Great little cozy place for great lunch meals

If I could give this precious place a ten, I would. Love their goodies, all the sandwiches and the rat traps. ☺️

I highly recommend eating at this place. Have been going here 9 years now. Everybody's friendly, It's a mom and pop shop. But the real thing is The food is good. My mother always loved this place. I took her there several times. Atmosphere and quality top notch. A slice of Americana. My last visit with my Mom she requested we go there and get a sandwich and sit on the wood outside. She died 2 months later. Great memory, great food, great service. Thank you.

LOVE their sandwhiches. My husband gets the rat trap sandwhich with extra of their sauce, and I get the turkey on french with mix cheeses. I don't know how long they've been doing soup, but we got the brocolli and cheese, that too was really good. Not to mention they have a big assortment of cheeses and meats for sale.

One of my absolute favorite deli sandwiches in the area. It is consistently good and everyone there is super friendly. They have some very good drink options.

If you want the most amazing deli sandwiches go here I highly recommend the “rat trap” sandwich and the lemon blueberry bars are to die for there a must have .

Newcastle Cheese Shop is always a fantastic place for high quality, tasty and creative sandwiches with super friendly service. But, on a rainy January day, the wood stove was burning in the corner. The contrast between the cold, wet gray day outside and the warm, dry bright fire was so heartening. I was instantly filled with joy when I saw it. We sat near the fire, longer than we needed to, and enjoyed our sandwiches. It was so satisfying.

My wallet fell out of my pocket while I was there and I didn't notice until the evening. Been stopping here for lunch when passing by Newcastle since I first found them in 2010. Always great food, service, and atmosphere. Takes me back to my simple upbringing, a real treat compared to the rest of this God forsaken state.

I will forever call this sandwich shop “the rat trap.” I’ve been going here since I was a little girl with my dad. It’s such a special memory and the sandwiches are so delicious. They are absolutely full of fresh meat and produce. I always ask for a pickle on the side as they are homemade. And always pair a sandwich with their vast selection of root beers. It’s definitely a hidden gem and a local favorite. Please stay open forever.

The staff is friendly, and great at making sandwiches. Meat and vegetables are fresh as is the bread (many choices). The cheese is made in-house and it is rich and creamy. I had the hot Pastrami on french bread and it was the best pastrami I've had since I was a little girl (I'm retired now).

AMAZING SANDWICHES!!!! This is my favorite sandwich shop in the whole wide world! I had been a big meat eater in the past and stopped. I cheat every so often with the Amazing Ham Sandwich they have. Ok, so I am new to the area.... I mean brand new and I bought myself and my entire moving company crew the Rat Trap Sandwich each and half Potato Salad and Half Macaroni and I gotta say, it was just fantastic! The potato salad was, honestly, the best I have ever had and the bread on the Rat Trap (which I suppose gets it's name because once you bite into it you are stuck) is soft and fresh and just delicious. The varied assortment of meats in the rat trap is to die for. Besides all that, the people there are just fantastic. Friendly, nice and service oriented. They made my first experience in Newcastle so pleasant that I am just so glad to be here. If you haven't been, GO! Now that I have been I am going again and again! Congrats on doing it right!

Newcastle Cheese Shop AKA The Rat Trap, to the locals, is a community favorite. It's one of our best kept secrets. Everything is fresh and delicious. I would recommend calling in your order, so you don't have to wait in the long line. Otherwise, arrive after 1 pm to have the place to yourself. As you stand in line, grab your drinks and chips. I would recommend having the cheese shop have order slips ready for the customers to fill out while they stand in line. On the barrel by the door would be an ideal spot.
