I recently had the pleasure of dining at Osteria 177 in Annapolis for my wife’s birthday, and it was an unforgettable experience from start to finish. We started with the grilled calamari and Prime Cut Beef Carpaccio as appetizers, and both dishes were simply excellent—perfectly seasoned and bursting with flavor. For our main course, we enjoyed the Branzino fillet, which was cooked to perfection in a delicate white wine sauce with tomatoes, capers, olives, basil, and garlic. Every bite was a testament to the chef's skill. The combination of fresh ingredients and exquisite preparation made this dish a true standout. Osteria 177 provided a dining experience that was not only a celebration of my wife’s special day but also a celebration of fine Italian cuisine. We’ll definitely be back!

I love when you read review after review, think you have a plan. Then at zero hour you mess it up and order the wrong thing. Luckily everything I saw was delicious and being in the capable hands of Dimitri (sp?) I left a very happy customer. I will recommend this place very highly.

Our server, Dimitri, was top-notch. Perhaps he was the best server my wife and I have ever had the opportunity to enjoy. His knowledge of the food was superb, and his knowledge of wine was encyclopedic. His recommendations were spot on, and he was incredibly attentive and detail oriented. When we go there again, we will ask for him by name. Our food was out of this world. The portions were just right. The quality was obviously at the highest level. Highly recommended!!

Best Italian in downtown Annapolis and top restaurant in the area. Consistently reliable service and top notch food and drinks. You won’t be disappointed no matter what you get. We usually opt for the chef specials. Their seafood is as fresh as it comes! Make sure to get a reservation, it’s hard to get into on the weekends or during busy season!

Recommended by a friend who lives in Annapolis, this is a great place! Nice, comfortable atmosphere. We did not have reservations and were lucky to get a table. We split a caesar salad and each had one of the pasta specials. Our drinks were great, our waiter was friendly and so nice. The food was delicious. Everything was flavorful and fresh.

The food was delicious- ordered the beef carpaccio for appetizer and had the filet and lamb chops for entrees! Wow! Perfect cook and flavors all around. For dessert, we had the chocolate hazelnut cake and panna cotta. Highly recommend!!

Our family adores this place. We have been twice now. Both times we received exceptional service and food. The Rigatoni alla Norcina was SO good the first time, all 4 of us ordered shamelessly ordered it this time as an entree. Our server, Dmitri, was a registered sommelier and paired our dish with the perfect wine. My only regret is that our stomachs were not big enough to order secondi. Our favorite dessert was the salted Carmel gelato. I would love to explore their other entrees. We will most definitely be back!

Fine dining at its best in Annapolis! Our first time to Annapolis and we will be back. Let’s start with the freshest, warm bread - bread worth eating! For appetizers, I started with baked oysters - Ostriche Alla Fiorentina - they were so tender and delicious. My husband had the Burrata Fresca Con Verdure Alla Griglia, a perfect mix of roasted zucchini and peppers and fresh burrata. For entrees we had the Filetto Di Manzo Con Fonduta E Porcini and Orecchiette Con Broccoli Di Rapa E Salsiccia. The filet was seared to perfection and a perfect medium. They let us know that they were out of orecchiette and subbed in another fresh pasta and it was so tasty. Dessert we both had gelato, espresso with a splash of sambuca. The perfect ending to an unforgettable dinner.

We went here yesterday to celebrate father’s day. Food and service were awesome! I had the seafood lasagna, it was so good, hot and full of flavor! Check this place out!

Absolutely beyond fantastic. Grilled calamari, bread & olive oil, caesar salad with anchovies, Birra Antoniana, Elk with mashed potatoes, Lasagna with zucchini, shrimp, and jumbo lump crabmeat, limoncello cake, tiramisu, and zabaione. The calamari was out of this world incredible, to die for. Charlie the waiter was awesome. Soooo glad I came here and I will definitely come back. We can’t stop talking about how great this restaurant was. By far the best food we had here. Spectacular, 10/10. Came from South Jersey (Aug 2023) Update: (June 2024) Came back again. The food was to die for again!!! Branzino, squid ink pasta with shrimp, calamari, scallops, and clams. Completely insane it's so good!! Charlie was great as usual! Osteria 177 is my favorite restaurant. The food is the top in the region, and the staff is without equal. We were served by Charlie, who is the consummate professional. His attentiveness and humor made the night. I cannot recommend this restaurant strongly enough.

