Our one and only go to spot for sushi in the upstate. Great foodvand atmosphere.

Another trip to this place. Need to change group I hang around with. Chicken fried rice. Dry rice, tough chicken in various sizes. Noticed two kitchen workers go to bathroom and not wash their hands...who does that in this day and age? Not a Japanese food fan, but menu seems built around a few key ingredients, with condiments. Uninspiring menu. Seems to get reasonable amount of traffic, so maybe satisfies on a different level. Again, didn't eat much as it was so unappetizing, so good for my diet. Definately wouldn't suggest this place, on hygiene concerns alone. Your mileage may vary on taste and authenticity.

It used to be a very good place, but recently the service has dropped a lot. products are not the first freshness. seafood is either undercooked or overcooked. It’s not clear what sushi is at all. not neat. And on top of all this, we waited for the order for more than an hour. Now I do not recommend this restaurant!!

The worse service I have experienced in a while. They need to learn to train their waitresses and not take things personally and to just do their jobs and help and Serve the food. Took 45 to get a drink and 1hr 10 mins to just get the last of our food. Ask for a manager and then had a rude waitress try and bully us to just hurry up and leave. Awful first time experience.

Atmosphere was nice. Service was VERY slow even tho it wasn’t that busy. Spent 100$ on sushi and appetizers we wanted to try a little bit of everything. We did not like one thing there. Everything had the same fishy taste. My husband loves raw fish but this was different. Not coming back again.

If you’re only going to order one roll, go with the Lucky Cat, Tansui Trio, Blue Christmas or Knight Warrior. The Sixth Sense is delicious, but I could only have a few because of the strong flavors. The Salmon Lemon and Caterpillar is refreshing, but may not be satisfying. Holy Moly is a good fried roll; would want to try Godzilla too. No to the Daniel Morgan, Cowgirl (good, but has that scorched taste), Fire Shrimp or Blazin’ Tuna. No no no to Summer Splash. 1- Lucky Cat 2- Blue Christmas 3- Salmon Lemon

If you want to actually eat sushi, don’t come here. It’s not authentic in any form and the rolls are unfortunately flavorless and basic, even with all the toppings and sauces added. They play gas station music as well. It might be a good spot for beers or something. Just not for those who love good Asian food. We didn’t finish our meals which is a first

I had a great dinner. The crab fingers were great. However the shrimp carpaccio was life changing. So good.

Awesome sushi with the best appetizers! I tried so many of the items and all were yummy. Prices are higher than average but the place is located in the heart of Spartanburg downtown. So that’s probably why.

Disappointing! I had the sushi lunch and side salad. The freshness and quality of preparation was below average across-the-board. Service was slow. I do not like to leave negative reviews but the 4.6 rating is misleading and it should be a 4.1 average rating. (I rated it lower hoping to bring the average down where it should be)

We usually go on a week day & always great service but we just went on a Saturday, as they opened, the place was packed to full potential & they had a baby shower going on in the back area. They service was still exceptional & pretty quick. Love, love, love their menu & food.

First time I went to Miyako it was amazing, this time not so much, I drive 45 minutes to get there for a to go order, once I left I realized only half my order was right, I received half of someone else’s order, I called to inform them, she in fact agreed that I got someone else’s order BUT that I also received my order, if that was the case I wouldn’t have complained a bit, but what we are not going to do is say I received something that I in fact did not, she then proceeded to get rude with me and said “well what do you want, a credit or something” no ma’am this isn’t about money, it’s about me letting y’all know a mistake was made. 45 mins out of my way and 80.00 later to only have two of my rolls correct is insane.

The food was great. The speed of getting the food out was pretty slow but it was a crowded night. Also the food came out as they made it so everything was fresh but we had people eating and others waiting at same time.

They raised their prices and their wait time has increased and now it’s extremely expensive to eat sushi as often there. Considering their quality is always hit or miss on the same rolls. For example sometimes the fish or shrimp is too dry as if it were sitting out or maybe over cooked and rubbery and other times it’s fresh and flawless. They charge for extra sauce during takeout but not when you eat in… for the price they charge for sushi the place needs to look a little nicer like a dinner experience it still looks like a lunch spot with extremely bright lights common.

I’ve been coming here often for 4 years & have always had a good experience/ great fresh sushi. But today’s experience was bad. I ordered the same sushi rolls I always do. The rolls came out stuffed with extra thick hard/dry rice. I had to disassemble the rolls to make them edible. When I told my waitress she quickly said, “It’s supposed to come out that way!” Super awkward. Guess it’s time to start exploring different sushi restaurants.

