Good food. Slow service but friendly staff.

Very friendly staff, big portion and great taste. I tried the Bulgogi Stir Fry and would definitely recommend it.

It’s just ok. Tteokboki, fire chicken, and spicy pork were not spicy at all. The tofu mushroom dolsot was too saucy - would have been better if less sauce was added. The seafood pancake was also a bit lacking in seafood and too much batter.

Run, don't walk. This place is incredible. I kid you not, my 5 year old said they have the best dumplings he's ever had. The bulgogi bibimbap is the star but the spicy fried chicken is also amazing. I can't wait to come back and try other dishes. The service was also really great. I will definitely be back.

Went for dinner. The staff was friendly. We were seated fairly quickly (under 5 min) sat down and provided water. They did not ask if we wanted anything else but no big deal. They provided a platter as a free app, contained kimchi, pickled cucumber, and two other items (potatoes and tofu?). We ordered and within 10 min we had our food. The Korean fried chicken was great, the fire cheese chicken seemed to have the same sauce but was less thick and the chicken wasn't fried (not a bad thing). The fire chicken came with rice. Both dishes were above expectations, well prepared, full of flavor. Once done we were provided slices of watermelon which was a great addition. We were in and out in about 30 min which was great for us. No complaints, would highly recommend.

Food was quite pricey, as expensive as Korean restaurants in LA or New York but the quality was very average. The most disappointing part is that they charge EXTRA 4% for NON-CASH payment which is not desirable. This is the first proper sit down restaurant I’ve ever been where charges such hidden fee in my entire life time in the US. Yet, the owners seemed to be Koreans and they were nice to customers. Restaurant looked relatively clean too.

We came in a group of 6 people 30 minutes before they closed so I expected for them to be slightly disencouraged to serve us but the owner greeted us very nicely and answered every question we had about the menu. While we were waiting on food he came up to us and gave us free watermelon slices. Truly remarkable customer service!

I traveled from New York and came to Philadelphia. I found a Korean restaurant here. The food is delicious, just like in Korea. The owner is very kind ^^ Please guide me through the travel course~~ It's the best!! I think I will come again!!! It's best.

The bulgogi dolsot bibimbap and vegetable dolsot bibimbap were both really delicious and the portions were generous. It was hearty and good to eat warm on a rainy day today. There was plenty of street parking in front of the restaurant, and it was a great meal in many ways.

A hidden gem. Rare to find good Korean food in Philly, and this one really hit the spot! The side dishes were on point and the tofu soup was really flavorful and spicy. Service was great too, the owner gave us more side dishes when he saw that we finished them. Would come back again!

This was a very good experience, we just wanted to have a simple lunch, but the owner and staff here gave me a very good experience!

Sometimes you have to abandon what you know (burrito, hamburger, lamb kabob) and try something new like bibimbap (pictured) which means mixing of cooked rice with cool stuff mixed in. Seriously though, a few new places have opened up on the block: no knock on Rosy's Taco Bar, but you just might feel more satisfied at Nam Chon (Korean). The hot bowl/pot cooking technique puts their bibimbap dishes over the top. Come down towards the east end of South St. and check it out. The chef/waiter will give you a free appetizer assortment sampler for your enthusiasm.

It tasted just like the one I had in Korea! The owner is very friendly, the food is delicious, and it is clean. I would 200% visit again~~!! The meat dumplings are really delicious! So delicious!! In general, fried foods are delicious! I don't often eat fried food outside because it's not that tasty, but it was actually better than eating it at home! I ate Dolsot Bulgogi Bibimbap and my friends ate different dishes, and all of them were delicious:-)

This is the first Korean restaurant I've been to in downtown Phila, and it was clean and the food was very delicious ^^ The pork and kimchi stew is a bit sweet, but it's a rice thief... I emptied a bowl of ramen and a bowl of oden, and then ate a bowl of rice in the kimchi stew.^^ I was so busy eating that I couldn't even take a picture ㅠㅠ

I have been and ordered a lot in a different Korean restaurant but Namchon is the best! Their bibimbap, bibimbob, and tkeokboki with cheese are the best that I can eat all day every day!

