Our waitress was very sweet, attentive and kind, however their food was awful and tasted like microwavable tv dinners. Would not recommend this place to anyone! I hope the waitress finds a better restruant, she was the only good part about it. Also, it was an absolute ice box and the bathroom was the size of a porterpotty. Don't waste your money!

Good food. I usually stop here when visiting town. The fresh bread is great. Got me a few loafs for home!

Dressing was not edible and tasted spoiled. Owner said our taste buds are just different. Seemed very odd. Never had bad dressing in my life. Will not be back. Also service charge for putting meal on credit card.

Decided to go out to dinner with family here, nobody had checked closing times, we just went in shortly before 8 pm. They sat us down, got us drinks right away and we're very polite given the circumstances. The food was absolutely amazing, as well as the atmosphere! Definitely going back and would recommend if you're looking for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. Huge thank you to the staff as we did not realize they closed at 8!

I have gone to this place every year since I was younger.. I make sure to stop there every time I visit Ludington! I have drove a few hours just for their food. It’s a staple of each of my trips there. The service is great, the food is great, and it feels so comforting.

Been going to Old Hamlin for over 30 years. Nothing has changed, I like it that way. The food is always good. I like the variety of good food on the menu.

Food was pretty good and servings were big enough. Server was friendly BUT super super slow and very inattentive. (Don’t know if that’s a staffing issue, but not my problem) A family that came in after us was finished and gone 15 minutes before we were able to wrap it up…. It shouldn’t take an hour and a half to get a couple sandwiches for 2 people.

Food and waitress were outstanding. Rear bathroom reminded me of traveling up I-75 back in the 70's.

Best gyro had in a long time, waitress (Madison?) Friendly and attentive, facility very quaint, and I want to go back with more time to check out the displays, etc. Burrito and lasagna the girls had was VG! Sold!

The best fresh made food. Their baked in house bread is amazing especially the Cinnamon Raisin bread. I would highly recommend a loaf to take with you.

Breakfast was great. Our waitress was awesome. It's a little dated inside with a little musty odor. Also multiple people in the waiting area and seated around us were talking about some breakfast buffet over and over.

I've eaten here throughout my life in Ludington, and more recently have been eating dinner here about once a week for the past couple years. I'm just taking the time to give Old Hamlin the five star review they deserve. The owners are very kind as well as their wait staff. Dinner is always consistently delicious, the salad bar is always pristine, and the homemade bread is, well, it's homemade bread! Amazing! Do yourself a favor and have a home cooked meal at Old Hamlin.

By far the best homemade food in Ludington not to mention the most reasonable fare we found. It doesn’t look great from the outside, and the interior gives 1980’s diner vibes. A fish kids meal for under 7 bucks, probably some of the best pancakes we’ve ever had and an adult 4 piece chicken dinner complete with homemade bread for 18 bucks. We bought a loaf to take home for breakfast in the morning! Please give this a chance. Seems like the 3rd generation operated family business too. Thank you

We had breakfast here 2 times. It was amazing, especially the French toast with homemade bread. The employees were all so nice and the service was great.

On a recommendation we visited Old Hamlin for breakfast, specifically to try the Homemade French Toast. The French Toast is made with their homemade bread, dusted with powdered sugar, and it delicious! I ordered the two slice version, ate 1 3/4 slices, and the server said I ate more than most. It is thick and filling! Coupled with their homemade hash browns and a side of bacon, it was a fantastic breakfast. Don't visit Ludington without trying the Old Hamblin French Toast!

An older established diner. Atmosphere is older 70's decor. The service was absolutely exceptional. The food was good and salad bar was very fresh. All the salad dressings are homemade as well as the bread.

My sis and I went to the all you can eat friday fish fry 16.99. They had pollock and perch with crinkle fries and coleslaw. I had 6 pcs of pollock on my plate! Too full to eat more. It was good. My 1st time there. Im from Grand Rapids, and was visiting my sisters in Fountain.

It's one of Ludington's treasures! Locally owend and operated for as long as I can recall. Breakfast will NEVER leave you hungry. Waitstaff is wonderful. Prices are decent. Specials are always a Great Deal.

I would highly recommend the “small dinner” chicken neal. Don’t let the “small dinner” fool you because I couldn’t finish the whole meal and was more than full. The service was exceptional and very friendly. The atmosphere fits the write up of the restaurant. While dated, if it was more updated it wouldn’t fit. Highly recommended!

A must dining experience in Ludington,Mi.Had the all you can eat fish and it was perfectly breaded and cooked. The server was awesome! I live 1500 miles away and would drive or fly back here just to eat here again.

It's not bad, but not that great, either. Their food is fine, but not particularly delicious. Portions are okay, but seem a bit overpriced. They were having problems with their computer and some kitchen staff, so it took FOREVER to place our order and get our food. Just an extremely underwhelming experience overall. We'll likely not be back.

Great gyro, fries, pickle, and really good cheeseburger with all the trimmings, and fries. An iced tea, and a couple of beers. Fabulously attentive waitress! Very reasonable price. Will be back! Open early morning through evening with a good extensive menu.

Visited for restaurant week because of their vegan options and it was so good! There's not many places nearby that you can get a vegan appetizer, entree AND dessert and this really hit the spot. Not to mention how kind and friendly the staff are. Hope the vegan options stay so I can come back for more!

Great food! The service was phenomenal. So pleasant and attentive. We always come here when in Ludington. Homemade food is hard to find. Delicious! We will be going back again. The serving sizes are very generous!