Wow - this restaurant is a whole package! Delicious food, great service, and atmosphere. We had actually just returned from Italy a week prior and decided to try this restaurant for a special occasion. The foods were up to par or even better than what we had in Italy. Our waiter was even from Italy adding to the authentic experience. Prices are on the higher side but worth it!

Probably one of the best Italian foods I have ever had. Ambience, service was awesome as well. Also quiet where I was talk with my family.

An excellent Italian restaurant. I was in the mood for a linguini pescatore or frutti di mare, and they delivered with the Linguini con Nero di Seppia. Delicious! We also had the Lasagna Rustica which was also great. Get the Antipasto Salumeria Italiana and you won't be disappointed. Excellent staff - from the wonderful hostess to to our waiter Dimitri. First class all the way.

Finally a winner...! Tried two restaurants in Annapolis... We had reservation at one... they lost it (we showed them the emsil)... but they seated us... didn't have the wines we wanted... the other didn't even come to table Fortunstely we found this restaurant. Ate at bar... bar tender consumate host. Knew exactly what we wanted. A remarkable Italian Primitivo... The taste of that wine settled the upset of the two previous restaurant attempts. My sense is that if you want a better restaurant, get someone who knows the product and can speak intelligently to the menu. And in this case , someone who understood what our tastes were. The elkstrips with poricini mushrooms and marsala reduction was to die for. Exceptional service, exceptional wine, exceptional service!

We celebrated our 27th wedding anniversary with our kids and granddaughter. The kitchen graciously prepared a dish for our young one early on prior to the rest of the order being taken. So accommodating & we appreciated that. Our food was delicious. The Haddock dish was tender & moist and the sauce was delicious with capers, olives, tomatoes, and butter. Rustica lasagna was the best my daughter has had in a while. Meatballs were fabulous. It’s an experience we won’t forget and will be back for sure!

Yum!! Pasta (Sacchetti Ripieni alle Pere in Salsa di Crema e Porcini) is fabulous. I had a yummy martini at the bar while I waited on my takeout. NOTE: Even the bar requires reservations on a busy night, so plan ahead. I could only have 1 drink and then had to relinquish my seat for a res.

We wanted a private dinner for several guests prior to my daughter's wedding weekend. We had dined at this restaurant before and wanted to share the experience with our out of town guests. Arturo was so accommodating and we had a spectacular 3 course meal in the private room in the lower level of the building. The meal had several choices of appetizers, entrees and desserts and it was a night to remember! The small, intimate atmosphere allowed us to visit with our guests. I couldn't have asked for a better meal. Charlie was the server and he was quite professional and attentive. The food was delivered timely and was delicious!

I tried to make a reservation last night and was unsuccessful. After a long day of work I just wanted to get some food. And only had a short period of time to do so before closing. I've come across this place plenty of times and was extremely interested in eating here. I walk in. It's a full house. Tables are full. I encounter the hostess to whom said they were full. But there may be a bar seat and she would have to run it by the chef. I got the all go! Off I went to the bar... I wasted no time and ordered the duck breast (anatra con ciliege) and a glass of chardonnay. Suggested by the bartender/server, Jake. As I waited, I admired all of the paintings, the atmosphere, and the decor all over. It reminded me of a little Baltimore (Hampden) in Annapolis. My food arrived looking and smelling amazing. It was the perfect amount of veggies (carrots and green beans), whipped potatoes, and a nicely medium cooked duck breast with a nice portion of the cherry reduction sauce. It was like nothing I've ever had before. I've had duck in a lot of places and styles. Very tasty, savory, comforting, and calming. Perfect! Last I went with the berries and Zaba dessert. I was already stuffed as is, but I was curious. And wasn't disappointed at all. As a former single mother, foster mom, after losing my home due to the pandemic, and losing everything I've worked my entire life for this experience was phenomenal. Thank you! [I'll definitely be back!] Came back for Easter Sunday Dinner. Everything was premonition! Short ribs ravioli, Caesar salad, and a pistachio cream (cheese) cake.

The boar Ragu was absolutely stellar, wine selection was robust and diverse, kind and efficient staff.

Consistently the tops. Food is amazing. Presentation is lovely. Bar is well stocked. Jake has some real skill, Maureen is kind and thorough, Charlie is the absolute man.

