The Pho was spectacular and they can make it vegan as well. Great food, great service, fair price.

If this place goes under it is Greenville's fault and loss. They don't have a great location or physical spot, but the food is authentic (and few people understand how neat that itself is) and delicious. A rare gem hidden amongst a constant tide of similar "Why Bother."

We do hope they open back up! My whole family groaned with sadness for the family and that they have closed. Best wishes for one of our favorite restaurants, and their family and employees! Totally a mom and pops place with great comfort food!

This place is the best. We love it and we love all the staff. We’ve been coming here for years and always enjoy the food and atmosphere.

Quite literally grew up going here, it's honestly a pain to go to other places after growing up on Mekong, makes other places seem never quite as fulfilling. Prices and portions are perfect. There's even stray cats at the very back of the lot, which is always fun to see.

Unfortunately the food has become below substandard

Traveled from Asheville Saturday, March 4 with friends just to eat at Mekong. Got there around 12:30 to find it not opened. No sign on the door. Called their number, no answer, no answering machine. Are they no longer in business?

Unfortunately, the restaurant had experienced some difficulty so less than half the menu you was available. Problems extended to payment so card machines were not available and only venmo and Apple pay could be used. More troublesome was the cleanliness of the restaurant. With all that said, I would probably be willing to try it again once their problems were ironed out. On the brighter side, the two people working were affable and as helpful as they could be under the circumstances. They were also very apologetic about the difficulties.

Good food and great service. My only critique is that the prices on the menu pictures posted on here are not accurate, expect to pay 1.5 to 2x what you see on the pictures.

This is my go-to place for Vietnamese food, its a quick drive from places in town i go shopping and is my first stop for a comfort meal after over coming a flu or cold. Theyy grow many of their herbs fresh in house. It is seat-yourself style, half tables half booths. I usually order the combination beef pho which is served with fresh: jalapeno, basil and lime. I appreciate the last time I ordered it to go they packed it with a side cup of the sriracha and hoisin. I often times get either green tea or thai coffee. Bummed the last couple of times I tried to order the fried sesame balls they were out. I'd love to try them but i know all restaurants are experiencing supply chain issues right now and are not always able to fufill all their menu options, so perhaps thats whats up? Either way, friendly service, lovely atmosphere, consistently delicious food.

Do not eat the beansprouts, as they are reused and recycled between customers. Not sure why this place hasn’t shut down! Very dirty place, ran down drug deals awaiting happen.

I don't know what's happened, but this place has went downhill lately. Service is still good, but the food quality is bad. Ordered a combo pho today, was told after the food got to me that there was no tripe or basil. What they didn't tell me was that there were no meatballs either. And after I finished the bowl, I had a terrible aftertaste in my mouth. I've never had that happen with pho before from any place. Two stars because I used to really love this place, but I'm not going back unless I hear about some improvement.

Serving is huge and decently priced. Broth was okay, slightly sweet which was a different taste but not bad.

We have always loved Mekong and enjoyed bring friends with us today was the first time we've have been in a few weeks and we where very disappointed to see how much this have changed. They're menus are a lot small and prices are a lot higher. We where trying to still be hopeful its been a tough year. But they where out of a lot of the items and the portion sizes where a lot smaller. Our coffees where extremely bitter. Way more then it has ever been before. The steamed duck buns where completely different and much smaller once put together. When we ordered dessert they only had one option and when we got the mango rice pudding it looked nothing like it has before and tasted like over cook melted rice we couldn't even finish it. I'm sad and disappointed to say we will not be coming back.

Clearly not enough people to staff the place. Pho did not come with any spouts jalapenos etc. Beef ball pho was good but not exceptional. Duck and egg noodles was good but a little salty, light on duck, and the duck meat was mediocre. Place is very clean.

They'll rip you off a bowl of xl noodles and just give you 2 fork lifts of noodles and they give alot less portions of meat than before and will lie to you that it is extra noodles! It's basically just a bowl of alot of liquid, charged us for everything we order and we didnt receive what we paid for. I don't know what happened to the previous service but this current one the last 2 or 3 months has been awfully scamy don't eat here if you don't want to get rip off.

Was my #1 before but the las 2 times I visited this place The service with the new guys is just bad. And the pho has no flavor. new people in the kitchen and the food is flavorless. The Nuddles is like dough, over cooked. Don't even had jalapeños not more.. And the price for the pho now with drinks is $37 I always order Beef rib pho

Didn't stay, after over an hour we didn't receive food! No sorry or why no food. They seemed not to care about us. Been there many times before, no problems and good food. Not sure we will ever go back.

