This place has the best nachos I've ever had. The savory flavor from the mushroom chorizo only amplifies the traditional flavors along with the perfectly cooked carnitas. I cannot recommend this meal enough. Atmosphere is modern yet simple. There is background music but it's not too loud. It is very busy tho. The drinks look delicious. Every drink that has passed my table is something I've oo'ed and aaaah'ed because it's just looks yummy! Their presentation isn't overly showy but inviting. I rarely give a place a perfect score but I have nothing I could possibly comment on in terms of improvement. They do have a happy hour which I recommend

I love Mercado. *Everything* is delicious. Their cocktails are fab. And my friend and I agreed that the churro ice cream was hands down the best dessert we've had all year!

Perfect place for a nice dinner with your significant other

Mercado serves very fresh and delicious Mexican food. Unlike many Mexican restaurants that overload their dishes with sauces and melted cheese, Mercado uses fresh, incredibly well seasons ingredients to put together Mexican food that is full with flavor. Highly rec the steak tacos, mole, and the kale salad w/shrimp. Also, be sure to try their salsa, it's wonderfully smokey and delicious

Jicama Shrimp Tacos and Dos Gringos Tacos were insanely delicious. I’m not a fan of cilantro, but I challenged myself to eat it and was pleasantly surprised. Both tacos were seasoned to perfection, which allowed me to enjoy the authentic flavor of the dish. The churro-flavored ice cream was delightful- not overwhelmingly churro-based——it had the right amount of flavor. The service was fantastic, from the hostess greeting you with personalized attention to the waitress, Cat, who ensured you received the best. I'm picky with Mexican food and this spot in the Universal neighborhood delivers the real deal! I had a non alcholic Margarita - YUMMMY!

The food was delicious!! We started with a watermelon margarita which was tasty and refreshing. The cheese dip had the perfect amount of spice to it and the chicken mole enchilada was the best, with fresh grilled corn and Mexican rice which was very fresh and definitely tastes really good. I’m a picky eater and was very happy with everything from start to finish. Will be back for sure. 10/10

We had the tacos de carnitas, tacos de papa,carne asada, spicy cucumber margarita, blood orange margarita, watermelon basil margarita, and flan. The food was very delicious and the drinks were refreshing. The service was great. The environment was nice. If we lived in CA, we'd go back.

The drinks were on Point, and can I just say.... the tacos.... you can Not go wrong with the tacos during the Happy Hour specials. The shrimp tacos were our tables' favorite for sure.

The carnitas were really good. I ordered the "Mercado" - house specialty drink. Too much ice so it was just meh. Will try again to give them another shot

I was there w my kids and we love it the carne asada the tampiqueña and I have to said the champiqueso mushrooms deep w cheese so delicious 😋 I really recommend after a hold day at Universal I good cocktail and delicious Mexican food and the price is very fair ohhh the spicy passion fruit margarita 🍹 you keep on the menu the moratorium eas really good. Thank you for the great experience

Loved this spot. Great food, especially the guacamole and fish tacos! Inviting atmosphere, and they also have valet and street parking.

We came here for a company party. Shout out to the staff for dealing with us first of all. The menu was limited for the party but the Carne Asada and the dips that came with the chips were incredible. I'll be back to try the full menu.

Dinner was delicious. The guacamole was particularly good. The server James really went out of his way and was very friendly and patient with our son. The restaurant was beautiful.

To expensive and the food horrible

I came here since my friends and I were in the area. The venue was very nicely decorated. Our bartender was very attentive, which was great. We had some drinks and something to eat. We had jamaica shrimp tacos, dos gringas, margaritas, beer, and chilled out for a few hours.

My food was very tasty but then when I tired my wife's food it was even more amazing the service the atmosphere the food everything was excellent

Friendly and accommodating staff, tasty drinks and delicious food. Would highly recommend the pescatarian options, as our group tried different menu items and they were all amazing. Server gave wonderful recommendations, and was very patient with our late guests. Perfect location near Universal City near the freeway. Not too crowded, so our large group was able to socialize without having to compete with a noisy environment. Indoor and outdoor seating options make this place perfect for dinner or Sunday brunch. Highly recommend.

$38 for carne asada and $17 for guacamole and they have the nerve to to try to charge me for a side of lime wedges and cilantro. Let me repeat that, the carne asada does not come with free lime wedges! NEVER ORDERING FROM HERE AGAIN

Felt welcome from the second i set foot inside the resturant. The waitress was kind and helpful. And the food? It’s possible the best food i’ve ever eaten. The beef tacos were absolutley delicious.