This is our fave restaurant in Annapolis. Great location on Main Street and steps away from the primary garage parking lot. Despite the large size of the place, the decor and lighting feels intimate and cozy sitting in some of the booths that line one wall. Our server Brian was wonderful and did such a thorough job of describing the highlights from the extensive menu. Everything was first rate starting with the butternut squash bisque with lobster meat. We loved the Octopus fava special - such a interesting puree to go along with a freshly grilled octopus. On to the entrees, we stick with the pasta dishes but make no mistake there are tons of meat and fish selections that we will have to try on the next visit. Linguine Vongole came with great portion of Manila clams; Vegetarian Penne came with over 8 types of vegetables; and my fusilloni cubano with amazing chunk of crab meat and rock shrimp. All of the entrees rocked. The warm bread generously provided was certainly not wasted as we dipped all remaining gravy and sauce. Be prepared to spend more than the usual here but we came away happy and that’s the mark of a fine gourmet restaurant.

The quality of the dishes far exceeds the prices. You get gourmet-level food without breaking the bank.

This restaurant was recommended by a new friend who raved about it. She was spot ON. This place is very special - impeccable service, such delicious Cesar salad, ravioli and lasagna - we savored and enjoyed every bite! Truly. The tiramisu desert and coffee at the end of the meal were also good, but did not match the taste and quality of the salad and main dishes. The wine and drink menu was extensive and they even had a corresponding one to go with the extensive dessert menu (we didn’t sample anything alcoholic ourselves). Atmosphere was just right - warm on a chilly evening, low romantic lighting and a full dining room full of happy customers - that said it all. The only tiny quibble I had was that they charged us $4/ea. for our ‘still’ water. Maybe I don’t dine at enough fine/expensive restaurants, but I’ve never been charged for basic water before. A small irritation. Make a reservation and just GO - you will thank me.

Amazing ambiance and amazing staff, everyone was quick and attentive. Food was amazing and I felt so satisfied after, I took my wife out for Valentine's weekend and we were so content leaving out. 100 percent would come again.

My absolute favorite place to eat! Perfect for a kid free date night! Drinks are always amazing and food is the absolute best! You need a reservation for both the dining room and bar. Generally need a reservation a week or more in advance. Have dined in their private dining room for events more than once and that was amazing too! You literally can't go wrong with anything on the menu! Highly recommend!!!

What a beautiful dinner. Osteria is part Italian, part steakhouse, and boy do they do both VERY well. The staff is absolutely fantastic as is the bartender and their mixology skills. We cannot rave enough about our meal. The linguine alla matriciana was saucy, flavorful, and a large portion. The Kansas City prime beef tenderloin was out of this world. Melt in your mouth medium rare, topped with pate de foie gras and black truffles in a Marsala sauce…AH-mazing. We had a blast being from out of town and cannot wait to come back.

Sat us next to the bar so the big screen tv was distracting sometimes. Service is always top flight and wines by the glass are very good and paired well with my lobster ravioli in saffron sauce and her Wagu cannelloni.

Chilean Sea Bass was excellent.

If I am going to pay $35 for pasta I don’t mind doing it here. The panne vodka was amazing and Very filling . Started with arugula salad which was also amazing, prosciutto and melon -amazing super fresh with super thin slice prosciutto (and we have had this around the world) sautéed spinach great, just a bit too much garlic. Bread-amazing, super light great tasting olive oil. Husband had cinghiale (wild boar) lasagna which he also really liked.

Dimitri was our server and said he was a somalier. Due to past experience, we were skeptical, but boy were we wrong. We had Ostriche alla Fiorentina, Seabass Cileno all'Escarola, and Linguine con Astice Fradiavolo e Scampi. He paired all of our food with a delicious glass of wine. The food was so fresh and cooked with care. We had a great experience and will be back.

Maybe the best restaurant in Annapolis. The menu is substantial with the day’s specials mixed in. It’s not often I’m stumped by what to order. I was dying to try at least a dozen entrees. I decided to have the Orecchiette with a special appetizer of veal carpaccio. Both were fantastic with a mix of flavors that were well balanced and flavorful. Service was impeccable - very professional. Highly recommend.

My wife and I celebrated our one year anniversary at Osteria 177. Thanks to Osteria's amazing staff, we can honestly say this was one of the greatest meals we've ever had. First of all, Dimitri provided flawless service with his sommelier background and thorough knowledge of the menu. He recommended the burrata with prosciutto and the calamari - both of which tasted so fresh and good. For our main course, we had the Rigatoni alla Norcina and another seafood pasta with vodka sauce (apologies as I forgot the name but please reference the picture). And for dessert, we had the Zabaione over caramel gelato. We cannot recommend this restaurant enough - we have become the biggest fans of Osteria. Thank you again to Dimitri and the staff for making our special day that much more special. Their kitchen knows what they're doing! Five stars across the board.

