First time in Mon Lung The guy in the front , which I suggest was the owner was really good , helped me out to pick the food. I got a large House Fried Rice with crab rangoons. The food is delicious , they cooked it really fast . They also open for dine in Come check it out . Good spot for Chinese food . And they have delicious specials which I gonna try next time . Thank you guys !

The authentic and tasty dishes from Mon Lung have long become a staple that represents great food in Chicago. The food is excellent. They are intuitive of our dietary needs making available delicious gluten free options. As for the atmosphere; it’s all love. Here you are welcomed into a quaint home, their home to be exact. You’re warmly invited inside and served amazing authentic Chinese cuisine. It’s hard to decide if the food or the service is better. My tummy wants to say food but my heart says it's the people. When I’m there I feel as if I’ve chatted with my mom, dad, beautiful sisters and extremely cool brother (非常酷很帅). Dad is a little quiet, mom always compliments my dress, my sisters love tea and don’t tease me when I dress in traditional hanfu. My brother was the first person to welcome me long ago and has always been so warm and laid back. He’s knowledgeable about the city and has the best recommendations, even for other restaurants. Yes he tells me where to go eat! Why would he do that? Very simple, he knows I’ll be back for their awesome food, and family atmosphere. No need to travel to China town, for it is here you’ll experience not only the taste China has to offer, but the beautiful people and their passion. Owner recommended I try their egg rolls and they were delicious! The sesame chicken was one of the best I have had in Chicago - definitely going back soon. Great spot for dine in or takeout/delivery.

Egg rolls were delicious, orange chicken a bit dry but the sauce was awesome. My qualms were how spicy the fried rice was and how the crab wontons didn’t have any filling.

Mon Lung was my go to for Chinese for over a decade when I lived in the city. And when I say “my go to” I mean my friends, my partners, my old roommates, nobody does it better. I was in my old neighborhood today and ordered to go and couldn’t have been happier to see Lane when I walked in. Its been hard for the restaurant industry and I love to see that Mon Lung is still family owned after all of these years. Highly recommend everything on menu. Have yet to have a bad dish. Turn around time is quick and service is second to none.

I use to live a block away and would eat at Mon Lung sometimes 3 times a week, either eat in or carry out. The food was always incredible, I miss Mon Lung very much. Cheers Justine, miss ya!

my food was cold and had a plethora of long black hairs in it, i pulled out at least 3 strands from my fried rice.

Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else. The owners are very disrespectful and don't care about there customers just getting there money. Very overpriced and rude especially during these hard times.

I have came here since I was little and the food is always fresh, delicious and worth the money ! Great portion of food with equal price. The people here are always friendly and polite, 10/10 authentic food!

Love this place. Known for few years. Best Chinese food I’ve ever tasted. Not you’re average Chinese restaurant on the corner or in a mall. Egg Rolls Are Fresh & Made With Love.

Just what I needed: some warm tasty Chinese food and a cold Coke in a jiff. Food was pretty good, a little salty for my taste but most importantly, didn't taste like metal or freezer like you get in a lot of other take-out spots. Portion was pretty dang small compared to what you get elsewhere for the same amount (Their large is everyone els'es small).... but it hit the spot. Seemed pretty busy for a Tuesday.

Food is good. Cheap portions, paid about 15 bucks for a lunch special but got barely any rice. I have gotten Chinese food from multiple places and they almost give decent portions but not this place. People are nice tho, just upset about the amount of food.

The house fried rice is the bomb. Perfect for a quick bite to eat. Perfect size for lunch and dinner. Perfect price too!

Great classic Chinese-American carry-out. Definitely will become my "go to" place to order from, especially because they have small vs large sizes of most items enabling better variety when ordering for 1-2 people. Everything was well made.

You get VERY little amount of food for what you pay. For example, this tiny amount of satay beef cost $12! Will NOT order from this restaurant again. VERY overpriced!

Mon Lung has really great food and service. They have a nice take out Covid window setup just inside their restaurant. When I've arrived my food has always been ready for pickup. I've tried their lunch specials. I've also ordered their dinner entrees, egg rolls, soups. All orders were correct, food was hot and prepared quickly. I like that their spicy entrees are actually spicy. I will order from them again.

Food was solid, prepared quickly, and we got it for pick up. Prices are solid considering the times. Nothing through the roof incredible but, it doesn't need to be. It's a go-to Chinese spot that hits the spot!

Delicious food. Quick delivery! We always get one of the family special combos and it's a great value. Ordered delivery and pick-up many times and it's never missed the mark.

Couple of things 1.- when you order , you can do it through the phone or online through their website if on the phone cash is the protocol but if online card is accepted , no rudeness just business wise 2.- the staff very friendly they treat you as a customer not as another sale 3.- dishes have good taste it depends on what your choice is for that day 5.- I enjoyed mine , I’ll be back again to get another dish

