The chicken was juicy and flavorful, the rice was perfectly cooked, and the tostones were crispy and delicious. The salad was fresh and the salad dressing was so tasty. The salchi papa was a unique and tasty addition to the meal. The homemade pineapple juice was refreshing and the homemade sauces added an extra kick to the dishes. The service at Pio Pio was excellent. The staff was friendly and attentive, making sure we had everything we needed throughout our meal. Despite the long drive from Greensboro, we felt that the experience was well worth it. Overall, I highly recommend Pio Pio for anyone looking for delicious and authentic Latin American cuisine. The food, service, and atmosphere all exceeded our expectations. We will definitely be returning to Pio Pio in the future.

Please do not overcook your chicken. Use a temperature probe. I love this restaurant but they are a hit or miss. They usually overcook the chicken and it's so dry. When the chicken is not over cook it's very good.

The lousy roast chicken seemed to have been reheated, the jelly was lousy, bad taste, I ordered a chaufa and it had no salt, it was also reheated in the microwave, the food was lousy, I don't recommend it at all, and they charged me $15 too much, meaningless. authorization, everything wrong, no return.

Best Latin American fare in the area. Love the sauces. Too bad they stopped the catering by the tray chicken option that I used to get frequently before.

Asked for Chauffa rice with vegetables. One visit I was given zucchini. The next visit I was given green beans. When I asked for Zucchini I was told I should’ve specified and now instead of exchanging them I would need to pay $8 more dollars to get what I asked for. He stated it was a $1 extra to add. But he had already charged me $1 extra to sub the yuca out. When I told him I wasn’t paying $8 extra. HE THREW MY RECEIPT AT ME and said just wait here. It then took 30 minutes to get my food. I asked for a manager he said when ever they feel like being here they will be here. He also refused to tell me his name

The food was so good I didn’t get to take a picture of it. Amanda was my server she was super sweet. The interior of the restaurant is very clean. The food also came out quickly.

I moved from NYC in 2022. My favorite restaurant in the City was Pio Pio. I figured when I moved to NC, Pio Pio was something I wouldn't get to enjoy often. OMG, when I discovered - out of the blue - that Charlotte has Pio Pio, I was ecstatic!!! The food and service is identical! Although I will say the portions and prices are even better in Charlotte! So HAPPY!!! I will definitely be a repeat customer just like in NY!

I could be wrong, but isn’t this place categorized at Peruvian. This was so bland… maybe to those that aren’t really Peruvian won’t get the difference of flavors. But if you have already had the taste of authentic Peruvian food, you will be severally disappointed here. They offered beans with the chaufa…. Enough said. The workers were nice though and the restaurant atmosphere was nice as well, but the food….

My rice tasted and looked like re-heated rice, the chicken had no flavor, the plantains and beans were the best part. Wont be going back.

Hidden Gem...Best Red Snapper, Rice & Beans I've had!!!!

Today may have been the worst customer service experience I’ve had in recent memory. I love Pio Pio. I have eaten here dozens of times over probably at least 10 years. We were seated as soon as we walked in, and ordered our food shortly thereafter. She brought us our drinks, and then we sat at our table and watched food being served to THREE other parties who arrived to the restaurant AFTER us. I don’t know if the waitress forgot to put in our order, but every time we were able to get her to make eye contact with us, she said, “Food is coming,” in an exasperated manner. There was nothing complicated about our order, so it didn’t make sense. 40-45 minutes after we arrived, she brought us our plates, one or two plates at a time. She never apologized to us or even acknowledged that we had sat there for 40 minutes watching other people who arrived after us eat the same food we had just ordered. Waitresses and waiters are humans, and we all have bad days and we all make mistakes. What would have made this entire experience different would have been for the waitress to even acknowledge or apologize for our wait. Her indifference to us was frankly bizarre. I don’t know if it was a language barrier or what, but it wasn’t cool, and it ruined the whole experience. I eat out at least once a week, seated at a table interacting with a waiter or waitress, and this was the worst experience I can remember. The $8 salad I had was delicious, as was the $10 beans and rice. This won’t keep me from waiting here again - it’s one of my favorite restaurants - but it was disappointing. I hate leaving a negative review for a place that I actually LOVE, but this was unacceptable.

Love this restaurant! The sangria & pulled chicken are so delicious! The food is great, reasonably priced & service is excellent!

1st. At first, the tables covered with paper like the beds in doctors' offices give a poor appearance. We ordered red snapper, jelly and roast beef. The snapper was not fried, but rather well toasted, which makes it lose all its flavor. The jelly also had toasted tilapia, which is what saves the meat. I do not recommend it as an option to attend either as a family or individually. For me it is a place of no return.

