The best place for Chinese food in the city; you can choose from and extensive menu of both American Chinese food and traditional Chinese food. The staff is fantastic and the food is amazing. Try the Orange Beef! Update: newly remodeled; it's beautiful.

Tried the Orange Chicken and several items from the dim sum menu. The orange chicken was pretty good with a strong, fresh orange flavor. However, I would not return for the dim sum. The steamed ribs and beef crepe were very overcooked and mushy. The texture was slimy. The shrimp and chive dumplings are tiny and had zero shrimp in them.

This place has been a special place in my heart since I was 12 years old. I can’t believe this establishment has been around for 30 plus years. I was genuinely surprised to see the remodel as I have not made a visit in years. The duck was just as good as I remember it and you really can’t go wrong with any dish here. I didn’t remember this spot being packed when I was a regular years ago. Now it’s insanely popular and packed now. It was relatively unknown and hidden gem for awhile

I gave it a 3 for atmosphere just because it's cute. (Even though we didn't dine in) Friendly staff. I got the fried rice, it was ok. It tasted like it had curry in it, which I thought was unusual, but it was alright. My husband got the general tso chicken. He thought it tasted burnt. He did NOT like it. The crab Rangoon was delicious and so were the shrimp egg rolls. I did take a couple pics. Would we go back ~ eeehhhhhh maybe....

I recently dined at Oriental House and had the opportunity to try their General Tso’s Chicken. The dish was exactly what I expected—crispy chicken pieces coated in a sweet and tangy sauce, with a satisfying balance of flavors. It wasn't extraordinary, but it certainly met my expectations for a classic General Tso’s Chicken. The service at Oriental House was commendable. The staff was attentive and friendly, ensuring that our dining experience was smooth and enjoyable. They were prompt with our orders and checked in regularly to make sure we had everything we needed. Overall, Oriental House delivers on what it promises—a solid meal with good service. If you’re looking for a reliable spot for Chinese cuisine, this is a great choice.

It’s been about 30 years since I’ve been to the Oriental house so I was very curious to see if it was still as good as I remembered. First, I read the reviews To see if it was still top-notch. We couldn’t decide between hot and sour and egg drop so we did the Goldilocks approach and did half-and-half. They were very accommodating input half of one soup and half of the other soup into a large bowl which made it already mixed and perfect! I have to say it was and still amazing! I highly recommend this place and look forward to going back.

This is our second time back since they reopened after the renovations. This time we came for dinner and was surprised with the amount of food for the price. Although the General Tso’s chicken was fine we were really impressed with the vegetable lo mein that was quite delicate and tasty. And yes, we had leftovers for another meal. Service was very good and attentive.

Food is good but service is bad, the floor was unswept under the table, the menus are so old and crinkly they feel gross. When one of tge orders was brought wrong, we were told "no you ordered *wrong dish*" It doesnt make sense to argue over who messed up. We got dim sum for the table, and the prices are listed, but we didn't know how many portions each dish had. Also, we didn't know what the vegetables were stuffed with, which our friend who can't eat certain meats due to her religion found out she ate something she didnt want to and was upset. It's a beautiful restaurant with good food, it just needs certain changes.

I have been going to the Oriental House for 42 years. My grandmother loved this place and always took me for my birthday there. I loved this place and always was excited to go. Yesterday I took my friend there. I loved the "war su gai" dish and it's my favorite. It was not good for the first time in 40 years. I was so disappointed, overpriced lunch menu the amount, but whats worse is since the new ownership and the new remodeling the place has lost it's authenticity and it's originality. No place made dishes like they did. The service was stoic and not as warm as it once was. Major disappointment. I may not go back to my favorite place.

This has become our Chinese restaurant take out of choice. They are closed on Tuesdays so beware. I recommend ordering from Chinese picture book over the traditional/Americanized/commercial plug into any Chinese restaurant menu. They also have a separate menu of dumplings, buns, appetizers and other small munchies type menu. A take out favourites is the Korean bbq ribs, flat noodles, bbq pork buns and sometimes the duck. The service has changed and I’m not sure its for the better.

First time dining at restaurant, which was recommended by a friend. We were promptly seated and gave menus but waited over ten minutes before server took our order. Table behind us came in after us and their orders was taken before ours and there food arrived before ours. We ordered new dishes that we never tried before (Hong Kong Chicken & Wor Su Gai). My food had the gravy dripping off the plate onto servers tray and ended getting all over the table. I had to remove some of the gravy onto another plate just to be able to cut up chicken to eat it. Total mess. The other entree tasted just like my dish but prepared slightly different as it has no vegetables other than the chicken sitting on a bed of warm iceberg lettuce. I was not impressed with service or meal.