I have had my eye on this location for some time now, maybe a couple years or so, but the opportunaty or desire for Chinese food hits me only relatively infrequently, and Mon Lung is a bit of a walk from where I live, I decided today was the day, I wanted some Chinese cuisine, or rather Chinanese American cuisine, the origins of the dish I was craving is somewhat disputed. In any case, they currently only offer take out (order in restaurant and wait and take), pick up (order by phone or online, and pick up food) and Delivery (order by phone or online and food comes to you), given the current state of things can't say I blame them. There is plexiglass shield if you are doing take out or pick up. The staff was friendly, can't say helpful as I knew what I wanted and I knew they had it, but I am sure they would have been if I needed help in deciding or additional information. I got my standard fare for testing out a new Chinese restaurant to me of Beef Chop Suey and a couple of egg rolls. I get this because it was the first actual Chinese Dish I actually bought with my own money back about 26 or so years ago, and I have fond memories of that dish, though some of that may have to do with how much MSG was in use back then. I have come to accept all the different combination of ingrediants that can go in the dish, and that no two restaurant use the exact same list of ingrediants. The chop suey came with plenty of bean sprouts, some mushrooms, little cabbage, some celery, and bamboo shoots, and off course beef in this case, in a light savory enhancing sauce. The only addition that I would have found to make the dish better would be the addition of somehthing with a little crunch to it, say like water chestnuts, though this isn't a deal breaker. There was enough beef in the dish to make it's price point worthwhile, the dish itself was tasty, everything was cooked to perfection. I would rate the dish at somewhere between 7.5 to 8 with my memory of my first sampling of chop suey. The egg rolls were not bad, but could have been a little better in my opinion, all in all, I found the meal pleasant and enjoyable and I do plan on revisiting their restaurant again in the near future.

My order was done on time, the staff were polite and friendly, most of all safe. They have pick up and delivery. Good parking in front of store passed the bus stop. Great food the small orders aren't small at all, a large can be shared easily. I have no regrets or complaints at all. Loved this place 100%

This has become our new favorite Chinese takeout place, and it's been really good each of the three times we've ordered the past couple months. Haven't tried out too much of the menu, but they deliver on the classics on the one Singapore Vermicelli dish is great. Good prices, good food, and it's been ready to pick up about 20 minutes after ordering. They also have a good pickup system that shows they're taking COVID protocols seriously. Would recommend it.

i have been going to mon lung since i went to high school across the street (mid 90s). i got my husband hooked on this place when we lived in ukrainian village. we live in rogers park now and will make the trek across the city for their food and it is absolutely worth it. everything i’ve had from them is great but their mongolian beef is highly recommended. a hidden gem. the family owns the place is always so friendly and in these times it’s really important to support small business. i love you mon lung! never change! also, i’ll probably see you this weekend, lol

I have been coming here for years and it is always my go to! I've introduced it to my friends, and they have all loved it as well. The egg rolls and spicy chicken fried rice are a must!

Very mediocre. The fried egg roll was horrible and the fried rice lacked any substantial flavor. Orange chicken was decent but wouldn't have it again.

Ordered take out online and first things first, the website was so easy to navigate and made ordering quick! Delivery was quick and all the food came PIPING HOT which is my favorite. The portion sizes were huge - we ordered enough for 6 people and there were only two of us (yay left overs!). I LOVED the pot stickers. There is only one other place i know of (in the burbs) that has thick, plump dumplings like these! We have been trying different Chinese places in our area for over 2 years and i think we have finally found our go to place!

Always great food, fast, hot, NOT your ordinary "run of the mill" Chinese food restaurant. Excellent menu. Definitely worth stopping in, grab something to go, or dine in they have ample tables and booths.

The food was good, not great, but holy cow do they give you a huge portion. No skimping at all. I was happy with my shrimp and egg drop soup. When we were there, a bunch of police officers also stopped by for dinner, so I suspect there's something on the menu that's really really good, I just haven't figured out what it is yet.

Large selection of dishes, large portion servings and very delicious. The prices are reasonable and the servers are friendly and attentive. The place itself is small and quaint nothing fancy just basic decor. Street parking is a challenge since there are four other restaurants within a one block area. Enjoy your visit.

UPDATE: it is 2019 and they deliver! I still don’t mind walking into this place though, because it’s still a favorite. In the Chinese desert known as West Town/Ukrainian Village/Wicker Park, this is the only oasis. And wow, is it ever good! There are several greasy carryout places in the area, but nothing is half as delish as this place. They have hands down the best Hot and Sour soup in the city AND the police eat there. That says something too. If only they delivered. . . .

The foods good, prices are alright, only downside the waiter and I couldn't really communicate, he brought some soup out I didn't ask for, i was trying to tell him i didnt order it, he kept saying i did, i gave up and just paid for the soup but left it on the table.

Excellent food in a very casual setting. This very nondescript decor hides an intense and flavorful selection of menu options. Frequented by Chicago's Finest is proof positive that the food is good and price is fair.

This is my go-to place for chicken and broccoli in Chicago. It's just the way I like it. I had the crab Rangoon and it was weird, so maybe just stick with the C&B.

My grandmother owned a pool hall across the street and every week as young children my whole family would gather at the pool hall just to eat shrimp fried rice from Mon Lung. I am now 37 years old and live about 1 hour and twenty minutes away but I can assure you that if Infind myself in Chicago for work, I am going to stop in and get the best egg rolls, fried rice and beef chop suet in all of Illinois. I have traveled allnover the U.S. and this amazing little restaurant feels like home to me. My grandmother Estela loved the food and above all the owners and their kids. Don't miss out on a truly so authentic meal!

Best Chinese takeout in West Town. The only delivery service they use is DoorDash. Been going here for 5+ years. It's family run, quick, and freshly prepared every time. Food is packed in the foldable white cardboard boxes or plastic rectangular carryout containers. Carry in a paper bag with plastic utensils and some soy sauce packets plus fortune cookies. The prices are reasonable for takeout, but delivery is much more expensive. The large portion is good for one if you're really hungry but is usually enough for two meals. My favorites are Mon Lung chicken and Hunan chicken.
