When we pulled up, we expected gas station coffee and mediocre food. When we went inside, we were absolutely delighted to see the ambiance and charm and full menu. All of the staff were super pleasant, professional and they gave great recommendations on which menu items to try. We sat down in a comfortable, quiet atmosphere in a room off to the side of the main store. The decor was rustic, beautiful and very well done. We were immediately comfortable. Then came the food; absolutely off the chain! FANTASTIC! The omelettes were the best we’ve had in years and the bread was homemade, fresh and simply outstanding. The gourmet coffee bar was delightful and the coffee was hand-crafted. You just don’t find places like this with such a personal touch very often anymore. Best experience on this 4,500 mile trip so far! Truly a hidden gem tucked away in the mountains. We will definitely be back… next time as a destination and not just a stop!!!

This place is amazing! They have lots of options for ready to go food but you can also order hot meals if you like. There are places to eat inside and out.

Was worried that only McDs and Taco Bell was left for breakfast on our route, then stumbled upon here to find an extremely cozy cafe that beats most others. Everyone very friendly, food was great (huge cake section to), and very good prices. Plan to stop here again if in the area in the future.

Best place to stop to eat and get a treat!

The best cheesecake I have ever had - tucked away in an inconspicuous little building off the side of the highway in western MD. Don’t make the mistake of missing this!

When you drive in here, you think it's just a service station, but it's so much more! They have fantastic food with a rather extensive menu that you can take out or eat there. You literally walk in and to the right past the counter into another room, and you can eat in peace amid a country rustic surrounding. Added bonus-- they are also a convenience store with limited groceries, and they sell the best brown cage-free eggs from a local farm at a price that will rival the farmers' markets! Plus, they use them in some of their breakfast items! I recommend a stop today!

This was a really cool spot to stop for lunch along the MABDR. Not your typical gas stop - that's for sure!

This place is a must stop! If you need fuel for your vehicle or food for your stomach, they have you covered. The food is all fantastic, great atmosphere and the staff is first class! They even have an outdoor seating area with stage for concerts.

It’s a gas station, but it’s probably one of the best restaurants around. The chicken wings are huge and by far the best around!!! Think of it as an upscale restaurant but a country store. That’s how I feel bout the food. From wings to A deli sandwich to burgers !

Everyone was so genuinely friendly and courteous… now let’s get into these desserts!!! My husband had the deliciously creamy Lemon Mousse and I opted for the Bread Pudding w/ Rum Sauce🥰 So so good!!!

This looks unassuming from the outside and is awesome inside. A whole store with a huge assortment of desserts and alcoholic beverages, plus a café that has a good menu for lunch! Great beyond burger. Plus they have a side patio for evening drinks and corn hole. Definitely a must visit next time.

Extremely Upset. I ask for BBQ and girl said it was in Gel thawing. Gross. Then I asked for plain noodles. There was a Ton of mushrooms ( highly allergic) I didn't look until home 2hrs away. Never again

I've reviewed the oak barrel before, but this place always leaves me wanting to review it again. You HAVE to try the Thai peanut bowl. It is amazing. Great service, amazing food. Fantastic cheesecake. If you pass this place on your way through, stop and spend a few dollars you won't regret it.

It's a neat gas station with a lot going on. They have some of the best desserts in the area. Always a unique special of the day.

This is the best rest stop for someone who is gluten free! It actually has decent options and for someone who is low sugar too it is a steal how awesome it is here. Overall make this your gas stop you won’t regret it.

A great little roadside stop. Great atmosphere whether you eat inside or out. Plenty of food selections from which to choose. They even have a coffee and ice cream bar. The food took a while to come out but the wait was worth it. Delicious and filling.

This is one of the best hidden gems. Unexpected cafe that’s attached to a gas station. Not only do they make grab and go food (all look outstanding and fresh) but you can order a bunch of other things too. Last but not least is the desserts, I’d say probably dozen different pies (in individual portions) and cookies, breads and more ALL MADE THERE!! We now stop there when we are going to be passing by.

we got BLT's I know some will not consider this a sandwich but it was the best BLT I have had in a long time

Ordered a takeout BLT and cheesesteak, both were phenomenal and ready by the time I arrived. The selection of goods is also fantastic, including a variety of soaps, preservatives, candy, drinks, and baked goods! They seem to have a nice outside seating area as well.

