We come to Tupelo 1x a year for NPC Total Body Championships competition. This year we gave Nautical Whimsey a shot. Y'all, I love this place. The service is great. The food is amazing. I ordered the 8 oz Filet with the crawfish baked potato for my entree. Delicious. We will be back next year!

Was very good. We were late getting there, and we didn't have to wait. Being our first time, I think the waitress should have explained the serving sizes to us, but it was delicious and we will go back.

The staff here is very polite and attentive, but this was possibly the worst dinner I've had in a long time. My family ordered salads which came with way too much dressing, followed by pizzas which had soggy crusts and too much cheese. Mine came out so poorly that it looked like a deflated football instead of a pizza. Just a hot mess dumped on a plate. My kids refused to eat their pizza, saying it was gross. I actually had to make them something else later. Very disappointing.

Out of towner visiting local family. Loved it! Portions are generous, marinara is sweet, but not too sweet, was very good. Meatball appetizer was huge and delicious. Daughters dish was with Vodka sauce, it was the clear favorite among the 5 adults at the table. Best vodka sauce we've ever had! We're trying to find a way we can get their sauce here at home in San Diego. Can't wait to visit Tupelo again so we can visit Nautical Whimsey.

Have ate here before and it was great, but this time was turned away because they were supposedly closing early (which is crazy when I get there at 8:33pm on a busy Saturday night and they are supposed to close at 10).

Be ready to eat, very generous portions. I only had fried ravioli appetizer and I splurged and ordered two desserts, the limoncello cake and creme brulee cheesecake. Great atmosphere! I was there on a Friday and sat outside in the alley to hear live music. Service was wonderful! Absolutely lovely restaurant!

Just ate here from out of town and may I say you get what you pay for. Can’t even eat half of it it’s so good…chicken parmigiana and tiramisu

We came during lunch time and were looking forward to a nice Italian meal. The restaurant appeared pleasant enough and we got seated right away. The food is why I gave this restaurant two stars. The serving sizes are large but the food is very disappointing and overpriced. It also looks unappetizing. I ordered the fettuccine alfredo (a basic dish)and got fried breaded chicken strips with fettuccine heaped on a plate. It was confusing and unappetizing. The fried chicken strips tasted old. I only took a few bites before I settled on eating bread. The menu does not have any descriptions of the food so I had no idea the chicken would be fried chicken strips. Given that this isn't how its typically made, a warning would have been nice. The chicken wasn't even presented well. It was literally fried chicken strips (similar to those found in a fast food kids meal) on pasta. My friend got the spaghetti and meatballs which was equally disappointing. The spaghetti came with a large meatball. It was rubbery and tasted bland. I've never had a meatball with such an odd consistency...The pasta was just okay. It's hard to go wrong on spaghetti and meatballs but they managed it. The food was definitely not worth the price-even with inflation. Everything tasted like leftover food. Hopefully this was just an off day....We went here based on the reviews. I'm not sure how this place got such high ratings...I've had much better Italian food for half the price. We will not be returning.

Absolutely wonderful! You must order the Italian Nachos for your appetizer followed by the Filet or Lasagna. You will not be disappointed.

Huge portions! Tight spaces were a little tricky to navigate. Food was delicious.

My favorite local Italian restaurant in North East, MS. A must try if you are looking for a simple date night, lunch, or dinner with family. Great proportional serving of taste Nautical spin on Italian cuisine. By fare the best, eye-popping meat ball starter, toasted ravioli, or fried cheese starters that can be easily paired with the best lasagna in the region. Oh, did I mention the tastiest proportional Greek salad any restaurant will serve. You will not leave hungry by all means.

