The garlic shrimp starter is on another level in fact everything I ate was too good lemon or garlic chicken uffffffffffffffff

Definitely a case of don't judge a book by its cover. The food was phenomenal The service was great and I would come back for sure.

The woman could not tell me the lunch special after making me wait for it. Just the sandwiches that were posted on the wall. Then never topping off my water. I called on the phone before arriving and the lady was very uncomfortable and unprofessional. Presentation of the food looked great. Not a good first time visit.

I'm not interested in no other review I'm not going back because I speak English it seemed like I was the problem or maybe not too many Black folks eat there I wonder why anyhow it's a rap with my money

Stumbled onto Oliveiras after a long day of driving, and their dinner more than redeemed the day!

Horrible, inattentive service. Place is outdated and looks like an old basement turned into a dining area. Food, meh. Prepared well but small portions. Chateau Madrid is better on all counts. Now for the SCAM: Dinner for 2. I ordered the surf and turf for $38.00. You literally get a 2oz piece of meat (cheap filet? SMALL) and maybe a 3oz tail, some good homemade chips, saffron rice and some veggies consisting of 4 pieces of sliced carrot and 4 green beans and the rest was sautéed cabbage as a filler. Who the f… wants cabbage??? CHEAP! Fast forward to the bill: They charge a “4%” FEE on top of the meal. FOR WHAT? This was BEFORE I even took any form of payment out of my pocket! The 4% is actually equivalent to 4.26%.of the food and beverage price. Then, they calculate the automatic “20%” tip (mind you only 2 people at this table) with the 4.26% FEE included. It gets better….the tip is actually equivalent to 20.45%. The tax was the only thing that was calculated correctly/with the correct % on the food and beverage amount only. The best part is, on their receipt they have a “suggested ADDITIONAL tip” perhaps if you think the cabbage was extraordinaire! This place is a dirty scam. Will never go back and would not recommend to anyone but my ex-wife and her husband.

This is our go to place! The owner is friendly and cares very much about his customers!! The food is absolutely delicious and the sangria is the best I ever had! Anyone who complains must not have a happy life.

First the food was very good.My wife asked for a water and received it.The problem was when the girl came and and gave us the bill there was a change for $2.00 for water.My wife called over the waitress and asked if it was bottled water and the waitress said no it's tap!!! I have never in my life had to pay for tap water. If I knew that I would have brought my own water!!! And second on the menu it did not say or on the receipt that there was additional charge for using a credit card. Not very good and a surprise to us.Dont think we will be back!!

Wow we received a big hello from the staff when we entered, everyone was all smiles. We were seated and given menus. Our water glasses filled and we looked over the menu. The interior needs to be redecorated but we didn’t go there for a tour. We ordered a pitcher of red sangria and could not have been happier. The shrimp in garlic oil was great. I should have ordered 4 of them and a loaf of bread. The bread was delicious too. But don’t fill up on it. We had the Paella Valenciana. Which did not disappoint. Plenty of mussels, scallops, and clams, lots of chicken too, and the half lobster and chorizo………. No way anyone could eat all this, and the saffron rice. You could taste the saffron. You could see the rich dark color in the rice. Tartufo for a shared dessert and we left with 4 more meals. Super full and Happy

They charge so much money 💵 for tips. I came with my family my bill was 400$ and the tips as per them it's "mandatory" to pay. 70$ tips. I could eat again with my family. It was not a good service. They had no other option for the customer. I payed the tips but not a place place I want to come again.

I ordered the Shrimp scampi it did say it came with linguini I would have preferred it with either rice on the side or a salad 🥗 but it didn't say that it came with the pasta I ate the Shrimp the pasta was a waste and when my friend went to pay she was told 4% added because she used a debit card. How unfair is that for patrons it makes you not want to come back and it was my birthday. Don't know if we'll be back anytime soon!!!

We stopped here the night before our cruise and had an extraordinary meal. I was in Portugal recently and this meal was the equal of all the great meals I had there.

I ordered the 2 lobster tail meal. Unfortunately the lobster was spoiled, as it tasted like ammonia (it had a VERY strong metal taste). As a seafood expert, I know this lobster will eventually send someone to the hospital. They should not be serving spoiled lobsters because when the taste of ammonia is present in ANY seafood, it means the seafood is spoiled and SHOULD NOT be eaten. I eventually paid for the spoiled lobster because its a small family owned restaurant and I do not want to cause them any losses (even though they do not care if they are serving good or spoiled lobster to their customers). Please stop serving spoiled lobster to your customers.

Amazing food nice relaxed atmosphere. I came for an early dinner .I had the shrimps & garlic sauce which came with potatoes chips vegetables and yellow rice .Chicken soup was tasty and brought out hot . Everything was perfect and server John was very attentive and helpful 5 ***** for him !

