Pricy but worth it. Great food. Great for special occasions.

This is an exceptional restaurant. Not only is the food delicious but the staff is outstanding. It is rare to find such good customer service.

The only disappointment was I am allergic to Brocoli and I asked for sautéed mushrooms and the waiter was really aggressive and told me no.

We recently had a bridal shower at Pepe's Apt 2 and it was lovely. The owner and staff made the experience just perfect. They had the tables beautifully set, added flowers that coordinated with our colors, the food was delicious, and the service was wonderful. Thank you for a truly special event.

Went for my wife’s birthday last night. It was a Friday night. We were greeted right away by Peppe himself. It was an absolutely fantastic experience from drinks, to apps, to the entrees. I cannot recommend this enough. We will definitely be back for more special occasions.

A must go for baby/bridal showers! I cannot say enough amazing things about this place! Between the food and the staff they do an amazing job and create an intimate and charming event. After trying their food I will be back for dinner soon!

Friday lunch was delicious. The atmosphere is lovely and refined. The Peppe’s and spinach salads were very good. The entrees of veal piccata and grilled halibut were excellent as well. Service was attentive but not overbearing. Tony Bennett and Frank Sinatra music was a wonderful addition to the experience. I can’t wait to return in spring when I can dine in their outdoor garden.

Excellent food and service! Went with a group of friends and we sat upstairs in a private room. We had a wonderful Seafood appetizer, the Pork Chop & Filet. Everything was delicious!

My husband and I went to this restaurant for his birthday. It's really nice that the owner greets you at the door and make sure you get seated. The waiter, Mark, was just attentive enough and not overbearing. The food was really good! My husband had the chicken marsala and he said the sauce was delicious! I had the special that night which was halibut and it was cooked perfectly and seasoned Italian style which was also delicious. They gave him a dessert for his birthday and then we had a after dinner cocktail at the bar. I think it was Leo behind the bar and he seems to be an every night fixture! Be sure to see him too if you go there. I would highly recommend this restaurant for any special occasion or just a nice night out!

While the only downside is the room was a bit too dark the tasting menu was amazing!!!! Should I have ate 10 courses maybe not but that's a tomorrow problem!

Spectacular food and even better service. The ambiance inside is outstanding. Sitting downstairs and looking out the large windows is beautiful. Sitting upstairs feels almost private as guests are divided up into smaller groups in the different rooms. We want to come back and eat outside. The patio area looks wonderful. Can't wait to go back.

My husband & I grew up in NY. My biggest gripe with STL is the lack of quality Italian food (yes we’ve been to the hill 🙄). I wish I had come here sooner!! It’s the first restaurant here that provided me a taste of home. Dinner was absolutely incredible!

Tried to get reservations for two downstairs but was told could not have a table after 7:00. I explained I would take any evening that was available on any night but was told again they were booked solid for the next few weeks, really they ain’t Tony’s

Amazing place, phenomenal food and great service. We enjoyed Peppe’s when it was on the Hill and rediscovered it when we moved back to STL. Wendy took great care of us and can’t wait to go back.

We dined here with a large party as part of a wedding weekend. The atmosphere was top notch and truly felt as 5 star as it gets. The server was very attentive, knowledgeable about the menu and had a wonderful attitude. The only issue was the steak we ordered medium came out as well done as you could possibly get. They fixed it asap and it ended up being the best steak we’ve ever had to this day. We tried several appetizers, several desserts, our favorite being the tiramisu. My in laws haven’t stopped raving about the Halibut! I would highly recommend Peppes to anyone looking for fine dining in Kirkwood.

Everything was fantastic from the food to the people. Great atmosphere, met several couples and had a great time. They were busy but we were able to sit at the bar and eat.

Much smaller portions. So sad. Great quality though. But harder on the pocket book.

Portions have totally SHRANK! Quality is still great but more expensive as prices went up slightly along with smaller portions. So sad.

What a great experience. They live up to every bit of the hype. Staff was super kind and personable, and the food was terrific and also very timely. Came out quickly but never felt rushed. Definitely will make it a point to visit again.

Wow! What a gem to have in our city! Went with a group of 10 and the service was not only spectacular but they nailed the timing of everything as well. Entertained business clients from New York City and they were totally impressed! We even threw a few curve balls to our waitstaff and they were kind and accommodating! Can't wait to go back on a date night too! So cozy and romantic!

Had a fabulous lunch for Mother’s Day. I live in Arizona now and whenever I’m in St. Louis visiting my Mom and her husband, a meal at Pepe’s is a MUST. Everything on the menu is fresh and delicious. This time the meatballs with polenta fries were perfection. Thank you, Pepe!