I wish I could say our first experience here was great, unfortunately it was awful. The first thing we noticed were the very small pours of wine for what you are paying per glass. When the fresh bread came out, with a wonderful dipping oil, it was so good that we were really excited to get our dinners-my husband ordered chicken parmesan and I ordered the lasagna. The food covers the entire plate and I am assuming they want people to be awed by the quantity because the quality was terrible. There was a lasagna noodle on the bottom of my plate, followed by well over an inch of plain, unseasoned meat, then one more lasagna noodle topped off with at least two inches of ricotta cheese. I had to ask for a side of sauce because there was barely any on the lasagna. I have never seen lasagna like this-it was basically a huge plate of plain ground beef and a ton of ricotta cheese. The chicken parm was bland with no seasoning but there was a ton of it. Lastly, the live music in a place this small is so loud you cannot have a conversation so forget talking to your partner while there. Will not go back as neither of us could eat the food and would prefer quality over quantity any day.

This is my 2nd time eating here! First time had the steak special and it’s wonderful.a year later finally got back in and idk if every weekend is same special but that was the special.but not what I was going for and just looking at google the menu was long and found what I wanted!but after getting in and early is better on weekends.but menu was short and sweet and was told the food I was looking for hasn’t been on menu in a while.it seem there top eating items was what you choose from!good choices for the love of pasta dishes!me personally pasta dishes are not my first choices but I wasn’t by myself and and pasta dishes are why we were there and they agreed all great.but imo the stars of the show are the appetizers fried cheese balls are large portions and are delicious if I’m guessing I would say 2.5lbs and cheap and it’s a meal!the meatball appetizer seemed to be 1lb of meatball with absolutely the best sauce with bread and cheap!I ask about other appetizers and there all big portions.not a lot of craft or local craft beer choices the atmosphere is quite cozy not very big guessing 20 tables.our waitress maddy was very intentive polite knowledgeable about the menu.doesn’t take long for appetizers or main course.great little place excellent food service but a shorter menu than was expecting imo I like!just had my stomach set on something that wasn’t available anymore but I think just enough to cover your Italian fix.need more craft beer. I will return.

Very noisy. We were seated at back table and several people were standing around us waiting for carry out orders all the time we were eating. Food was less than tasty.

So good! Bruschetta couldn't be more recommended as an appetizer. I could go back for it alone for a light lunch!

You'll get a lot of food. Be hungry. The meatball on the spaghetti is 1lb of meat. Lasagna is half a pan. Enjoy.

Growing up in an Italian neighborhood I love sampling Italian fare in other parts of the country. This restaurant was the worst I’ve tried and in 69 years that’s saying something. The spaghetti and meatballs was horrific. It had been stuck back in the microwave a little too long and I’m not sure what the oversized round object was but I would not have fed it to a dog. The manicotti was about a 2 but had also been microwaved. The gnocchi was uneventful and tasted like something you might pull out of the freezer section at the grocery store. Staff was friendly but food took forever.

I can’t say enough great things about this restaurant. The portions are enormous, the staff is friendly and attentive and the food was excellent. I’ve visited Italy several times and these folks are just as good as any place I’ve eaten at over there.

Outstanding flavors. My husband dined in and I got leftovers 2 hours later. The fried cheese was an absolute favorite! It was well seasoned and that hunk of cheese is just mesmerizing. The Eggplant Parmesan was really flavorful and the spaghetti was perfectly cooked. Plus, the sauce had great flavor and held well to the pasta. A definite must if you want some excellent food.

This was the second time we ate here. Both times we had a great experience. The first time we ate in the alley and it has a nice ambience. This time we are inside in the back. It also had a nice vibe. The food is really good.. we’ve eaten at many Italian restaurants.. some in Little Italy. And this place meets and exceeds the bar they set. I had the meat ravioli and my husband had the shrimp gnocchi. Both were excellent!

Atmosphere is very nice- I loved the look with exposed brick. Servers were very polite and attentive. The food was AMAZING and the portions were so big, I had enough to take home, definitely fair priced. Cannot wait to go back and try something else off of the menu!

