Worst customer service.... restaurant closes at 9:30, we entered at 8:40 the guy who was working directly yelled at our face like we are about to close.. Thats not at all good. Not recommended

Used to eat here all the time but the place seems to have gone downhill. Warm drinks, dirty glasses, tables and chairs in disrepair. Inattention to water refills. We couldn't figure out why our sauce had no spiciness until after the meal when we found all the spices in an inedible unmixed lump at the bottom. And they seem to be using coconut milk instead of cream, which makes their sauces really sweet and "slippery," as opposed to rich and creamy. Will probably not return.

The service was amazing. I was there with my three year old son and the gentleman running the dining room spent so much time humoring him. Answered all his questions, kept turning the fans on, and was just a delight. The food was also very tasty. We'll definitely be back

The food is horrible, some curries are too salty and others are too sweet. The Naan was the only thing good. Again the food was horrible it was rather tasteless. The interior is super dirty the plates and utensils are covered in dust. I thought it was going to be great but the reviews are misleading. There is only two parking spots I have no idea what the other comments are talking about. Also the prices are not updated. Very disappointed.

took about an hour for my food to arrive. The guy that works here went to the bathroom and did not wash his hands. The food is pretty alright.

We absolutely loved the food here. In fact, we ordered it both nights we were in town. The chicken tikka masala in particular was excellent – the flavors were very complex. There were great vegetarian options, available and everything we had was excellent. You won’t be disappointed if you order food from Mr. Indio. 5 stars !

Usually get take out and the food is always great.

We got the aloo gobi and chicken biryani and it was incredible, they double checked about spice levels and it was great!

Overall a wonderful restaurant! I once had a delivery issue and they took care of it. Absolutely wonderful people. And the food is wonderful too. Vegan options.

Absolutely best Indian food I’ve ever had! Mr.India is a wonderful and incredibly friendly man! The chicken vindaloohot is the perfect amount of hot for me(very spicy).

In terms of Indian food, I would say this is probably your best bet! The owner is super nice, and the menu is predominantly northern Indian.

This place is tired. From the entryway to the restrooms, it needs a good cleaning. The food was alright. It is not worth going out of your way for. The service was pleasant.

One of the best Indian meals I've had. I asked the waitperson what his favorite dish was and he recommended the Aloo Gobi. It is now also my favorite Indian dish. My dining partner had the Dal Tadka which was also yummy.

This place has gone down hill. Notice all good reviews were a while ago. Place is dirty in need of repair and food was Luke warm not very good. Over priced.

Ordered vegetarian samosas and chicken tikka masala on Thanksgiving night (one of two open places in Newburyport). We have high standards and we LOVED the food. Samosas didn’t have that usual overfried taste, and the tikka was excellent. Highly recommend. Also a very kind staff.

We always have an amazing dining experience at Mr. India! The staff is super friendly and the food is fresh and high quality. My favorite dish is the vegetable korma. Staff members go above and beyond to ensure dining experience is superb!

Dank dreary and not very clean. Area carpets covering ripped seats and table glass was smeared with food.. We arrived ahead of a couple and another man but our order was taken after both of the other parties. No chutney orcracker bread. Food was cold and mediocre at best our bread was served to another table it took 15 minutes to get someones attention and there were only 5 tables filled. They charge 7% food tax not the usual 6.25% bill was over $50 we ordered 2 dishes and one bread 2 sodas no alcohol. Very over priced compared to other Indian places we visit. It has really gone down hill. So sad.

Tidy little restaurant on the corner of State St. I SO wanted this to be a wonderful meal but it was really disappointing. The food WAS generally tasty , but a long time in coming and only warm. The menu is a dinner menu and we went for lunch. We had to ask about lunch specials of which there was only 1 and we were not shown the special but it was described to us. There were three ‘thali’ dishes, rice and a nana bread. The rice was white rice and I would have expected basmati rice at the very least, or pilau rice, not white. The naan bread was flat, greasy, and more like a chapati than a naan bread. All in all a disappointing meal.

Get to go Chicken Biriyani, the taste is good and enough quality. It would be great if the wound have served with raita but no complains.

