Co workers love it but it's just ok to me

It's a simple little restaurant. The prices are very reasonable for their day by day menu. The meal I ordered for lunch was very delicious. So if you are near Mia's and hungry, drop in and get some great food.

I really had high hopes for this place, until I was thinking about going back tomorrow. That was until I got ready to sit down for lunch and I had tomatoes on my hot sausage po'boy. I called at 10:44am and placed my order, the young lady over the phone stated that my order would be ready in 20mins (no problem). They were bring my order at 11:04am I mean 20mins on the dot. I don't go to until 3pm, however I pick up my food before going because I don't like to always leave. Got ready to eat and my sandwich was loaded with tomatoes. I am highly allergic to them and I asked that they don't be on there. leven had the receipt that says "no tomatoes"

UPDATE: 7/29/2024 I've had lots of food from here (lasagna, fried porkchop, turkry necks, ribs, etc.) Today, im getting the meatballs & spaghetti, porchop sandwich & cup of gumbo) bc I pass it going home from work. IT'S ALL DELICIOUS AND AFFORDABLE! 1st of all, call ahead. It's really busy and a little chaotic. I got an order of just ribs $6.99, a fried pork chop (2) dinner with potato salad, mustard greens, corn bread, and rice and gravy, and a turkey necks plate with the same sides for $38.23 - not bad. Ribs and tender, but the sauce is really sweet (for my liking). Porkchops & 3 big turkey necks were good too. (I've had better but still good.) The greens were good and the corn bread was excellent (it's not cakey, more like an old fashioned cornbread with more corn meal.) potato salad was meh - had a little tart taste and made eith chopped eggs potatoes so it was sort of loose. I will be back to try the gumbo, but I didn't have the patience to wait anymore. Overall, I am happy to support this black business, and it's worth a visit. I won't dine in, though, just again bc it was packed.

It was a little wait but it was WELL worth it. The pork chop, the yams, the red beans the DAM good cabbage with the meat, Dam Again 😂❤️💪🏾 I’ll be back y’all 💪🏾❤️💪🏾

Absolutely delicious, fresh cooked food and such a sweet welcome! Particularly loved the fried okra. The perfect way to start our adventures in New Orleans!

Mia’s take on cuisine is 🔥 I’m from up north and the flavors that were packed into this food was amazing. You can tell somebody made this food with love try out the lunch specials fair priced food and good eats.

The smell of the awesome food smacks you in your face as soon as you come in. EVERYTHING WAS OUTSTANDINGLY AMAZING.

I stumbled on this place when looking for something close to the airport. Great catfish, excellent cornbread and the buttery peas were delicious! Great little down home place with friendly folks!

It wasn't the best experience I stepped up to the counter to grab a menu lady behind the counter older lady I said hi and she just looked at me. Whatever, I then step to the register and the lady said what do you want ok I order she told me the price and walked away before I could pay so I was just standing there and had to wait for another person to take my money... Food The ribs where fall off the bone 🦴 🦴 good The greens lacked flavor the Mac and cheese still getting used to the spaghetti noodles down here but they where good and the potatoe salad was okay

This is a family friendly establishment serving flavorful food with love. This is the best food I’ve had in New Orleans so far. The portions are great and there was no missing flavor from anything we ordered. Most tourist restaurants we’ve been to needed seasoning. This place does it right! We tried the generous shrimp po-boys, fried okra, a heavenly mac n cheese, and a delicious bread pudding. I would recommend it all.

Mia's is quintessential New Orleans cuisine. This is an excellent spot right outside the airport to begin exploring and enjoying the food of Nawlins.

Found Mia’s by accident when looking for a place to eat not far from the airport. The Po Boy sandwich was on point and got eaten before I could take a picture as well as the grilled and fried shrimp platers. I enjoyed the red beans and rice and the sweet cornbread. The food was delicious and Mia was very gracious and generous. This is a hidden treasure.;0)

I was loading in a wearhouse next door and as truck driver we hardly get any good food but I'll definitely be back awesome home cooking loved the backed chicken and rice and gravy 😋

Very great soul food, loved that it wasn’t loaded down with salt/seasonings. Got two extra plates to go because it was so delicious. Staff gave me two free deserts because it was my first time!!!! Will most definitely be back.

The food is good but the service is terrible. They are very unorganized and unprofessional. I placed my order at 11:42am and I didn’t receive it until 12:42pm. They didn’t even know they had a grubhub pickup order until I said something for the 3rd time. Unless you have a 2-hour lunch break I DO NOT recommend this place.

