Authentic Jamaican Oxtail. Full of flavor in the sauce and the rice. I swapped the cabbage for mixed veggies. I loved the plantains. I only wish there was an extra plantain! I highly recommend this place :)

I had the whiting fish. It was just okay. The portion size of the fish was not worth it. That said, I have had other items and was satisfied.

We spent over $70 for food on a SUNday, about 5 pm. We ordered a large n small oxtail with some drinks to go. The oxtails were EXTREMELY salty, extremely salty, the rice was a little salty. I could not complete the food, due to the high salt content. What happened, ? Who is doing the food prep ? Too much salt !!! Took away the taste of what oxtails are, flavorable and tasty, NOT today. Sunday June 30 2024….Please Fix this, it is a big problem.

At our annual family cookout my cousin travels the 30 or so miles to make sure we have their delicious food. My favorite is the shredded cabbage and the fish that goes with it, not sure what it's called but I will find out. Please all go and see for yourself. 😋

I've eaten at the restaurant on 2 or 3 occasions. Never was I disappointed! Loved his fish dish made with peppers and a slightly sweet sauce. The restaurant caters my friend's annual picnic. I strongly suggest that you try the curried cabbage or the pumpkin soup. Everything is freshly made and tastes delicious.

15/10 This food was so flavorful. I’m sad this place is in New Jersey and not Detroit so I can’t eat there all the time. The service was amazing and felt welcome the minute i crossed the door way. Got jerk chicken and shrimp spicy and the spice level was on POINT! All of the sides were perfectly seasoned. Highly recommend this place for sure! Cool old building and the town looked really nice too!

Morgan AND crew treated us this past Friday night like they knew us for decades never mind the food was incredible. Not a bad amount of oxtails for the to go order. The sweet bread could’ve been a little bigger but I’m satisfied with it. Ordering on the phone was quick and the food was hot and ready to eat when I arrived to pick up.

Jerk wings very tasty, oxtail yummy

We’ve been going here for the past three years. It started off good, but over the years, the plantains weren’t ripened enough and this is important as the oxtails and rice and peas and cabbage are too salty. The meat is extremely tender, though. My mom had a nosebleed from too much salt after eating the food. Just tamp down the salt a bit or add some coconut milk while cooking, to the rice and peas. They are great with service and atmosphere, but well, maybe I should order something else and still give it a try.

Wonderful family owned place serving authentic Jamaican food, fabulous flavors and opportunity to try lots of dishes with their platters. Recommend you try it especially if you know you like JA food

This spot is great for any occasion, they even offer catering. Food tastes delicious, definitely worth it! I wasn’t able to finish my meal in one sitting, as there was a decent portion of food for two people🥰🥰

This food was so amazing I live in Philly but I was working in the area. It was spicy and I couldn’t get enough. It was delicious and because I work up here frequently I will be back, I have to try everything on the menu. And the owner or the guy who helped me was so kind and welcoming.

I ordered a catering variety buffet for the visiting high school students at Princeton University again after they enjoyed it in December. Even as students and staff were filling their plates, the students immediately returned to the buffet for their to-go containers filled with jerk chicken, beef patties, yellow rice, and salad. They remembered just how great the food was last and didn't want to chance not taking any of it home. Delicious Jamaican food!

The calypso catfish was delicious. The sides of rice and peas, cabbage, mac and cheese cornbread, and the taste of oxtail made me feel like I was back in Jamaica. The owner was so nice to us for our first time visting. Wishing I lived closer. One love, one people, one family will be back!

I ordered the curry chicken with rice and peas and cabbage with plantains and corn bread. The chicken was very salty to much adobo and sazon it tasted more like chicken from the bodega in trenton from D&A. chicken had little bit of curry flavor. The cabbage was not flavored it had some red season that made the cabbage taste like something else not cabbage

This is a fantastic spot to travel at least through your tastebuds. The combination of spices and flavors in their dishes are definitely a treat. The staff are sweet and personable too.

I've been coming to Morgan's for years now, but over the past few years the food quality has gone down hill. At one time I believe the owner cooked most of the food and now that's not the case. Jamaican patties are the easiest way to rate a Jamaican restaurant and his are too hard and way too flaky. The food is also very salty and overpriced. I know he has another restaurant which makes it hard, but I think he needs to get back to basics.

I need to ssy this in all caps. THE ABSOLUTE BEST JAMAICAN FOOD I HAVE EVER HAD IN MY LIFE. Literally everything I have had from here has been 5 stars! The BBQ Jerk Chicken, Stewed Chicken, Oxtail, everything on the menu is amazing! My only complaint is that this place isn't closer to me. If I'm around the area I will always stop but man! I would eat here multiple times a week if it was closer! I LOVE THIS PLACE!

