Easily the best tea shop I've ever been in. We were able to sample a wide variety of teas, all of which were great. The selection of teaware is also great, from the cheaper stuff that will just get the job done, to exquisite Yixing clay teapots.

Delightful people and teas. They have something for everyone's taste and budget. We had a blast trying these amazing teas and taking home a set to make it just as wonderfully at home!

New Century Tea Gallery earned a solid five star review. Even though the shop had been closed already for an hour, the proprietors noticed my family looking through the window and graciously opened their doors and allowed us in. They offered free tea tastings, with no pressure to purchase anything. We sat there, enjoying the many offerings, while Grace kept pouring and pouring delicious teas for us. The service and hospitality was phenomenal. She and her husband were so nice to my wife and child. Huge variety of high-end teas and teaware. Will go again for sure!

Stopped in for my birthday and had a wonderful experience sitting down and tasting tea. I could not recommend this more if you are in Seattle.

We had an amazing experience at New Century Tea Gallery, the owner showed us several teas that were all delicious. The red tea, pu'er and special green tea were our favorite! Super knowledgable, friendly and kind owner. We can't wait to come again!

I’ve been getting tea here for a few years and they have some of the best in Seattle. While I get tea from a lot of places, this is by far my favorite, always amazing quality. Try the special grade green tea. When properly done, it’s exquisite. Amazing family owned business, they are awesome and will teach you how to properly steep and enjoy it.

You need to come here, you'll have an excellent experience! It's like walking into someone's house and you get the best service from the owner, very kind and hospitable. He's very knowledge for his wide variety of tea.

This place is incredible. I’ve been wanting to visit for a while and my husband and I were finally in the area and had time to stop. The owner has been in business there since the 90s and knows so much about tea. You can tell he is really passionate and enjoys sharing not only his products but any information you could possibly want to know. They have a wide variety of all kinds of traditional teas but I was most shocked at the puerhs he had. Rows upon rows of puerh cakes and clay pots filled with more cakes that are aging like a fine wine. We sat down and tasted an oolong, his family farm black tea (incredible), a ripe puerh, a raw puerh, and a very special purple leaf puerh. We left with a bag full of all kinds of treasures, an empty wallet, and an amazing experience. I’m already looking forward to going back for another visit.

Was a great experience and the owner is really fun to talk to

Here, last year, I had a wonderful tea tasting experience. The proprietor allowed us to try some excellent tea; each cup was special and of the highest caliber. I've since attended other tea tastings at various venues, but this remains my favorite. In other locations, you can feel hurried, uneasy, or under pressure to buy something right away. Nothing like that here! We were given such lovely teas at New Century that I nearly sobbed a couple times after tasting them. The flavors were so lovely and pure; they made me think of several seasons. I picked up some of my all-time favorite teas and picked up a lot of knowledge. I'll be returning soon to stock up for the next fall and winter.

We are novice but curious tea drinkers wanting to learn more about the "gongfu" method. At NCTG we were welcomed warmly, and spent more than two hours tasting several teas and learning about how to brew and serve each one. The tea we chose was expensive, but the experience was priceless.

Dafe was amazing!!! He knows his tea and the tea from his china family farm is some of the best i have had. They dont serve food here but they have taste testing of any tea in the store! Highly recommend 👌

Our visit to New Century Tea Gallery will likely the most memorable thing during our visit to Seattle. My friend and I sat down with Dafe (owner) and got to sample a variety of teas as well as learn about their properities, flavor profiles, and methods of preparation. The love and dedication they have for teas really shows. I never, in my dreams, would have thought we could sample a 30 yr old pu-erh, but Dafe shared a few cups and told us all about it! Needless to say we bought some of our favorite teas and look forward to having them back home. Will 100% recommend this shop to any tea enthusiasts as well as come back ourselves when we return to Seattle.

I am the owner of an online tea shop, and like to think I know my teas... but these people REALLY know their teas! You won't find a better tea shop in Seattle (although if you're an Oolong drinker Floating Leaves in Ballard is also in this tier). The prices are very reasonable for what you get. Be sure to ask a lot of question because unlike most tea sellers, these folk know the stories behind their tea.

Such a beautiful family friendly tea shop and a truly wonderful experience! If you're a Seattle local or just visiting, you do not want to miss this gem! Their selection of tea was outstanding definitely something for everyone. The tea tasting experience could not be beat even my 2 year old son enjoyed tasting various teas. Grace was so nice and extremely helpful she's truly a wealth of knowledge.

