The food is so delicious, wonderful flavors and textures. I drive from home15 miles each way to go here, it's that good.

Following another reviewers notes we parked in the liquor store parking lot, but there is also roadside parking directly in front of the restaurant that seemed more optimal. The dishes were a bit expensive ($20 for a curry dish that came with rice), but delicious. We also tried the garlic roti, which I'll be going back for! The service was excellent--very friendly, attentive, and I think the owner even came over to ask us how things were. I'll be going back and recommend this restaurant!

One of the best Indian restaurants on the South Shore. Only Tumeric House is in the same category as Punjab Cafe. Food here is always consistently great! Never had a bad meal here. Prices are reasonable and comparable to other high end Indian restaurants. Would recommend the Masala Paneer with Garlic Naan.

Fantastic Indian food and such a nice family that runs this restaurant! I went for the first time a few years back during the pandemic and they were very quick, friendly and efficient with ordering online. The food was delicious and my friend and I loved it so much so that I brought some more friends and family the next time a few years later to try it out. The food was awesome and my friends really loved the food and time we had! Really can’t recommend this place enough! Very fairly priced and good food from nice people! Can’t beat that!

I used to love Punjab Cafe. My boyfriend introduced it to me and it was my first Indian cuisine experience. It blew my mind and ever since then, at least in the New England area, I never had Indian food that was more subtly delicious than Punjab. I was spoiled!! However, this year when the few times I returned, the same dishes we used to get didn’t taste the same as before. They were still good, but it’s as fewer ingredients were used to save budget. Neither my boyfriend nor I said anything, until today, we discovered that we’re feeling the exact same way. How funny, taste buds don’t lie!!! Punjab has been one of the few places we feel so enthusiastic to back to. The food isn’t cheap, but we’re always willing to go enjoy a meal as a treat to ourselves. Please please, I hope it stays as a place that guarantees an experience of content and happiness. There’re too many restaurants out there don’t know what they’re doing! You will still find it a great restaurant. Service is excellent. Im giving 3 stars hoping this review will be seen by the new owner.

Great Indian buffet, even on Sunday for $21/person.

for the first time as this location I ordered chicken curry and butter chicken to go , I must say that the white meat was way over cooked , it tasted like it was heated in the microwave and drown in sauce after wards . for what I paid for , it’s a crime as I love a good indian food. I will not return again.

Food type was limited on the Buffett. Was surprised not to see rice biryani and sambossa .The meat of the goat curry was tough. Desert was tasteless, very disappointing

It was the best in the area. I have tasted couple of dishes form this restaurant and I liked butter chicken tikka the most. There is a room for improvisation but people are kind and attentive.

The service is very casual. They don’t look like they know what they’re doing and the food was rather mediocre. I ordered a biriyani and got something resembling a pulao, a misconception I see way too often.

Had a pretty good lunch at Punjab Cafe. You are allowed to park in the parking lot next door, which is shared with the liquor store. The inside is spacious with lots of tables, but I did takeout. The ordering process was straightforward, and the person working at the front was friendly. The portions for the appetizers were good for the price, but I felt like the main dishes were expensive at ~$20 each. The garlic naan was okay. The naan was a bit tough and could have been more garlic-y. The samosas were okay as well. I liked the sauce that came with them; almost like a sweet BBQ sauce. The chicken in both the murgh makhani (butter) chicken and chicken saag was tender, and the sauces were flavorful but too salty on their own. I also felt like medium was too mild of a spice level, so I wish I went hotter. Overall, it was a solid meal. Just some minor tweaks would have made this a five.

The food and the service is awesome. If you dont have room for dessert, make some. The mango ice cream is absolutely DELICIOUS!! Will definitely be returning for more date nights.

I was in town for a few days for work, and ordered from Punjab Cafe for dinner via Grubhub. On a Friday night, it took only 35 minutes for them to deliver an AMAZING vegan meal that I pretty much devoured. It has been awhile since I'd had Indian food and it did *not* disappoint. Thank you so much! Everything was warm, fresh and suberb.