AMAZING. Portuguese food and I'm big on portuguese. Had the beef ribs yesterday and my friend had the salmon which I tried. GREAT FLAVOR. Great waiters and waitresses very friendly. Delicious food. Decent priced. Definitely coming back. Appetizers are good too. Nice dinning area in back and more chill bar like environment in front.

The lemon chicken was outstanding

A recent impromptu visit to the area brought me to this really special spot in Carteret. Very reasonably priced, staffed by friendly people who are personable and attentive. The ingredients were top notch. (I ordered the pork and clams dish) I also enjoyed a well mixed cosmo. Bring your appetite, a friend, a smile and take a load off. Will come back again when in the area.

La comida es muy buena pero son asaltantes,estuve dos horas y consumí dos entradas y dos platos de fondo que importó un total de $69 y en bebidas envasadas mejor dicho sin preparación $150 dólares, y me cobraron $45 de propina+ $15 dólares por uso de tarjeta+$15 de tax haciendo un total de $75,y todavía ponen dan la recomendación de dar más propina,como es posible que cobren tanto por un consumo de $65 en comida, pagar tax por una botella de whiskey está muy bien, pero lo demás están locos!!!!!!!

My date brought me here to celebrate my 50th birthday. I was amazed when I entered the restaurant. The atmosphere was so good, the staff was attentive and the food was sooooo good. I was happy I dressed appropriately. Definitely will not forget this birthday or this restaurant. It was so close to our hotel, we were able to walk back. Definitely want to return in the near future. ❤❤

We threw a birthday party a few weeks ago for a small group and everything was excellent!!! The food was delicious. There was a great buffet selection. The drink options were reasonable. The service was exceptional. I want to especially highlight how wonderful our experience was with the owner and the main guy at the bar was. They were both so helpful as we set up for the party. Checked up during set up and during the party. The owner was super nice and easy to do business with. I can tell he wanted to make sure our party was successful! During the party everyone checked on us and made sure we were good, replenishing drinks and food throughout the evening. It was a great experience for us and our guests. I highly recommend this restaurant for dinner or small parties! You will not be disappointed. As our party ended there was music in the patio area and it looked like a fun environment to enjoy with family and friends on the weekend!!

We had a surprise party here, given by our daughters. The food was delicious and the service was impressive. Both the staff and management were amazing. Definitely a great place!

Honestly the blandest meal I have ever had. I have never had a lobster tail that lacked flavor. The vegetables and potatoes were oil soaked even the butter tasted unsalted. Best save your money and eat at a place that takes pride in providing a flavorful experience.

One of my favorite restaurants unfriendly staff to go to for great food and atmosphere and we see a band called tuned up once in awhile when they play here they are awesome they do everything from Rock to Disco and this is the only restaurant that has live music and great food

Good amount of food for the price. The traditional Paella was typically good. The Shrimp Diabo tasted like the Portuguese food in Mozambique and great if you like a spicy dish.

Don't let them outside fool you. Oliveiras is excellent. Very reasonable. Spanish portugese food. It's a great place. Food is excellent. Inside is bar seating,booths and tables. All types of food. Sandwiches for lunch. Great salads and of course the food. Glass of vino for 6.00.

Came to see a band and was outside in a tent structure with some ceiling fans. Very hot inside. But the chicken special I had was great. The band "To The Nines" was excellent.

What a fantastic surprise! I was on an overnight trip and decided to give this place a try - a very smart move! I began with the caldo verde, which tasted like fine home cooking - with the most tender slices of chorizo I have ever had. The grouper special, recommended by the waitress, was light, tasty, and very refreshing. The side of fresh mixed vegetables came with cabbage and the mashed potatoes were buttery. The dessert knocked me out! A hazelnut encrusted dark chocolate, hard-shelled ice cream blew my mind. Two dry vodka martinis, perfectly shaken, brought the entire meal together. I want to travel back to Carteret just to dine here!

I don’t normally write reviews but when I saw the review commenting about Saturday night I have to speak up . Olivera’s was packed they were so busy they opened up their party room to accommodate everyone. I have never known Olivera’s to take reservations it has always been walk ins . The staff worked hard that night I appreciate George and his team . I have been going there for years always satisfied with their food and service , I have never seen any staff member demand payment, I love the stuff shrimp I would recommend it to everyone and order a pitcher of Sangria a glass is never enough . Thank you Olivera’s, George and staff you never disappoint!!

We were told when we were seated that there would be no problem making the show. At 6:30pm we still had not been brought our entrees! We got up to walk out, but not before being stopped and told to pay our bill for the salads and sangria we had while waiting. I felt this was adding insult to injury. Regardless, based on our experience, I suggest you don't go near this place on a Saturday night unless you have nothing better to than kill a lot of time waiting for your meal.

This was my first time trying this place, heard of it through friends. The place was nice, clean, and easy to get to. We were a party of 5 and had plenty of room. The food was delicious and generous as we left with our goodies for another meal. The staff was top notch and very friendly.