Ordered from her online and the menu item description and picture didn't match what I actually got. Food was cold and tasteless. Would not recommend. Please avoid.

Great happy hour! Get the carnitas tacos

Quick summary: This is the nicest service I have encountered in a long time! And the carnitas are amazing! (My husband said maybe the best he’s had and he’s eaten a lot of carnitas) Everyone from the hostess to the manager to our waiter was very friendly and made sure our food was coming out at a decent time. When they forgot the fish tacos, they were extremely apologetic and comped it without us asking. It wasn’t necessary but we appreciated the gesture and made sure to tip extra well. On top of that the food was just really, really good (again, carnitas) and I had an amazing verde mocktail. I appreciate restaurants that make interesting non alcoholic drinks that’s not just juice and fizzy water. We will no doubt be back and tell our friends about this place!

So delicious!!! Exactly what we need after a long day in Universal Studio. We tried to avoid restaurants in the park and city walk (expensive, bland food). We walked just down the hill to this restaurant with no wait line, drinks are great and food is very tasty. Highly recommend the carnitas plate!

I had an absolutely outrageous experience here. We went out to an early dinner on a Friday. It wasn't empty, but not super busy. My wife's cousin tries to order a basic cheese quesadilla, and we are told it is not an option because it is not on the menu. I clarify that they have both cheese and flour tortillas and that everything is made to order, but am again told it is impossible for a cheese quesadilla to be made. My wife's cousin then tries to get close by ordering a chicken enchilada without the chicken. We are also told it is not possible to order without chicken. The food we actually ate was fine, but it is certainly not worth dealing with this comically inflexible policy. Mercado feels like a fast food restaurant masquerading as a full service restaurant.

We had a super meal here which was recommended by our concierge. It was the best Mexican we have had - food so fresh which the freshest ingredients. Cocktails also excellent.

I’ve been here many times but this last time was Awful service. Basically ignored all night. Wanted to order more drinks and the waiters would just walk by us. Food is okay, not great. They don’t know what ceviche is. It was just Tuna sashimi. This place is a hard pass

3 stars coz the food is pretty decent but drinks were a bit over the top with ice and service is definitely not up to par compared to the other Mercado locations we've been to. We were a large group and we ordered quite a lot even if happy hour, we were there for a birthday but no warmth or such. No one even touched our table before last call for happy hour and even if we ordered at 6:59pm they already rang it in at full price already...just too bad coz we love the brand but this location idk..can't say the same level as others.

ok Mexican food but really nothing special ... a bit pricey and small portions. I have the steak tacos which for 20 bucks was incredibly small. This seems to part of a chain with very small menu and focused on turning tables and middle of the road Mexican food.

Booked for a group in advance. Everything on the Surf & Turf Tablita was cooked perfectly. A+ service, very attentive.

We (my family and I: I'm French living in Italy and my family is living in Switzerland and in Los Angeles) went to Mercado restaurant the day before New Year' Eve. First of all the welcoming was very warm with a large smile, then our waiter Christian was so nice and helpful. The food (specially Guacamole and ceviche for us) was excellent with fresh ingredients and every dish was very tasty. At the end the manager, Josh, came to talk with us at our table and explain what they want to do with this restaurant and how they are making their dishes. That, in a very nice way. Then he offered us some tacos that we didn't ordered, just for tasting. We had a so wonderful dinner in Mercado, and we recommend it strongly. As I said before we have a large spectrum of tastes and everyone was satisfied. Bravo!

Absolutely loved our experience here. The food was fantastic and the service was excellent. The menu suggestions from our waiter were excellent and we were able to share and experience an assortment of different dishes. The vibe and music was also most excellent. We will certainly be going back!

First time here and I have to admit the food was superb, definitely will be coming back! Our waiter was great, super attentive, friendly, great personality, made our experience great. The carnitas nachos is a must, but i also loved their potatoe tacos! Oh the watermelon drink was super good, i think I had three?!?😊

Being Hispanic I hate places where the rice, beans are mushy, overcooked or too salty but this place had great food, great drinks and great service. Parking is valet (10) but do it.

Terribly mediocre Mexican food, I don't understand how it's rated so highly. First I cannot believe the enchiladas come with nothing and they have the audacity to charge $6 for a little cup on rice on the side that costs probably 25 cents to make. The quality of the chicken was good but I found a small bone in it, when I said something to the waiter he was completely unfazed and said it happens all the time. Also who puts raw red onions on top of enchiladas?! It's a small thing but was indicative of my overall experience.

