If you have not tried this place yet, please pay a visit.. The chili Verde and the huevos rancheros are great. It gets busy at times, but the wait is worth it.

The air conditioning or something is loud and obnoxious. The food is FANTASTIC!!! DELICIOUS!!! And the owner us always present and makes you feel like a long lost friend when you go in.

Excellent every time! A family favorite of ours. The new owners are just as wonderful as the old owners and there’s always a genuinely warm greeting when we come in. The food is amazing. It’s one of the few places where you can confidently say everything on the menu is great. I wish they took cards, but I understand why they likely don’t, but really it doesn’t matter in a place as good as this.

Also finally tried the signature Little Cactus Special and might not order anything else ever :) This place is worth every moment spent finding an ATM to grab some cash to pay with. The family is so kind and you can feel the love and care they put into their business with every bite. While I'm not by any means a vegetarian, i do appreciate well-thought-out vegetarian options cause sometimes you just need a whole bunch of veg! The Breakfast Burrito with Sauteed Vegetables is ridiculously good. Patronize this business. They will not disappoint.

[Updated Review] I went back! And it was even better this time. I convinced my favorite brunch buddy to switch up our usual haunts for Nopalitos, and I'm pretty sure this is going to quickly become one of our new favorites. We each had the Huevos Rancheros with the house's homemade chorizo (mine with red sauce and hers with green). What a truly satisfying meal on a cold morning! We also had the option to sit outside with the heaters today, which is a fun option. Remember to bring cash. [Original Review] This spot has been on my list to try for a while, and I finally had the chance to do so on a particularly cold morning. I enjoyed the Smoked Bacon Scramble with a very fine cup of coffee. Friendly, clean, and the food was perfect for a winter morning. I'll be back!

I don't want to harm a family business so I'm leaving 4 stars. Ordered the salad's with guacamole and it was just way too salty🫤. Both dishes were really oversalted.

Okay food and good service in East Sacramento. This place is always crowded, but I'm not 100% on board to all the fuss.

Yesterday was my first time here for breakfast and let me tell you I will be back again 10/10 hands down! the only thing I didn't like is they ONLY take cash and it is really small in the inside ill take my food Togo next time

The food has always been fantastic. The ownership as well. We are so glad the old owners passed on the restaurant to one of their old employees. He is utterly fantastic as the owner and makes it a point to connect with his customers. He remembers what you like and always makes sure you leave with a smile on your face. So we go whenever we want good food and/or a pick me up and we always leave in a better mood.

Breakfast burrito off the chart delicious. Fast kitchen and really friendly service. Cash only so be prepared for that.

I didn't know what to expect, but my husband and friends were looking for some good breakfast burritos and came across this place. Love the salsa bar with the 3 different types of salsa. I got a Machaca, a shredded pork with eggs and potatoes, and it was absolutely delicious. The place is quaint and has outdoor seating. Make sure to stop by the ATM, for this place takes cash or check.

Absolutely delicious. You know when you go into a place and the customer service is good, you knowwwwww the food is going to be good! Nopalitos has such a calm atmosphere and you can tell they pour their love into the meals they make. The burrito I got was HUGE! But sooo delicious! I got the chile verde breakfast burrito per recommendation from the gentleman taking my order. Full of flavor! I definitely plan to go back. Make sure to bring cash or check, they don’t take card. The parking lot is small but don’t let that deter you, you’d be missing out to pass this place up!

Good Mexican style food with big portion sizes. Staff were friendly and attentive. Several vegetarian options on the menu. Not crowded mid week for dinner.

A hidden Sacramento gem. The staff is personable. The food never disappoints. It gets very busy for breakfast on Saturday but it's worth the wait. We love the Red Potatoe plate, polenta, and the Chile Verde for breakfast. For lunch or dinner we really like the Tamale bowl and the Chile Verde but look forward to trying more in the future.

