Great authentic food ..I had the seafood Paella .One of the best I've had .

I had a fantastic lunch at Columbia Restaurant in Ybor City this September, and my server/bartender Kendall made it unforgettable. Not only was she attentive and warm, but she also shared fascinating historical facts about the restaurant, adding depth to the experience. I enjoyed their incredibly fresh salad with a delicious olive oil blended vinaigrette, followed by the iconic Cubano Sandwich with in-house slow-roasted pork—both were exceptional. Kendall’s knowledge and service made my visit truly memorable. Highly recommend!

We are not from the area and heard they had the best Cuban. It was ok and definitely didn’t live up to the hype. Everything was just average.

Food is great! Had the original Cuban sandwich and Bean Soup. Complimentary bread and butter, enough to split for two. Atmosphere and theming is very pretty and nice. Our server was very helpful and attentive. You also have the option of choosing a charity (that the restaurant itself) will donate 5% of your bill too. Wasn't too crowded at lunch during a week day but we had made reservations anyways. Located in Historical Ybor City District. Lots of roosters roaming around the area too!! Which is kind of crazy! Definitely a must do dining experience if visiting the Tampa area.

One of the best restaurants I've ever been to. The atmosphere, the food, the drinks and the service were amazing. We had Ryan as our server and he was great. He also bragged about the management as family. You can't go wrong here but definitely try the 1905 salad and the Liqueur 43.

We stopped in for dinner the other night and I ordered the Pollo Manchego, I'd skip it next time. The crust was hard, overdone, the rice lumped on the cold plate and snow peas were cold. The waitstaff was very attentive although while we were deep in conversation the waiter kept stopping by and interrupting us instead of waiting until we were finished and acknowledging him. The coup de gras was he asked if we liked Elvis and we said well yes and he said oh that's great I'm actually an Entertainer would you like me to sing you an Elvis song whereas we said no thank you we were having a conversation. If I hadn't traveled to Spain spending several weeks there and dining out every day I wouldn't know but what I had was a far cry from what I experienced in Barcelona which was wonderful.

We went to this place with a group of family and friends. The food was pretty good up until I got my seafood paella. My lobster tasted and smelled like ammonia. The manager did absolutely nothing for trying to kill me. I was sick the rest of the night. Never again. Sept 7th.. Just an update. The Chief Operating Officer from the restaurant reached out to me with an apology and did the right thing. I will be trying the restaurant again and giving it a second chance.

Delicious! The chicken with yellow rice was so tender and just scrumptious. Black bean soup was so flavorful. The churros at the end to top it all off. Will be back soon. The atmosphere is pleasing.

One of the oldest restaurants around with quite a bit going on. Venue can be used for weddings or birthdays. A1 service too!

Great restaurant! It's not exceptional in terms of food, but you pay more for the ambience. Really a nice experience eating there. The service is also great, I can only recommend it. In terms of price, you can quickly reach 100 USD.

I absolutely love this iconic restaurant! I came here several years ago to celebrate my 7th wedding anniversary. I also brought my mother here to celebrate her 5 years of being cancer free in March! This gem is nestled in the heart of Ybor City! The Columbia Restaurant is not just a dining destination but it proves to be a journey through the flavors of Spain and the rich culinary heritage of Tampa, FL! Upon stepping inside, you are greeted by a warm and inviting ambiance, adorned with beautiful tile work and a spirited atmosphere that echoes the history of the establishment, founded in 1905. The menu is a treasure trove of authentic Spanish and Cuban dishes, each one more enticing than the last. The food here is nothing short of delicious. I started my meal with the famous "1905 Salad," a signature dish that perfectly balances flavors and textures. The dressing is zesty and refreshing, making it a perfect precursor to the main course. I had the yummy bread pudding for desert. My mother had the delicious Flan. The service was attentive and friendly, reflecting the warm hospitality that you’d expect from a family run restaurant. Wonderful place, but shady staff kinda ruin it. So, here’s the deal, if I am picking up my food, I am not tipping for service. What service? My bill was $5 heavier than my order amount. The staff bringing food out are deciding to elect their own tips, and being real shady about it. I eat here ALL THE TIME, and I never noticed. This has me disgruntled enough I don’t think I’ll come back.

