We were headed out for dinner one evening and wanted to go somewhere different.....Mitchell's kept popping up so we went....it wasn't that crowded as it was during the week when we went.....Ordered a really awesome meal and the drinks were good......Our waiter was awesome......Im just disappointed cause after we ate there I read an article that they closed the next day.....so that would have been fun to know since that was my 1st time ever at that restaurant

Would happily give zero stars. 3/6 of our party ended up with food poisoning after our meal. I am 6 months pregnant and i was so sick that i ended up in the hospital with severe dehydration, having to be monitored for pre-term contractions. We later found out the restaurant closed permanantly the day after we ate there. Avoid.

Disappointed. We came here for a business lunch and the place was almost empty. It still took almost 20 minutes to get our drinks. When four of the five drinks finally came two of them had to be sent back. The fifth drink came about ten minutes later. It took even longer for the food to come out. The food was fine after it arrived but by that point we were ready to eat and leave.

Usually a very nice experience. One of my oysters was not fresh. I usually smell each one first, but someone had already added lemon. My steak was ordered MR, but arrived rare (purple). Patrick noticed my disappointment and got my steak refired. We are going to miss Patrick and wish him well and congratulations on his move and promotion.

Went to dinner here with my wife for out anniversary, I even asked for a nice table; instead we got seated between the kitchen and a large group of 6-8 people. The dining experience left much to be desired. We ordered salmon and crab legs; the salmon was good but the crab was cut open making it all dry out before my wife could get halfway through it. Portion size is very small for the price you pay.

Once we're finally addressed by a server. Who apologized for no one getting to us, who was nice. But our order of apatizers were cold and cold muscles are not good. Still in between all the ordering there were large time gaps. Our food was hot at least. It seemed very under staffed for Friday dinner time.

Went to Mitchells last night with my wife and 2 daughters. It was a busy Saturday night. Service was extremely slow. Our app made it to the table long before our drinks or even water did. We had to ask our server again for water so we could eat our appetizer. After the app was cleared, it was about 45 minutes until our main course arrived. Lobster Bisque only edible with chunks of bread because of the extreme salt. Chef special, Flounder stuffed with their crab mix was average at best, crab stuffing was soggy and not cooked through - like mush. My wife's Fisherman's platter was the worst fried seafood meal I have ever tasted - tiny shrimp, scallops and cod battered way too much, bland and tasteless. The manager removed the Fisherman's platter and a martini that took way to long to get and we were still in for $130. The food was not anywhere near worth the price, even with the poorly made food and drinks removed.

This was a very disappointing dining experience for my friend and I. We went because we heard it was nice. The booth I was sitting in had a deteriorated seat which felt very unsanitary as I was wearing a dress. The lobster bisque was not hot and our meals came out the barely warm. The crab stuffing for the fish had no taste and was soggy...not cooked enough? The shrimp on my dish were very small and without seasoning. The crabcake way too salty. When you eat at an establishment like this and pay that asking price...the food should be spot on! Or at least hot!!The manager asked if we wanted to send it back under the heat but when you have to interrupt your experience to have everything sent back....what's the use? The experience has been lost. I would never return. We dine in many fine establishments and this one was one of the worst.

Hadn't eaten at Mitchell's because it has become hit or miss over the years with bad service and just OK food. We thought we'd try it again and we were disappointed. My yellow fin tuna was ordered blackened. It came out cold and didn't look appetizing at all. It took forever to get it sent back. Came back only a little warmer. I took only a few bites - wouldn't even doggy bag if for my dog. My wif'e's shrimp was tough and only warm. Staff's concern seemed only superficial - maybe there's nothing they can do when they deliver a bad meal. That was my last visit - too many good altnernatives in Bham to waste on hit or miss on a $170 dinner bill.

Dined here with a group of 6 on a Tuesday night. We started with drinks and appetizers. We were all craving oysters so we ordered a mixture of west coast, east coast and BBQ'd oysters. The BBQ'd oysters came out first and were delicious, but then they were followed by the east and west coast oysters. The west coast oysters were pretty good, but two of the east coast oysters were bad. Really bad. On person in our party ate one of the bad ones and ended up in the restroom, throwing up. The other gentleman that ate one, felt ill but didn't. We smelled the shells of the two bad ones and they smelled like something you would find dead behind a dumpster. The manager was notified and she came over. We asked that she please share the shells with the cook of whomever was prepping in the kitchen, but her only response was that they 'had sold hundreds of these today with no problems'. She offered to take the portion that we did not eat off the bill - so basically comping us for two oysters. She never shared the shells with the kitchen, and in the end other than comping the 1/2 dozen east coast oysters, offered us nothing. So we left, went next door and had a nice steak. We really weren't asking for much. Had this been handled differently we might have stayed to complete the dinner. Maybe comping the oysters and a round of drinks, but the manager hardly apologized for the error and seemed less than concerned for anyone's health.

Took my wife there for the first time on her birthday and walked away extremely disappointed; I will never go there again. I had the pecan encrusted trout - virtually no flavor at all, extremely bland. The red mashed potatoes that came with it barely had more flavor then the fish. My wife had a seafood bowl and the shrimp were tough and overdone. Our son had the ribeye, ordered medium, and it was also overdone. If we're at some family restaurant along Woodward like Ram's Horn, then I would have been fine with it because that's the quality of food I would have expected (which is why I wouldn't go to one of those restaurants for dinner), but at a place like Mitchell's, with the prices they have, I expected waaaaaaaaaaaaaay more. The appearance of the food even looked bland. And there was a ton of dust on top of the partition separating the row of booths. The interior of the place reminds me of my friend's house - when I was a kid back in the late 60's! The wait staff, however, was very nice. But the food? Terrible. I'm really shocked at how poor it was. The dessert, sharkfin pie, was decent, but the middle layer was frozen solid and you had to wait over 5 mins before you could eat it. They should have let it sit a few minutes before bringing it to the table. The steak and seafood bowl were $30 a piece, and my trout was $22, by the way. Again, I will never go there again - extremely overrated and a big rip-off. For that kind of money, go to some place like The Root, Mabel Gray, Selden Standard, Bacco, etc. Granted, those places are not seafood joints so maybe it's not a completely fair comparison, but money-wise the dining experience you will have compared to Mitchell's is ridiculous and shameful.

Decided to take my wife out, she loved the experience at this restaurant. The wait staff was great, very knowledgable and friendly. We had two waiters who were fantastic. The food was good but they shamelessly overpromoted the chefs special which was a salmon dish with a potato and apple hashbrown and a brown mustered sauce. It was average and afterwards we wondered to ourselves if they got a bonus for moving the dish or something. It was still a good dining experience even if overpriced. But that's not a surprise. You know that going in.

Did the little neck clam chowder (superb for a cream chowder outside the Northeastern U.S.) crusted Tilapia, and Key Lime pie for dessert. The main courses (including the "Shanghai" style cod my fellow diner had) were standard for coastal fare, but well-received for an inland restaurant. The Key Lime pie was Superb! The crust was not perfect, but the pie itself was obviously fresh-made with plenty of limes. It was truly the highlight of my meal. Chains usually mean same menu, but not same preparation. This is one of the better Mitchells or McCormick style restaurants I have eaten at. However, next time I am skipping the fish and going straight for chowder and pie.