From the moment I arrived, I was impressed by the attentiveness and friendliness of our waitress, Sam, who was extremely helpful in guiding us through the menu and making recommendations. The highlight of the evening was definitely the food, which was outstanding in every way. The salmon and halibut were cooked to perfection, with just the right balance of flavors and seasoning. Every dish we ordered was top-notch, and the presentation was as impressive as the taste. What really set Peppes Apt 2 apart, however, was the exceptional service. Peppe's Apt 2 is amazing. My husband and I went there for the first time last night. The food is was so delicious and perfectly portioned. The restaurant was beautifully decorated and romantic which was perfect because we were celebrating our wedding anniversary. The service was top notch. Our server Sam was so pleasant and so funny. She really went out of her way to make our anniversary dinner special. The entire staff was so helpful. They are a well oiled machine at Peppe's. Great teamwork 👏. We can't wait to visit again.

This is what all Italian restaurants should aspire to be. Went with great friends and had an exceptional experience. From the superior service, expertly crafted drinks to the perfectly prepared meals, it was a joy from begining to end. I especially enjoyed the freshness of the Caprese salad and the bountiful bowl of pappardelle with delicate pasta. We had the pleasure at the end of the meal to be joined by Peppe. This is what makes this one of my best culinary experiences. It was apparent how much he cares for his guests and how they are treated. Grazie Peppe!

Service was good until it wasn't

I have eaten here four times and there has always a very friendly, very professional welcome and service. The food has been excellent; well prepared and delicious. The ambience is somewhat unique; it feels semi-formal as it’s dominant theme is an off-white color with soft, warm lighting. It strikes a great balance between elegant and comfortable lightened up a but more with staff being so friendly and low-key while highly professional in their service. A great restaurant for a romantic dinner, or with friends and family.

I've been driving past this restaurant several times a week for years but hadn't gotten around to trying it. Recently several friends really enjoyed it, so we selected it for our anniversary dinner. Reading the stellar reviews, we were really looking forward to dinner there. Unfortunately, our experience left much to be desired. When we arrived on a Saturday night, it was very busy and quite noisy, which obviously was to be expected, and it was a few minutes before a server arrived at our table. Knowing the problems that restaurants are having with finding help, we were okay with the delay and spent that time admiring the lovely room. Unfortunately, the server who finally arrived was uninterested, unfriendly, unhelpful, and borderline hostile. That became evident almost immediately when they returned to take our order. They made no comment about the menu or any off menu items, standing with pad and pen in hand as if we were in a diner. It appeared to us from the online and printed menus that the emphasis was on tasting menus with varying numbers of courses. We questioned the server about this regarding the size of the portions, and what would be a reasonable order for two of us. We were informed that "most everyone orders ala carte and they usually order a salad and an entree." OK, we said, but we were interested in some of the appetizers as well. We particularly asked about several entrees on the menu that were labeled as "split entree portion" or something like that and were informed that the veal chop is "really huge" at 24 ounces with no further elaboration. I asked whether there were any off menu specials and what was the fish of the day and was told that the fish is "the halibut we always have." When the server left the table after completing our order, my normally laid back husband commented that the server was "the worst I've ever seen in a high end restaurant," echoing my thoughts. I mentioned that this reminded me of the nasty teenager thing of leaving a penny tip, which of course we would never do, but I suggested that one way to give a message of sorts would be to calculate exactly 15% down to the cent and add that as our tip without rounding up, which we did, so that they received $XX.65. When a table near us cleared out, it was less noisy and we were able to hear other servers behaving more normally, doing such things as describing items and volunteering information about the sides that come along with the entrees, even offering parmesan at the table for one of the courses. One server even took a photo of the party at a neighboring table. I would never have dared to ask. I should add that the hostess who greeted us was very pleasant. Many reviews mention that the owner typically greets and interacts with the diners and is pleasant and likeable. If he was on site, we never knew about it. We weren't particularly impressed with the food, either. Everything was beautifully presented and really lovely. However, there was nothing that really stood out or made us consider a return visit. Overall, two appetizers, a split salad, and two entrees were basically very bland. Nothing was at all adventurous or unusual. We wondered whether that was something about the Kirkwood location and whether this restaurant caters to a very conservative clientele. I can't answer that, but the menu items all sounded and looked better than they tasted. Our favorite thing was the chocolate ice cream pie. When we left, we noticed a party seated in the garden area. It looked really pleasant there and much quieter than inside. We weren't offered that option when we made the reservation or when we arrived.

If you have not tried this restaurant, you are truly missing out on a culinary experience. The ambiance is beautiful. The service is wonderful. The food…..exceptional. Everything together makes for the perfect evening out every time. One of our favorite STL gems…..

Fantastic. One of the most flavorful meals I've ever had, in a quaint romantic setting. I highly recommend the shrimp scampi - the best I've ever had. Small update - been here several times since. Still fantastic.