I was very much looking forward to dining here as it came recommended and I had tried several other times and they always seemed to be closed. We had three dishes and none were terrible but none were even average either. The Caesar salad had a nice dressing but there had to have been a cup of it on the salad. The salad consisted of two cups of croutons ( I kid you not, I wish I had taken a picture) and maybe a cup of romaine. Too much dressing, too many croutons, too much cheese, not enough Romaine. The prosciutto scampi was the best tasting dish but the noodles were overcooked, I mean way overcooked, they were like mush. How can an Italian restaurant serve way overcooked noodles? The lobster Ravioli had so much sauce and instead of them being called lobster ravioli they should have been called lobster flavored cheese ravioli. I literally had no bites that looked or tasted like there was any lobster meat in them at all. The service was also just OK, had to ask for the salad and lemonade well after other diners in our party had their drinks and salad. Sorry to say but we will not return.

I ordered the 8oz filet ($42.00). When I placed my order I specifically told the waitress that I did not want the balsamic on top of my steak. When they brought my steak it was smothered in balsamic. I took a couple of bites but I decided to ask the waitress to please redo it. They actually just rinsed my steak off under the sink and brought my steak back to me. So I spent almost $60.00 for a steak that tasted like sink water. I was highly disappointed........

Just tried to eat here I really love coming here but tonight it was very bad me and my family which was just 5 of us walked in and was waiting to be seated for awhile and this young guy comes up to us and says how many and we tell him and he says all we have is that 4 seater table we can put a seat at the end or yall can wait 45 minutes very very rudely. I don't mind a 45 minute wait at all but don't have to be rude about it so we tell him that's okay we can just go somewhere else to eat and it seemed like it made him mad that we said that. They shouldn't have someone seating people that is going to be rude at all.

Update: Still a wonderful dining experience. They have Angry Orchard crisp apple beverages which are gluten free and very refreshing in the summer heat. Had Italian nachos again. Delicious Italian nachos, salad with steak, and loaded potato soup. Wait time was not long, and staff were friendly.

Nothing but good things to say about this place....the portions were huge and the food was so good. I figure for the atmosphere and huge servings it would be expensive...how wrong I was!!!

Hands down the best food I have ever eaten, excellent atmosphere and excellent service. The owners are by far the sweetest people and you can taste the love they poor into their food. The portions and plates are humongous so you better bring your appetite! I highly recommend this place for anyone looking for a non- corporate, local restaurant. Absolutely delicious!

Kids had the grill cheese and pepperoni pizza. I had the shrimp pasta. Huge servings, food was excellent. Waitress took a break, no problem, but in the future check on your tables before going.

Love live music, but they were too loud for the size of the small restaurant. Other than that, the food was great, very large portions and our service was great.

Had the lunch buffet. All was very good. They build your plate for you, and portions are large. It is like they are serving farm hands. Very reasonably priced.

Got the meat tray and some ravioli myself, and my friend got gnocchi. There was simply too much food to eat it all at once 🥳

The hostess was incredibly rude. This was supposed to be my birthday dinner but it really ruined my night. After waiting twenty minutes I got a call that our table was ready. We headed to the front of the line to be seated and she looked right at us as we were standing directly in front of her and proceeded to put about four different people on the wait before turning to us and saying I’m not sure who was here first but can I get your name. Then some random lady behind us yelled “WE WERE HERE FIRST” which was embarrassing because the hostess was treating us like we cut in front of a huge line of people to get our name put on the list when we were just waiting to be seated. It would have been nice if she would have simply asked “are you on the wait list” during the multiple instances where she looked at us so we could have explained it to her. So my twenty minute wait turned into a 35 minute wait as she ignored us. Now that was just setting the mood for a 45 minute wait for undercooked bread and an hour and a half wait for our food. The portion sizes were outrageous and the food itself was bad. Chicken parm is not three over cooked chicken tenders drowning in marinara sauce. And the lasagna had 10% noodles and 90% gobs of dried up cheese. We asked for Togo boxes the second she brought our food out because it was such a terrible experience. Also there is no room at all multiple servers ran into me along with having to scoot my chair when anyone walked by.