Our only option without a car, needing to eat, prohibited from walking on the freeway, we stumbled on Mia’s. We had spicy chicken wings (needed another few minutes of cooking but had good sauce), lasagna (the day’s special, pasta rather heavy), jambalaya (good), beans and rice (simple but good). Service was friendly. They do a huge takeout business as cars pulled up to get their preordered food. We were the only people who walked.

My mother was born and raised at Cypermort Point Louisiana; that's about 8 miles from the Vermillion Bay about 30 miles (or so as the crow flies) south of New Iberia. She was a wonderful cook and I remember my dad's friends always considered it a delight to taste her food. Mom's been gone for a while now but thank goodness I have found Mia's eatery; this is the closest I have found to my mother's cooking anywhere that I have ever been. Also, my Parrot gets all excited when I bring food home from there, she loves it (especially the potato salad). Bar-B-Que Ribs are incredibly fall off the bone good!!! Thanks, Mia, for bringing me as close to mom's cooking as I have ever been.

Very popular and very good lunch spot. I’ll be visiting again when passing through the area. Would recommend

Other than being a little warm inside, the food is amazing, the people serving you couldn't be nicer, and the prices are very competitive. I eat lunch here at least twice a week, and I highly recommend trying it out.

I recommend early arrival first and foremost because the food is so good they may sell out lol, the desserts are very good as well. If you are looking for some real soul food I suggest you check them out. I drive 40 min from home to Mia's for their good cooking.

Great place if you want home cook food. We had the Catfish and fried orka. It was cooked to order which we loved. Keep up the great work Mrs. Mia and all her staff.

Takes to long to order and get food

We are a small business, so I'm all for supporting a small business. The food has a consistency of good taste, but the cakes omg..... you guys have to try Mia's cakes so.........good, my favorite is the chocolate cake with the white icing.

I love going to the smaller independent owned restaurants because I know my food is prepared with love. If you've not been here, don't miss the opportunity.

The restaurant itself is kind of a dive, hidden away next to a convenience store/gas station but the food is Tremendous! Everything I had was fresh and hot and the servings were generous. Very reasonably priced.

I get the meat loaf on Tuesday and the rib tips on Friday. Really good food. Ribs on Thursday

The food was awesome! I had ribs, greens and potato salad. The ribs was so tender and so meaty. The greens and potato salad was great too. My plate was loaded. The price was reasonable, I will be going there everyday for lunch. 🥹🥹

Food was amazing i had the beef rib tips and rice macaroni and green beans my husband had the seafood platter which included fried catfish (freshly fried) jambalaya, shrimp pasta and a stuffed bell pepper to top it off and everything was on point!!

I've been alive 46 years now, and I eat at the finest restaurants in New Orleans regularly. I just started picking up Mia's for lunch occasionally, and they have the best green beans I have ever had. Their bbq chicken and potato salad is definitely top 5 also. This place is a gem. I can't wait to try more of their food!

Good food and good prices, but place needs more lighting; it is too dark in there. Feels like the lights went dim. Old fashion grandma type feel and I love the fact the shrimp are deveined and clean.

We are a college tennis team from north Idaho, and we were playing in some matches over the weekend in the greater New Orleans area. We stumbled upon Mia's Eatery while staying at a hotel just down the street. We were immediately greeted with friendly faces, smiles, and southern hospitality. All 9 of us had never eaten southern food, but we all absolutely fell in love with everything we tasted. We all agree that this is some of the best food that we have ever eaten. We loved it so much that we went back and got it again! Twice in one day! This food is so phenomenal, and the service was incredible. The southern hospitality is very real at Mia's eatery, and you have some lifelong fans from Idaho. 5 stars and would absolutely recommend to everyone! Thank you so much!

Such good food. Exceptionally down to earth, no nonsense flavors. Just home cooking feels. It tastes like someone actually out thought into cooking it with care. It's not fancy, but my taste buds loved their food over a lot of the "fancy" restaurants I've tried closer to the city. My favorite sides were gravy poured over rice, corn pudding, and sweet potato pie. Will come again when in the area.

First time visiting this established today. I had the lasagna and my husband had the fried pork chops. Both were phenomenally good. Portions so big I couldn't finish mine but my husband took care of that for me. Perfect southern cornbread and southern hospitality, the lady at the front counter explaining the menu and offering free desserts as we were first time customers. I chose the brownie, such perfection I almost felt guilty for eating, as though I should be saving it for company. The brownie was so light, tasting the powdered sugar in the frosting and the sifted flour in the batter, yet rich and decadent at the same time. I can't wait for a return visit.

Man, some real home cook food that will put you the mind of Sunday dinner. I highly recommend this place to anyone and everyone to try if you are in the area.

Nice and quiet. The young lady at the register was very pleasant & friendly. The food was hot and good. The only issue is that the pork chops was fried in the same fish grease, it was still good