Disappointed with my to go order. Ordered and paid for a sweet chili crab roll. Seems that they made a crab crunch roll instead. Still giving 3 stars because the rest of the order was correct. Would not recommending ordering takeout.

Going there for food. It's great, no questions. Waitresses are helpful and friendly, but take a while to get your order if the lace is packed. We'll expected. Time to update and clean up the nterior before you start losing customers.

Consistently one of my go-to spots for sushi in Spartanburg. Pricing is fair, and the large "bistro style" rolls fill me up more than two traditional rolls. Try the mussels, they're addictively sinful! Service: we sat in the bar section, so I wasn't expecting fine dining, but the server was well spoken, intelligent of the offerings, and attentive.

Appetizing and Delicious. Everything.

Having heard much about this restaurant, I visited here for the first time with my family. Two of them have eaten here often and knew their way around the menu. I state it that way, as the menu provided is chock full of options, and may take a while to digest. (Pun intended!) Once familiar with the dining options, our group selected multiple dishes of different types and then shared our selections. I do not consider myself a sushi aficionado, but I did enjoy all the dishes, finding them fresh tasting and flavorful. A great place for sushi in Spartanburg. The service was excellent, and the place was jumping.

Went Saturday night at 6 o’clock. Put on the list for eight people. I was told it will be a 30 minute wait. After an hour of waiting, we went inside to see if our table was ready, and they told us maybe another 30 minute to an hour. Wait. I don’t know who the manager is but obviously they’re not managing this place right.

My bf tried bringing me to this place on 5 occasions. The hours are very inconsistent and what’s listed online is not accurate. It used to be his favorite sushi restaurant. Until we were finally able to find them open as advertised. We were “greeted” by someone who didn’t say a word to us. My bf asked for a table for 5. The woman walked off without saying “follow me” or anything. So we followed her hoping this meant a table was ready for us. She walked off only to come back and literally throw menus and glasses on the table. Literally. I said “thank you” and she said nothing and walked away. The food came and was incorrect but rectified. It all came out at different times. The bill was wrong. But the waitress was lovely and apologetic. Imagine our surprise when we found out the rude woman was the manager! She should be absolutely ashamed of herself for behaving so poorly. The staff fortunately was much better than the example she set. Hard to rate the atmosphere when the environment was just so toxic from the start.

This was my favourite sushi restaurant until tonight. The person who was at the entrance didn't smile or welcome us. She barked *how many* and marched off. We followed her to a table where she threw the menus on the table without a word and came back a few minutes and slammed down some glasses and napkins. She had a thunderous look on her face and made us so uncomfortable. The waitress who served us was pleasant and friendly but got the order and the check wrong. The food was highly mediocre this time. When we asked the waitron who the manager was so we could complain about the way we were treated on arrival - it turned out that the rude hostess at the door was the manager! Sadly I won't be going back ever again

I feel like they use MSG to flavor their food because my body had a really bad reaction to it. After I ate a little bit of the chicken bowl, my stomach was really upset and I needed to lay on the couch for the remaining 6 hours of the day (I am usually very active). I brought home leftovers and ate just one small piece of the chicken the next day to see if I’d react to it again, and I got a pounding headache. I wouldn’t go back for this reason—I’m not sure what ingredients they are using but something tells me they aren’t the best.

Came here to celebrate my sisters birthday waiter was nice and we had a nice time!

LOVE LOVE LOVE Miyakos! They are always pleasant and great service! Food is amazing!

They were short staffed and only 3 servers which is never their fault. The night started with appetizers, I had the fish chips .They tasted old and barley had toppings. On to the meal, I had the spyder roll which did not meet the expectations it had in the past. It was warm, no flavor, and crab was old like it had been sitting out. In the past I have came for birthdays and other celebrations and this place was so great . But I believe they have lost their touch .Not even to my friend FATTY who eats everything, I do not recommend.

Showed up right as they opened on a Sunday for lunch, immediately seated at the bar and our bartender Mandy was excellent. We had 3 rolls to share between 2 people and it was more than enough food.

The food and service are fantastic! We had the Dim Sum, vegetable fried rice, and pork dumplings. The night we were there the bar area was rowdy, but it wouldn't stop me from coming back!

Some of the best sushi I've ever head--and definitely the best locally. Wait can get long if you come at a busy time, but that's something you should be used to dealing with if you eat at good places.

Took my son here for his birthday dinner. Atmosphere and service were good. All of the food was good except the hibachi. It was in a gravy, which I thought was really weird. Steak was dry as well as the vegetables.