Food was okay, we didn't get to order much of anything because we got there 30 minutes before happy hour ended, we ordered two drinks, got HEAVILY pushed by the waiter to order this expensive appetizer which we did. Then 15 minutes til HH ended, we're looking around for the waiter to order a few more items but he's nowhere to be found. Finally he comes back exactly 5 minutes til 7pm, and we ask to order more drinks and food and he rudely tells us HH has ended. He claims he can't get our order into the computer (that is 10 feet away from our table) in under 5 minutes. I just laugh and say okay, assuming this waiter is just having a bad day and wants to take it out on us. He suddenly says "let me run and order it for you" (order ends up being wrong too) ignores ordering for the rest of the table, when he comes back it's still 4 minutes until happy hour is over, he takes the rest of our tables order (not HH stuff) and is able to take and place ALL the orders with 3 minutes to spare til 7pm. It's just absolutely ridiculous. If you don't want your patrons ordering HH, don't have HH! But refusing to place an order and having a major attitude about it is definitely NOT the way to go about it. He ensured we'll never return to Mercado.

Food was out of this world. The Cauliflower tacos were bursting with flavor. Only wish it came with more. Cucumber Margherita was top notch as well. Will dream of those tacos.

For sure it’s a bit pricey but the food quality is just worth it. The chips and guacamole are fresh and delicious, the tortilla bread is also tasty. To top it, their carne asada is probably the best I ever have in LA

This place is amazing, from the ceviche to the carnitas, and don't forget to get the guac. Delicious margarita options and atmosphere was a nice ambiance for a packed spot.

Definitely pricey but well worth the visit. We ordered the chilaquiles and I have to get pork on the side because of my vegetarian GF 😑 The pork was so delicious that I’m so happy it was ALL for me 🤤 Drinks were good. A little stiff but not going to complain about that. Definitely going back to sample their other items

Had the stuffed mushroom poblano. It was good. Service was ok. Some of the staff seemed bothered that we had birthday balloons and a gift on the table. Tables were stacked up against each other resulting in the obligatory "accidental contact".

Authentic, delicious Mexican food. Attentive, prompt and courteous service. The Margaritas and guacamole were also delicious. Mercado is not inexpensive, but it is worth every penny!

I’ve been coming to Mercado for years. The food is consistently great, service is fast and the atmosphere is upscale but casual. The dip duo and flan will CHANGE YOUR LIFE.

This place is amazing! I went for my birthday last Saturday and I highly recommend going during happy hour. Everything I had was from the happy hour menu and it made my visit not only inexpensive, but my friend and I were able to taste various items from Mercado, all which were heavenly. I had the calabazitas and the tamales, while my friend had the carnitas nachos. The Flor De Jamaica was also my favorite drink there as it was so refreshing and the Jamaica (hibiscus) taste wasn't watered down. I definitely will come back!

Wish they would specify that chicken mole is sweet. Other wise food was amazing. Jamaica Margaritas are on a different level. Great service!!

Came in for happy hour. Server was great. I ordered the mash potato tacos, which I think my date loved, guacamole was off the chain and so were the fish tacos, they were flavored really well! We also had Margaritas that were excellent. If you don't like loud noise don't sit at the bar. The constant margarita production with very loud shakers drove us up the wall and we had to move. But overall will definitely be back

Happy hour was a blast. Well priced margaritas and gourmet tacos, tamales, taquitos, and an amazing mushroom choriqueso dip with fresh crunchy chips! The ribeye steak, although pricy, was outstandingly delicious. This place is a gem!

The chicken mole was to die for. The sauce was perfectly umami and tangy. The fish tacos were decent, although that’s not my favourite dish so I am not a good judge. We also ordered spicy skinny margaritas, which we ended up having to take back because they were the spiciest margaritas we ever had. (and this is coming from someone who loves spice.)

Elegantly upscale. Elegantly Mexican. This restaurant is now our favorite in not just Hollywood, but most of California. They take what you think you know of Mexican cuisine and give you a lesson in refinement and culinary perfection. Appetizers. Entrees. Drinks. Doesn't matter. There are no wrong choices here. Close your eyes and point at something on the menu and you'll be happy. The staff is at the top of their game, and the speed of service will leave you stunned. Only wish we had room for dessert, which I'm sure was equally amazing.

Very good Mexican restaurant from drinks to desserts. Menu is creative but keep fresh and authentic original taste. Be mindful that some menus are very spicy. Service was really good. We will come back for sure.