4 of us waited for our food for 1 hour and 15 min. It never came. I told them they had 5 min or we leave . We left no food hungry..

Very good Vietnamese food. Very friendly. I have eaten at many Vietnamese food places across the country, and the ones with the best food, don't have great buildings. Places with great buildings, don't have great food. So choose what you want. But it's a thing with Vietnamese restaurants.

The staff is very helpful, tables are cleaned fast. Good lunch crowd.

Definitely the best Vietnamese restaurant in Greenville in my opinion. Have been getting their pho and other dishes for years, and they never disappoint. It’s a hole in the wall, but I’ve tried plenty of other noodle places around town, and I always end up wanting Mekong 🍜🥰.

Finally made it here and had a great meal.

The restaurant was fairly clean, service was fast, food was well mediocre it wasn't bad but it wasn't great either. Another thing I didn't like was instead of putting the meal together in the kitchen they bring broth and noodles in a bowl then all the meat and veges on the side for you to add yourself. This ended up getting broth spilled as you try to add them all not to mention when I asked for it to go. Instead of taking the soup and pouring it into a container they just brought me a plastic cup which of course spilled on me when I tried to put it into a small plastic cup from a huge soup bowl. Normally don't complain, but just to many little things done wrong. Would I go back there?? Maybe it may have just been my server who was not thinking it doesn't fix the way the meal is served but maybe you can request them to do it. I'll try that if I go back and see how things go and post an updated version of this

Delicious healthy food at an amazing price. They grow their own herbs right on site. A wonderful place to eat!

Been here many times over the years and it never fails to impress. Authentic, flavorful, well priced and friendly service. I highly recommend the duck bun, marinated quail and fresh spring roll.

Family restaurant. Only place to offer beef ribs. The soup for the pho is ok, but other than that, everything is good. Portion is generous and price is very reasonable.

Good food, good service. Highly recommend the summer rolls, the peanut sauce was AWESOME.

I got the large flank and brisket pho. It was worth the extra $2 to get completely full. I’ve had regular size in the past and no one likes to leave hungry. The broth is super tasty compared to some others in the area. Definitely going to be back!

I’m pretty sure they grow their food in the back. It is open and there was a stray cat. It was also in a bad neighborhood. Do not recommend.

This was my 2nd time here. The service and food were bad. No one came to check in on us. The vegetarian pho was the worst pho I’ve ever eaten. They added vegetables like beans and broccoli to boiled noodles and called it veggie pho.

We really love this restaurant. The Pho is our favorite. It's always perfect. The spring rolls and summer rolls are always really delicious. I don't get pork in my summer rolls or meat in my Pho. A young lady actually came to our table to make sure I wasn't a vegan because the broth of the Pho is beef. I assured her I wasn't, but I thought that was a lovely thing to do. This is a great place that you have to try!

High quality food, wholesome family atmosphere and friendly staff.

This was my first foray with Vietnam food and I wished I would have discovered it sooner. My daughter wanted to go and I was glad to accompany her. This place has sparse but clean decor. The waiters are brisk and informative. I had the lemongrass chicken rice platter which had a perfect level of spice. My daughter ordered the London broil Pho. We shared the spring rolls which were delicious! Next time we will order more. Both of our entrees were perfection. So yummy. My daughter recommended the mango rice pudding with coconut ice cream. It was absolutely fantastic. So warm and cozy. So happy and content. We both arrived home and took a nap. I am grabbing a Pho to go today. Highly recommend!

Clean place. Fast service. Came on my lunch break and had the brisket and flank pho. Very very good. Great fresh herbs. Perfect dish on a chilly fall day. Only downside is I wish they had the “clear” noodles but the noodles used were just fine. Will definitely be back.

Not terrible but not that great either. I had a grilled pork banh mi and grilled pork and shrimp fresh rolls -- just lacking in the freshness and vibrant flavors you associate with Vietnamese food. The pork in the rolls was super dry, basically like a dry sheet of pork, no juice in it left whatsoever. Peanut sauce not very peanuty, tastes watered down or from a bottle. The grilled pork banh mi was pure fat, not soft fat of a braised pork belly but just chewy gross fat. I threw most of it away. Sandwhich-wise you'd be better served by just getting a sub from Publix honestly. Clientele seems to be mostly people from the motel 6 next door. I wouldn't avoid it if that's your only option but I wouldn't go out of my way to eat here either. Staff is quite nice, however.

Absolutely the best Pho around with interesting appetizers. Always the highest quality. The first 3 spoonfuls are heaven and memorable make one return.

