We come here about once a month. The food is always fresh and delicious. My wife had a cold salad with fried tofu - very filling. I had the massaman curry with pork -- also filling. Sometimes we order several appetizers and soup for greater variety. It's all good. 8/1/2024: I had Vietnamese egg rolls and honey chicken; my wife had vegetable egg rolls and dry bume with tofu. All were excellent. The atmosphere had lovely background music BUT the door from the kitchen to the dining room has no compression cylinder so it slams shut loud and hard each time. After 10 times it is very annoying; after 40-50, I just wanted to leave.

I've been coming here for 4+ years and have tried almost everything on the menu. Every single thing they serve is delicious, and the staff is amazing. Can't wait to go back!

Food is mediocre at best, inside of the restaurant is dated and service is terrible. I’ve been here a few times to try and give it a shot. When they decide to actually open the restaurant, the quality of the products produced scream to the world they don’t want to be there. No idea how this place is so highly rated.

I loved their lemongrass soup. I originally tried it in Chicago and it did not disappoint. Their Vietnamese spring rolls were delicious too. So grateful to have this option when i get tired of the same old food in town.

Mekong Cafe is a great place to go for good food. We have tried several different dishes and have always had great food. We always get the pork fried rice as it is the best. Most times we have enough food for leftovers the next day but sometimes we just can't stop and eat it all.

I love their fried rices. I get the pineapple fried rice with chicken and veggies. They have the best crab ragoon I've ever had. Be careful if you can't handle spicy food. Sometimes their medium is more like a medium plus.

Never disappointed. I order take-out but when I go to pick up, it is busy and people seem content. Staff are courteous but my food have always met my expectations. Gotta change my rating. I asked for green onions and only got regular onions and now I am disappointed.

Family run thai/location diner. Service makes you feel like you're family too. Excellent food in unassuming location. I'm a local and it is part of my regular rotation.

First time visiting and unfortunately I have a cold so I stopped by to grab some Pho. The servers were very friendly, willing to help, and polite. However, the Pho I ordered doesn’t get the same rating as the servers. For nearly $20 there is only one selection of Pho. The noddles wasn’t the typical Pho noodles and the taste was a bit flat. Really disappointed because I love Pho, especially when I am not feeling the best.

No way to order online and they never answer their phone!

Love to get carry out from Mekong Cafe! The Laotian Curry Beef Noodles are my favorite yet everything here is very good. It’s a family owned restaurant with many years of experience.

Nice atmosphere, clean and friendly. Service was great. Food came out fast. Price was reasonable considering today's prices.

The meals are made to order. It is always hot and fresh, and you choose your spice level. The dining area is a little crowded, so order take out if that is a drawback. (It is for me). My favorites are Thai Eggrolls and any Pad Thai.

Locally owned and the food is always prepared fresh to your order. Since it is family run and owned sometimes it takes them a bit to answer the phone for a carry out. Worth the effort!

This is a great place and I might have rated it a little lower but I understand they're short-staffed like everybody. The food is really good in one of the best two places in town for me to get my favorite chili paste and my baby Mara loves the asparagus beef and I will always do pretty much anything I can for her cuz I love her completely and forever just like she asked me to promise.

This spot is good, just ranch dressing was missing. And, although friendly in service, the waiter was not able to count prices correctly together .... Food has a larger variety, not the highest authentic Asian quality, but certainly very good food for American standards. Recommended for lovers of Vietnamese and Thai food. Watch out for correct parking spot next to restaurant (in order to avoid to be towed away). Open on the weekend, which is unusual for Springfield city (IL)! Whole family enjoyed the dinner.

Wonderful family owned business. Our waitress was upfront and honest with the dishes I had questions about. This was our first time here and we really enjoyed it. If you want it spicy, make sure you ask. Everyone's spice level is different. I special ordered the chicken Larb.

Absolutely my favorite place to eat in Springfield. Crab rangoons here are the best I have ever had and the sauce they serve it with is better than what’s normally given with crab rangoons. Their chicken satay is also an amazing starter and it comes with the same delicious sauce served with the rangoons. For entrees i highly recommend the Mekong Beef or the Honey Chicken, all come with customizable heat levels. Every time i eat here I want to cry as I eat because the food is just that good.

So we ate the appetizers, Crab Rangoon, and Thai egg rolls, which come out hot and fresh every time and delicious. Wifey had the chicken fried rice with extra egg, I had the Spicy Thai Chicken add sprouts, I love them, medium plus heat. Sweet and Caliente, you can choose your heat level, but be careful. They can make it so hot you'll be drippin' sweat. The owner is in the dining room, and he is very nice and curious. I made a mistake ordering the wrong kind of roll and happily replaced them with what I actually wanted. No problem, great customer service keeps us going back. Thank you, Mekong.

I have tried every Thai restaurant in Springfield and Chatham. Mekong is hands down the best. Their pad thai, pad se ew, and green curry can be made vegan, and their vegetable egg rolls are vegan and very good. Their tofu is very good. They give you spice level options. The medium spice level is perfect for me. Vin, who runs the kitchen, is always very sweet.

Mekong fried rice and Singapore noodles are the best. Never disappointed with the taste of their food. Prices are very reasonable compared to other restaurants which offers similar menu. Highly recommend trying their food.