We were greeted by the super nice owner who served us perfectly. The chicken korma had a perfect spice and the naan great flavor. Totally recommend and would come again!

Ordered Tandoori Chicken, Tandoori Tikka, Lamb Korma, Chicken Korma. All very nicely done - our party of four shared around. Meal came with rice, korma, and masala sauces. We will absolutely be back. Plenty of parking in a very walkable town. (And yes, by all means, do a walkabout.)

We were excited to try this restaurant for the first time and we will not go back. Entrees delivered to the wrong table and then picked up and moved to our table. We had to ask for wine to be delivered part way through the meal -they forgot. They brought our check before our meals came out - naan came after we were finished eating. The food was average - service was poor. Not worth the time or money.

One of the worst experiences so far. The restaurant had a very weird smell, plates were not clean. We ordered momos, chicken chilli, chicken korma, veg korma, chicken curry, to my surprise nothing was good. We were so hungry still we couldn’t eat the food.

Worst ever Indian food! I don’t know about the other reviews but seriously! Hands down the worst Indian food. Joke! The service was good. I don’t know his name but the uncle was good and helpful. But for Indian people this food is garbage. Everything was sweet and too much vinegar. Veg momos were salty, chicken korma was like sugar syrup, there was some weird bad smell.

Very disappointed! First of all, all the staff looked miserable! Not a smile from anyone! 30 minutes into our visit, they tell us that they are out of lamb for over a day now. Both of our dishes needed to be changed. They should have known that up front. At this point not even our bread came out. We decided to leave and never come back.

Ordered chicken Tikka masala mild and garlic naan for take out. Sauce was too sweet. It didn't taste authentic Indian flavors to me. Garlic naan was ok but burnt on one side. We split one order to try out the place and sure glad we did.

The food was amazing, I totally forgot to take pictures of my food. I had the chicken madras and some coconut nann. I showed up about 45 minutes before closing and they still served me happily. Definitely going back!

First time having coconut naan and it was delicious! Chicken Tikka masala was flavorful and cooked well. Tried the Kathmandu chicken chili which you have to have with the sauce, great flavors and well cooked but it changes everything to have the sauce. so few chunks of chicken in the tikki masala it's offensive AND it's sooooo salty. ordered rice when I didn't need to because entree did not say it came with it. garlic naan is bordering on burnt. coconut naann just taste like plain naan AND it was placed in the same foil as garlic naan (garlic can taint other flavors). didn't receive my mango lassi so I can't comment on that. won't be coming again. *Used door dash*

My favorite spot for Indian food. The owner, and his family, are all super nice. I've never had a bad thing from here, and they're super convenient to order online from. Also, when you order something spicy, THEY MEAN IT, and I love them for it. Delicious pain followed by a soothing lassi is a guilty treat of mine.

Went there for lunch on a Wednesday. Quit put the food was great and the staff was very good.

Had a reservation. Waited 20 minutes for drinks, then another hour and still no food and no check in or communication. We finally left without receiving any food after sitting for one and a half hours. Never again. The restaurant was about half full

I was disappointed in our meal. We ordered the shrimp vindaloo and a potato spinach dish. The vindaloo was odd tasting. The shrimp themselves were not fresh-- and the sauce was much more vinegary than I recall from other vindaloo dishes I've had. The vegetarian dish might have been nice but it was not piping hot and the nan came out very buttery looking and a little on the stale side. Overall not a great experience. I don't think I'll be returning.

Their chauchau is basically $0.50 ramen packet cooked with the ramen seasoning and overly salted lamb mixed into it. Everything was so salty it hurt my mouth. The only flavor was salt, almost like they used no other spices. I know they had to have used other spices but you can only taste salt. The rice was oily and undercooked. Terribly disappointing food. I can’t remember the last time I was so disappointed. Cannot speak to service, because we were basically ignored the whole time. They didn’t even come by to refill water or even give us the check. They also charged each entree one extra dollar relative to the price on the menu. It’s only one dollar but the right thing to do is tell people before they order. Save yourself the time and money.

