We had a great meal, but we got put into a far away corner next to the bathrooms all alone and never got a chance to be part of the goings on in the front. It was distracting, but we made the best of it. Couldn't order the strudel, because it would have taken 20 minutes longer and we had tickets for a play. Since we were done with dinner, we left. They need to tell customers about the strudel ahead of time, just in case and it would have made them more money. I was disappointed...

We were outside on the pet-friendly deck, but the weather was getting nasty. Too windy to keep the giant, shady umbrellas up. So they invited all 3 of us inside. They were super accommodating and everything was delish. I had the Currywurst, potato salad and a glass of Chardonnay. My hubby had an amazing, giant pretzel and a different wurst. We are so glad we stopped there. I highly recommend this place trying this restaurant.

This place used to be wonderful. It's under new management now, and I don't think we'll be back. The waitress was very nice, and so was the cook who came out and chatted...but the place was full of rowdy, drunk, loud, rude people and the manager or owner or whoever he was seemed to be encouraging it and joining in. The men were using the ladies room, and when I went in the seat was up and the place was messy. The food isn't the quality it used to be either. The pretzel was rubbery, the potato salad was subpar, and the sauerkraut has completely changed and is chock full of pepper. The beer is good but it's hard to mess that up. Cheesecake wasn't great, and the apple strudel was a badly reheated debacle. We will really miss the former owner, she was lovely.

I recently visited Reens' Bratzeit & Biergarten during my trip to the area, and I must say it was an unforgettable experience. From the moment we stepped in, the warm and welcoming atmosphere embraced us. The highlight of my visit was undoubtedly the Jagersnitzel with mushroom gravy. The dish was a true delight, with the flavors blending perfectly. The tender schnitzel accompanied by the rich mushroom gravy left me craving for more. It was a culinary masterpiece. The vinegar-based potato salad served at room temperature was a revelation. It was the best potato salad I've ever had. The tangy and refreshing taste complemented the meal perfectly, making it a standout dish. To satisfy my sweet tooth, I indulged in the German cheesecake, and it was simply heavenly. The creamy texture, coupled with the delightful flavors, made it an absolute treat. I must also commend the dedication of the staff and the owner. The owner himself worked behind the bar and served us a selection of Dunkle and heirewizen beers, which were both delicious and refreshing. The cook, James, added a touch of entertainment to our dining experience with his witty banter and playful exchanges with the owner. It was an enjoyable and fun-filled evening. What struck me the most was the sense of community and camaraderie among the locals. Reens' Bratzeit & Biergarten seems to be a popular spot where everyone knows everyone. As an out-of-towner, I felt welcomed and included in the laughter and jokes shared by the locals. It was a heartwarming experience that made me feel like a part of the community, even if just for a little while. Overall, my visit to Reens' Bratzeit & Biergarten was nothing short of exceptional. The delicious food, friendly staff, and vibrant atmosphere created an experience that will stay with me for a long time. I highly recommend this gem to anyone looking for an authentic German dining experience with a side of warm hospitality.

Not much selection, and way overpriced for sub par schnitzel, sausage. The “ German chocolate cake” was soooo weird. It was not German chocolate cake, and the consistency was like it had gotten wet and dried out again, sort of chalky and not good.

I’m unsure how to characterize this place. It’s tiny. It feels like a diner or fast food restaurant, but it isn’t. We both had schnitzel, which was tasty. Wife had potato pancakes, which were far superior to the spaetzel, which was ok, but not superb. Definitely get the potato pancakes. Other reviews said this, and they are dead on. The beer selection is pretty minimal for a German restaurant, but I knew that going in. The owner or manager came out briefly. Service was a little chaotic and the exchanges between the staff were amusing. They kept giving each other directions loudly and repeatedly. My wife wasn’t that impressed, but I would go back for lunch. It’s not really a dinner kind of place.

I had the Veal Bratwurst with a Pretzel and Spätzle. The Bratwurst was overcooked and dry. The Pretzel was over cooked and over salted. The Spätzle was dry and tasted like it was the kind that you get in a bag at Publix. My brother who had the "CurryWurst" said that it was just a Bratwurst covered in ketchup and sprinkled with curry powder. Plus, we never even got refills on our drinks. It's an awful excuse for "German" food. I'd rather drive to Helen and get some actual German cuisine. That being said, the server was nice enough. When they didn't have a portion of our meal they attempted to make up for it by bringing out extras of everything else on top of giving us our choice of something else. In truth, I can't recommend this place to anyone. Not until something changes with the food. And they add on another server to their payroll.

