The food was great, the drinks were beautiful, it was clean, and the staff was quick and friendly! Can’t recommend enough.

My coworker and I go here on Fridays. The food is always good. you will never be disappointed. Staff are always nice, the place is clean and the parking is right across the street.

Very, very loud and crowded at night and after I ate the sashimi, I came home and my stomach was hurting so badly and I had food poisoning🤢🤮

Great selection for sushi and sake. They have options to choose from if you’re not feeling the sushi. Can be tight sitting next to random people but they try to give space between tables if they can.

Awesome sushi! Nice environment, free parking across the street. Often you have to call several times to get them on the phone to order, but it's worth it for the food. The service folks are so nice and kind. Great overall!

This is the first and last visit. This place absolutely did not live up to the reviews it has idk how they got it to be honest. The sushi is NOT fresh and some of it even tasted like cleaning products. If i could give it a negative rating i would.

The best sushi spot I’ve been to! Vibes are great! My husband who isn’t into sushi and only goes because of me gave it 4 stars! That says a lot. Everyone here is friendly and they all help each other! Fast friendly and fresh!! Must try!!

Food here is fabulous... A bit pricey, but worth coming....One of my favorites.....good size portions. Try it you won't be disappointed... But I don't understand the parking lot now being Valet?.. and I don't know if this is an extra cost? Hope someone else can fill in the blanks for you with that?

OMG the best sushi I have ever ate.

Staff is friendly and helpful in selecting items from their large menu. Will offer suggestions about popular choices as well as personal favorites. This location is often very busy with both pickups and in person dining. However, the sushi is worth the wait! Also it is both a bring your own end sells beer wine and cocktails. There will be an uncorking fee if you bring something from home.

When ordering take out you get charged .50 for a bag. I love the environment but why am I paying .50 for a stapled ripped bag??? And the front desk person said “I just assumed you would need a bag.” I had two things. Stupid. And not the best food. I was hoping for fresh- NOT at all.

This is by far the best sushi I’ve ever had. Amazing, amazing, amazing. The only thing I will say is if you go on a popular night just be prepared to wait at least 45 minutes for your food. Totally worth it though!

The service was excellent 👌. The place was very very clean. It is fairly large, has many seating areas, and also a bar. It would be a great place to host any kind of party or event. The sushi was excellent, very fresh. The menu is quite large and varied, they serve all kinds of food, not just sushi. Also, they serve beer, saki, and cocktails. We had lychee flavored saki, it was very good. The sushi prices are extremely reasonable. My Philadelphia roll was only six dollars, which is cheaper than shop rite and stop and shop ! We had soup, 3 big rolls of fresh delicious sushi, and a bottle of saki. The bill was 58 dollars!!!! I would highly recommend this place

Have been eating at Nizi’s for 7 years way before they moved to there new Location. They have never changed their taste and still in love with their service . Thank you so much for always keeping up with your quality.

By far my favorite sushi place. Since moving out of the area, I will still drive the 30 minutes to dine here every so often. I always get the sushi but have had the beef kimbop a few times which was very good. The fish is always fresh and the rice to filling ratio is perfect. I started coming here when they were just a small hole in the wall and they offer the same great quality of food and service since they moved to the bigger location a few years ago if not better because they're able to accommodate a lot more people now. They are also great for take out and have good lunch specials.

When I sat in to eat sushi few weeks ago I loved it , when I placed a pick order, it was horrible!!!!! The sushi smelled like butter, and not fresh at all yuckkk!! And then the crispy stuff on top was stale!!! I realized they had placed 2 of the same sushi rolls when I confirmed 3 times that I wanted just 2 rolls (spicy girl and Godzilla roll) when I went home, it was 3 rolls hence to why it was expensive. Wont be coming here again!!!!

It is one of the better sushi places in town. Service was good. Fish didn't taste fishy. I will mention that the sashimi cut is a little small. Got complimentary miso. Overall, the ambiance was nice. They had tables in the back for larger party, away from the main area.

Came in about 45 minutes before close and the staff was very helpful with ordering and food came out surprisingly fast. The sushi was amazing. One of the best sushi places I’ve been to.

This is second time we had dinner at Nizi Sushi. Taste is great. Portions are decent. Only down side is sushi pieces are way too big and it’s making them difficult to eat. It’s hard to dip into soy sauce. Also once you bite it, it falls apart and then it becomes another trouble. I strongly suggest making smaller sushis.