Pepe's is a great, quaint venue for dinner. The staff is very accommodating and professional, and the food is amazing. The halibut is the best seller for a reason, since I discovered it, that's the only meal I order, but I've never had a bad meal. Very romantic dining experience. Anytime we have a sitter, Pepe's is the only place I want to go. The bartender, Leo, is the best!

We made our second visit here on our anniversary on Sat night. The food and service was simply fantastic. The attention to detail was obvious. We each really enjoyed our meals and had the best time at a great table upstairs. The halibut was the best I've had and I would highly recommend it!!

Fantastic evening and food! Our first time visiting and my husband and I both agreed it was amazing and we'll be back! We sat outside on the patio and loved the evening ambiance, it wasn't loud but a nice environment, listening to everyone laugh and have a good time. Our server Joshua was perfect too, recommended a wine I liked, checked in on us at the right times. We started with wine and then ordered 3 entrées, we each had our own entrées and split a pasta entrées because well we felt like coming to an Italian place called for pasta! We got chicken parm and marsala and a beef pasta, everything was amazing! We both agreed the chicken parm was our favorite though, the sauce was terrific. We ended up getting a chocolate ice cream pie, it was decent but couldn't top the food we got. Thank you for a terrific setting, service and food! We'll definitely come back!

We moved out of the area and haven’t eaten here for 3 years. At 6:15pm on a Friday, I called to see if we could sit at the bar for dinner. Pepe said yes come over now. Where do I start? We were seated promptly. Leo (best bartender in the world) remembered my drink and welcomed us back. My husband had the amazing halibut and I ordered the shrimp scampi with a side of parpadelle. Pepe and all servers were masked. They have removed some indoor tables and a couple of bar stools and the ambiance was just lovely. The patio is just as stunning as I remember with five or six outdoor garden rooms to dine al fresco. Superb meal, wonderful owner and a bartender second to none! Truly heaven (cielo)!

Waiter was very kind and helpful with describing items on menu, but he seemed a bit busy. The servers assistants were very on point and always refilling waters and cleaning off dishes. Food was good and the portions were normal. Not too much or too little. 1st time experience was all around good.

Even though I have not had the opportunity to experience the fine dinning here at Peppe's , I was able to meet the owner so seems very nice and outgoing. The outside eating area was beautiful (like eating in a tea garden). Inside was absolutely exquisite. Very nice selection on wines and for the menu everything sounded delicious. Even though I've not tried yet I would recommend this fine dinning experience to anyone especially for special occasions. To the owner, thank you again Mr. Peppe for taking the time to talk with me today. Looking forward to hearing from you later next week.

We had a fantastic dinner at Peppe's. We enjoyed an appetizer that included shrimp, ravioli and eggplant. Everyone enjoyed their entrees. We had Shrimp, pasta Alfredo, fish and salads. All the staff were very friendly. Helpful with wine and cocktail choices. We will definitely go back

So happy Pepe is still doing his magic. Been dining with him since the 80's. Victorian house with impeccable grounds, dining on the first floor, single dad lives with his daughter on the 2nd (although she's probably married by now). Better than Tony's. Yes this will cost you so save up for that very special night no woman will forget

Lots of great restaurants in Kirkwood, Pepe’s Apartment 2 is not one !! Rude owner ignored us when we arrived for our reservation. When we inquired he said “ You are unhappy, I now don’t have a table for you. “ Save yourself from an overpassed meal with bad service and go elsewhere. We went to Cafe Provençal and it was great!! Their food was outstanding and the service was efficient and friendly. Pepe should take a lesson from them on how to treat your clientele. Rudeness doesn’t sell!! Patti H.

The food was amazing! I asked if I could order Veal Marsala (not on the menu) and the gladly did so. The sauce was fantastic and the veal melted in my mouth. My husband and his friend ordered a chicken special and the steak... both were great. But the hit of the night was ordered by my friend. It was the HALIBUT special and it was by far the best fish I have eaten. SO GOOD! Our server Ray was attentive and pleasant. Peppe was also very friendly. Great experience! We will be back soon.

This is a fancy night out restaurant. The prices are on the menu online, why are you visiting this place and giving service, food and atmosphere a 5, then calling it a 1??? This place is a great value for the experience, if you can’t read a menu before you go out, they have one at the Taco Bell drive thru that might be more your speed. Gtf out of here.

We were looking for a nice Italian restaurant to eat at for our anniversary and this place delivered. Absolutely outstanding service (Connor and Austin were phenomenal) and equally amazing food. We were some of the first guests to experience their upstairs dining area and it was exactly the quiet, romantic experience we were looking for. Hats off to the owner for the complementary champagne. This place was truly amazing.
