This is the best takeout place for fresh, good quality food. Best for salads. The restaurant area is just tables and chairs, pizza place style, I wouldn’t recommend it

Meeting with my Greek contractor, James Kifonidis, at Image Kitchen & Bath, on the other side of Hunter Mill Road from SouvlakiBar, I mentioned how disappointed I am with them, describing my one and only visit. He recommended Plaka in Vienna. Following our meeting, I went there for lunch. In contrast, Plaka is five star! Chicago Gyro immediately caught my eye on the menu, so I ordered it along with Humus, Spanakopita, and a Mythos Beer. Growing up in the seventies and having many dining experiences at the truly legendary landmark Greektown restaurant, The Parthenon, on Halstead Street in Chicago, I can verify that Plaka indeed is serving Chicago-style gyro. Chicago-style gyros are characterized by a balance of savory, garlicky, and herby flavors, with a mix of textures from the thinly shaved, crispy outside of the vertically rotisserie-grilled lamb and beef mix, and a tender inside. Creamy tzatziki sauce—a yogurt-based sauce with cucumber, garlic, lemon juice, and dill—adds a cool, tangy, and creamy contrast to the savory, spiced meat. Fresh vegetables like tomatoes and onions, served wrapped in warm pita bread, complete the dish. The two appetizer triangle-shaped spanakopita were flavor-balanced, featuring all fresh ingredients—spinach, the foundation ingredient, and feta—wrapped in thin flaky layers of phyllo brushed with olive oil. The small, unassuming spot, seating only 24 guests, serves high-quality Greek fare made with care and pride, in my opinion and experience. I arrived at 2:30 PM last Thursday, and lucky for me, there was one seat available.

This is the King of all gyros. And it’s consistently good and they’re very generous with their portions.

Been getting take out from here for years. I’ve moved away now but anytime I’m visiting family in the area, we make sure to do a plaka night. Their avgolemono soup is what dreams are made of.

The people and the food are terrific!

Exemplary. Fully staffed with a group of competent, happy individuals. Gyro was flavorful and most importantly, fresh. Chicago-style shaved right off the rotating spit. Shareable size fries with meal. Rare to see Ginger Ale on tap. Lady got the bowl and was delighted. In memory of the Knosos gyro shack and the iconic Amphora institution. The torch of good food with snappy service has landed at Plaka for sure.

I came around 3 or so to pick up some late lunch. This is my go to place when I’m having a long day. Well, I get my food as normal and head home. The food is delicious except for the fries. The fries were cooked before and reheated in hot oil. They are horrible. This is the first time I’ve been here after lunch time. Please have the cooks throw the old fries out and not serve them to customers.

I have liked Plaka in the past, though the prices have gotten very high for what you get. Tonight I ordered a chicken souvlaki bowl and it had three small pieces of chicken in it for $15 and no pita bread included.

Ordered from this location for the first time, the fries were old & unseasoned & the gyros were dry. We tried calling the location, but the woman who answered said she’d tell the chef, said thank you very much, and hung up. Was hoping to enjoy the food, but unfortunately did not.

Stopped by here for a late lunch on a Sunday. The place wasn't crowded at all, good parking out front and back, but in a busy area. The food was pretty good, it wasn't great, but it was decent. We got the Plaka Gyro and Falafel appetizers. Again, nothing to rave about. The people were nice, the place seemed relatively clean. Overall it was fine, prices aren't super high either.

We ordered the Plaka Gyro and the Kids chicken kabob with fries. The Gyro pork meat was really good with the fries (Plaka stlyle) in it. The tzatziki tastes so fresh. The kids chicken was delicious as well. Good seasoning and not overpowering for children. We always enjoy ourselves, like a treat, when we are in the area. The people are fairly nice. Since everything is self serve you don't really have someone asking you if you are good. The place is fairly small for as packed as they get but they seem to make it work. Good job all. Keep it up!

Oh man, great authentic Greek food in Northern Virginia. Great variety of dishes, great customer service and very affordable. Good for the whole family. I strongly suggest. 👍🏻

First time eating inside- but have ordered numerous times throughout DoorDash/UberEats/takeout. Amazing customer service, amazing food, atmosphere! We will be back. Highly recommend this place, it is AS CLOSE as you can get to Greece and the Greek Islands.

This is our Casual “go/to” place for a good, reasonable meal. Have to admit the quality varies from time to time. Our fav meal is pork souvlaki dinner with roasted potatoes and salad. We usually have take out but occasionally will dine in. It’s an order at the counter very casual restaurant

This place is a must try when in Vienna. They’re probably the only place that has an authentic greek style pork gyro which is delicious. This time around I tried the Chicago style which is a traditional lamb/beef gyro. Got it “plaka style” with fries inside, fries looked and tasted hand-cut. Easily the best gyro spot in the area and maybe outside of the area too. Highly recommended.

