Delicious place where we had a great dinner. A beautiful view where you can hear the sound of tranquility. A little bit expensive, but great quality.

Love this little lobster shack. The atmosphere couldn’t be more suited for a Maine lobster shack and the food is just as good.

One of my favorite places to get a lobster roll. As a born and raised Mainer, this is the place I send the people who can appreciate an authentic lobster experience and don’t mind an adventure to get there. Delicious lobster, directly on the water, near an active dock area. It is a magical place. Recently I’ve had to adopt a gluten free lifestyle, and though I am so grateful for the chance to have a gluten free option, I’ll probably stick to just the lobster and skip the roll. Felt the flavor of the gluten free bun overpowered the delicate flavor of the lobster. I ended up just eating the lobster out of the roll. Still a great experience! 10/10 would recommend.

Watching the lobsters get unloaded from the boat while you’re eating makes the price of a lobster roll feel much better…not to mention it might be the best roll in Midcoast Maine. Highly recommend the blueberry float to top it off as well!

A fabulous place to come for a lobster roll. Everyone here was so kind, the lobster is FRESH. And the butter that goes on it, is just... perfection.

You can't miss it among the places that you absolutely have to visit. And go hungry, because each lobster roll has almost a pound and a half of lobster.

The crab roll was absolutely delicious. The lobster roll was fresh and had really great flavor but the meat was a bit tough and chewy. The staff was friendly and the view was beautiful.

The best seafood, so fresh. We sampled a crab roll, lobster roll, clam chowder, and crab cakes all so delicious. Mcloons was suggested to us from a local, and it was the best seafood I had in Maine. However, the sea salt brownie was by far the best brownie I have ever had. We went to Mcloons twice while we were in Maine and brought home a dozen of the brownies so we could enjoy them with our family.

The Lobster Rolls are da bomb with an amazing view. Outdoor tables only but most come with umbrella/shade. Adequate free parking but may be packed during peak hour.

Amazing little spot. Beautiful setting, top notch lobster roll, and a little stand with blueberry pies there as well. Line went quick and was definitely worth it. Husband got the Connecticut lobster roll, I tired the Crab roll. The Connecticut roll was the winner in our opinions. Love the kettle chips with it.

it was perfect, if you’re picturing a lobster shack in your mind then this is what it’ll look like, the food was amazing the atmosphere was brilliant the staff were friendly warm and welcoming, if you’re in the area and in the mood for a beautiful drive and an amazing maine lobster roll, this is the place to go

This is the only lobster location you need to go to. Lobster was fresh and delicious. Even the burger was on point. Blueberry pie was the best we had in Maine.

As a Maniac I never understand why someone would buy a lobster roll. For the cost of a single lobster roll I can buy enough lobsters to make 10 or more. That said it, for our local economy and businesses, it seems plenty of people are willing to shell out the money. McLoons makes a great one served by a cheerful staff with a wonderful view of a working harbor and lobster wharf. It's a perfect Maine experience for those from away. And you may find me there on occasion, when I don't want to cook, with our friends and relatives from away in tow.

Great lobsta roll on the coast. Served w/ chips & pickle. Afterwards we succumbed to the huge whoopie pie which was a delight.

The lobster rolls are excellent and you simply can’t beat the atmosphere here on a working harbor. Great views, great food, and a good time await for those who make the quick trip over.

Splendid view and excellent food. Lobsters are brought by the fishing boats across the restaurant. Cannot be more fresh and authentic. Superb desserts too. The blueberry bread pudding is a killer!

My favorite lobster shack in Maine. They’re efficient (NOT an attribute universal to lobster shacks), well staffed (ditto) and very friendly (also ditto). The lobsters/lobster rolls are excellent, as are the views and the general vibe of the working lobstering village of Spruce Head. The separate ice cream shack is a nice addition.

Great food and atmosphere. When you think of Maine you think of places like this.

We went out of our way to drive here and it didn’t disappointed - beautiful meaty lobster with a gorgeous view. The atmosphere is really the winner here - can’t think of a better place for a lobster shack. We went around 5pm and it was magical. They were sold out of blueberry pie which was sad! Get there earlier if you’re interested in that.

Perfect setting over the water. Went for dinner while on vacation. Crab cakes and lobster roll both delicious. If you love blueberry, you have to order blueberry soda and then blueberry bread pudding for dessert.

