I’ve lived in France for a long time, and unfortunately, this is not French food. It was heavy, old-fashioned and flavorless. Nothing about the dining experience was French. The wine list was embarrassing (cheap plonk and mostly American wines). We were sat in an extension that smelled of mold and was way too warm. There was no music or anything to create an ambiance. Overall, it was just disappointing.

Our dinner at moulin rouge was outstanding. Our service from host Larry and server Maria was so attentive and personable. The quality of the food far exceeded expectations — something you'd really only expect in a large city or France itself. We had wine and Scotch, Pinot noir and speyburn to be specific, both of which were superb and very reasonably priced. Couldn't recommend is establishment more!

Always delicious. The Chicken Florentine is one of my favorites and didn't disappoint! The onion soup was perfect, also. Had a bite of the beef wellington and...wow. Amazing.

Yes, you will see the Can Can, but that’s like saying I saw the Statue of Liberty so I saw New York. This show overshadows anything from Broadway to Las Vegas. Absolutely eye-popping costumes, skilled dancers, and acts to defy gravity. All in a luxurious setting. I was mildly interested in going but now it will be a not-to-miss with every visit to Paris.

Local family owned authentic French restaurant. From host to chef are so friendly and welcoming. Cozy atmosphere and great food. Everything we ordered was timed perfectly and food was delicious. My favorites was their French onion soup and desserts.

My wife and I have been going to The Moulin Rouge every Valentine’s since 1992. Always great! We had an appetizer of the escargot, entrees of the filet and scallops casserole. We split the creme de menthe parfait. The cocktails are well made and the staff is most pleasant!

Reservations were made for Valentine’s Day dinner.We arrived and were seated immediately.The restaurant has a few small rooms for seating ,we were seated in the last room maybe 6 tables in that room.It was a little chilly in that room, Our waiter Ryan introduced himself to us.Ryan was very polite,pleasant and very knowledgeable about making our evening pleasurable.He asked how are day was,Wished my husband and myself a Happy Valentine’s Day.Ryan took our drink order and returned quickly.We then placed our entree order skipping the appetizers which looked delicious.Ryan kept coming back to check if we needed anything while we waited for dinner.Dinner arrived I ordered Steak Au Poivre which is finished at the table by flambé, my husband had scallops which were excellent.I can’t say the last time we enjoyed such a great meal and night.We we’re not rushed by any means ,being a very busy night.Thank you Ryan for everything you did to make us comfortable and to enjoy our night.

My husband and I went here when we got married and have gone on our anniversary every year since. It's a tradition and we love this restaurant.

The restaurant was excellent. The staff was welcoming, service was prompt and the food was delicious. The restaurant offers a nostalgic charm, the kind of place for special occasions that you went to as a child. But the menu was extensive and offered selections that were varied, perfectly prepared and charmingly plated including seafood, beef, chicken etc. I went with a few friends and each of us was thrilled. The restaurant is that kind of place that insulates you from the pace of the outside world and makes your night out special. Highly recommend.

SCRUMPTIOUS all around. Warm , cozy atmosphere. Extensive wine options, very attentive and kind staff ( we had Larry who truly made our night special and was very knowledgeable of the menu). Do try the escargot and the creme bruleé - you'll be happy you did! 10/10 - can't wait to be back!

My husband said it was the best French onion soup he has ever had. Our server was fabulous and a true pro! It was a cool throwback to the way remember restaurants with the decor and wood panels. We will definitely go back and I will try some other dishes.