Overall my experience was horrible the manager Nelly was so unprofessional gave me a horrible experience she made my boyfriend and I extremely uncomfortable she was so rude I don’t understand how she is the manager.. And for the food it doesn’t taste like authentic Mexican food taste like a wannabe tacobell way over priced never coming back again,

I happened upon this gem a few months ago and have been back about a half dozen times since. It is wonderful. In-house made chorizo to start and authentic southwestern breakfast dishes. I have tried the Chile Colorado and several omelets, but my absolute favorite is corn and cheese scrambled eggs (my mom used to make this so it’s nostalgic for me). I have them add chorizo <chef’s kiss> to the scramble which takes it over the top. Service is super fast and always friendly. Traditional American offerings look great too (pancakes). Cash and check only.

Could not be more happy to find out I live in walking distance of this restaurant. Had the nopales quesadilla, was superb, fresh and flavourful. Excellent salsa verde. Enjoyed their outdoor sitting area. Heads up, restaurant is cash/check.

Best Breakfast burrito in Sacramento

I went here early in the morning and ordered a machaca breakfast burrito with cream and cheese. Those two things were a dollar extra each. The burrito in total cost me $13, which I'd say is pricey. It had great flavor but for the price, I was expecting something slightly larger. The place was clean and the food tasted fresh, but I am giving it 4 stars due to the fact that you cannot pay with a card, only cash. The woman working the counter was kind and she made me feel welcome. I will come back here again to try out more dishes.

The menu is limited, but what they make is tasty. There's informal dining inside and a few tables outside overlooking the parking lot.

Small on the outside, small on the inside, HUGE on flavor! With only six tables inside plus a few tables outside, this clean, southwestern restaurant is compact. Their food is attractive and delicious and they serve ample portions reasonably priced. It's an East Sac institution now open evenings and Saturdays. Choose your times to avoid the crowds--its a hit!

Came here for a breakfast burrito, not a fan of pork; the gentleman working there advised I get the Colorado Burrito. Couldn't ask for a better breakfast burrito..perfectly marinated beef with ample amounts of egg, potatoes and vegetables. The taste was so good I had no choice but to savor each bite... so much so I was 10minutes late to my job. So yeah 10 out of 10

My favorite thing to do when I travel is find the closest family style Mexican food. Must have a salsa bar.! This place did not disappoint and the best part it is walking distance.

Great Southwestern food. The new owners have worked there for years. It's small and crowded, but service is fast. The food is always good. We've been eating at Nopalitos for more than 20 years. Believe it or not, they make the best pancakes around.

We stopped in with our son and his wife who live nearby. Our first visit, they have been there several times. People were all super friendly and helpful with menu suggestions. Food was excellent! I had a breakfast burrito with chorizo my with scrambled eggs with avocado. Both were great small neighborhood place that is a knock out!!

First time visitor, my breakfast was delicious (avocado & eggs) only downside is that they only take cash and I didn’t have enough cash on hand to try the pancakes LOL. Can’t wait to go back and try them.

I was really surprised by the great food. It was so tasty and so fresh; really quite outstanding! The only thing is that they don't take Credit Cards so be prepared to bring cash. But, the extra small hassle is so worth the great food.

Ordered 6 burritos togo, I accidentally got the wrong amount of cash out of the ATM (cash only establishment). The gentleman working the front let me take the burritos and bring the rest of my balance back. Really made the day I was having (it wasn’t great) easier. The service here is amazing and the food is great too!

Such a fantastic experience, this location. We received all-you-can-eat dinners. Every variety of meat was wonderful, and everything was delicious. Excellent service was provided. A fun place to visit with friends or on a date! For dessert, the tempura cheesecake was also excellent. I'll give everyone who comes through town a big recommendation for this place!