This is not just a Shack. It is an ocean front area. We arrived an hour and half early and watched staff getting the place ready. They kept tables, grounds, and surroundings clean. Ocean view was beautiful, and lobster rolls wasted great. Their blueberry pudding was not that good. Since we came mainly for lobsters, this review was on lobster rolls only.

Perfect lobster roll and quintessential atmosphere. This is the real deal!

First time visiting McLoons (after many years of wanting to) and we were NOT disappointed. A quaint, unassuming shack with fresh (the boats dock right out front and unload the lobsters baskets to a pulley system which goes straight up to the shack) seafood and more! In addition to the seafood, they also had other things - like cheeseburgers, which our son ordered and I had a bite of and it too was amazing! Beautiful views of Burnt Island, the harbor, and the open ocean. The woman who took our order was helpful and friendly. Our toddler enjoyed watching the fisherman unloading the boats. They have a separate ice cream shack on site and the ice cream was great! We will be back again!

Food was great! More tables are needed to accommodate the crowd.

We live in Maryland and I had ordered McLoons lobster from Goldbelly previously. While in Maine for vacation, we made a special trip to visit in person. What a special surprise! Mcloons did not disappoint! Great setting, fantastic lobster rolls, and great whoopie pies!

Idk, this might be my favorite lobster roll of the week. I do wish it were a little larger but other than that, it was pretty heavenly! Such a beautiful setting too.

This place was beautiful! Had the lobster roll, and it did not disappoint! Also, the blueberry bread pudding is great!

The food was as good as the view! We got the clams and the rolls-Royce lobster rolls. We also ended up getting a clam chowder and a crab roll for the road (not pictured). Got to see the fresh lobsters hoisted over the railing and taken to be cooked. You really can’t get fresher than that! Well worth the drive even if it’s off the beaten path even on a rainy cold day like we had.

Lovely detour on the drive up to Acadia. My mother in law orders from them on goldbelly and the rolls in person did not disappoint.

We got here just before 7 and we were so glad they were still taking orders! The lobster roll was worth every penny. The toasted bread was spot on and the views were spectacular. We also tried the blueberry bread pudding - delicious!

Best lobster roll ever. Fresh caught and off the boat that morning. Good portion at a reasonable price. Picnic style outdoor eating. Overlooking the bay with moored lobster boats. Cannot get much better than this.

This is what you call farm to table!!! Super fresh lobster. Loved it. Eating delicious, buttery lobster rolls by the Atlantic Ocean is one of the best things in life.

I love lobster. I really, really love lobster. Maine is awash in lobster rolls. Some are good. Some are very good. Some are great. The lobster roll here is top notch. Pure unadulterated lobster on a nice buttery toasted bun. You can get butter or mayo or both, and it comes with chips and a very nice cole slaw. And even better, they take credit cards. This is on Spruce Head. On a weekend, you will have a wait, but it is worth it. They do a nice clam chowder and the grilled clams are very fresh and nice. They have plenty of other options for your non-seafood eater. You can get Maine Root blueberry, ginger, or root beer. Simply, yum!!

Such a great lobster shack experience. The lobster roll and chowder were superb. The charm of the eating seaside was spot on here. Would highly recommend to anyone visiting the area.

This is a great spot to have Top Notch Lobster. If you're looking for a white gloves, white tablecloth restaurant, this ain't the place. If you're looking for fantastic lobster, THIS IS IT.

I’ve never had a lobster roll where there was nothing but lobster and bread and butter. Possibly the best lobster shack in the world. Including the atmosphere and seeing the lobster men, bring their catch in while you eat the catch.

The light fresh breeze peppered our lunch experience with welcome relief from the heat and sun. Sharon had the gluten free bun lobster roll and I had the regular lobster roll. The lobster in the rolls were generous portions. Chilled for an appropriate time after being steamed and picked these rolls were amazing and accompanied with a side of our choice and a small bag of chips. We each enjoyed a scoop of Black Raspberry for desert. I absolutely love this place!

Right on the water. Had the lobster roll with butter which was delicious. Others had boiled lobster which was perfectly done. The atmosphere is what makes this place special. The whoopie pie was one of the best I’ve had in a long time. Also ice cream (Gifford) was served out of a separate shack.

A bucket list stop for us after stumbling across this picturesque location 2 years ago. The restaurant did not disappoint, and the lobster roll was perfect along with the clam dip. Unfortunately, they were out of my favorite crabmeat. Counter service was friendly and genuine. We bought a whoopie pie for later, and it was possibly the best whoopie pie we have ever had. By all means, do try this local legend and arrive maybe at the start of service with limited parking.