I am not going to give detail as the others —but an AMAZING display of beauty in tea serving. Never seen such incredible, careful choices to present to the public and their attention to detail. The pu’er tea on a shelf display had many varieties in beautiful paper and design wrappings. So much more!!

Awesome selection of tea at a variety of price points, and the owner was very nice and helpful. I asked if I could smell a tea and was told no due to covid safety, but she made me a sample to taste instead which was even better!

We visited 10+ tea shops along the west coast and the New Century Tea Gallery was the best experience & tea we had! We were hoping that they would have tea tastings still available and were pleased to find out that they did (with some safety protocols in place for COVID)! We selected a black Bi Luo Chun, black needle & the family green tea to try. They were all AMAZING! And in addition to those, they brought out some nice pu-erhs to sample! We bought the black biluochun & green family tea and the other group we were with bought the black needle & pu-erh! Since we were flying, we didn't have a ton of space for more teas but I will definitely buy online from this store! They have a very knowledgeable staff and high quality teas! I'd highly recommend the family green tea - some of the most aromatic and fresh tasting green tea I've purchased! All in all, this was a great experience and we left with some outstanding chinese teas! Anybody who loves really good tea, or wants to experience and learn about tea, should check this place out! It was the highlight of our Seattle visit!

I found this place passing through Seattle while I was walking around in Chinatown (international district) and I’m so glad I did! The woman at the front (I imagine was the owner) was so knowledgeable and sweet - I ended up buying a new gaiwan for steeping as well as an oolong sampler of which so far, all are delicious! I wish I was around to stop in more often, but I will definitely order from them for shipping.

New Century is an amazing tea shop with the most friendly owners! I've been going here for years now and I haven't had a tea from them that I didn't like. One of my favorites is the moon white puerh. I've also purchased many teaware items and their quality is very high. I highly recommend any tea lover to visit here. Some of the best memories I have of Seattle is having tea tastings at New Century.

I was amazed by the experience, love this shop, bought 80$ 1/4 lb of Ulong ,just amazing taste and smell. Sampled 4 different teas with a friend. Looking forward to going again.

I had an amazing tea tasting session here last year. the owner let us sample some great tea, each cup was unique and very high quality. i have been to several tea tasting since then at different locations, and this is still my favorite. Other places can feel rushed or awkward, or pressure to hurry up and buy something. None of that here! At New Century we were relaxed, comfortable, and given such nice teas I almost cried a few times tasting them. The flavors were so beautiful and natural, reminding me of different seasons. I learned a lot and bought some of my favorite teas ever. I will be coming back soon to stock up for fall and winter :)

A wonderful shop run by delightful people. This is my favorite place in the city to enjoy gong fu tea ceremony and shop for great, soul-warming teas. If you're not sure what you're looking for, don't worry; you're guaranteed to get some excellent assistance.

While much of their selection caters to people with a large amount of money to spend, they have a few selections that are affordable while still being some of the most delicious tea I've ever had. For bonus points, the family that runs the store is really nice.

This place is one of the few reasons I'll venture into the big city, and it is often my only stop when I do go there. It's a small, family-owned shop with a relaxing atmosphere, and it's full of great tea and teaware treasures. The ever-friendly owners are very knowledgeable and always ready with a smile and a cup or two (or three...) of excellent tea.

Great unpressured tea sales. Sit and savor a few cups of tea unlike any you've tasted. Some teas and tea accessories can get quite expensive, but the prices vary tremendously.

Grace always provides a wonderful tea tasting experience. The tea here is of an excellent quality, fairly priced, and exceptionally delicious. The teaware selection is excellent, with gaiwans, tea trays, and yixing teapots. Well worth a visit, plan on arriving thirsty and leaving happy.

Great variety, but not so great quality.

I cannot gush enough over the lovely proprietors of this establishment! Walk in and leave Seattle behind you, fill your senses with everything aged in the best ways; teas, clay pots, wood, and hospitality. Loose yourself for hours at Grace's heavy wooden slab table and traditional Gong Fu Cha. Leave with a 27 year old pu-erh cake.

Courteous, friendly, and very well stocked. The staff know their stuff and can guide you well. Take advantage of their willingness to sample almost any loose leaf in the place.