The food was perfect and delicious. I ordered a special one and I loved it. My friend ordered a regular one and it was so small😃. Mine was delicious but difficult to eat because they didn't put it under enough pressure to keep the shape. But I liked there and their food

Arriving at the restaurant, they were very friendly and welcoming. A couple of minutes- literally 2-3 minutes- after getting seated, we got a complimentary miso soup and soon after, a waiter came to ask if we wanted something to drink, and if we had any questions regarding the menu. Sushi is fresh, tasteful, great presentation. We also had a katsu porc, and the plate was not only huge, but beautifully presented, fresh, and full of flavours. That plate could definitely be shared amongst two people. Too bad we live so far, because we’d for sure make that place a weekly/monthly go-to! We recommend that place if you want a full-circle great meal and service experience. 10/10 for our family (got to mention that our 9 year old hates sushi with a passion- and most food lol-, and loved this place because they offered the katsu (and much more) option!) we’ll definitely be back! Having worked in the restaurant business before (sushi and steakhouse), they were on top of everything: service, food, clean restaurant and restrooms. We FULLY recommend!

Visiting Jersey and was looking for something quick to eat, take out. Came across this sushi place near Metlife Stadium with high rating so decided to try it. Great atmosphere inside and staff were friendly. Ordered two simple rolls, spicy salmon and eel. Boy, was it disappointing, the spicy salmon roll was not spicy and it had so much salmon skin left in it, why? (See pictures). Totally dont understand why and it's unacceptable, I've had many sushi rolls, even in Japan and I've never experienced this before. And the eel roll had very less eel, big chuck of avocado, rained with sauce which made it very soggy. It felt like I was eating avocado roll. Last but not least, the rolls were not rolled properly, it was loose and pretty would fall when picked up. Was not expecting this quality of food with a place with such high rating.

I came here with a friend for lunch. We were greeted and seated immediately. The workers were very nice. We orded the lunch special and the sushi boat. I personally also ordered a cocktail for myself. Everything was good and tasted fresh. The atmosphere inside is also nice and clean. I like the sushi bar area, looks like a nice place to sit.

I typically get take out so don't know about table service but the food is great - best sushi in the area.

Over due for this review. My husband and I have been going to this place for almost 20 years now. Everyone here is so welcoming. Feels like family at this point. Real good and fresh fishes. Sushi is to do die for. You’ll be returning every week haha Dominic is the best!! And the owners are so sweet. You will love it here.

very INEXPERIENCED waiter, no culinary skills, told him I'm waiting for a friend so he gave me soup in the meantime--did he really expect me to eat it alone? I refused it. When friend arrived, he didn't offer us anything. Had to ask for lemon several times, never returned to see if we needed anything, never asked about dessert, disappeared when it was time for the check.

Okay so I had the place a couple of times before reviewing because the first time you eat somewhere and tell them its a first time sometimes they take a little better care of you just to make sure but I can assure you grade A food and grade A service every time regardless if you are a regular or someone new. Kudos to the staff and management for making it a pleasant place to eat at. No photos cause its so good I eat before I can remember to take photos!

Good food but terrible service. The people is nice but today a men asked me for the minimum of 18% of tips in a order of 50 dollars bill in a just two people table. This is the first time this happened and I didn’t like it since there is a option of “custom tip” and non mention of a minimum tip per service. I live in the area and I love this place because of the amazing food but this is not the right way to ask for money.

Great food & service! The staff is very flexible at customizing your sushi rolls which is nice. The menu is vast so you’ll have a ton of sushi options to choose from. My friend and I got 3 rolls, the calamari, and tiramisu. Calamari was very small so I rate it a 7/10, the sushi was fresh, large & delicious, and the tiramisu was 6/10. It is also BYOB so make sure to bring your favorite drink.

It was my 1st time here I liked the service & atmosphere. The rolls were really big, I mean bigger than my mouth & over loaded with spicy mayo (too much, drenched...is a good word). I would def go back & give them another try though.

Technically a 4.5 star Plenty of parking. Friendly staff. Decent space to sit. A tad bit loud for toddlers but its fine. Good vegetarian sushi options. Quick delivery from order to table. Would vouch for this place.