Absolutely love their food. I get all white meat and it is tender and juicy. The mix of flavor between the rice and beans and sauce is delicious.

PioPio Chicken has been a mainstay option when we are looking for something different in our meal options. The food is always good and the service is congeal and pleasant.

Jesus was an amazing server. This is a small establishment with robust flavor. If you are looking for Peruvian food, this place will not disappoint.

Better empanadas always good food and customer service

We have enjoyed this place over the years but the last few times have been less than enjoyable. The first time we thought “ok it’s a one off” but it just kept happening. The food was just ok to that’s terrible. Dry and over cooked chicken with dried beans. Then this past Sunday with only 3 other tables being occupied they “lost” our order. No apologies, no discount really no accountability. Waiter was more interested in social media on his phone than anything else. It will be awhile before we return. Too many other good restaurants in the area to have to experience that again.

Amazing food! The best Colombian/peruvian whatever it is they’re doing is amazing! If the food wasn’t as good I wouldn’t come as much because most times the staff there acts as if they don’t want to be there and act like it as well. Anyways, food is banging but service is 2/5. I do recommend it and I always have but just note that about service.

This place is not what it used to be, it must have changed ownership, I loved their food but the last time I went the dishes were not the same and the quality decreased quite a bit

My fiancé and I wanted to try something new.. we love Peruvian food, but this place was just disappointing. We're both from South Florida, so our standards may be a little higher having lived in Cuban-Central. We spent ~$45 dollars. I ordered the Carne Asada. The meat was cooked properly, but it had basically no flavor. It wasn't any better with the strange vinegar and parsley mix. I had a side of tostones, that again didn't have any flavor. Too soft, supposed to be crunchy like a chip and a little salty. The rice was the only flavored food, which isn't nearly filling enough on its own. I also ordered an arepa; I used to get them at the South Florida Fair all the time, so I know how it should taste. This one didn't have the fluffiness to the dough and the cheese was flavorless. I didn't finish it. My fiancé ordered the Loma Saltado. The steak was a little too tough, but had okay flavor. The rice and beans were pretty good, good flavor and texture. The fried yuca wasn't nearly fried enough, it was too soft and also had no flavor. The only thing that saved any of this was the garlic sauce and the green sauce. Definitely won't be coming back. Felt like a waste of money.

We order Pio Pio for dinner often but have had several issues with them not taking responsibility for both quality and delivery issues. Most recently this evening. We ordered $50 worth of food through the PioPio app because The same order would be $64 through DoorDash. The DoorDash driver marked our order as delivered and noted in the comments that he “handed the food to us.” However, the food was not handed to us and The picture showed the driver took showed the food was left in our building lobby. I went down stairs to pick up the food and it was no where to be found. I contacted PioPio who instructed me to contact DoorDash who instructed me to contact the driver directly, who then instructed me to call DoorDash back who then instructed me to contact PioPio. When I called PioPio back they said they had to speak to a manager. It’s now been over an hour, no one has reach out and I’ve called back 8 times and they are not answering the phone. These are silly games to play with customers over $50. Ultimately, it’s the driver’s fault, but PioPio hired DoorDash for the delivery, so it’s PioPio’s responsibility when the food fails to arrive to its customer. It would be one thing if this was a one off issue. I like PioPio. The food isn’t always the best, but it’s not bad either. These are stupid games to play with customers. Just do the right thing.

I’ve been eating here for five years straight. I always have to ask for napkins here. It’s ridiculous, stop being stingy with napkins that’s so petty. You also need to correct the language barrier with your newer employees it had gotten out of control these past few years. It’s like pulling teeth ordering a meal with small special requests.

I've been a loyal customer at Pio Pio for over 6 years, spending thousands on various occasions. Despite alerting the manager about an undercooked chicken in my recent order, accompanied by a photo and receipt, he declined to take any corrective action—no refund, no future discount. It's disheartening that this decision, aimed at saving $12, may cost the restaurant much more in future business. Beware before dining here. I will certainly be spreading the word to my network.

