I stopped in because the reviews were very good, and for good reason. The owner was incredibly friendly and accommodating. I ordered a gyro, dolma, and a greek salad. The sauces were excellent and hugely complimentary to the food. I will be back. The owner said he was moving soon, just one block up the street. Though I did take it today, next time, I will try and sit in.

The kitchen area has a lot of locusts and mice and there is no care at all, not even ventilation to cool the place. It is the ugliest place I have ever seen in my life.

I've eaten quite a bit of Mediterranean food in my life but this was the freshest, most delicious I've had in Houston by far! Friendly staff that goes above and beyond! The hummus was perfect the pita was fresh baked! Phenomenal highly recommend!

The place is not bad at all but certainly texans do not know how it's supposed to taste. Barely any flavor in the chicken. Beef was seasoned well but overcooked. Server so so attitude. Beef shwarma tasted weird to me.

We were visiting from out of town and looking for a Halal restaurant, on 8-7-2024, so we found this place. We didn’t check the reviews beforehand, but after calling to confirm if they were open and Halal, we decided to go. Upon arrival, we found the restaurant completely empty and in disarray. The owner, was busy with a large order and told us he would take our order shortly. When we indicated that we would go instead, the owner came over and said he would take our order, assuring us that the food would be ready in 20 minutes. However, after waiting for 25 minutes, we decided to leave. During that time, we kept hearing someone coughing in the back, which raised concerns about the safety of the food being prepared by someone who might be sick. Additionally, the owner was sweating and handling boxes and various items, which is not appropriate when dealing with food. This situation was very concerning. After reading some reviews while we waited, we realized the negative feedback was accurate. The women’s restroom was filthy, and we never found the men’s restroom, forcing everyone to use the women’s. The toilet was in poor condition, as if it was never flushed, and there were no paper towels available. We were also informed that the soda machine was broken, a problem that had apparently persisted for months, reading other reviews. Instead, we were offered drinks from a refrigerator, but everything in the fridge were also warm and expired. The baked goods were poorly displayed, with one shelf broken and condensation indicating a malfunctioning refrigerator. The tables were cluttered, and the overall cleanliness was unacceptable. Feeling uncomfortable, we decided to cancel our order. The man at the counter, who was visibly overwhelmed, became rude and started yelling at us, which was completely uncalled for, especially with a child present. His behavior was disrespectful and unprofessional. If someone has a large order and cannot assist customers who come in person, they should communicate that upfront. It’s important to inform customers over the phone to avoid wasting their time while focusing on other orders. As we were leaving, he kept yelling at us, even following us to our car to continue his argument. After the owner left, an employee apologized for his behavior, explaining that is how is always acts, and how he is always treated by the owner who is a bad person. While I sympathize with the staff, the owner’s conduct was unacceptable, if this is how he treats his employees and paying customers. The owner should be reported for their abusive behavior. The owner of this establishment displays arrogance and does not represent the values of all Muslims. His behavior is rude and unprofessional, and he should be ashamed of himself. This place seems to prioritize hookah and parties over serving customers. I strongly advise avoiding this establishment. It needs serious attention from health inspectors, as the conditions were unsanitary and the service was appalling. We eventually found another restaurant that was clean, respectful, and provided excellent service. It’s hard to understand how this place is still in business or how it has high ratings, those that have experience rudeness by the owner, knows the truth. And to those who have had great experience, were lucky. Other reviews, we just don't believe to be authentic or real. UPDATE: This situation only highlights a troubling mix of ignorance and arrogance by the owner. No one was upset, a family simply stopped to eat because it’s what happens when one is hungry, you get food. Our frustration stemmed from the lack of respect we received from the owner and all the issues of this establishment, cluttered, dirty, and nothing was functioning properly. It appears to be run by an incompetent owner who abuses and thinks it's ok. Instead of acknowledging the issues and using this opportunity to improve, the owner chose to attack a family, spread lies, and make unfounded speculations about us. This behavior is shameful and reflects poor business practices.

Wow, surprisingly shocked by the quality considering the high Google reviews. Taste is a 2/10, service is a 1/10, and atmosphere is probably a 5/10. Reminds me of the restaurants I went to when I lived in Saudi Arabia, but low quality.