What can I say? You know when you take a bite of real authentic amazing great food? Thats what you feel when you eat here. SO GOOD! Fresh pasta dishes and fresh bread! Definitely could share a plate, HUGE portions. But is there any ither way to do good Italian??? 😍💙

Staff was friendly. Food and drinks were delicious. We had the Italian nachos for an appetizer . Scampi and lasagna for entrees. Tiramisu for dessert. The portions are huge ! We sat at the bar . Enjoyed the atmosphere and live music. .

My husband and I found this place while visiting town for a show. Everything was delicious! Great cheesy bread, yummy lasagna, and some good fresh sweet tea! Each entree is big enough to feed a family of 4. You absolutely want to share. We will be returning on our next pass through Tupelo.

One plate of lasagna will easily feed 2 adults and 4 kids. It is enormous and thick. Everything we ordered was delicious.

This is a very cute, quaint, relaxing atmosphere. The food was 10/10. Portions are so big, that my friend and I shared the chicken Parmasan and still had enough for 2 more meals. The fried cheese is to die for and a must have!! Worth the 2 hour drive!!

An Italian restaurant in an older building with open seating. The staff was polite and constantly checked on us. The food is tasty, and the portions for one menu item can actually feed two people. If you get the cheese ball appetizers be prepared, these things are huge. I had the lasagna and loved it.

Went for dinner last night. Waited at the bar for a table and enjoyed a cocktail. Were instructed 2x we needed to clear our bar tab before moving to our table. We understood the 1st time it was explained. Our table was in a hallway between the 2 dining areas. Did I mention it was 2 feet from the "Office" door, i.e. dishwasher room. I lost count at 37 door slams while we waited 45 minutes for our Filet special. No price was provided so the $63 per dish was a bit surprising. The Filet special was 8oz and a large baked potato covered in cheese and Alfredo sauce. No salad, no bread and no vegetable was included. Oh yes, two more details. The Men's bathroom was next door to the office/dishwasher and accommodated 1 at a time so the line of men waiting brought more special ambiance to the banging door noises. Finally, a cooler was located directly behind our chairs and we were interrupted twice to shift the chair closer to the table to allow for sale of the prepared items. We are happy to pay higher than usual prices given the current economic climate. The positioning of these 2 tables conveys a lack of concern for the dining experience. We do expect a positive, peaceful meal which was anything but.

I am hoping that my wife and I go to Nautical Whimsey tonight for our date night because I LOVE their Spaghetti!

Food was sooo good and workers were all kind. We waited a while to get in, but to be fair it was a Friday night, so that makes sense to me. Pictured we ordered cheese raviolis, the cheese balls and alfredo. Super yummy!

Customer service was excellent. Nice and pleasant environment. Great place for a date night. Food was amazing and authentic ( Xlarge portion sizes). Well worth the time and money spent. First time visiting very pleased.

My husband and I took a little trip to Tupelo to try out a new place and it did not disappoint!!! The portions were huge!! I had the lasagna that could have fed four people easily. My husband had the spaghetti and meatball- it was as big if not bigger than a baseball!! Yum yum yum!!!

If you enjoy obnoxiously large portions of delicious Italian fair, you will love this place! The fried mozzarella is the size of a tennis ball and comes with about six of them. Every entree is more than enough for 2 people, so plan to split one so you can save room for dessert!

Razorback fans in town for trip to Starkville for Saturday’s game. Found this little gem online and it was a delightful experience. The food was delicious, the portions were massive, the atmosphere was charming, and the staff was welcoming, attentive and efficient. The highlight of our meal was the bruschetta, however, everything was amazing. Add the Nautical Whimsey to your bucket list.

Great place to eat lunch in Tupelo. Better be hungry because the servings are huge. I had the fried chicken, mashed potatoes with gravy and green beans. Also tried the pizza meatloaf and the smoked cabbage. All excellent. Even the little chocolate chip cookies they brought for dessert were tasty!