It’s the first time we have been back to The Oriental House since they have remodeled and reopened. The place has a more modern and cleaner look and feel. Much improved. Service was very good and the lunch specials were very good and extremely reasonable. Portions were very large for what we paid. Was it the best Chinese food we have had? Maybe not but certainly it was a better experience than our previous visit some time ago. They do offer Dim Sum, however, we didn’t try it this visit. Perhaps in the future we will check it out.

My wife and I were traveling through the area and excited about ordering War Su Gai. The reviews looked promising. What we were served wasn't anything close to the real thing. They used the plain breaded chicken from Sweet and Sour Chicken to pile on top of lettuce. That and the very salty, poorly flavored gravy was all we got. No almonds, no mushrooms, no scallions, no flavor. Oh, the rice... The waitress asked if we wanted steamed or fried rice. My wife chose the fried rice. They gave her a bowl of rice fried only with soy sauce. There was no egg or vegetable pieces in it. It tasted terrible, and they upcharged her a dollar for it. The egg roll wasn't very good either and skimpy on ingredients. We were waiting on someone to refill our water, and since it was 30 minutes till closing, they were too busy cleaning up for the night to notice customers. A bad eating experience. Frankly, if a Chinese restaurant can't get fried rice and egg rolls right, then why should I be surprised when they skimp on the War Su Gai? We wasted $35. Do yourself a favor and look elsewhere.

Update 3/24: Still excellent Chinese food. Everything is freshly made to order and no frozen vegetables. They can be busy during lunch and dinner time so if you plan on eating there plan for a wait. I haven't been here for a while, since I live a good distance away. This place is a very large step up from the average overly sweet, overly oily, Asian fast food that I generally find. I got an eggroll and chicken lo mein. They have the real, curiously hard to find, light-you-up Chinese mustard at the table. (It's so disappointing when you're expecting the real thing and get the fake stuff.) The lo mein was really good. It was full of chicken and the variety of veggies one would expect from a quality plate of lo mein.

I had the vegetable lo mein. It came out hot, and the portion size was large. However, I just didn't like the taste. I am a huge lo mein fan, but this dish just didn't have any depth of flavour, and the noodles were similar to linguine or fettuccine, which I do not like in lo mein. There was also too much juice, so the noodles were swimming in the bowl. Our server was wonderful, and the atmosphere was great, so I will have to give it another go and order something else.

It's been a long time since my wife and I have gone to Oriental House. The last time we went there was well before they remodeled. So we decided to go back for another try. I've been going to orient house since 1973, and this is the first time I've had a bad experience with the food. I'm not sure what's changed, but of note the egg rolls and the crab rangoon were under par from what is normally served. Granted I haven't been there in about a month or two, but I'm guessing they change suppliers and it's not for the better. The vegetable egg rolls had little to no flavor and way too much wrap, and the crab rangoon had little to no filling. Also, the homemade duck sauce which used to be completely awesome, has changed since they remodeled the restaurant. Not sure why they changed the recipe but it has absolutely almost no flavor anymore. I hope that they read this and make it changes as needed, because I do not want to stop going there, but if the food keeps going downhill it will be like every other Oriental restaurant in this city that may changes and not for the better. A lot of the good ones are no longer around.

Our favorite Chinese restaurant! We came back today to celebrate our 23rd wedding anniversay and they made it an unforgettable experience. Our server was friendly, courteous and very attentive to our wishes. As usual we started with a pot of tea along with a bowl of mixed vegetable soup for my wife and a bowl of hot and sour soup, my favorite, for me. Then we enjoyed a plate of delicious pot stickers for an appetizer. For our main course my wife had the shrimp lo mein with mixed vegetables while I opted for the hunan duck, batter dipped and fried served with oyster sauce and delicious mixed veggies. We finished with an order of pork and shrimp dumplings (not pictured. We had those packed up to-go) and a serving of two sweet custard tarts compliments of the house for our anniversary. Altogether we had a fabulous meal (with plenty of leftovers) served by a wonderful crew in very comfortable surroundings. A+ 5 Star ratings for everything, in my book. Asked to speak to the manager who couldnt be bothered to talk to us telling us that if she said she brought the dish out then we definitely ate it and walked away without another word. After countless arguing back and forth they still made us pay and would not give us an itemized receipt when we had picture proof of a missing item as we took pictures of all the dishes before we ate.