My wife and I tried this place out on a whim. It was small, but with the most comfortable chairs I have ever sat in for a restaurant. The hummus was top tier, great texture and flavor. The pita were hot and soft. Practically pillowlike. I had the mixed grill, the meat was perfect, and the veggies had just the right char on them. We were the only people in the place for most of our visit, so the service was super attentive. All in all, great experience

Delicious! I drive by this place all the time and finally stopped in because I was craving a gyro. The beef and lamb gyro was one of the best I’ve had, the meat was so perfectly cooked and very tasty. The tzatziki and hot sauce were amazing and taste/look homemade. The owner was very hospitable and friendly, and my husband and I loved the overall cozy vibe of the spot. We will definitely be back!

One guy who worked there was the most rudest person in USA. The food was bad. Instead o f gyro they put hamburgers in a bread. It took so much time to make first of all. Dirtiest place. I think he was a muslim guy and the boss was out of town. So he was extremely bad person. He snatched all my food from the table. Luckily there were 4 more customers at that time they all saw this. If i would be alone in the restaurant what he would done to me. So i have witnesses. Sodas machine was broken out of soda cans. The lady who cooks she doesn't speak proper English and difficult to explain to her. No one has treated me like this. I m a muslim too and was covering my head. So be careful. He is crazy and can attack someone.

Great food and friendly service. My husband had the gyro and I had falafel with hot hummus. Both were really good. The falafel was fried or baked to perfection. They weren’t over-cooked like many I’ve tried. Regarding the atmosphere, it’s a little outdated but who cares! This was our first visit. We’ll definitely be back!

Not only does this restaurant have delicious fresh food but the customer service feels like you’re a part of the family and that you’re over at one of your closest friends houses. They take care of you from the moment you walk in to the moment you leave. It’s rare to find customer service like this anywhere, this place is an absolute gem. My husband and I frequently go here and it never disappoints… It’s absolutely wonderful and one of our favorite restaurants.

We stopped by for a quick bite tonight and as always the food was delicious. We shared the falafel appetizer and asked for the spicy hummus to go with it. It came also with a fresh salad of chopped lettuce, tomatoes and cucumbers. The falafel were cooked perfectly…not too oily, and seasoned just right. They were served hot and paired perfectly with the cool salad and spicy hummus. We also had a steak shawarma and a gyro. The shawarma was seasoned and cooked to be melt in your mouth good. The gyro meat cut a bit thick for my liking, but the flavor and quantity made up for the small inconvenience of cutting it into smaller pieces myself. The amounts of food were such that we ate til our bellies were busting and STILL had leftovers that will make an entire meal for both of us tomorrow! Friendly and personable gentleman was running the whole show on this Saturday night, 2 other tables had patrons, but everyone was taken care of in a timely and pleasant manner. Thank you Raja Mediterranean for another delicious meal…we’ll certainly be back again!

Ordered to pick up. Rap music with vulgar language blaring. Attendant there was not friendly when asked about sauces on the food. Gyro was fine, chicken shwarma was just seasoned chicken thigh, definitely not a true shwarma. Disappointing after all the great reviews.

Wow, what can i say!?? The falafels and the salad and even the rice were perfectly delicious! Special shout out needs to go out just for the salad!!! Plenty of vegan options too, and for the rest of our family, we loved the lamb shank (super fall-off-the-bone-and-into-my-mouth juicy and tender). All the other meats we had (beef and chicken) were delicious too. But perhaps what inspires me most to write this is that our two servers were just so nice and accommodating to our family of 9. Thank u!!! We will come again next time we are in town!!!

I literally can tell that this was the worst Mediterranean food place i went to!!! Dont go because you will be wasting your money.. First of all they made a mistake on my order i asked for fries they gave me rice then i was missing the grilled veggies!!! Coming to the taste.. OMG is this a joke!!!? Shawarma is nothing like shawarma! Literally just pieces of chicken seasoned. The steak is so dry and the spices taste so weird My husband ordered a mixed grill, the meat is so dry and hard to chew and full of fat!!! The hummus is pure tahini… so obviously not going back there i just hope we wont get sick…

Amir, the restaurant owner, was very hospitable. I found the restaurant here on Google Maps and made my way there. Upon arrival he greeted me like I was family, he was patient with me since I was still trying to decide what to get & helped me with any questions in regards to whats in the food with a smile. The food was sooo good!!! They are very generous with their meat on the gyros & its halal. Sat down and talked to the owner until the restaurant closed & to me seemed like a very humble person with years of running a restaurant. Please go here to support & of course enjoy the food. They also have great deals on their menu so definitely check them out.