Definitely hometown cozy vibes here. There is tons of food options, they are courteous and helpful all the time, and all the food I've had has been good. They definitely are dependant on tourist season, but most businesses in town are. There is a lot of awesome paintings of local locations and some comical signs scattered around the place too. Definitely something that you need to experience!

Stopped in today for the first time and tried a peice of coconut creme pie and it was absolutely delicious! I ordered a double bacon cheese burger and it was one of the best old fashioned burgers I've had in years! Great old place! Thanks.

Sorry about that Owner. We stopped in On a Sunday morning during breakfast time, About a week and a 1/2 ago. you were offering lunch at the time. I believe it was about 10:30. But I could not order half the lunch sides. Because the frher wasn't on until eleven, some of the other sides were only served on the salad bar And that wasn't open yet. If every side I asked for that I wanted wasn't available. The server did end up talking the cooks into turning the fryer on and brought me fries out with my lunch. But I was unaware of that until my food showed up. I'm not saying it was a bad experience. It was just a little frustrating. Hence the review not being top-notch. I would suggest if you're going to offer lunch during breakfast to at least have all the sides available.

Food was delicious, service was good & the atmosphere was nice, I love all the Ludington Badger photos!! Definitely a home town favorite. (I can't give 5 stars because there's always room to improve)

Walking in you might think it’s just a kitschy diner with possibly good food like a hidden gem or something. Our server was very kind and did her job well, no complaints there. The place was dirty and run down and depressing. I got their homemade toast with breakfast and it tasted like a dirty grill. Breaded mushrooms were inedible, the mushroom tasted like dish water and was slimy and plopped out of the breading. Per another reviewer I can attest that the Breakfast links were great. Kids fruit cups were nice. I felt pretty bad afterwards.

I noticed it has been a shocking 5 years since I have updated my Old Hamlin review, so I figured it was past time as we are regulars here each summer. Old Hamlin is a historic treasure of not just Ludington, but the entire state of Michigan. No joke or hyperbole. It has become more and more rare in the days of chain restaurants to come across a gem like Hamlin. Amazing food that looks and tastes reminiscent of home cooking by grandma. Large portions. Prices that make you feel as though you received a bargain (and probably really should be raised). Decor that, while perhaps dated as some in the reviews have mentioned, gives the place a cozy feel that is REALLY taken for granted these days. And many of the same servers year after year that are without a doubt underappreciated (and vastly undertipped) by patrons - it says a lot when a restaurant can actually keep the same team for any length of time these days. Old Hamlin is truly awesome, and each year they remain open is a gift to not only Ludington but everyone who passes through each year. So many amazing local restaurants like Hamlin have folded in the face of the relentless pressure of corporate chains and in the wake of the pandemic, it's a testament to ownership/management and the quality of service they provide that they are still here. But a family restaurant is a tough, often thankless business, and despite their staying power, I dread the year we will drive into Ludington for the summer and see that the owners of Hamlin have decided it's no longer worth it. So if you've taken the time to read this, whether you're a regular thinking of returning or you're considering a visit to Hamlin for the first time, I urge you to stop in to support them as often as you're able - you won't regret it. They deserve a packed house of fabulous tippers each and every night.

We took our friends from California here for breakfast and it was the best choice ever! We all had something special different and everything was amazing! The homemade toast was a highlight, crusty outside, and clouds inside! Cooked to order and delicious!

I always wanted to try this restaurant and was so glad we finally did! Now, I cannot wait to return!!!! The salad bar was excellent and the homemade soup (Beef vegetable) was outstanding!!!! The homemade bread, also outstanding! We had the Lake Perch and New York Strip, which was tender and practically melted in my mouth. The waitress, Beverly, was attentive, knowledgeable and extremely kind. She gave us a little history of the place which we thoroughly enjoyed hearing about. If ever in the area, this unassuming little place is a must stop in! The ambience is like a step back in time. You won’t regret it.

This is the place my dad took me as a child; I brought MY kids here and so on. Well worth the trip. Awesome homemade food. The strange thing is that I probably passed 30 modern, chain restaurants to get here. Glad I did.

The homemade bread is awesome. Everything else is fine; not amazing and not horrible. Update: Upon further consideration, I realize that Old Hamlin is one of the best places to eat in town. My girlfriend and I talked and agreed that it is definitely four stars. The breakfast is great and everything is good. I was a tad cranky about the mayo on my otherwise delicious sandwich. The staff is also very friendly and quick. A solid 4/5 stars.

It's like stepping back in time from the pictures on the wall to the music! The homemade meatloaf and macaroni and cheese was exceptional and our waitress was excellent. Be sure to save room for dessert! We couldn't eat it there, but took a piece of Coconut Meringue pie with us. It was the best coconut pie we've ever had!!

Awsome home made meals. Chicken is always tender and cooked perfectly. The soups are home made, flavorful and amazing. The salad bar has dressings made here and salad is always fresh. I would like to not recommend the tapioca pudding, but it would be selfish. It is homemade and the best I've had. The bread is homemade and can be purchased to go. When in town, stop in and say hi to Marsha.

The homemade chicken noodle soup was superb! The noodles are homemade as is soup. The grilled cheese sandwiches were huge! The food was excellent and service was top notch. Alexis couldn’t be more gracious! She is a gem! Too bad we don’t live in area or we would frequent often!

If there wasn't anything else in Ludington, we would come here for this restaurant. Every single part of our meal was very tasty and high quality ingredients and preparation.

Slow service. Cook used way too much BBQ sause on a sandwhich. Not going back, many other places in Ludington to dine at.

This place has great food, service and had that old fashion look. Wait times can be a little longer sometimes but the food is always worth the wait. Been here many times and I never leave hungry. Bigger portions and very filling! If you have the time, I highly recommend!