A great little hole in the wall with unexpected warmth! Small amount of seating. Consider eating out or taking your plate to a park to enjoy your bounty! Try their new dinner menu or come in early, this place gets hopping quick! I wandered into this place around 5pm with my family looking for a good local eatery that was maybe a little off the beaten track. This little cafe next to a bike shop, and you'd scarcely know it was there unless you look closely! But wander in and you start to get the vibe that this is one of those special places. The restaurant itself is tiny, with only 6-7 tables with seating for 4, and a couple outside on the sidewalk. It was about half full when we came in, ordered at the counter, and picked a table. Either pick up a soad when you play or get some self-service water from the counter, don't expect your waiter to bring it over! Service is speedy, with our food arriving in less than 10 minutes. The food was hot but not sizzling, which I honestly prefer (having hurned myself on Denny's skillets more times than I can count) and the flavors were ON POINT. if you've never have nopalitos, they're little bits of cactus that are in a lot of the dishes. Don't be afraid, they taste like sweet bell pepper and have a slightly spongy texture. The fajitas are nicely portioned and the rice was perfectly fluffy, and my smothered burrito (with both sauces) was sweet, spicy, and savory all in one. The chicken was reminiscent of kebab meat, springy and we'll seasoned with a little grill flavor. I had gone through the entire meal before I remembered there was a homemade salsa bar right next to me! Waving goodbye to the wait staff and walking out into the cool evening air was amazing. Go try this place yourself, and sample the new dinner menu! I'd highly recommend!

Excellent restaurant. A must go to while visiting Sacramento. We come to Sacramento every few years and we always remember how good this place is for breakfast. Our one relative eats here a few times a week. We went today, you order at the counter and then take a seat. I had the Little Cactus Special with red sauce cause it is not spicy. It was delicious and I ate the entire thing. It has tortillas, eggs, corn, cactus, sour cream, sauce and more. My husband had the chili verde and ate the entire thing. Crowded little place, CASH ONLY.

Husband really liked his smothered breakfast burrito and I enjoyed the polenta breakfast. Got a short stack of pancakes (they are fluffy!) and a Mexican hot chocolate too. You order at the counter and they don't take cards (cash only). Small space but perfect for a weekday visit, it wasn't too busy on a Thursday at 9:45am and we sat at one of the 4 outside tables.

Chile Colorado Burrito 🌯 loved this as a power breakfast. Easily able to wrap some and take it with me for later. Good upbeat vibe and start to my work day.

My family had a dine in experience that was amazing, fast friendly service, clean restaurant and some of the tastiest southwest cuisine around if not the best.

Lots of good things lots of bad things. We got the sauteed veggie breakfast burrito and the cheese and yellow corn egg dish. The burrito had lots of veggies, a big plus, however it was lacking in any real flavor. The cheese and corn was very tasty but the pico was unwanted and kinda wasted the food that was under it.

Best Mexican breakfast I’ve ever had! Went to Nopalitos with two friends at 11:00 am and was still allowed to order breakfast despite the menu stating that 11:00 was the cutoff for lunch and it was obvious that the kitchen had already started to convert to their lunch routine. Ordered the Chile verde breakfast with corn tortillas which was recommended by the waiter. The pork was tender, the sauce was exquisite, hot but not too hot and the eggs were just runny enough to blend into the Chile verde perfectly. The delicate corn tortillas put the breakfast over the top! I plan to visit again soon to enjoy the same order. A word about our waiter who we thought was the new owner. He is definitely a people person dedicated to excellent customer service. He was welcoming, friendly and attentive. His smile and banter made us feel like special customers. Highly, highly recommend Nopalitos!

But we'll pass on the bonus illness that's associated at some of the authentic looking places. Nopalitos is a homey place. Authentic decor and friendly while still being nice and clean. Fast service. Perfect breakfast burritos. Tasty without being greasy. Very safe feeling environment. Recommend highly! I'll be going back.

Some of the best nachos I've ever had, amazing prices compared to 99% of other restaurants in the area, friendly staff, clean and cute atmosphere. The only reason I'm removing a star is because they are cash only but it's not posted anywhere so I didn't know until after I ordered. I had to walk a little down the street (not a far walk but a little annoying when it's 90 degrees lol), and unfortunately the only option for cash is a liquor store that charges a fee for any debit card transaction or cash back. I would definitely come back but I highly suggest they post on the door that they're cash only just so people know before ordering.