Our visit here was so wonderful. The owners are clearly passionate about great tea and very knowledgeable. We thoroughly enjoyed the tea tasting, it was such a unique and special experience. Stocks teas that are excellent quality and hard to find, like pu'er.

The best place in Seattle to buy high quality tea for a reasonable price. The owners are super friendly and clearly aim to establish strong relationships with their customers. Ive been refered to this place by many friends, all of whom spoke very highly of the teahouse. To surprise, New Century Teahouse surpassed all of my expectations. This is a place you must visit if you want to sit and drink tea in an old school fashion.

What a fantastic place. They were super accommodating and helpful, but also really low-pressure. They're quite eager to brew samples for customer and take the time to do multiple steeps of the same tea so you can get a really full experience of it. Impressive selection of all kinds of tea.

This place is the best! Literally the best selection of loose leaf tea and tea products that I have seen since we moved to the west coast. They had some teas that we normally have to order directly from China/Taiwan. We spent a couple of hours here, sampling teas suggested by the owners (sweet family) and chatting with friends. Found some new favorites and stocked up on some oldies (but goodies). If you truly love tea, definitely stop in!!!

Its expensive but try the Golden Monkey. If you like Darjeeling you will love this tea.

I really like this place. It's a nice atmosphere, and the staff seems very knowledgeable. The tea is very good as well, and you can sit there and sample pretty much anything. I gave it 4 stars because their marketing was a little bit aggressive. They start with the most expensive tea, and you need to talk them down to a tea you're comfortable paying for. The markup on prices is almost double what you'd pay in China (of course, the cost of everything is double in Seattle). In a sense, this is also a Chinese approach to marketing in a haggle culture. And, I'm sure I come off as a very clueless foreigner. I think I will bring friends here, but probably not buy regularly because of the prices. If you compare what most people pay in Seattle for coffee, it's a pretty cheap habit.

Just go there. Ull see. Have some puh ehr with the owners for awhile. Enjoy the conversation. Bring friends. Awesome tea.

Wonderful tea gallery run by an amazing couple. Newcomers are invited to try as many varieties as they like and the tea is top quality. The proprietors seem to specialize in Puer teas, but stock a wide assortment of Chinese and Taiwanese teas.

Very nice place for tea. Many different varieties and you can try almost any of the teas in the jars.

Mom and Pop (and baby) type shop that was great to visit. Large variety of teas that you might get overwhelmed but the owners are very welcoming and will let you sample pretty much everything! They were open on Lunar New Year and we're pretty busy but we were still greeted warmly and offer many samples that she prepared right in front of us. We loved the large wooden sampling tables that we were invited to sit at.

While wandering around the streets in Chinatown my family and myself walked in more to just see what they had inside. Having been in other mainstream tea shops elsewhere, we really felt welcomed from the minute we walked in and were overwhelmed with the information we were provided by the owners. Once the tea tasting started, we were glued to our seats as we wanted to sample one, but after we got up to bring ourselves back to reality we had sampled eight other blends. Our daughter who does not regularly drink tea was also hooked. This place is a must visit when in Seattle

It's what you think of when you think "tea shop". The walls are lined with tea. The tables are piled with tea. There's warm tea ready to taste. It's wonderful to walk in from the cold and rain and be welcomed in with tea. The green tea I bought here is some of the best I've ever had.

Dafe and Grace have become my family. Their love of tea and friendship is evident the moment you enter the store. Be prepared for a high quality experience when sampling the tea.

Met the owners and they are very knowledgeable about teas. Can sample anything in the store and purchase smaller 4oz to larger quantities. Various tea types have various grades and prices to accommodate the budgets of anyone interested in quality tea. Excellent shop!

The tea there is absolutely fantastic and the guy knows his collection really well. He can lecture you about tea for hours while giving you freshly brewed cups of oolong, Pu Erh, etc. You can ask him to try any type of tea in the store and he will immediately start the ceremony. Brace yourself for drinking at least 15 teapots of the finest tea with him! The prices may seem over the top at first, but for most of the there you only need a tiny bit per teapot so it usually lasts for months.

I absolutely adore this place and make a point of going every time i am in the Seattle area.

Dafe is a master at what he does. He is very knowledgeable about his teas, very friendly, allows you to sample his teas before you buy and takes something seemingly mundane as brewing tea and turns it into fascinating and impressive spectacle and almost an art form. I plan on paying this place a visit the next time I'm in Seattle.