The food was phenomenal. The staff was very knowledgeable and accommodating to our dietary restrictions. It really is 5 stars on food quality and demeanor. I had to ding them because the service was just a little slower than it should have been for a restaurant of this caliber. I would absolutely dine here again and can highly recommend it.

Well just have to say, It doesn't get better than this in Annapolis ! Arrived to celebrate my sons 35th Birthday. Family of 10, greeted friendly by the hostess at the door, table ready immediately without a wait, sat and settled in and approached quickly with menus and took our drink orders. 6 adults and 4 children under 7... Wine suggestions were perfect and drinks delivered timely. Appetizers: Beef Carpaccio, Oysters Rockefeller, Melon and Prosciutto and all were great, But, we would have liked the Oysters to come out bubbling hot rather than just warm. Entrees: Adults ordered 1 Filet, 2 Veal Saltimbocca, 1 Linguine and Clams, and 1 Pasta Bolognese Kids all had either buttered penne or spaghetti The Filet cooked perfectly medium rare, The 2 ( Birthday Boy and Wife) that received the Veal were raving and finished every bite! the 2 pasta dishes were completely consumed. Just the right portions to be comfortable since we are not a take home leftovers family. Kids played well together while they ate their pasta... What a great night, I'm glad that O-177 has kept their High Quality Meals and Service. Thank you Arturo for setting the Bar so High !

Finally, I got a reservation on a Sunday night. Our server was Charlie, very professional & courtes. Dinner arrived in a decent time. The serving size is decent, and the flavor n taste was good. The serving of veal is good for 2. Highly Recommended.

Fantastic food, great atmosphere. We ordered the clams and mussels appetizer, clam pasta, and grilled calamari appetizer. Not a single clam or mussle was the least bit gritty or unopened- they were all amazing. There is a dress code so dress slightly nicer.

Impeccable food and service. As a vegetarian, I loved the gnocchi with gorgonzola sauce. Our server is very meticulous and ensured everyone at the table was catered to. Amazing restaurant.

I came to Osteria to celebrate my husband's birthday. With the exception of two events (which I describe later), the evening was wonderful. Food was fantastic, waiter was good, and we enjoyed seeing that this restaurant---which we have visited on two occasions before---has maintained its culinary excellence. Our problems were as follows. Two our left---a lovely, appropriately dressed couple also celebrating quietly a birthday. Two our right---a loud, inappropriately dressed woman who cursed and used racial slurs regarding Baltimore neighborhoods. She had no sensitivity and her table began loudly fascinating on what it would be like to do into a "dangerous ghetto." Totally inappropriate and insulting to any customers from that city or those neighborhoods. Her appearance alone (shorts that did not cover her derriere, revealed breasts, and possible intoxication), should have alerted the hostess to either not admitting her to the restaurant or placing her at a table away from other customers. She stuck out like a sore thumb. Also, we were first shown a table by the kitchen. This seems to happen a lot in restaurants when guests are not white. We saw plenty of nice tables in other locations, and requested that we not be seated by the kitchen. Fortunately, that request was granted. Those things aside, we have enjoyed Osteria and its sister restaurant in Glen Burnie. We will come again, but with our eyes a little more alert to who is seated next to us.

If you do have extra time, it is a fun area to walk around with shops and bars and a nice wine bar down the street (Red Red Wine Bar). Very nice menu with Italian classics and seafood. Arancini and octopus were both excellent appetizers. The caesar salad is one of the best I have had. Two of us shared the dover sole, which was lovely. The third had spaghetti and meatballs. Nice that it was not an overwhelming amount of food. Tiramisu for dessert was outstanding. There is a full bar and the drinks are excellent. Wine list has some very nice Italian choices. Service is top notch. As noted in other reviews, you are charged for water here as the chef does not approve of tap water apparently. No notation of this on the menu (there probably should be) but it is only $4 so really not a big deal. Overall an excellent restaurant, we'll definitely be back when in the area.

After a great meal during our first visit last July, we looked forward to treating our son and daughter-in-law for his birthday. The food was good, which of course is the main thing about a restaurant however there were a couple of things that prevented me from giving 5 stars.