I have been going to Nizi since they were in their old tiny location on Union Ave in Rutherford. I love the servers, love the food, and love the atmosphere. However, this weekend I ordered a meal through GrubHub and though I was charged $30 for the entree portion of a certain dish, what was delivered to me was the appetizer version of the dish. It is a smaller portion, comes without the 4-5 sides that the entree should come with, and is about $11 cheaper on the menu. I called Nizi to see if there was any way they could deliver the rest of the items that were supposed to have come with my entree portion (and yes I was CHARGED for the entrée portion) and all anyone could tell me was that there was nothing they can do and that I needed to call GrubHub to get a refund. I explained that I didn’t want a refund, I wanted my missing food. They could not have cared any less. Rude woman told me they were busy and there was nothing they could do. As someone who has worked in multiple restaurants and service industry jobs, I KNOW FOR A FACT that their response was UNACCEPTABLE. Never in my life have I been so rudely brushed off. I was offered ZERO solutions, ZERO accountability was taken on their part, and ZERO understanding. As a former manager myself I would have said something like “it’s very busy right now, but let me take down your info and I can have someone in management call you back during a less busy time and see what we can do to right this wrong.” I would have happily accepted that, they would have gotten some time to figure out a solution, I would have felt heard and valued as a customer, and everyone would have been happy. Something as simple as “come on in tomorrow and have a free appetizer on us” really goes a long way. But they did NOTHING. Just passed the buck. Lost a longtime customer.

The reviews are way off and I’ve been to way better places, example look up AKi in Bloomfield, or Osaka ryu gin in glen rock, and before you say “ oh your naming these places cause you work there” no, I’m saying if you want to really treat yourself, come on really treat yourself but do it right

Delicious sushi rolls and friendly service!

As a former resident of East Rutherford, I frequently traveled across the tracks to the consistently packed Nizi Sushi on Union Ave. I was so excited to see that they have finally opened up a larger space and are doing so well. This being my first time in the East Rutherford location, I was excited to enjoy some Nizi staples. The new location ( formally Taos) is huge compared to their old location. We went here for date night and as always, the Nizi crowd was there, even for a late Saturday night, it was packed. We were able to get a table immediately , and the service, as always is top notch and exceptional. That being said, a few things have changed. First and foremost, nizi now serves alcohol , so that’s new… however, those free mussels they use to give with siracha has been discontinued as part of the Nizi experience. We ordered a Japanese beer recommended by the waiter, and I enjoyed a Malibu Bay Breeze, served with an umbrella and fruit skewer, it was a mini vacation in a cup. We shared the edamame which was hot and salty… good as usual. We ordered four special rolls . The pink lady roll, the spicy girl roll, the crazy salmon roll and the kamikaze roll. The rolls were huge. Now, if you have texture sensitivity, I advise you to be aware. All of the rolls, were not tightly rolled. This was good because you were able to eat the roll in two bites. The con, ALL of the ingredients in the sushi were more or less the same consistency and temperature. There was really no difference in texture between the rice, the fish , and the other ingredients. Everything was room temp and super soft. The spicy tuna they put on top of the roll was so soft it was a challenge to pick up the roll. That in combination with the roll being so huge, and heavy, and loosely rolled… it was very difficult to eat. The flavors were good… but again, it was hard to eat. For dessert, we ordered the fried ice cream. This I would skip. It tastes like peanut oil, the outside is not crunchy or has any flavor other than peanut oil. They bring out this little sundae caddy which was cute! Overall, Nizi upgraded themselves to East Rutherford, however, it appears their kitchen took a slight downgrade during their relocation. I would return, and try them again, perhaps they had an off night.

I finally decided to give this place a try since it had some pretty good reviews. Let me start off by saying this is REAL AUTHENTIC SUSHI and by far the BEST one in town. The staff is super friendly and the place itself is super cozy. When we asked our waitress to recommend us sushi, she gave us an AMAZING OPTION! Also, another great part of it was it’s a BYOB which made the night even better. I will highly recommend this place to family and friends and will be making this my NEW SUSHI PLACE!!!!!

The parking is limited , but seating was convenient and inviting , the drinks come out almost immediately and they also bring misso soup as a starter and it was good

The sushi, appys and the drinks are great. I had a French Martuni which came with Belvedere vodka. It was amazing. The pieces of sushi are of generous size. Place is always packed which should tell you something. And they have a huge parking lot across the street, which is a welcomed bonus. Enjoy!

Been eating here since they opened in rutherford and it was one of my favorite sushi restaurants. Ordered chirashi and it had wilted iceberg lettuce in it. Only fast food restaurants use iceberg lettuce to cut cost. Very disappointing with quality you receive for the high price you pay.

Holy Moly this place is INSANE! The sushi is so fresh and every roll was incredible. It does get busy but thankfully the service is really great. Everyone was so nice and we can’t wait to come back with the kids!