This is a must stop they have great food and if you like cakes cookies cheesecake and other sweets they make all there own stuff and the choices are amazing. They have a small setting area probably 10 tables ive had the cowboy burger...amazing the kickin chicken wrap fantabulous I added bacon to mine 😋 hubby had a mushroom and swiss on rye he said was very good my friend had the shrimp poor boy amazing...well let's just say I haven't had anything that wasn't great ive tried several different types of the cakes and the didn't disappoint fresh with great flavor

I got a hazelnut latte and what they called "bang bang shrimp" and it was pretty good! There weren't long wait times, and the latte was amazing. I will say that the bang bang shrimp could use a bit less mayonnaise, but other than that, i really liked it

We stopped for gas and were hungry, and were honestly blown away by the selection of options. I had the italian sub and my friend had the rueben and mac and cheese. If you are hungry and need to stop this is the place.

Had to stop here for bathroom. Decided to get some food and gas while we're here and yes some firewood too. We stayed at a cabin real close by had to come back . Firewood.

If you are visiting Garret County, stop by at exit 72 at Oak Barrel Cafe. Tasty food and beautiful decorations. What I usually take home from the cafe is the homemade Italian bread-very tasty.

This is the cutest gas station with amazing products. The cafe is adorable as well. We loved seeing all the old fashioned candy from our youth: candy cigarettes, black cows, clove gum, etc. This is the stop to make to refill!

This is a Citgo gas station but inside is a cute little coffee shop and general store. It was clean and inviting.

My husband and I stopped in for food and bathroom break. Ladies room was clean. Staff was very friendly and I had the best piece of cake I've ever had in my life! Pistachio, yum.

Went in to use the bathroom along our trip to DC & Baltimore. Bathroom was clean but on the way out by the door were some peanut butter egg and they caught our eyes. So I took one for me and my wife to the counter 2 PB eggs. OMG 😲 😱 over $5.25 for 2 Easter style eggs made by reesse. Shame on them and that store for those prices. The eggs were wanted to snack on went back to the shelf. So they are for sale. But I would say no!!! Shame Shame

Made a pit stop here and the staff was amazing! The shop has so many cute items to offer and you’re sure to find something yummy to eat.

Diners, Drive Ins & Dives worthy! Absolutely amazing menu! If you are traveling along this stretch of Rt. 68 (just beyond the Rt. 70 split) you need to check this place out for yourself. The food is fantastic, the decor is perfect and everyone is friendly. Will stop here whenever I am anywhere nearby!

A very old school theme place & friendly staff. Had to work on a unit trailer that was parked out back. Went inside after being done got a coffee & a bump & was ready to rock out the door much needed & appreciated. Will be back in the future for more business.

Newly remodeled and is old school country atmosphere. Clean bathrooms. Lots of snacks, drinks, wine, beer, coffee, sodas etc. Also gas stations access.

A happy detour! We missed an exit and just decided to hit the next available gas station, which led us to this gem. We make this drive often, and Oak Barrel will be a regular stop from now on.

The BEST cheesecake! We look forward to stopping there about every two weeks at least! It's a little Exxon Station with a cafe and everything is OUTSTANDING!! I don't know how they do it but I hope they never stop!! Their bowls are really good, the burgers, the Baja, I haven't had anything I didn't like! You've got to try this place! 👍👍👍👍👍

This is a MUST stop truck stop with a side of boutique and serving all kinds of great food. Clean bathroom and cared for with love. You’ll want to allow some time to do some shopping with all the creative and yummy options.

Cool little gas station café. Tastefully decorated with a classic homestyle theme. Deli/sandwich shop in the convenience store section serves good hot food. Convenience store also sells classic gas station snacks and drinks. The other section of this building is a small shop where you can buy locally made products like honey, honey butter, hot sauce, and little knickknacks. Small shop also includes small indoor seating area which leads to a larger outdoor seating area. The staff were very friendly as well. Definitely recommend to stop by Oak Barrel in your travels!

Not your average restaurant attached to a gas station. Homemade delicious food, quick service. Also an upgraded coffee shop, and ice cream store. Vintage sodas and candies. What a lovely way to end weekend in the mountains.

I’ve been in love with the deserts for years. This weekend I spent &52 on a full size cheesecake and it was worth every penny! Huge hit for dinner party for 22! Everything is amazing at this place!