Morgan is indeed awesome! My family and I recently had a child dedication ceremony, and we decided to hire Morgan for catering services. I must say that he was extremely helpful in every possible way. We are truly grateful for his assistance. Morgan is associated with a family-oriented and loving restaurant that serves delicious food.

If I could give no stars for this visit I would. Firstly, hours online stated 11am. I showed up at 11 and the doors were locked, I tried calling and no one answered but there were clearly people inside. I waited until 11:25, then walked to the door again and was told the restaurant was not opened until 11:30. At 11:40, the door was still locked. I had to knock on the door for someone to open it. I proceeded to order and was told nothing was ready except for rice and any order that included meat of any kind would take another “half hour” to prepare!!!!! This is the worst experience I’ve ever had here!

Main Street now boasts fantastic Jamaican cuisine, bringing much-needed flavor to the area. My personal favorite is the Rasta pasta. Occasionally, I opt for the oxtails with an extra serving of cabbage.

Bought catering from Morgan's for a highschool event at Princeton University. All of the highschoolers and their mentors kept raving about how delicious the food was. There was a good amount of left overs after the event. Once I alerted the building to free Jamaican food, people came in droves to create a plate.

Curried Bones! I ordered curry goat but received mostly bones. Needless to say, very disappointing for a medium sized dinner that cost me over $30! I was one of the original patrons of Morgan's when he opened his Hightstown restaurant and the food was delicious! Over time, the cooks changed, as did the flavor and authentic Jamaican taste of the food. What I had today, besides the bones, had sweetness to it and the cabbage tasted like onions and was way too crisp. I have intermittently taken chances over the years with Morgans...sometimes it was good, a few times not so much. This last time would have to undoubtedly be the worst! I am confident in saying, I will never eat from Morgan's Island Grill again.

I went to Morgan’s Island Grill for my birthday with my brother and my dad, and the chef, Mr. Morgan himself came out to greet us & wish me a happy birthday. We left with a complimentary gift of his own personal Jerk Sauce, and got to taste the fried chicken and chicken soup, on the house. The atmosphere and hospitality it top notch. You can tell he cares about his food and puts love into it. My dad was a chef his whole life and was highly impressed by the quality and freshness of the food… and he’s not one to be easily impressed!! As a family that does not eat out much, my 83 year old grandmother was complimenting how tender the oxtail was. She is a picky eater and she enjoyed the cabbage, plantains, cornbread and ribs! The chicken soup and fried chicken was PHENOMENAL and I recommend it 10/10! Thank you Chef Morgan, we will absolutely be back!!!

Love this place, the food is fantastic, a little pricy but you do get good size portions. Everything I've had was soo good.

From North Carolina, I called and asked Kenroy to cater a (2nd) repast for my cousin in East Windsor, NJ, with only 4 days notice. We expected about 30 - 40 people to stop at the house over the course of the afternoon, following the service and repast at the church. This food was delivered to the house on time, hot and ready to serve: bbq ribs, oxtails, curry goat, flounder, rice & peas, macaroni & cheese, steamed cabbage, plantains, & cornbread! Everyone raved about the food. It was everything and more than we could ask for. With much appreciation from the ARTHUR-WHITE family, we thank you!!!! P.S. We used Morgan’s for a repast at our home. The food was excellent. We had oxtail, BBQ ribs, curry goat, fish, plantains, corn bread and cabbage. Everything was delicious and plentiful. The whole family and our friends enjoyed it. Thank you from the White family.

This place use to be one you can count on for AUTHENTIC Jamaican food. My guy Morgan has fell off. No Jamaican's in the kitchen pure Santo ah cook the food not saying they can’t cook but won’t be able to master it. My wife just ordered Jerk Chicken with Mac N Cheese for $26 and change and it wasn’t worth the price. This use to be my spot cause all the ones in Trenton are trash 🚮 seems like it’s just high prices and a bunch of sauce to cover the food. Smh A WASTE OF $26 dollars and 20 minute drive.

WE really miss this place. We moved to Arizona 2 years ago and there isn't a single Jamaican restaurant within 100 miles from here.

Nice, neat and cozy atmosphere. We had rice and peas with curry goat and oxtail which was served with fried plantains and cabbage. The food is delicious and the service is good. The owner was present cooking in the kitchen and was very pleasant and friendly. I will definitely go back if I'm in the area.