Did a Google Maps Search for places to eat in Dahlonega, GA for Friday Feb 3, 2023. Many interesting (and expensive) places to choose from. Saw one that caught my eye - a German restaurant called Reens' Bratzeit & Biergarten. I love German food and finding a good one is hard in the US. Were with friends and said lets try it. So we went. If you are not looking - you'll miss it on Memorial Road in a tiny strip center. Nothing fancy either from the outside. Went in and met John - the owner. This guy is a hoot and holds nothing back. My kind of guy and business owner who is willing to chat with customers and backs his food with action - not simple words. We all ordered the schnitzel. I got the plain one as the other is Jager Schnitzel and comes with mushrooms - which the other 3 in our party got. Reen''s has 2 sizes for the schnitzel - one John calls the "lunch" version which is one schnitzel patty. For those whom are hungry - the "dinner" portion is 2 patties (and A LOT). None of us could decide on the potato side - pomme frits (fries), pancakes, or home fries. So, John being John - says - no problem - I'll bring ya all 3 and you try them all. Everything was great. Then it comes dessert time. What they have is not my kind of dessert. The others has settled on the black forest cake. John - the ultimate salesman - told me - try the cheesecake - not the traditional American style - but his is a homemade custard style one. Told me - don't like it - don't pay for it. He brought the desserts out and everyone loved the black forest cake. I tried the cheesecake and it was not bad - just not my thing (I love chocolate). Everyone else tried the cheesecake and loved it to. Reen's is not fancy and is more a local type place - but it has great food and John. They do have several beers and we got the wheat style and it's a lot like a Blue Moon. So, overall I'd give John and Reen's 6-7 stars if I could; but can only give max of 5.

My wife and I are from a small town (much smaller than Dahlonega), and everyone there is very friendly. However, we don't just randomly walk up to strangers and hug their neck. So, we walked in, and my wife said "hey", and I nodded and smiled (obviously this guy didn't see or hear us). We then went to find a seat (which wasn't difficult). Now, I see why there was no wait when we called. The owner/cook began to mouth off to customers and staff about how he can't stand when rude people walk in and won't even speak, especially Georgia native (I had a GA hat on). The "owner" is saying this so loud that I can obviously hear him. First of all, be man enough to confront others individually and speak to them concerning your problems (which there wasn't one on our end). The owner said "I do things a little different here." Well, I'm never rude, but you insulted me and my wife. I do things a little different nowdays, myself, and that's a good thing. Please, no travelers should eat here. This guy could be mental. Who openly insults potential patrons? Again, I see why there was no wait. We will drive to Bodensee in Helen for good food, and friendly people. We've never experienced anything like this in a restaurant setting. Unbelievable. I'm actually embarrassed for this guy, and the restaurant as a whole. Act your age, be professional, and hold your tongue. This was our first meal attempt in Dahlonega, and it reflects negatively on the town as a whole. Dahlonega is just too tourist oriented, and I'll doubt we'll return. So, congratulations, "sir" (used loosely) on a job well done! Let's greet customers with an insult. Actually, you are supposed to greet the customer, not the other way around. The good reviews must be from when the restaurant was owned by someone else.

Truly a gem just outside of downtown Dahlonega. We reserved a birthday fondue for 2. When we arrived we were cheerfully greeted by the owner and staff. They had our table pre-set in an adorable, private nook in the back of the restaurant. This fondue experience was one of the best things I’ve ever had in my life. It's ok if you find yourself in Dahlonega craving German food, but definitely worth driving to Helen for better. Reens' is a tiny hole-in-the-wall restaurant with limited inside seating and even fewer parking spaces. The portions are a bit on the smaller side, but adequate. The taste though is only fair. Probably some of the best German food I’ve had + good German beer (Dunkel is my go to) I would recommend any of the wursts, but I’m particular to curry wurst, which was really good. Their potato cakes are also very tasty. Oh, and don’t forget the apple strudel with ice cream on the side.

The schnitzel , red cabbage and spaetze were very good. The server was fun and quick. We ate outside on the covered porch. A lovely, comfortable evening.

Let me start off by saying restaurant was very clean, service was good, and owner was friendly. On the other hand, food was the least favorite German style I’ve ever had. jagerschnitzel was chewy and gravy was runny with zero flavor. Rotkohl was really twangy. I was surprised at my experience there seeing all the wonderful reviews.

Jaeger schnitzel, sausages, spaetzle, all are excellent. Perfect outdoor seating for October. The baget was just what you would expect from the bakery. Good beer too.

The currywurst and cordon blue schnitzel was awesome. I'll be coming back to try the other wursts and pretzels too!