Reservation at 700 1 hour and half we finally got our food took half hour just for our drinks never again

Had a family gathering (12) people. Called ahead to make sure it was OK and it was. Everything was very good from appetizers thru dessert. Waitress was fast and friendly. She even made the payment an easy and straightforward process. Everybody said that they enjoyed everything and would like to do it again next year. My wife and I will be going back often. 👍👍👍👍👍

Headed downhill -- This establishment had been a family favorite for decades...no more. Our party of 6 recently went on a Sunday for a celebration. 1 waitress/barstaff person on staff. Slow service. Ordered drinks, appetizers and meal all at once given the lack of attention. Took over an hour for the meal to arrive. Meat (ordered medium rare) came medium well. Fried shrimp "dinner" came with 6 shrimp and nothing else -- no salad, potato or veg...for $29. We could not wait to leave.

Sunday pm dinner at 6 for an intimate dinner for 2. Beverages ordered and delivered 20 minutes later. Solo waitress was rushed and obviously overwhelmed with a nearly full house by 7 pm. Salads brought to our table after we had to ask for them, despite arriving before many others. We asked for our check before the entres and waitress indicated she was alone for so many tables. 15 min later she brought out large tray and set it next to us and walked away. So we served ourselves. Food was good, no rolls offered, would have been nice. We feel bad for the waitress, it’s a hard job and she should have had 3 people helping her crowd. Will not return, it’s overrated.

I have been eating at this restaurant for over 30 years- last night my husband and I wanted to enjoy a nice “romantic” dinner to celebrate our Anniversary. We both had enjoyed their food and atmosphere in the past so it was an easy decision to make. Well- it was an epic disappointment. NO music- so I YouTubed my own dinner music - for real- when I asked the waitress she said it was an internet thing! Extremely dull lighting too- I ordered a glass of wine which tasted like it was turning—-The scrod which I love eat was room temperature from the kitchen- They now charge $7.00 for 1 baked potato with sour cream- they also charged us for our small dinner salads- mind you the waitress made no mention of these up charges either- same menu from the past years- my husband’s meal which he loves to eat is the delicious “peppercorn steak flamme bay” this time it was smothered with peppercorn beyond normal amounts not sure what happened in the kitchen??? They are famous for their French potato side dish cooked in chicken bouillon cubes- normally my husband loves these well last night the sauce had chunks of bouillon cubes in with the sliced potatoes- like what happened in the kitchen last night??? We will never know and will not be back anytime soon…….

We really enjoyed it! Excellent service by Carrie who has worked there 38 years. Food was wonderful and atmosphere great. Enjoyed the Caesar salad, onion soup, beef Wellington and lamb. We’ll be back!

This is such a hidden gem. It's a restaurant that is actually inside of an old home, so the atmosphere is cool for a unique dining experience. It's definitely not a "trendy" place or somewhere for the young kids. But wow, this food is unbelievable. Service was amazing. I had the stuffed scrod, and my husband stole half of my meal. Love meeting my parents over here for a nice meal. Also, the Jack and Coke in the photo is the size of a regular size Coke 😳

Just awful, no redeeming qualities, expensive plates of subpar quality food!!! Nothing says fine French dinning like ritz crackers in individual wrappings!! Their super French sounding potato dish can be summed up as “boiled potatoes and onions” literally that’s it. The family style vegetable came out as 1/2 cup of canned corn and carrots….. the cheesecake was more like a soup as the bowl was filled 1/4 way with watery strawberry juice. Staff was rude and forgetful…. Just an awfully bad place, staff, food and decore wise…. 1 star is generous

Moulin Rouge is the perfect place for an anniversary, birthday, Wednesday night, or whatever other reason you need to splurge on perfect food. The food is easily the best in town and could be one of the best restaurants in the state. I have never had a bad meal and the service is perfect every time.

Wow, this place left me speechless! I didn’t even get to take a picture of my food before I devoured my seafood puff. The scallops are DIVINE! The deserts were lovely as well! Try one of their specialty coffee’s, you won’t be disappointed! The cozy atmosphere and great service was the cherry on the top. Give this place a try if you’re in the area.

Service always good. Meals are very consistent. I am a cheese lover so I like the cheese and crackers. My only suggestion is to maybe come up with another side. We had filet, was cooked to order and delish. I would give 4.5 stars if possible. I feel like the ambience could use a refresher.