Great food—the lobster in the roll had a slight chill, and it was amazing!!! I’m sure the view is beautiful, but because of the fog we couldn’t see any of the water. Will definitely be coming back when in the area!!

Went the day after July 4 and it was very busy but worth the wait. Great atmosphere, very clean, nice people. Lobster roll was delicious and the coleslaw lovers in the group raved about it.

Very cool scenery. Unfortunately wasnt a huge fan of the lobster roll. The chunks of lobster used are fresh but they need to be cut into smaller pieces before serving. You take a bite out of the roll and half the meat comes out at once

Perfect Maine lobster experience.

Really good lobster rolls at a reasonable price (but it's still lobster, so not inexpensive). While there is plenty of parking, the place is really busy during the tourist season, so be patient with that. It's a really pleasant atmosphere there on the water, overlooking the boats. All dining is outside with various seating arrangements. While I was a tourist, my understanding is that the locals come here as well, so that's probably a good sign. We'd definitely go back if in the area again.

Amazing place, off the beaten track. It was recommended to us, otherwise we would never have found it. Great lobster, which are kept live in the sea and taken out of the cage as needed. Would highly recommend. Only one down side is they don't serve alcohol.

Very lovely place, it's nice to eat outside. The lobster meat is very fresh and excellent, although the portion isn't large. Unfortunately, there are very few accompaniments with the lobster roll (you get a mini bag of chips, a small portion of coleslaw, half a pickle and butter). Otherwise, it's worth a detour!

This is my favorite spot to have a meal! I fell in love with this place 3 years ago during a vacation to Maine. We just drove 19 hours to go back after 3 years. Yes we did other things but McLoons was the main goal of this vacation.

Perfect lobsters. Naturally sweet and salty, and incredibly fresh! Definitely get the whole steamed lobster, not just the lobster roll!

So many thumbs up! The food was soooo good, and reasonably priced. And it was so beautiful and iconic being on the bay with lobster boats sitting there. Definitely helped that it happened to be a sunny day!

Beautiful location. Fantastic service. Prices to be expected. Not a fan of the cold lobster with hot butter. The butter congealed and that's just not my jam. Hot butter + hot roll should have warm lobster meat...

When we arrived in Maine, we knew there would be a plethora of restaurants and shacks serving lobster rolls, and unsure who had the best. Our Camden host told us we HAD to go to McLoons, and I’m so glad we drove the 30 mins to this place. My lobster roll was full of tender meat on a toasted buttery bun and served with chips, pickle, and slaw. I also loved the grilled clams. We watched a worker walk over to the dock to check on her lobster crate, if that tells you how fresh the food is! They also sell hotdogs for the picky eaters. There were plenty of picnic tables near heaters, and they sell hoodies if you get chilly. Bonus points for a hand washing station to rinse off your buttery hands.

We did a lobster roll tour when we drove up and down the coast of Maine. We caught McLoons on their first day of opening for the season and it was our favorite lobster roll in the whole trip. The drive to McLoons was great and the view from the picnic area is top notch. It is now all I think about when I try to describe the perfect lobster roll in Maine.

This was on of the best lobster meals we have ever had! The lobster was just incredibly fresh, so sweet and tender and the atmosphere out in the middle of nowhere on the water makes it quite a special Maine experience! We were taken to this restaurant by some friends who are locals so we would likely not have ever come across this place without them bringing us. It is quite a little gem in Maine and definitely worth a visit! The only suggestion I would make is I wish they had some better sides other than potato chips and coleslaw but the lobster is the main attraction, that's for sure!

Great spot to get a lobster roll on the coast!

We were at McCloons for a lobster roll, on a recommendation of a local. We were visiting from Vermont, where fresh lobster isn’t easy to come by. McCloons did not disappoint. We had a lobster rolls Royce, which came with chips, as well as the lobster stew. The stew was great…. The lobster roll was fantastic. Not over cooked, roll was crisp and buttery. A wonderful, tender treat. We finished it off with a whoopie pie. Nothing better. If you have a chance to visit, I would certainly recommend McCloons!

Made a day trip for lunch. It was well worth it. Fog and mist so a bit chilly, but the heaters in the awning helped. Lobster roll is smaller than you will find elsewhere, but it is indeed fresh and tasty. You order at the counter then wait for your food. Can't go wrong here. Pricey but comparable to other seafood shacks in the area.