The best falafel I have ever had in my life. The food is fresh and full of flavor. This is my go-to Greek food restaurant. My husband and son love their gyros. Their tsziki sauce is delicious, and their fresh side and veggie items are outstanding. It's not the fanciest location but the food & hospitality more than makes up for it.

I always search for the close to perfect falafel wrap. This place on Jones Rd in Houston has absolutely delicious falafel wrap. 5 stars! And the owner is extremely friendly.

Disappointing at best. The Google reviews and the pictures lured me into trying something different. Upon entering the location I saw immediately that the buffet was not as pictured, and despite 1 other party in the restaurant, the restaurant was not very clean. Tables had not been bussed on wiped down, nor had the santizer bottles on the tables or menus. I ordered the Shawarma with loose chicken, asked to delete the green peppers. What I recieved was very food, rice and the loose chicken, and raw red onions, with lettuce and tomoto. I left with a strong taste in my mouth of the seasoned chicken and uncomfortable feeling on my tongue and lips. Granted I had not eaten a lot of mediterranean food, so the seasoning may have been unfamiliar to me. But this experience will likely cause me not to venture into this type of food again. I wouldn't choose this restaurant to try mediterranean for the first time. 5/21 @5:03 PM. I'm updating the review to respond to the restaurant response. Sadly it is not fully accurate. I did not have any conversation about researching seasons and spices. Nor was this brought up by the waitor. I eliminated green peppers and tomatoes from my meal. I did not call the restaurant at any time prior or after eating there. I attempted to fix the tip when I hit the wrong button to leave a custom tip instead of the minimum offered at 15%. The server said "don't worry about it" sensing my disasstifaction. Your response is why I would not recommend this restaurant. There is no need to manipulate the situation with false narrative - I am sharing why this was not a good experience for me and to caution others who may be in a simialar situation.

We were the only customers dining in. Two others came in for take out. It took 10-15 minutes for someone to take our drink order and to receive my water and pita bread. Another 5-10 to get our tea. One worker was smoking his Hookah in the dinning area throughout our dinner. Zero follow up after the food came out. No refills. We had to request a carry out box and request our ticket twice. Still no one else in the restaurant. I don’t know how it was rated high. Our experience was terrible and we will not be going back. The food was average. Customer service terrible.

Do NOT sleep on this place. It may be in an older building but the food AND service are top notch. The food is authentic, fresh, and so delicious. The prices are great too! The owner and staff make you feel welcome and they 100% show appreciation for your repeat business. This is me and my family's favorite Mediterranean spot. Everything that we have ordered here, everytime, has been delicious. From the fresh pita bread, hummus, falafel, to the gyros. You have to try it! Do not judge this place by the building. Just know that this is a casual restaurant. The food and service WILL bring you back.

Man what a place with amazing food and great customer service. I was born in middle eat and to find authenticity in food here is close to impossible. My sister told me about the place and it’s like a hole in the wall. I m just amazed that how come I didn’t know about this restaurant before. If you wanna try authentic Arabic food with great hookah, this is the place to be. I do strongly recommend this restaurant, you have to give it a try.

The owner is super nice, we came in half an hour before close. He not only let us stay way past closing time, served us excellent quality food with a great big smile, highly recommended.

My husband and I broke our fast at the Raja buffet yesterday and it was great. The owner is very sweet and so kind. His food was next level amazing! I wish I took a picture of our food but we were super hungry! His Kabse, grape leaves and Bryani were amazing 🤤 I definitely recommend going to his Ramadan buffet it's definitely worth it and very reasonably priced as well!

The best falafel I’ve ever had! They were crunchy outside, soft on the inside, not dry at all. The hummus and baba ganoush was also very good. Great vegetarian option. My brother said the meat was good too. Finished the meal with some yummy walnut baklava. Staff was very nice, restaurant was decorated for Ramadan, very cute.