The best fried chicken I've ever had!

The interior is surprisingly sleek and nice, there's some booth seats and high chairs as well. We enjoyed the scallion pancakes, the dipping sauce was great. My japchae was the perfect texture and well flavored, my son's ramen was cooked just right and the boneless wings were nice and crispy. Looking forward to returning!

Wonderful place. I’ve eaten at Nam Chon a few times- takeout and dining in. Both are fantastic and everything I’ve ordered has been incredibly fresh, hot and fantastic. The owner is really kind. Definitely dine in for the best experience. Kimchi and dolsot!

This was pretty good. I’m kind of picky and ask a lot of questions about what’s inside the food. Sadly they don’t do a good job of describing the ingredients in the meal, so I just had to try something new… overall I enjoyed it and everybody inside was nice. We got ramen, beef dumplings, and beef bibimbap. The dumplings were okay but I wouldn’t get them again. Ramen and bibimbap were good. Bibimbap has avocados? Mushrooms? Beef, rice, spinach. I’m not sure what else.

Went there on a snow day at like 2pm and we were the only ones there. The owner was so kind and hospitable to us and even gave us some tea that was not technically on the menu since we had come in out of the snow. The food is honestly some of the best Korean food I have had, and definitely the best in Philly. Very cute spot and I love the decor.

We were lucky to have the owner of the restaurant as our server. He was an absolute delight to talk to. He gave us complimentary food and talked to us about his food. He also shared with us the best ways to enjoy the meals we ordered. Everything was fantastic and tasted amazing!

The food was out of this world! Me and 4 friends decided to eat here on a whim and the owner was one of the best hosts I have ever seen. He gave us recommendations as well as explanations of each dish, most were home cooked! I personally got the tteokbokki (homemade sauce) and beef ribeye dolsot. I got some mandoo for the table and it was the best beef dumplings we have ever had. The owner also brought us some free kimchi pancakes that were also phenomenal.

Fabulous food, amazing service, a great place to experience Korean food. We were wandering down South Street and needed to eat without knowing what we wanted when we saw this place. The food here is fabulous, the owner is attentive and a very nice person and I have now been there twice. The menu is illustrated which for a novice Korean food consumer is a good start. I am planning to go back, in fact it would attract me into the city.

We got the Soonsal Chicken and the Tofu Kimchi Pork Stir-fry with White Rice. It was really good and brought out pretty quickly. Since it was emptier there was mainly free seating.

We had an amazing meal at Nam Chon. Cheese Tteokbokki, hot stone Bulgogi Bibimbap, and the seasoned chicken wings. Everything was incredible and the spice level was great, not too spicy but delicious flavor.

Cozy & welcoming neighborhood Korean spot with thoughtful service, genuine hospitality, delicious food, relaxed atmosphere, and beautiful decor. I had an early dinner here with my husband and was very very happy with my experience. Dolsot Bibimbap, Brisket Kimchi-jjigae, Bonchon, and the Egg Soup were all delicious! Highly recommend.

The total experiance was amazing...but the food was absolutely incredible. I went for my first time and wanted to return the next day. The owner was so cool and incredibly real and down to earth he even made a special dish for my baby girl. This place deserves every one of the 5 star reviews.

Came here with 2 friends, at the beginning we weren't sure about this place as there were no customers and it was about lunch time on a weekend... We decided to try though and what a pleasant surprise. Food was excellent, 2 of us had bib bim bop and one more had a kimchi soup and all dishes were (chef's kiss) delicious. Not to mention that our individual portions could've fed 2 people. The cherry on top were the side dishes that we were given, one of which was expected to be had (vegetables and kimchi) but we got one more FOR FREE which was not in the menu and just served to the patrons that were eventually coming into the restaurant (I knew about at least 2 more tables that received the same treat).

This place was worth the drive all the way from the Poconos. The owner is so sweet and kind. The food was so impeccable that I started eating before I could take a picture. I ordered the beef bibimbap and was not disappointed. The service was immaculate and Sam and his staff are truly a God send.