Six star service! We ordered chicken tikka masala and it was delicious with generous portions and flavor. It was so good we forgot to take a picture. The guy who served us was very kind and helpful. I also love the decor. We’ll be sure to return!

06/21 Finally received a refund…. 6/15 Update, Mr India kept my $ after I returned the food and EatStreet the company ordered from states to get a refund from the restaurant who says get it from EatStreet. Both are THIEVES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Food Delivery was an hour late, pakora was so greasy, tandoori veg was soggy and tasteless… Took me 12 minutes to drive it back to them and then told take up the refund with the on-line company, it was not their fault for delivery delay (they are the one’s who delivered it)… Dont go here so gross, should have learned my lesson the last time….. Amazing food - Extra Amazing Service. To start , the restaurant has been constructed so beautifully that the chimneys from the kitchen emits beautiful aromas right on to the road and you are drawn inside by that magical aromas.. We ordered the following 1. Veg thali - It had such huge variety in 1 thali. Alu gobi , paneer sag ( kinda like palak paneer see photo for reference ) , mix vegetable , chole , Ample amount of rice , and butter naan. Every bite tasted like heaven. Especially the Alu gobi tasted as if it was straight from a Dhaba . Deserves a 6/5 2. Samosa chat - We were a party of 5 people. The samosa chat plate was wiped clean within minutes. Amazing taste. Well plated and had the perfect combination of spice and tanginess. 4/5 3. Chicken 65 : Being a Gravy-terian I couldn't taste it but the feedback from others was ' fingerlicking' good . 4. Another Veg thali - We couldn't get enough of the first plate and had to order another one. 5. Another chicken 65 - No comments needed 6. Momos : There was no Veg - Non veg combo but the server Mr. Lal Bahadur was kind enough to offer us a half and half, and since we were a party of 5 he offered to give us 10 moms instead of 8. How amazing is that. The Veg Momos tasted just okay. But not that bad . 2.5/5. Non veg momos had a better feedback . 3.5/5. I just wished they had Mayo to serve with the Momos. Yes I am one of those who eat Mayo with Momos. 7. Butter Chicken : The butter chicken which was served was very sweet. On request he changed the half eaten dish and replaced with a entirely new dish,which from my past experiences I never expect from Indian Restaurants here in USA. The new dish again tasted straight out of a dhaba. So buttery , perfectly spiced . Just yum 5/5 8. Mango Lassi : Thick Mango lassi with a good natural mango flavour. 4/5 Special Thanks to Mr. Lal Bahadur who provided with such amazing service that I could write on and on about this amazing restaurant. I had lunch at 3 and didn't have the capacity to eat dinner.. Cherry on top : They had Saunf ( fennel) too. Perfect way to end a meal for every Indian . Just go and experience their food and hospitality for yourself.

We enjoyed our authentic Indian dinner at Mr. India. We had a spicy noodle dish with shrimp. Very good. Not a lot of atmosphere but that’s ok when the food is so good! The place is sort of run haphazardly but they seem to make it work!

We don’t know what happened tonight but our dinners were SOOOO salty. I love salt but it completely overpowered the other spices. And the Samosas were very good but almost all potato hardly any peas but were very good. The pastry was delicious as was the sauce. I ordered the Tandoori Vegetables and the description included yogurt and cheese but there was none to be found. Still tasty despite the salt. It was take out so we didn’t have an opportunity to give feedback.

Fun and unexpected dining out experience. Service and staff were friendly and knowledgeable in making suggestions when asked. The food was delicious - hot , spiced the way we asked and more than generous portions. We had the steamed MOMO dumplings and the Puri - pillow bread. Madras Chicken and Chicken Tikka were our main courses - so so good. Rice Pudding for desert and honestly it was the best rice pudding I ever had - cold and creamy. Tonight we had shrimp korma and chicken madras, coconut naan. Amazing flavor. Live music was entertaining (just a tad bit loud). A nearby table ordered the Tandoori Tuesday and aromas filled the restaurant with the best smelling Indian food I've smalled in a long time.