Great Food Nice Place, Comfortable

Many would regard Tiverton as a poor cousin to adjacent upscale Newport, but you don’t have to go to Newport to experience an excellent French dinner! It’s humble exterior appearance on Main Road, Tiverton near route 24 and quaint 1950’s-era knotty pine interior should not be misinterpreted as indicative of the genuinely excellent menu and dinner choices. There is a quiet, folksy atmosphere to this family-run restaurant that creates an informal ambiance for a quality home-cooked dinner replete with extras included in the meal price: Pullman dinner rolls and butter, salad with choice of dressing, vegetable of the day served family style, and choice of potato with the entree. We ordered the Beef Wellington (a filet mignon with foie gras) that was perfectly cooked medium-rare, the broiled shrimp (butterflied with lobster stuffing), and a side of mushroom caps in sherry, which was sizable. We ended the dinner with a delectable crepe suzette for two in an orange/tangerine sauce served flambé table side, and a cordial-infused coffee. It was a simply magnificent dining experience made all the nicer by our personable and attentive waitress, Samantha. This was our first dinner at Moulin Rouge and we will definitely be back—a pleasantly surprising 4-5 star dinner at a very reasonable price!

Decent/average food. Old charming house. Really slow service. Type of restaurant you leave stinking like food. Wouldn’t recommend.

The menu is creative and ambitious and the presentation is good. But the duck was slightly overdone and the shrimp just past it’s prime.

Having been a favorite destination for many years, sad to say quality is not the same and now lacking for the price and expected fine dining. Everything previously had been fresh and delicious. They now use bagged salad(not one olive) commercial snowflake rolls, some frozen vegetables unless you opt for a premium side, i.e. asparagus $6. canned gravy, etc. Not worth the $35 for Filet Mignon with low quality sides. Surcharge added to credit card called a convenience fee without notice until bill received following meal. Bad business practice to treat 25 year customer this way. Small profit gained by this fee, not worth the total loss of future business.

An elegant place for an evening dinner. Excellent fare, but decently pricey. Good service, and friendly staff.

Food was excellent! Atmosphere was very very relaxed. The food does come out slowly, this is not a fast food type of restaurant. There was 8 of us and we were there for 2 1/2 hours. The dishes come out nicely timed and worth the wait and price.

We were here to celebrate our 44th anniversary. It is quite an eclectic place. Meals included all the fixings which was nice. We ordered the Beef wellington and the Fillet Mignon. I was very disappointed in the Fillet. It was had to cut and even harder to chew. I brought most of it home and the dog got 1/2. While we were there we found out the restaurant was going to close for a month for vacation. Had we known that we would have waited to go. We will try it again but not order the beef. The place was busy with locals.

My wife and I and my mom had a great Valentine’s dinner. It is a limited menu but with many fine choices. The chef will also cater to a reasonable request. We had appetizers of French onion soup, escargot, and seafood stuffed mushrooms. Our entrees included veal Oscar, scallops St. Jacques, and chicken piccata instead of the listed salmon. We had a crepe de menthe parfait and rice pudding. Everything was well presented and nicely cooked. The pace of the evening was very comfortable. Definitely one of our most favorite places!

Very good food the atmosphere is reminiscent of the cafe's you would see in France. My recommendation is take your time enjoy your food you will definitely want to return for another visit.

If I told you how long I have lived in the area and never been here for dinner you would not believe. But it was this time a prefect location for dinner and it's reputation is well deserved. There were four for dinner and everyone enjoyed their meals. It was comfortable and warm which is important in enjoying the dinning and the waitress was nice and attentive. Meals were priced between 15 and 30 as I remember, I enjoyed the baked stuffed shrimp and the sides dishes were tasty and as good as homemade. Go and enjoy.