The environment was clean, inviting, and the food was very flavorful. For the appetizer, I purchased a chicken empanada, and for the main course, chicken tacos with rice and beans. Service was quick. I received the appetizer first, and my first impression was that the crust of the empanada was oily and greasy. The same was true for the tacos; their shells were slightly oily. I recall tasting the cooking oil, which was not overpowering but still present. I was not pleased with this aspect, making the crust and shell the less favorable parts of my dining experience. On the other hand, once you get past these negatives, the chicken is well-seasoned and very tasty. I removed the taco shell, mixed the rice, beans, and chicken from the tacos with the green sauce, and had a delightful lunch. Overall, the chicken was divine. I would go back, but next time, I’ll try the chicken portions and avoid anything with a shell or crust.

My favorite goto is the "Arroz con Pollo". With the green super spicy sauce. That hot sauce is hands down absolutely delicious. Parking sometimes is difficult, but the food is delicious.

The food is delicious and I order the same thing every time. The snapper fish with saffron rice but my issue is the service. Every time I order over the phone and they say “It will be ready in 15-20 minutes”. And every single time I go inside expecting my food to be ready and I end up having to wait a whole hour before the food is ACTUALLY done. So 15-20 minutes turns into 1.5hrs and today I was fed up with this happening and asked for a manager. The male goes to get another male who was not a manager, who said the manager is not in today but will be available on Monday between 11am-12noon. I will be back on Monday to complain because this happens literally every time at this location and that fish it too expensive for me to be treated this way.

I order to go. I never had issues before but this time the food specially the soup was extra salty there was no way to take a sip of how salty it was. It was really disappointing. Please change the chef if he/she is new is messing up the good food you had before.

Something happened not too long ago, a change in recipe or ingredients (probably both). The chicken used to be amazing and now it is barely edible. It is a shame because it was really fantastic.

Got the 1/2 chicken with rice, beans, plantains and side of green sauce to-go and really enjoyed this meal. Everything was flavorful, the beans were delicious, and the chicken was tender and juicy. The portion is big enough to split into 2 meals. Gladly recommend this place!

The beans were watery, had only one tiny piece of plantain as seasoning, the steak was flat and dry it comes with a disgusting sauce mainly vinegar & parsley. The waiter took my daughters plate without asking if she was finished, and mine also I wanted to finish my maduros. I left 20% tip because this review will make them do better.

Great service, delicious cuisine, and exceptionally clean surroundings. It's a lot of food for lunch, and portions were generous for the cost. Will undoubtedly return to try more menu items.

Pio pio has great food but I always ask for white sauce only and they NEVER get it right. Tonight, I forgot to check - ugh. And ordered dark meat only… ugh got mixed.

No one was at the front when we arrived. They weren't welcoming. We got seated and unfortunately it was hard to communicate because my wife and I didn't speak Spanish. Tables were too close to each other. Food was okay and less flavorful than the Peruvian food that we're used to and we found out after we left that this is more Colombian than Peruvian. When we were ready to bill out there was no one to give my card to and ended up paying online via qr code. I undertand if they didn't have enough people to work but it could've been a better experience if they were friendly and welcoming. They need to be more attentive and caring. Will not go back.

We use to eat here years ago when they were under different management. Today the food was terrible, they got the order wrong and the service was poor. My hubby said they did not greet him nor said thank you. We will NOT be back.

Yo fui en estos dias al restaurante, desde que llegue lá atencion fue malisima, comenzando en la entrada, el lugar estaba casi vacío y me colaron en la mesa de lado de la entrada, tenia a los meseros pasando encima de la mesa, dejando las ordenes de doordash encima de mi cabeza, en mesero era poco amable, fui con mi pareja que no es latino, y el le hablaba en inglés y le respondía en español, y hubo mucha confusión, mismo que yo estuviera pidiendo por el, el mesero fue muy arrogante, pregunté al mesero si tenían Aji o rocoto, que por bueno ser un picante regional pregunté, el mesero estaba en las nubes y simplemente respondió muy mal educadamente, la comida estuvo buena, a comparación de la atención, realmente por el valor de la comida, ni compensó pasar ese mal rato, salí muy insatisfecha, por el trato del personal, realmente me quito la ganas de regresar a ese lugar, deberían capacitar mejor a sus empleados porque no solo sirve tener una buena comida si tú personal es todo lo contrario.

This is a NO PERUVIAN RESTAURANT! It says Peruvian but it's a Colombian one. This restaurant has some Peruvian options, but of course in another style. The worst Lomo Saltado that I ever tried, needs a lot of culinary improvement. I tried to add salt pepper/ dressing, but the taste was awful. Even I tried better Colombian restaurants. Service is ok, I only liked their Passion Fruit drink. I was very disappointed to pay for food that I didn't eat because It was terrible, and the server didn't offer anything else. If you can, please choose another place to eat.