Ordered via GrubHub. Instead of vegan korma, they sent meat. People with only principles will understand what kind of violation is that. They refunded for the amount of dish, as if all I care about is $20!! And that should be okay for me as restitution. I asked them for an explanation and/or apology letter - didn't receive any.

I always love Punjab Cafe. The foods are always AMAZING. I wish i could remember to take a picture everytime I eat here but my husband and I eat so fast, it always looks like a mess after hahaa. Chai tea is very good (coming from a person who gets chai latte at dunkin or starbucks…). We personally like the chicken chat from the appetizer. All of their masala and curry are good as well. All of the server here are really nice, makes me feel very welcome in the restaurant. The restaurant very modern looking, clean, good music. I believe they have a certain time for buffet. I really hope their business is doing well so they will never have to close this restaurant 🥹

Delicious take out. Every time my husband has a doctor's appointment at Mass Eye and Ear in Quincy we stop off and pick up two curries each - chicken/shrimp vindaloo and chicken/shrimp korma with some peshwari naans. We are never disappointed.

I got the Lamb Masala & Veggie Pakora The flavors were great, but the lamb itself was exceptionally bad, which really ruined the dish. So tough and chewy in the worst way. Very disappointing, especially at this price point. I've tried lamb masala at a few places in the area, and this was easily the worst value, despite the tasty sauce. The pakora was fine, but a poor consolation prize for my disappointing entree.

Okay, so I'm going to answer some questions about this place I had before going here based on reviews. 1. They do dine in and take out. 2. They have bottled beer, wine, spirits and cocktails. 3. The food is really good and has a lot of flavor. One of the best Indian places in boston in my opinion (based on my one experience today - I will be going back) 4. They do a lunch buffet on Saturdays and Sundays. 5. Friendly, quick and attentive service. 6. Clean restaurant, with a cute interior. And one question I had based on my experiences in other Asian/Indian restaurants. 7. They don't make the food less spicy because they assume as a white person you can't handle it. ❤️ Overall 5/5

Update! The owner of the original Punjab Café retired earlier this year (2023) after operating Punjab for 23 years (and being written up as a Hidden Gem & receiving awards as well), but a longtime friend of his purchased the restaurant, has maintained the name and the food is still as delicious and plentiful as ever! They do dine-in as well as takeout and offer a lunch buffet on weekends. Prices are reasonable. It is our go-to place almost every week! Original review: My family has dined here many, many times over the years! Their food is consistently good; the staff warm, welcoming and efficient.

There is a reason why this place is rated the Best Indian Restaurant for N consecutive years. I saw 18. Amazing food. This was a hit with kids, seniors and everyone on the party.

This was my first time eating here and I really enjoyed it! I love Indian food but don’t get to have it often since there aren’t any places in my town, so my family and I chose to try this place and drove a bit, and it was definitely worth it! The atmosphere of Punjab was very calm and clean, and our server was very attentive and asked how spicy we wanted our food to be, which I appreciated since I have a low spice tolerance. We ordered saag paneer and tikka masala with basmati rice and naan bread to share, and everything tasted fantastic! It was a good amount for three people to share- we devoured the bread because it was just that good. One highlight was our server bringing me a salty lassi to try for free, because I’d said I’d been curious to try it but wasn’t sure if I’d like it. That was very sweet of her, and I did end up liking it. Would definitely recommend this place.

I heard so many good things about this place so I had really high expectations. Unfortunately, when I went it didn’t really meet any of my expectations. It was very lacking in flavor and spices. Servers were nice and attentive. Started with the paneer and it was very bland. Would like to try their samosas next time. I really enjoyed their garlic naan. Each curry comes with a HUGEEE portion of rice which is nice. The goat curry was definitely a little dissatisfying. The curry was too sweet and lacked a lot of curry flavor and spice. The goat was nice and juicy. Chicken masala was decent but still lacking in flavor. Chicken was super dry. Maybe go for the dark meat instead of white meat.