Visiting my parents from NYC and I am blown away by this place. We got take out, and the food was incredible, made with care. Will be making this a regular stop on my visits. Highly recommend!

My drink was Mango Lassi, no " Lassi come home!" jokes please, and my entire meal was delicious. The portions were good. My chicken was served on a hot skillet. A delicious gem for Indian food in Newburyport. We loved the special luncheon plates that had a combination of 3 different curry flavors and meats. There was my favorite chicken Tikka masala, a slightly sweeter shrimp curry, and a divine spicy lamb dish in a vindaloo type sauce. The price was super reasonable too.

My go to place for the best Indian food in town! My favorite is the vegetable curry. I enjoy every bite of it, once or twice a week! Everyone is always very friendly and to go orders are made fast and correctly! Make sure to pick your spice level!

BLOT: please visit without any 2nd thoughts. Initial impression when I saw this restaurant over Google map was whether I should really visit this, because the images were really suggesting otherwise? When I entered the restaurant, I still had an apprehension because it looked a little shabby. We ordered naan, saag planner , dal makhani and vegetable biryani... Splendid ! Crispiest naans in New England... Great curries ... Reasonably priced ... Don't think twice ... Do visit 👍

Excellent homemade recipes for the lesser known Himalayan food variety. If you've never heard of chow chow (not the dog), I highly recommend you give this noodle dish a try. Food can be made to order and the cooks will customize the spiciness to fit your palate! No other place like it and we'll be customers for life ❤️

This was my first experience with Indian food. Our visit started off heading in the wrong direction. We were seated at our table and the first thing we noticed were how very dirty the glasses looked. When we put them aside we were questioned as to why & when the answer was that they were looking a little to dirty the glasses were removed. The gentleman then got us cleaner glasses and water. We then waited about 25 minutes before he came back and asked us if we wanted anything to drink. We ordered a couple of beers then waited another 10 minutes before we received those. When the waitress finally came around to take our order (we hadn't received our beers from the guy yet) she asked us if we wanted drinks in which we replied that we were supposed to have some on the way. We ordered our meals. He got the chicken Tikka masala & I got the lamb Tikka masala & an order of Garlic Naan. We finally got our beers and were ready to order another by the time our food came. I was hesitant but when it got to out table I was very impressed with how tender the lamb was & how delicious everything all together had been. If it weren't for the rocky start and the wait time I would have given this place more stars. I will most definitely go back

I moved to the the area after covid started so I have never eaten here in person but it's my favorite place for Indian takeout. Delicious curries and breads. Update: The weather is warmer now (May) and they do have some outdoor seating available. I ate here with friends last night and everything was perfect. Very friendly staff too.

Mr. India is a super nice guy and the food is amazing. The naan is fresh and made there...not bought in a store. I highly suggest not ordering the food online but instead calling if you want to pick it up. Otherwise you should just eat in and have the full experience. The food is very good...recommend the Samosa Cake appetizer.

Visiting Mr. India was a complete immersive experience where we learned so much about the dishes, ingredients and culture. All dishes are made to order so whatever your taste, there is a dish for you. Nothing gets closer to stepping into a warm, welcoming home-cooked family dinner.

I love Mr India. I ordered food from them tonight and I received such exceptional service. The service is so exceptionally friendly. And the food is amazing. Even though they were crazy busy, every member of the staff I encountered worked hard to make sure that I received my order in a timely fashion. My server was so patient and kind and overall they are a wonderful place who deserve your business!

In our ongoing effort to support local restaurants, this week it was Mr.India. Absolutely fabulous flavors, and wonderful people to deal with. Would have been 5 stars, but our order forgot to include our samosas, and we don’t live close enough to drive by and pick them up, but in the spirit of good customer service, they will be no charge on our next order. The Chana was superb, the tandoori mixed grill delicious, the lamb jalfrezi yummy and the chicken madras was soooo good. We will definitely be back.

My wife and I love the food here. LB and Ram are great hosts and make dining here a great experience. The samosa chat is a nice way to start your meal. We have been here many times and looking forward to many more visits.