Great food. Hard to order it the way you want it. They don't want you substituting sides even when you tell them you will pay more. Language barrier unfortunately makes eating in frustrating. We have one of the family meals, the chicken was dry. No refills. We also have chicken empanadas and they were small and $3 for each. I’m Latina and believe me when I said don’t spend your money here. And plus this is not a Peruvian restaurant.

Peruvian delicious dishes with nice desert. The coffee is american style. But the sangría is delicious!!

I’m Peruvian and I DONT recommend the LOMO SALTADO!!! It got it be one of the WORST, I ever had in my Life , way too much vinegar, steak is too thin and over cook, the flavor is not there, Nice Place but the food Not so much.

I've been coming here for years. The food is excellent but since they've converted the bottles to this contraption here, it's a huge health hazard. People are breathing over it people are touching the spoons onto their food. This is definitely a concern.

Me and my husband go there all the time and this time we went was this new server she said her name was gabby, honestly it was the best experience that we had in there it was also her first day working there. She answered all the questions that we had and she always keep a smile on her face. Really good job we are definitely asking for her next time we go.

It's cute but very small... tables are crushed together.. chicken is very boney... I keep spitting little chunks of bones .. kinda heavy food.. very expensive, they charge for everything. Not a fan.. location is nice..rich white people neighborhood.. I don't think I'll come back unfortunately

Delicious!! The gentleman in front helped me pick my lunch and the 1/4 Chicken combo was just what I needed in my rainy life today! I normally hate leftovers and I cannot wait to eat the rest of my yummy lunch tomorrow.

I was driving back in town from an 8 hour trip today. I placed my online order at 1:50 pm. I requested for it to be ready at 4:15 pm. I got to the restaurant around that time and they told my husband it would be just a few more minutes. Twenty minutes later, my order came out. There was no apology for this. I asked the young man if there's anything he could do for the inconvenience, and he offered me a soda. I was very disappointed and frustrated.

They recycle customer leftovers!!! Wondering what happened to the four plantains that were supposed to be wrapped up with the rest of my food?? We’re they put on someone else’s plate??? Ewwww! Maybe the ones I had was also from the previous customer. Bottom line… they only wrap your food. The plantains return to the kitchen. Pretty disgusting!!! 👀

This was so good. I was very surprised! I heard about this place so many times, but never went. The family style chicken dinner is the way to go, so much delicious food and perfect for sharing. Friendly staff, great location, highly recommend.

The place did’t cover my expectations… services and customer services has 6 of 10 I know we are close to 9 pm but the waitress needs to pay more attention to the customers … I was looking for a nice Peruvian restaurant in Charlotte and the reviews talked. But certainly my lomo salteado was not a real lomo plate .. the jalea is far away to the real Jalea too….. this restaurant needs more quality and better flavors training for their employees. Potentially has the instruments but needs still more ..

My husband just had surgery a couple of hours ago. I got dinner that I "thought" I was going to share with him since he can not eat much. But what I received was not enough to feed a 8 year old. I was under impression it came with rice and beans and I chose a side. I got a salad I didn't ask for a a tiny 1/4 of chicken that looked like it was starving. With the sweet plantines. I wish I could share it but not much too share. To be delivered to CMC MAIN. The driver was fast and curtious. I appreciated that.

Waited for more than one hour. Food came before the salad and the starters. Place was full and only two waiters were working and having issues with the system. Ordered a glass of wine, they offer in the menu but the item is not in the system. Waiter offered us desert before the food arrive. We've been here before and it was a good experience, but not too sure of what happened - it was one of the worsts experiences of my life. If I could give negative stars I'll do it....

The service is pretty good, place is clean and neat. But unfortunately The rostisseri chicken, Pollo a la brasa was not Peruvian flavor. The French fries was not real potatoes as Peruvian style. Price is good.

Chicken wasn’t fresh and it was cold. I let the server know and she didn’t offer to get fresh chicken. She said I’m sorry. That’s what she didn’t get tip. I never received oil & vinegar for my salad. It was horrible. If you like old cold food and horrible service go. I will never go there again. I use to eat at the one off Lancaster Hwy a few times a week.

Hate it…. Ordered online, I ordered what I thought was a combo meal. My mistake it didn’t come with the rice and beans. I asked the lady at the desk, no problem how much to add the rice and beans? “It’s very expensive”… she walked away saying she was going to help me.. but didn’t look like it… I left with my chicken and avocado….why would I order this without the rice and beans???? This place has been run down! Stay farrrrr away.