As soon as we walked in the aromas told us we had to stay, even though there was a (brief) wait. The place was packed but the two servers and the kitchen kept everything moving. The food was excellent and we both are more than we had planned to because it was so compelling. Very helpful with gluten-free needs. Yum!

I thought it was Chinese, and when I realized that it wasn’t Chinese I was very disappointed. My children Nathan was one of them got a cheese burger. Just a regular cheese burger, and we asked them before hand if they had peanuts anywhere near their food and they said no. But when he got his cheeseburger his face started blowing up. Luckily we had Epinephrine to let him down. It is fair to say I will never be attending again.

My favorite place to eat in Springfield, to-date. Seriously, I think I’ve ordered 50% of my meals from here when traveling over the past month. The food is cooked to order and everything I’ve tried has been fresh and flavorful. I especially love the curry salad with tangy sauce, and appreciate the initiative staff take to offer the option of various levels of spiciness with each order. A gem in Springfield.

I would leave zero star if I could. I ordered crazy noodle with beef for lunch. The food was mediocre, salty and too much soy sauce. I was over charged $14.26 for just the noodles and $3.57 extra for beef. The price in the menu is $12.75. Surely, this was one of the worst experience.

Mekong Beef: way too heavy on the onions; way too low on the beef.

Called in order for pick up at 11:28 am to be ready by noon. Got there at 12:02 and had to wait in line. Then it wasn't up yet. Food finally was up and I asked for red sauce for the crab Rangoon. She shortly said they dont use it they use peanut sauce. Had to ask if it was in the bag. Food was excellent but service was a little lacking as the lady was short and bothered and they weren't even that busy yet. But I would go back. Hopefully they see this and could correct the issue.

My most favorite is pad thai shrimp. But I think everything is overpriced. Shrimp pad thai is $17.29. The most expensive for me is Vietnamese spring rolls $7.30

Such a nice food with excellent service, the waitress she treat you like you are her family and about the food i never expect it will be such a good and delicious i finish all my fry rice. If i visit again to Springfield this will be my favorite spot thank you for you kind service 😀

Had been there about 4 times the last time there was a very rude girls sitting in behind me I'm 65 almost 66 and have a broken neck she just kept bouncing her 250 pound body off from the back of the booth which was like me taking another hit in the car the police didn't act like it was that much of a thing or we would have had her arrested but here is her pitcher

Family owned and operated neighborhood asian diner. Grandchildren helping out. Laotian but origin but broad menu choices. The food is good. The prices are medium, but worth it.

THE BEST! We miss Asian cuisine and this one did not disappoint. Food was savory and reasonably priced. You only see 2 people upfront yet the service was fast. You could tell that a lot of people love this resto coz they do get a lot of orders. Padthai medium spiced was spot on! 😁

This is a destination establishment, we travel an hour just to eat here. Best fried rice outside of Southeast Asia. The Crab Rangoon alone will keep you coming back. Family owned. Good people. Here 12 July 2022 for lunch. Had Crab Rangoon (The Gold Standard) yum. Mekong Fried Rice with chicken, mild+, with extra veggies added. Traveled 45 miles from Decatur. This is the second time in the last two weeks I've been here. It's just that good. P.S. Spoke to the owner, his wife, and daughter during my lunch. It's much more than just a meal.

I dream about the Pad Thai here. I haven't found a place that does it as well as they do!

Ordered a crazy noodle with beef for lunch which one of the worst ever. First of all, the noodle cost over $14, and beef is not included. $3 extra for the beef. So total is almost $18. In addition, too much soy sauce made the dish so salty and had to drink water at the same time for every bite. Not recommend to anyone and will not return.

My sister and I have been wanting to try Mekong for ages. We finally did the other night and we will be back. We got the Thai eggrolls and Crab Rangoon. I LOVED the thin wrapping. I always feel like I get full at other places when they use the thick wonton wrappers. Plus you get to taste the ingredients instead of just the wrapper. Go ahead and be adventurous on the spices. We went mild and we honestly probably could try the hot and be ok. The staff was nice. The place is clean. The food was delicious. Come and visit this local Thai food delight.

This is the best food in Springfield. They have the best crab rangoon and wonderful dishes such as the Singapore noodle and fried rice. I have been going to this restaurant for years and their service has has only gotten better and better. If I could leave a more honest review, I would give a 10 out of 5 stars, I love Mekong Cafe!

A friend at work decided to. Is it the Mekong restaurant for takeout food for approximately five orders, looked at a online menu for pricing and selection. Made a selection of Mekong beef with two egg rolls. The taste and quality of food was good, but the lunch bill was $21.39 for one person

My family has loved this place for years. The salads are amazing and we ask for them on the spicy side. Don't miss it if you are in Springfield.

Mekong Cafe is amazing judging by my first visit. The Laotian Curry Noodle is something truly unique I've previously never tried. It's different from Vietnamese or Thai curry. I ordered mine with tofu and was very pleased with it. Easily some of the best food I've eaten in a long time. If I lived in Springfield, I'd be a frequent customer here.

Best food you can get in Springfield !

Good. Tried green curry with coconut milk. Asked for white rice but got fried rice but waitress fixed it quickly. Also got spring rolls. I've had better Thai food but this was very good. My only negative is the waitress was so busy chit-chatting with people, I was forced to interrupt her every time I needed something.

Pad Thai, Pad Thai, Pad Thai. I absolutely love their Pad Thai. They are extremely welcoming and friendly. That is a nice change from other restaurants these days.