Probably the best gyro place in the NoVa area. They are extremely generous with their servings. The spicy feta dip is unbelievable. Salads are great too.

I was referred to this place by my Greek Friend. She said this is the most authentic and reasonable priced Greek place in the DMV area. This is a small hole in the wall, but the food blew us away. I don't get impressed easily and I need the food to extra special to give a place a 5-star. Plaka delivered on that front. The food was flavorful and the portions were generous. My friend ordered three appetizers, dolma (stuffed grapes) and a special falafel appetizer dish and all of them were tasty. I ordered the chicken souvlaki with salad and fries, and that too was amazing. The chicken was tender (despite it's all white meat), the salad was fresh, the lemon vinaigrette was amazing and the fries were really good. I was very satisfied with the experience, and I'll definitely come back again and recommend it to others.

What a great place, I honestly cannot praise it enough. It’s our go-to place for a weekly casual dinner. We lived in Greece for quite some time and feel that this is as close as we’ll get to satisfy our cravings for Greek food. My personal favorites are kotopoulaki (chicken tenders in light but crispy batter) and small Peter’s salad (which is actually not that small at all but super delicious!). Add a generous pour of house wine and things are beginning to look up, lol! The place is not big and can get crowded easily (A LOT of takeouts as well) and quite loud but it’s so worth it, in my opinion. We tried just about everything on the menu, and it all tastes good. The staff is nice and the service is very fast. If you become a loyal customer and frequent this restaurant, you’ll accumulate a good bit of points that you can redeem for a desert or take off the total cost, big plus. Great place, highly recommend.

My family loves Plaka, and I've gererally had good experiences here. Plus I enjoy supporting local, small businesses like this one. They have great gyros, some of the best side dishes around (especially their potatoes), and efficient service to top it all off. The only reason I'm giving 4 stars is I once ordered a beef/steak kabob via doordash that tasted very off/stale. I'm not sure if it was old meat or a cooking surface that needed cleaning, but it shouldn't have been served to a customer and wasn't cheap. Aside from that though everything has been great and I enjoy the food here frequently. It's worth trying for yourself.

Small place for eating in. Chicago Gyro season well, tender meat, ingredients fresh and came out hot. A lot of meat. The calamari was also hot but bland but cooked well. Definitely would go back and try a different gyro

The food is good but it seems to have slipped from a few years ago. The portion size seems to be smaller for gyros. Use to be able to see the meat rotating in the back of the store and did not observe it this time.

This is a local favorite nested in a small shopping center off the Chain Bridge. The staff are still very nice and friendly during the busy dinner rush. Good portions of food. Well seasoned and savory.

Every time I go, I get the Chicago-style gyro and enjoy it very much. They have a standard at this restaurant and they maintain it consistently. Both locations in the area seem to be pretty good, but I have noticed that the gyro is sometimes better at this location - maybe because it's the original. Few parking spots but I have not yet failed to find a spot in front of the store, otherwise you can park at the dollar store behind Plaka Grill. Can be quite busy sometimes seating-wise, but I always go for take out.

Food is always good. Solid, never bad. They sometimes get an order wrong or forget something but everything is good so not a big deal. Portions are decent. Prices have gotten a little high for what is basically a take out place. Work on quality control and give me some extra bang for my buck and I'd say 5 stars.

I wasn't impressed, limited seating (customers standing to wait for a free table); mediocre food, terrible wine, and serve yourself at a restaurant price? In Greece we say, "mas piasane gia koirodo" "They are taking us for fools". If you are from Greece, have lived there or spent time there, you will be seriously disappointed.

Best Greek food hands down in the entire dmv. The flavors are just right. Not too much garlic in the tzatziki and the avgolemeno is amazing. The staff are nice. Very clean.

1st time visiting this Vienna location, and I had their Peter Special Salad and a grilled shrimp souvlaki wrap. without hesitation, I can say that was absolutely the very best shrimp souvlaki wrap I have ever tasted. It was incredibly fresh and plentiful with grilled shrimp and all of the Greek fixings in one wrap. My only regret was that I only bought one!! I also want to mention the "way above normal" politeness and courtesy of the young lady that was working the counter taking our order and letting us know what's a specials were. She was incredibly nice and just as pleasant a person as you can ever be lucky enough to meet. My understanding is that there are two locations for Plaka... on in Vienna and one in Falls Church. I live in the Manassas area but will be visiting Plaka again very soon. ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐s on the food and service/ courtesy! The venue is mainly order and take out but there are several tables for seating inside. The price was fair for what I received. The salad that I ordered was also very good, and presented in a very professional appealing manner. great place!!