The woman who is the owerns wife works very hard and sometimes has to run everything alone. She is a strong woman, and her husband, the owner, does what he can to keep the business afloat. He is a people person like many Lebanese people. I'm an athiest, but I hope his prayers are answered. One day I'll invite him to eat goat the mexican way

We drove out to Raja to try some more authentic Mediterranean food. It is not in the best of neighborhoods, nor is it the most beautiful location. It's kind of a hole in the wall. However, the owner is one of the most gracious hosts I've ever met. He was very welcoming and very kind. He had three very new employees the night that we arrived and so things moved a little slower than they probably would have, but the food was delicious. There was plenty of parking in front of the store. When we first arrived, we were the only ones in the restaurant. By the time we left, there were three other tables seated. There was plenty of room for more, as well. The seating is very simple with a mix and match set of tables and chairs and benches. But good enough to sit and eat. The food was definitely more authentic Mediterranean than my kids were used to, but they all ate plenty. The beef shawarma was very gristly. That was probably my biggest complaint. The chicken shawarma seemed to be more popular than the beef. We decided to order just about every appetizer they had, so we had a lot of things to taste. They probably had some of the best falafel we've ever had. It wasn't greasy and gross. The fries were fine, but nothing special. The hummus had a very nutty taste to it. It tasted more of Tajin than it did chickpea, at least to me. I prefer my own homemade hummus a little better, but it was still good. The dolmas were a favorite of my wife. My kids did not like them, though. If I was in the neighborhood, I would probably go back. I would probably not take my kids again, because it just wasn't their cup of tea. I would also probably try something different than the shawarma. I heard him saying that he makes the best shawarma in town, but I liked some but I've had it on Westheimer quite a bit better.

A great local spot for Arabic cuisine. The owner is very hospitable and always takes care of his patrons. The food is cooked very fresh and has great flavor. My wife and I have been three times so far and really enjoy the mixed grill and hummus. I've gotten the lamb shank once which was cooked perfectly. Try the Mediterranean fries, they are garlicky and so good! Nothing on the menu has disappointed so far!

What a nice restaurant, friendly and efficient. I came for lunch and had a lamb and beef gyro with fries and a drink. I specified that I did not want onions on the sandwich, and when it arrived, there were certainly no onions. In addition to catch up for the fries, there was a white garlic sauce that was delicious. I had asked for extra tzatziki, and it was worth it, very flavorful. I would definitely eat here again.

I placed a mobile order for pick-up. When I arrived, I was greeted by a gentleman who welcomed me with a handshake and personally saw to it that my order was correct before handing it to me. The food was great, and the overall experience, though short, was very friendly and welcoming. I'll be coming back for sure.

Went to this place to have lunch, without any plans. However we were not disappointed with the service, restaurant atmosphere and the food. We ordered 1 of each of beef kofta kebab platter, chicken n beef skewar kebab platter, lamb kebab platter, and beef skewar kebab platter. Everyone of the dishes tasted good. However, the most tasty and tender was the kofta. It was so melty n flavorful. The lamb n beef skewar kebabs were a bit tough n was a bit hard to cut n chew, but tasted great nonetheless. The free appetizer of pita bread and oil masala was pretty tasty.

Stopped on the way to IAH and have never received this quality of service. Middle eastern people are generally hospitable but this gentleman went above and beyond. Provided us with refreshments free of charge given our long travel day and made me wish I lived in a community that had this kind of a hospitable business.

This place is a hidden gem in Houston. This is not the closest you will get to a home cooked Arabic meal. THIS IS INFACT AN AUTHENTIC ARABIC HOME COOKED MEAL. I ordered the lamb shank and it was cooked to perfection. I couldn't scrape the meat off the bone because the meat just slowly slides off. It's a work of art. The meat is tender and melts in your mouth. Everything about the meal was perfect. The service is great and the Staff and management take time to regularly check on you. I strongly recommend this place for 2 kinds of people: 1. If you are an Arab looking for a home cooked Arabic meal. 2. If you are a non Arab looking for an authentic Arabic meal. I have only tried the lamb shank/mansaf and from how good it was I will find it difficult to change and try another dish, but I will certainly love and will eventually try everything on their menu.

Went there and had a Gyro and was disappointed. Gave me very little meat and mostly lettuce and veggies. It could have been a veggie wrap instead of a Gyro. No Good!!

We were very disappointed with the shawarma, especially since there was such a high rating. The Mediterranean fries were tasty. My husband and I were both sick to our stomachs that night. I'm not sure if it is correlated. The environment was comfortable and the staff was friendly but I don't think I would go again

This is a great place to go. Returned, and it was like going to a friend's house that can cook. I got the falafel on thin pita, w/fries, and it was excellent. It was very fresh and you can tell it was made with love. I will be returning and would highly recommend it.