I paid $55 for a takeout order of dinner for two. I’ve included a picture of the portion of chicken entree they gave us. It’s an insult. Indian food is meant to be plentiful and enjoyed. It’s not even the size of half of a water bottle. Indian food is cheap to make. Why skimp out and ruin the experience for customers? It’s unbelievable the chicken entree portion that is supposed to be meant for dinner for two.

Always such a pleasure to stop by the Punjab Cafe. It's always our first stop from the airport when we visit Boston. The management has changed but the service is friendly and the food options are still great flavour and tasty. Will keep returning!

Quality is slowly decreasing since new ownership. It would be great if they’d return to labeling the different masalas because it’s a hassle with group orders to figure out which is which. It would also be nice to not include the wrong items in orders. My last 3 orders from here have not been up to their usual standard. Used to love this spot a lot.

This use to be my favorite place but haven’t been in over 5 years, I took my mother for Mother’s Day and it was the worst service ever, not once did anyone even come to the table to ask if we’d like anything to drink. When we first got there we just sat at our table for ten minutes until we decided to go up on our own when there were finally clean plates. We’ll never go back.

One of the worst Indian food in the town. Tried couple of time to give a shot in emergency but both the time had bad experience and the service is awful. It’s not even close to 1% of the authentic Indian food taste. God bless for the people who eat there.

I always get my Indian food from Punjab and gave them my business while they were take out only. Tonight I was very disappointed. They forgot part of our order (mine), the naan was soggy and the lamb in 2 of the dishes was so chewy that we threw the out. I think I will be moving on 😞 Just found out they have new owners. Ordered some takeout. Food was great. The cashier asked if I wanted any extra sauces. A small thing but almost every restaurant seems like they’re charging for any small additional thing it was nice. Definitely would recommend

well this happend about 3years before, we went for dinner and they gave us kulcha from frozen, they heated frozen kulcha, and we really felt bad about it..

This place is the definition of love at first bite. I have been coming to this establishment since the early 2010’s. I went to college and worked in this area - so I was here on average once every week. I briefly moved out of the area, and came back last year. I visited last week for the first time in nearly 10 years… the first bite I had brought me back to my college and working days. Even though the business sold recently, the food has not changed one bit in taste since my weekly visits - the new owners are wonderful folks, I wish them well in their new endeavor, and I will be back more often!!!

This is our go-to place for Indian food and has been for many years, even though it's further from our house than other Indian restaurants. The food is always excellent, and we were happy to see them add a vegan menu some time back as we've been vegan for years now. We order here regularly and never tire of it.

The food here is always delicious. My personal favorites are their biryani and garlic naan but I’ve never had something I didn’t like. They’ve been a quality place for years.

I've lived this place for years now. The food is fantastic, and the proprietor friendly. I strongly recommend their chicken tika masala, my whole office was addicted to that in the before-times.

We had been eating here for years as vegetarians and were elated a few years ago to find they had added a full vegan menu so Punjab Cafe is now once again our go-to Indian restaurant. It’s very much worth the long drive for us — the food is excellent. We like the samosas, aloo palak, chana masala, and aloo mutter. And they have vegan bread options, too, so chapati as well. I’m getting hungry writing this. Since the pandemic we’ve been doing take-out, but we are looking forward to being able to eat at the restaurant again because the staff is so friendly.

We have been going to Punjab Cafe since they opened 20 years ago. The best Indian food that we've had. Our favorites are the onion chutney, paneer masala, goat do piaza, paneer makhani, and of course their garlic nan. Great service too - the owner is often there, always smiling and greeting us. It's a family operation. COVID has been hard on a lot of restaurants, including this one, and I'm glad to see that they're still doing well.

I’ve had the pleasure of taking out and dining in at this restaurant many times. The service is always quick and kind, and, most importantly, the food is always wonderful. One of the better Indian food joints in the south shore (if not greater Boston) area. From experience, I can say that the keema naan, chicken do piaza, and the chicken jalfrezi are all wonderful. Highly recommend.

Take away as place was not offering Dine-in due to COVID-19. Nothing great about food. By the time you reach, home you have to heat it again. Below avg and tasteless.