Plaka Grill has great Gyros and fast service! The fries are nice ad crispy and the meat is very flavorful and tender. Super convenient and it's great for some nice quick Middle Eastern Food. Would come again!

We drove by this place literally for years. Then one day, on a whim (because we couldn't get into our first choice), we stopped in for dinner. OMG. My wife and I visited every week or two for years after that. I've had everything on the menu. Everything. It's all good. Last year, (2022) I was able to travel to Greece, Athens and out in the countryside. The food in restaurants in Athens on many occasions was not as good as Plaka. Certainly none were better. My wife and I moved out of the area this year and we miss Plaka. It's awesome!

It was very good and happy to have visited it on my way to a concert. Other than the fries not being to my liking, the food was outstanding overall.

We got the Chicago style gyro and the plaka style (with French fries inside) and everything was tasty and the meat is crunchy. We also tried falafels and they were great too. 100% recommend.

We ordered online for pickup and tried a variety of items - avgolemono soup, pita, grape leaves, souvlaki chicken, Lima beans in tomato sauce, and baklava. We appreciate the gluten free, dairy free and vegan notations on the menu. Food was ready on time. We enjoyed everything except the pita, it tasted like it was fried in vegetable oil.

Very shocked at the food quality and taste. Arrived early for a music event and was hungry so we went across the street to Plaka Grill. I didn’t expect much as it’s a small hole in the wall in a shopping center. Wow. I was very surprised. The food had so much flavor -every bite was fantastic. Absolutely will visit again

This place has some really good Greek food, always a favorite whenever visiting Virginia. It is so fresh and tasty and very filling for sure. Definitely the gyro is a go to. Fries are always fresh. The service here is a 10/10.

The gyro meat was perfectly seasoned and tender, the rice was flavorful and fluffy, and the fresh salad added a refreshing balance to the dish. We had a gift certificate and it wasn’t an issue to use. cozy ambiance.Plaka Grill is definitely our go-to spot for a delicious and satisfying meal.

The most incredible Greek food you will ever try! Locals are familiar with this restaurant that is known for their high quality and authenticity. Their dips are flavorful and everything we ordered came out perfect. The beef bowl plaka style (fries on top!) is so delicious! If you have the chance to try their chicken soup though, you’re very lucky.

I love this place! Food is exceptional! They got rid of my hummus wrap and the Plaka Salad wrap, but I get either the Falafel wrap or the Shrimp Souvlaki wrap. Both delicious. The falafel is cooked perfectly, not dry or burnt or hard. Their Plaka Salad is delicious too with their lemon vinaigrette.

WOW, I've driven past this place several times and finally decided to stop in.. DELICIOUS. My friend and I were blown away at just how good the chicago platter was. The fries, salad, pita, and gyro are to die for. Super friendly and accommodating staff, we'll be back!

I ordered the Chicago combo which showed it with French fries in it(combo ?) but when it arrived it was a simple gyro sandwich. It was $12 which I taught was expensive. I ordered for delivery and when it arrived it was cold. Otherwise, it was a ok sandwich.

Expensive! ~$11 for the Chicago Gyro seemed steep. Still hungry unfortunately. The pieces of gyro seem to be cut smaller and smaller each time I go.

PLEASE open one of these in Kentlands in Gaithersburg! This place is so good. The shrimp souvlaki with the half rice/half salad bowl is insanely good.

We hadn't tried Plaka in a couple of years, and the food is still good. We got the roasted chicken, lamb kapama, stuffed grape leaves, gigantes and a build-a-bowl, and everything was good. Prices are still fairly reasonable, too. Our DoorDash driver said the restaurant was very busy, so we were glad we got our food delivered.

Food is great, plenty of meat in the souvlaki, nicely salted fries, pita just soft and big enough to stuff in your mouth. There is no wait staff, you just order at the cash register, they bring the meal to you then disappear. The small dining room is cozy but bare bones. I love it..

Although we enjoy this place for take outs, we don't usually dine in house. They're always very busy and the atmosphere when seated is sort of like a buffet cafeteria because there's a constant stream of people getting takeouts. The food is very good and so it's always on our take out list.

3 star because of the fries if the owner is Greek he must change them and also change the oil on the fries because was brown, despite that the pita and tzatziki and gyros pork and souvlaki chicken were very tasty and well cooked and reminds us the pitas of Greece ++ bonus for the Greek beer fix 🇬🇷 Sure we will come back and hope the fries next time will be better