This place is iconic Tampa. We took a group of seven here and it had an absolute blast. The service was incredible. The food was incredible. It is a big restaurant with lots of rooms. They even have a flamenco show that you can purchase a ticket for while you eat dinner. We did not see the flamenco show, but walked past it on our way to our table. Everything that we had was delicious. We ordered multiple tapas dishes and a main dish each. Drink prices was respectable. Food was delicious.

We usually go to the cafe location on Water Street and really wish we would have this time. We stopped at the Ybor location. Tristal eventually waited on us at the bar. Ordered our food and we asked for bread. Our food came but the bread never did. The Cuban was the absolute worst we have ever had. Minimal filling and the bread was hard as a rock....like it had been sitting around for awhile. Tristal spent all of her time talking with the couple next to us--she never looked at us once to ask is everything was ok or if we needed anything. We had to ask someone else to refill our waters. We have never had such a miserable experience at Columbia. We will only dine at the Water street location now on. We did notify one of the managers.

Absolutely delicious meal. The pitcher of mojito was made table side. The server was delightful. I had the flan and crema for dessert. While they were good, next time I will skip the meal and walk down the street to the ice cream shop.

We live in St. Petersburg and this has been our family's celebration place for over 50 years now! Authentic Cuban fare we can get only at The Columbia in Ybor!! Thank you Bobby & Dave for making my birthday extra special! Although we had reservations; we decided to sit at their magnificent bar. I'd recommend the Empanadas de Picadillo, 1905 salad. Don't mistake the Sand Key location as The Columbia, it's horrible compared to the Ybor location where service is impeccable, food truly authentic; surrounded by the history since 1905 🎉

This is such a big place. The attention from the staff was on fire. Our waiter had been with the restaurant for 6 years. That means a lot for an employer and an employee days. Food was great. I didn't get to try as much as I wanted but each plate they brought to the tables around looked amazing. I am definitely coming back.

If you want to go to the oldest Spanish restaurant in the country, you will be heading to the Columbia Restaurant in Ybor City, Florida. It is a wonderful experience no matter how many times you visit. There are a few Columbia restaurants around Florida. The one at Ybor is the original. Our waiter, Ryan, explained the history of the restaurant with some great facts mixed in. He also explained the menu (which is quite extensive) and told us both the customer favorites and his personal favorites. You must have the 1905 salad. It is made at your table. Each of us ordered a different entrée. All of them were amazing. Definitely make the trip if you are anywhere close to Tampa.

Three women, who eat at Columbia regularly, were all planning to order the fish A La Russa but they took it off the menu. Very disappointed and sad.

The food was excellent! The service was good just incredibly slow. We were a part of 4 and it took us 3 hours to eat dinner. We didn’t order anything too fancy. We just sat and waited and watched other tables come and go before we could finish. Thankfully we were with great company. Just don’t be in a hurry here. One person ordered white rice and black brands as a meal and the server brought 2 sides. Not enough for her at all. And never saw the problem with it. It took so long to get there- she didn’t dare ask for anything else.

This location has been there & owned by the same family since 1905. The building is gorgeous! The food was really good. The service was amazing. Our server Ali had just started but his dad had retired from there! They have nightly Flamenco dancers but we weren’t able to get reservations for that. Don’t miss the 1905 salad! The tableside sangria looked great but we didn’t try it. We would highly recommend if you find yourself in the area. We hope to go back next time we visit.

Went there for a business dinner. Maria was our server and she was amazing! Very knowledgeable about the menu and made great recommendations. Her tempo was spot on: she didn’t come to the table too often nor too little. She knew exactly when to stop by to make sure we were ok (I appreciate this since there was a lot of business talk at the table). Definitely coming back and requesting Maria!

One of the best recommendations we had in the Tampa area.

The empanadas were what I was expecting, though the cubano fall short. The chip plantains are not made in the restaurant, and the amount of meat was disappointing. I arrived at opening time and for an unknown reason, they ignored me and assumed that I was there to see someone from the office. ????? The service was not great either, the server took time to come to my table although the restaurant was empty.