I called this restaurant in the morning for an order of catered amounts of food for a small gathering of 10. Morgan the owner was very accommodating. He even called when it was close to pickup time to make sure we were going to be on-time because he didn't want to have the shrimp cooked too early. The food was AMAZING! The portions were large and everything tasted delicious. We specifically loved the ox tails, yellow rice, rice and peas, plantains, corn bread and curry shrimp. We will be frequenting this restaurant!!!!

Fantastic Caribbean food! We had Morgan cater my husband’s birthday party. We’re fans of the restaurant and couldn’t think of a better meal at his bday party. The food was awesome and everyone asked for the details of who catered! Morgan was great to work with, it’s a family business and he does a lot of the details himself. The end result was a lot of happy and full people…asking for take away containers 😂

I love Jamaican food but it’s so hard to find so when I found this place I was so excited. I was blown away the food here was incredible 10/10 recommend. I had the bbq jerk chicken dinner and it was phenomenal! My boyfriend never had Jamaican food and he ordered the oxtail and couldn’t stop raving about how delicious it was !

I would rate them higher than 5 stars if it was possible. I used to eat here all the time, but have moved away from the area unfortunately. But, through friends that still live close by, I get some good food periodically when they bring it to me. If you like Caribbean food, this is the place for you. Kenny is a culinary genius, and one of the nicest people you will ever meet. Everything I've ever had there, from jerked chicken, jerked fish, beef patties, curry chicken patties, wings, has been spot on and absolutely delicious. My personal favorite is the ox tails. They are some of the most tasty bites of food I've ever eaten. Every time I'm back in the area, I make a point of stopping in for fabulous food. When I'm not in the area, I think about when I can get back. Absolutely the best.

Just fabulous. Some of the best food from the islands that I have had anywhere. The jerk wings appetizer was outstanding and spicy enough to feel but not so spicy as to rip your insides apart. I had an oxtail roti as a main course which was both huge and delicious. Our server was super-friendly and this contributed to an all-around terrific experience.

I went there yesterday with my family after my son's graduation. The food is fresh and delicious made when ordered. The portions good i got large jerk barbecue chicken peas and rice. Well, everything we had (party of four) was delicious. Portions were generous. Nice non-meat options for some of our party. Genuinely hospitable and welcoming and attentive service. Even got to meet the cook! And reasonably priced for the quality & quantity.

Sit down or take out casual restaurant with delicious and spicy Jamaican options as well as some fusion dishes. Many vegetarian options and delicious sides (the rice and peas are great). Super big fan, the prices are great, the servers and owner are incredible kind and welcoming and happy to explain things or moderate spice based on what you like. Will return.

I would like to start of by saying, Morgan’s should say they serve Jamaican food with a Hispanic twist. Everyone in the kitchen is Hispanic so it’s not authentic Jamaican food and it definitely doesn’t taste like Jamaican food! Now I have been eating at Morgan’s for years now, but I think he is getting too comfortable! Over the last year the food has not been the same, but it was still ok. But today I ordered a Roti and an order of Stew Chicken and it was very disappointing. My Roti skin was put in the microwave which made it hard and the stew chicken was rubbery. This restaurant really needs to get it together it’s to expensive for them to be serving food out the microwave.

Morgan's is no longer serving Jamaican food. I am not sure who is cooking the food at Morgan's, but it is not seasoned with the standard Jamaican seasonings. The rice and peas looks like Haitian black rice sprinkled with pink beans. The jerk sauce is too spicy and taste more like spicy barbecue sauce and they douse everything with it. I am no great chef of Jamaican cuisine, but when I try my hand at Jamaican food with an online recipe, I get better results.

They catered an event today at my job. The host was friendly and pleasant. And OMG the food was absolutely amazing!! The mac and cheese, rice and peas, oxtails down to the sweet plantains! I'm so impressed. this is definitely the best Jamaican food i have ever had!! Kodus to Morgan's Island Grill.

We love this restaurant! We've gotten take-out from here several times. We drive 20 minutes to pick up food from here. And it is totally worth it! The owner is so friendly! And the food is delicious! You can tell that they take a lot of time and care to prepare their food.

My Club frequently orders from Morgan's for various events and we have always been delighted by both their food and their service. Mr. Morgan is absolutely amazing, he is very gracious about working within out budget, he personally ensures that we receive all our items and he frequently gives us extra food. All of our members love his food and I can attest that Morgan's has the best Jamaican in South Jersey. If you are looking for a reliable caterer or you just want a nice meal, Morgan's is definitely the place to go. (Try their oxtail!)
