with a bunch of traditional Japanese dishes as well.

Yes, the service is not fast, and it's not meant to be, it's not McDonald's, it's food prepared at the moment. Now that that's out of the way, the food itself is very good, portions are adequate for this kind of restaurant and the price is fair, you'll get less food for the same amount you would spend at let's say Denny's but the quality is SO good. Best japanese food in Main Street.

The food is delicious, fresh, and inexpensive... But the service is SOOOOOOOO slow. Even if you are the only table there, you're waiting anywhere between 15-30 minutes depending on what you order. If you're taking out, same thing. If you're calling in an order, my experience is they don't start to prepare certain items you order until you get there. It's very frustrating! The staff has always been very courteous and friendly, too, but speed is and has always been the downside of ordering here for both dine in and take out.

The Ginger Beef was immaculate -- the thinnest-sliced beef I've ever had, which melted in your mouth with savory ginger stir fry goodness, balanced with the curnchiness of accompanying onion and bell pepper. And cheap, too!

I've loved this place since it was a small, primarily take-out place when it opened. It's recently expanded and upgraded their dining area and it's wonderful! You would hardly believe its the same place. Great sushi, great value!

Some food items are good, some are bad.. Ask for the Japanese menu card along with the English menu card.. that'll give you better variety and authenticity.. Soups can be a bit salty though..

The food does not taste fresh at all

The sushi here is good when they actually fill the rolls with fish or whatever is in it. It is mostly rice and a small tad bit of fish. Paid for this food yet barely any of the good stuff. Hope it was just this roll and they are always skimpy. This was on the spicy tuna roll.

The best sushi in Newark. Delivery usually takes at least an hour so plan accordingly. Other menu items are also very good.

Out of all the places I have been it in DE this is my favorite. The food is well priced and pretty close to home cooked for some dishes in my book.

Probably the best place for sushi in the Newark area, but if you order delivery don't count on your food getting to you in under an hour, no matter what day of the week or what time it is. GrubHub always greatly over estimates the delivery time for most places in order to avoid customer complaints, but I swear Mayflower PLANS on delivering your food in accordance with GrubHub's 60 to 75 minute estimated wait time for delivery. And that is just plain annoying.

this place is hands down my favorite food joint in town, however I must warn you never order from here past 9:30 at night. They seem to get lazy and just completely slack on the quality of the food, half the time if you do it will be under-cooked, have no sauce, and just plain unedible. On the upside any other time of day its just freaking delicious and worthy of two meals from them a day. Still the best Newark has to offer, just don't fall victim to the late night short comings

For the price you can't beat the sushi.