Lobster ravioli in fontina sauce!

Recommended by a hotel concierge, a very interesting non-traditional Italian in a renewed area. Best dishes are Alfredo themed - especially the steak with Alfredo and cheese topped baked potato. Whimsey salad and Meatball appetizers are exceptional. Some disappointments with more traditional parmigiana dishes.

Best marinara around these parts.

I can't say enough good things about this restaurant!! Best sweet tea, best Crawfish Bisque. The catfish and spaghetti were great as well!! Well worth the drive from Sheffield, AL.

Lunch was superb. The buffet was great. They served your plate with ample food. Fish, spaghetti, shrimp and grits, cowboy beans. Could not ask for anything better and it was reasonably priced.

Had dinner on a Saturday night here and it was a good option. We sat outside in the alley and it was very nice. We had our two dogs with us so it worked well for that. The staff was friendly and on top of their service. I think we had Brady as a waiter. Food was pretty good. Ravioli were delicious and so was the Bruschetta. Chicken parm was pretty average, I was not a fan of the sauce. Overall we had a good experience here.

The lasagna is off the charts. Some of the best I’ve had. And the portion size is enough to easily feed three people.

Loved the catfish and slaw and potato salad everything is always good and tasty everyone there is sweet and make sure you feel welcome tried the spaghetti today loved it so I can say that everything I've ate there was great tasting

First time to visit and had the huge portions of fried cheese. Then ordered the fettuccine Alfredo with chicken running over the plate. I have never seen so much food for one order. It was delicious and I have plenty for several more meals. I will definitely be back and recommend to everyone that loves Italian as much as I do! 5 stars for sure!

Great steak and fried cheese balls

Food was awesome, but we ordered the steak- heads up- ask the price BEFORE you order!!! $63 for a small steak. It was good, but way over priced!!! Menu said "Daily special"...no so much!!! Pasta choices were a better price point.

Some of the best spaghetti I've ever had! We went during lunch on a Friday and they had a buffet of fish, french fries, hush puppies, spaghetti, coleslaw, pasta salad and some great shrimp and grits. The servers were very nice and we received great service!

If you are looking for the best Italian food in tupelo, this is the place. The lunch is simply the best food you can get that taste homemade. Dinner is amazing and the portion sizes will have you sharing your food or taking home leftovers. There sauce is so delectable and yummy! Hands down the best Italian food in the south.

FIRST TIME CUSTOMER Food was AMAZING and if I can't make a happy plate then that's saying something. We sat inside at the front and our server was very attentive and pleasant. Highly recommend.

We were really looking forward to a beautiful experience with family. The wait would certainly have been worth for the food if the customer service has been better. Our dinner group was seated then another larger party was seated in the smallest area for dining.A very small space between both tables. The wait staff used as a thorough way to the kitchen. We later found out there were two other entries that they could have used The Manager later admitted it would have been better for the staff to use. The wait staff actually hit me 18 times by bumping into the chair as well as my husband. My purse was filled with the drinks that fell onto me from the waiters tray and all my items, phone, wallets and everything in the purse soaked. My hair was a sticky mess, dress under garments and jacket were drenched. The table and the area where we were dining was flooded with teas and ice. Accidents happen but to be bumped into 18 times by all the waitstaff created a terrible experience. After sharing in a subtle way to the management, the manager and owner decided taking my meal off the ticket (about $15 off of a $223.00 meal was adequate compensation. A 250.00 purse, dress damaged, and. 100.00 jacket, shoes were ruined. Never made a stink about it. However, we will never be back. We are from Texas visiting. We would never recommend this to anyone. I get accidents and mistakes.. but I don’t like it when a business does not take accountability or at the very least, tries to make up for the bad spilling experience by taking measures to avoid further making the evening a bad experience. It was truly a nightmare and embarrassment

Food and service are still the best!

This place was great. Laid back atmosphere. The portions were huge! I ended up taking most of it home, but it was delicious! Definitely will be back!