I've been wanting to try this place and today was the day. I got the vegetable stir fry and 2 spring rolls.What a great combo of things I'd never seen before , not too spicy just right.The service was friendly & efficient. Not pricey .Recomend highly

I asked my wife where she would like to get lunch & she suggested we should try Mekong Vietnamese. Wow, full of flavors and very good food to go with the excellent service. We had a xl beef brisket Pho soup to go (now one of our favorite soups of all Vietnamese restaurants we've eaten) & ate at the table, the Korean BBQ Beef ribs, Shakey beef & rice and combination Vietnamese Fried rice. Everything was so full of flavors we hadn't had before in a Vietnamese restaurant. Might be because they grow some of their own spices. We will definitely be back but next time we'll be a little bit more frugal. Our bill for these 4 dishes & drink was $69.09 plus 20% tip.

Good food. Good service. Reasonably maintained older restaurant. Had lots of awards given about 6 or so years ago. It seems that some of the family has managed to keep it going. Pho is very traditional. Comes in 3 sizes. Heavy on the rice noodles. Vermicelli bowl is not so traditional. Also heavy on the noodles. Seasoned pork. Herbs that are unique such as Fish-Mint. The taste was just okay. They grow a lot of different herbs in a bucket garden in the back. So, you might some different and interesting flavors. It seems that plenty of Vietnamese enjoyed this place.

This is as authentic as it gets, A+ Pho the decor may be stuck in the 70s but the food is out of this world.

The food was good, we order some pho, vermicelli noodles and banhmi sandwiches. The place was nice and clean as well as the customers service.

I lived in Seattle, WA for 23 years and thought I'd experienced the best pho that could never be matched anywhere. When I moved back to Greenville I was so disappointed by the fact there were very few pho restaurants. The first one I tried was a total fail. My daughter told me to try Mekong. My fav in Seattle is named Mekong Village so I thought okay I'll try it and crossed my fingers. The pho is prefect. My first taste of the broth almost made me weep tears of joy. Thank you. Greenville is my home but my love of pho and Vietnamese food was a gift of living in Seattle in an amazing melting pot of culinary prize boxes. Thank you Mekong!

Great food and nice people.If you want something different.This is the place.It's a relaxing atmosphere to.They give chop sticks to.So you can use the fork and spoon,or the chop stick.They will change the menu around for your own preversense.They are good.

First experience with Vietnamese food. Presentation was amazing and the food tasted great! I regret not getting the pho but I will order that next time. The lemongrass chicken stir fry is a safe bet if you’re not sure about traditional Vietnamese fare.

Looking at the other reviews, I expected more depth of flavor in the phò broth. Both my wife and I felt the food was lacking savory flavors, but maybe that's just because we've had better. I would come back again, if in the area, but maybe not plan it as a destination. Service was good and attentive. I was going to give 3 stars, but to be fair, the food was good, just not great. I didn't want to dissuade anyone from trying it, since it may be our own expectations were higher because we just moved here and craving Vietnamese. Love the chili oil, but vegetables didn't seem as crisp and fresh as they could be. We were the first customers of the day, so maybe didn't get new stock? Anyway, that's just my opinion, which usually means nothing... 😉

Food was good and close to being authentic.

I've spent several years in a relationship with a Viet girl, Vietnamese is my favorite food my far. I don't get the love for Mekong. For my 2 cents, Pho Noodleville is my far the best in town. My grilled pork on rice was disgusting, soggy and bland.

My wife loves this restaurant, she enjoys the pho and is one of her favorites. The reason they didn't get 5 stars for me, is that as a vegetarian the options are very limited and what is available isn't all that good. Many of my friends and family really enjoy their food.

Huey Tran was the most beloved chef in Greenville, and his family has carried on his legacy in delicious Vietnamese cuisine. The pho broth is the best I have ever tasted!

First time trying Vietnamese food, very large portions and very tasty. Alot of appetizers on menu, steam buns are fantastic.

Favorite is bun bo hue if it’s the old owner’s mom cooking it. If it’s other cooks usually not as good. Their shaking beef dish is also really good. I would not get the banh xeo or pho or bun rieu. They were bland. Waitresses and waiters are already really nice and provide good service

The food here is very flavorful and delicious. The staff here is very attentive and eager to make sure you’re satisfied. I don’t come often, but when I do, it’s a great experience. Hope you enjoy it like I do.

Surprisingly good Vietnamese restaurant in Greenville. Tried Pho Tai and veggie Pho(double vegetable). Taro sticky rice with coconut cream is my favorite dessert, not too sweet and they use fresh taro not canned type.

Very delicious!! I highly recommend the vermicelli bowls!