We had dinner here Sunday night, 8/18/2024. I was in the Tampa area and had the opportunity to dine here. Started off with a pitcher of Red Sangria. Then the Original 1905 Salad and Cuban bread. Entrees were Paella "A LA Valencianna", Fideua de Meriscos, Cannelloni de Langosta, and a Cuban Sandwich. The service was excellent. The atmosphere was amazing. When you're there, make sure to walk about the restaurant. It has 3 levels.

Had high hopes of a wonderful experience. The waitress stated how she was so good, that she did not have to start at the bottom and work her way up. Immediately, I made the statement to my family, that is never a good sign. And so: 1. Our son ordered a cup of the Cuban Black Brans, and the 1905 salad. He got 2 cups of beens; and the salad that was prepared next to our table was divided between 3 people. He received the smallest portion because she was bringing his salad back with our meal. THAT NEVER HAPPENED. 2. Husband ordered the Cannelloni De Langosta. The lobster was very dry and tuff. With NO flavor. And the food was cold. So we paid for the full salad that our son never got, and we paid $8 for their mistake of the beans that was not eaten. I will look at the receipt before my husband pays again.

The Flamingo show was very entertaining and a lot fun. Sangria was terrific and food terrific.

Waiters rushing around in tuxedos serving drinks table side while the Latin beats and Spanish decor ooze. Classic Latin dishes like Piccadillo or Ropa Vieja and tapas. Really can’t say enough about the vast selections of menu items. Well curated wine and cocktail list. My son wanted to try a sugar cane stick and our waiter brought three. Attention to detail and desire to exceed guest expectations. No wonder why they are so busy! Great spot, go here. Pro Tip: book the flamenco dancer show for a $10 up charge.

Food there was delicious. And the atmosphere was fantastic. The staff also were very friendly and professional. I had the stuffed grouper and my wife had the ropa. Both were excellent. The only downside I can say is that the free parking lot was pretty chaotic as everyone was driving in laps trying to get a spot as soon as one appears. There's a second parking lot which you have to pay for as a last resort. But still, this restaurant is definitely one of our new favorites and we're looking forward to going back there again soon.

Food was good, service was excellent and atmosphere was outstanding. Very rich and elegant ambiance that has been preserved for 119 years. The appetizers and dessert (white chocolate bread pudding) is a must try. The main dishes we tried were good.

Our food was delicious. I ordered the stuffed salmon with crab and shrimp and it was amazing!!! Our waiter Ernesto went above and beyond in serving us. Mom's order got a bit screwed up and we were not charged. Mom ordered the paella. Ernesto bought Mom a complimentary serving of flan. She said it was delicious ! James the General Manager bought us a complimentary pitcher of sangria. The atmosphere was very nice and relaxing. Ernesto gave Mom a history lesson about the Columbia Restaurant. We can't wait to go back.

Always enjoy eating here. Lunch and dinner are both excellent. Food is fresh and portions are generous. The service is very good. The atmosphere is lovely. It's busy but you never feel rushed. Only issue is there are too many delicious choices on the menu. And save room for dessert!

Historic place not to be missed when in the area.

Okay, yes, I know the oldest restaurant and I wanted to love it but the whole experience was mah. I went with a friend and that part was great. Catching up was so fun, but before we even had three bites of the salad, the entrée came. I had to request a water refill more than twice, never told of the specials, and I ordered the roasted pork with white rice and black beans. I could have whipped this up, nothing special here. Bland and unforgettable. Our waiter, though, had a large group next to us, seemed to forget about us. The appetizer came out cool, not even warm. I went for lunch a few times and those were good, soup, salad,sandwich. But dinner was a letdown. I wish I could give more stars I do, but the meal just wasn't what I expected.

A fantastic experience at The Columbia Restaurant “A Spanish Gem” and it truly is! The original location from 1905 is a historical landmark and experience to tour. The food is amazing! And our waitress, Courtney, was phenomenal! Very attentive, made great recommendations, and hosted us for a tour of the building. I’ve visited the restaurant many times and this is my first tour (recommended by my child’s school) and it was like stepping back to a glamorous time! We even visited the red room where Marilyn Monroe and Joe DiMaggio used to frequent. The Columbia is a must visit in Ybor City for fantastic food, culture, and architecture!

Bread and butter is very good. Shrimp and yellow rice was seasoned well and delicious. Good service. Make a reservation on weekends.