I don’t care for sushi (my partner loves it) but I found things still I love. The honey chicken has some heat and so delicious. The green tea cheesecake is good with fresh berries as well.

Used to be really good, gone downhill. Went the other night, 25 minutes for drinks, 20 min later cold apps had to send them back they came back warm and they did not take off the bill. Food is so so, allot of rice very little fish. We actually had to clear our own table and set it over on a brand new table to send a message. Pathetic. This is a beginners sushi restaurant, as far as the food goes not what you would consider all the authentic Japanese.

Walked in right when doors opened at 5:30 for dinner and they took our order first, people who came in 30-45 minutes after us got their food and ate and left. 1.5 hour later they bring our simple order and with hair on my sons roll and no sauce or anything else we asked for. Worst experience ever… 👎👎👎

Got the Jumping Shrimp and Over Rainbow during lunch. Thought that for my first time trying sushi here, I'd get one spicy and one not spicy. Neither were spicy and they kind of tasted the same... Everyone says this place is good so maybe it was an off day.

Wow! It's been a long time since I have been to Miyakos but it is just as good or better than I remember. So fresh, so good. Can't wait to come back.

One of the best sushi spots in Spartanburg but don’t expect great service. If you order take out make sure your order is correct before you leave. And if you order dine in make sure, your ticket is correct before you pay. Other than the service the food is decent.

Sat at the bar for my wife’s birthday dinner. Kitty was awesome as was the food and and service. Definitely recommend. That is Kitty for an awesome experience.

Would love to give this a 4.5 because the food is good. However after about 15-20 visits service has been consistently slow and unfriendly. The McDonald's of sushi service without the speed. Several occasions we have waited 15 minutes just for our server to come take our drink order. (One time we waited 30 minutes) Recently we waited 1 hour and 15 minutes from time of seating to getting food. My suggestion is order for take out prior to if you plan on going here.

One of our Favorite places to eat Sushi in Spartanburg. Probably our favorite place, honestly. Always Great, Always good service and clean. Busy or down time, always on point. Been going here for years. Definitely would recommend trying. Sushi lover or not.

Visited the town for a couple nights and just had the BEST time at this restaurant. The food was amazing! I had some Nigiri and Sashimi: buttery Tuna, Salmon, Squid, Eel. It was all very fresh. The bartenders were highly knowledgeable about the food and drinks. When we came in, it was very busy (because everyone knows it's good food!); so we were patient with the bartenders and it paid off! Every drink was on point: Moscow Mules, Lemon drop & Green tea shorts. The locals were fun and we shared many laughs throughout the night! It was a perfect ending to a long week.

The sushi here is really fresh and tasty. Wish I lived locally as I would be a regular customer. I like that they had so many beer options.

The wait was horrendous and service was slow. We went in for dinner around 5:45- no one barely was there and we still waited over an hour for our food. It was sushi! Server barely stopped by the table to check on us, but did apologize once for the long wait.

Our teenage granddaughter wanted to go Miyako for her birthday. Knowing that we had never eaten sushi, she told us they had some hibachi menu items. Yes they do, but so many other choices. Everything we ordered was a large serving and several people shared some of the dishes. I ordered the breaded and fried green beans and the panko crusted shrimp, both so delicious. My favorite was the vegetable fried rice. I brought home leftovers of the fried rice and still could not eat all of it. You really need to give this place a try!

If there's a sushi roll that isn't incredible on the menu, I have yet to try it. Their other dishes are good too, but if I'm going here I'm getting at least two rolls of sushi and some gyōza with edamame

If you are looking for high-quality fresh sushi in Spartanburg, this is the place for you. My wife and I LOVE this place! We come here at least once a week, if not twice a week. Highly recommend the Lucky Cat and the Night Warrior rolls. Besides the food, the staff makes this restaurant even more special - they are extremely friendly and they make a point to get to know regulars, which is rare these days. We are proud regulars here!

Hosted a babyshower in their semi private room. The best service and food. Even though, it was packed our server Aimee still managed to be amazing, courteous and super friendly. Remembered everything and was quick to serve.

Absolutely HORRIBLE customer experience. I called them at 6pm to make a reservation for 6 people at 8:30. Was told that they don’t take reservations day of. We decided to walk in. We walked in at 8:30 pm. They were busy but not packed. There were several open tables albeit not cleaned off. Was told that they’re not seating anymore today (they close at 11). So basically we were turned away. Rude. I will ABSOLUTELY NEVER eat at this restaurant again. If they don’t care about servicing their customers then I will take my regular business elsewhere.