This was our first time at this restaurant for our 10 year anniversary. Yes we were there 2 hours but it was amazing. The seafood stuffed mushrooms and the shrimp dish were so good. Great service, great food and can't wait to go back for another special occasion.

We had a wonderful dinner here. The only down point was a large family gathering that were boisterous and loud. They left and our meal improved! I had the Lobster Newburg which was fantastic. Hubby had the snow crab. Excellent! His daughter had the chicken who raved about it. Service was excellent and swift. This restaurant is 5 stars jin my book!! Would definitely go again if in the area!!!

It was ok not what I expected little over priced

Exceptional food quality and service is excellent as well. Small, and homey is how to best describe the atmosphere. A little pricey but expected for good French cuisine.

This is one of my wife's and I favorite restaurants which we visit on a regular basis. Good food, great menu, and a romantic atmosphere. French dishes are especially good. Desserts are excellent. Prices a little high but not unreasonable. Service is always good. Cheeses and crackers are provided and meals come with a salad.

It's the best o my God the best ever

Went by on a Friday night a few weeks ago. First time for us both. Beef Wellington being on the menu is what brought us in, since it’s my boyfriends fav! We both got it as our entrees and it was amazing! Appetizers were good too & they have the best caesar dressing! Our server (sue? I think) was very sweet and attentive! Thanks for a great dinner, will be back!

Over priced for just "okay" food.

Went on Valentine's day so to the kitchen's defense it probably was on the busy side. The decor is rustic with knotty pine walls and traditional family style furniture, tight dining rooms... no frills there. That doesn't really bother me though because I put the quality of the food and service before decor. On Valentine's day at least, the service was about a B-. The food was a B. If my filet mignon had come out rare as I ordered it instead of medium, the food would be an A-. Going with 4 stars because I did like the food.

There was nothing appealing about Moulin Rouge — the food, the service, the drinks, the ambience, the cleanliness were all subpar. Not certain what the draw is as the parking lot was busy, coming and going. As bad as the poor service was, the food was demonstrably worse. Just an absolute horror.

First off, the chef did an awesome job with our meals - very delicious. We were taken aback at the rudeness from the wait staff and how they gossiped - very inappropriate. If I were to take cost into consideration, it would be overpriced only due to the wait staff and the blatant negative attitude. maybe an off night, however- no return for me

Great atmosphere, great service, great food!

The place is weird inside hasn't changed in 40 years,we went there two years ago and had a good meal, ordered chateaubriand for two and enjoyed it. Tonight we ordered the chateaubriand again and we were served two small filet mignon steaks carved by the waitress. That is ridiculous! We could have ordered two filets for $10 less - basically we paid $10 to have a server cut our food. The sides are all poor as well. Won't be going back.

Moulin Rouge is a throwback to the 60s. Wood knotty pine paneling, cheese wiz and crackers in a little packet. Rolls, two vegetables and potatoes come with the meal, all vey well done. We had a French style potato, broccoli, and ratatouille. My duck was very well done with orange sauce. My wife's chicken francaise was cooked moist but seemed to be missing something you'd get from a fine restaurant. Prices are very reasonable, noise level was moderate and the staff was efficient if not very friendly.

I had always wanted to stop here and after many years we finally went. There is only one other place in RI I have been served canned veggies and poor quality food, but I am not going write about them. I am utterly surprised they have been in business for so long.

Thus is my favorite restaurant of all time. Always consistent with there food. The staff is great, been there for ever. Service excellent. There menu, with the French flair is just wonderful. So lucky to have a quality restaurant right in my hometown.

Delicious French and American food!

If you like your food in any/all kinds of sauce this is the place for you. Old time restaurant with old wood paneling. Still worth eating here if you don't feel like cooking & you're not wanting a healthy meal.

The service is always mediocre with staff forgetting who ordered the over cooked vegetables and it goes down hill from there! Entres were inconsistent. Some in our party had well prepared meals as described on the menu and others did not.
