I went to Roopa's because I had a craving, and my neighbors recommended it. It didn't disappoint!!! The food was delicious, hot and fast! Our Waiter, Sam, was kind and social with us. I would totally recommend this place and will be back for sure!

I ordered curry and chicken lollipops which I ordered on my lunch break. The lollipops were mostly fat and batter. They were salty but not seasoned. The curry was spicy and gritty. The naan was salty and borderline undercooked. The sauce was oily and tasted like toothpaste. The plastic container with cucumbers and onion looked seasoned it tasted like nothing. Also the portions are small and overpriced. I got 4 small wings for almost 17$. I would not recommend this place unless you like expensive food with disappointing mediocre flavor. Go somewhere else skip this place.

I highly recommend this place! Very good service, nice calm atmosphere. Didn't have to wait very long for the food. The food was AMAZING everything had a nice spice and the chicken rice I order (I got it spicy) it was very spicy! Loved IIIIITTTT! 10 stars form me!

I only ordered from here because Taz is still closed after that tornado that hit Temple. But I will never order from here again. The food is terrible quality. As an Indian, I have never had indigestion after eating Indian food but this place definitely made me feel horrible after eating their food, even in small portions. I ordered a garlic naan and it was clearly just reheated stale naan, not fresh. The food is filled with so much oil, I had to remove spoonfuls of oil before I could eat my food. I pray to God Taz reopens so I can at least have a good Indian food option while I am staying here in Temple. I regret spending $40 on dinner here. Never again.

I was trying Indian food before my upcoming trip to India. I explained that to my server and he recommended several dishes. The sevice and food were great. We will be back.

Our meal was scrumptious. We enjoyed all the wonderful flavors of our dinner. The pastacio cardamom cheese cake was rich & delish & pretty enough to be served at any celebration!

Delicious food and tasty desserts and drinks—the rice pudding was very tasty. The mild chicken tikki masala was still a bit too spicy for my, but that’s because I’m just a massive spice wimp.

Best Indian food restaurant in Texas

They were out of several dishes. The chicken korma was OK. However, the fish special was awful. The fish was WAY overcooked and WAY oversalted. The veggie biryani was inedible; it had obviously been cooking ALL DAY LONG and the textures were not OK. No words, just it was bad. We brought the issue to their attention, and they provided a coupon for our next visit. Will not go back ever. Hope it was just a bad day, but yikes that was a complete waste of money (did I mention it was $50 for two people)?

Any time we pass temple, we always stop at this place. Food is freahs and great quality . Must try their pistachio cheese cake, fish pakora

Our waitress was a little too soft spoken in the beginning. After we informed her about it it was better. The food was very flavorful. I would have preferred more options.

We've eaten here for several years. The food is consistently delicious. This visit we enjoyed an onion pakora appetizer and chicken curry entree with Indian spice tea. Everything was well balanced, great spice, piping hot, perfectly prepared and served.

Simple, clean, friendly environment. This was my first time there and I will definitely be returning. Staff was attentive without being annoying, food was fresh well made, professionally plated and tasted amazing.

Ordered the lemon rice and Chicken Tikka Masala. Looks or taste nothing like any of the other Indian restaurants I've eaten at all over the country. Wasn't in a creamy tomatoe based sauce. Was more like floating in grease curry. The naan was more like a pancake texture. Not that great. Of course this is only my opinion.

I was talked up about this place, but was disappointed overall..the chicken in the dishes was plentiful but the sauces were thin and lacking In overall flavor. I got the palest butter chicken sauce I've ever seen. I ordered mild since I was unfamiliar with this restaurant but I've never had a yellow sauce butter chicken.

Had the ginger chicken medium spice heat. Was amazing jasmine rice on point. Limeade drink was refreshing , the chicken Marsala on point. Perfect heat. The deserts are great. Very clean quiet location for date night. It was good I forgot to take pics.

My family went there for our first time today to celebrate our mom's 84th birthday. I knew she would be willing to try something new, but wasn't too sure about my dad. He absolutely loved it and ate every bite. We all ordered something different and everything was delicious! All 5 of us were 100% satisfied. I have been wanting to go because of the reviews. Do not recommend going. Worst chicken lollipop ever, service was poor. We also ordered the cardamom cheesecake, it was so hard that had to apply full force to cut through it! If you still find yourself in the restaurant, chicken tikka masala is within tolerance.

Good gluten free vegan options. Unfortunately they cannot dial down the spice whatsoever. I have asked for mild, extra mild, no spice, and it always comes out 3/5 spice level- unenjoyable.

A fantastic authentic meal! Please be patient with service as they are currently understaffed but the food is well worth the small wait.

My mom's 50th birthday was exceptional due to Roopa's Kitchen service, quality food, and ambiance! This was my first time at Roopas, and they did not disappoint. It was great to host this event, as Mr. Sam (one of the owners), allowed one of my guests to decorate the table and design it with the utmost beauty. There were about 12-14 people in attendance and Roopa's brought out fresh, delicious, quality food. You can also choose to modify your spice level, so for those who are sensitive to spice, one can get mild-or if you are in the mood for a challenge get the most spicy option! Very respectful of dietary restrictions as well- there are a lot of vegetarian options. So glad this is an option, as there aren't many cultural food options in the Temple-Belton area. I a a huge advocate for Indian food. If you are just starting out, I suggest the chicken biryani / butter chicken, and getting either a samosa/ garlic naan! -Thanks Roopa's!

Honestly, not that good for its price of 17.99 per curry. I ordered Butter Chicken - medium spicy, and it tasted very watered down and bland. The butter naan was undercooked. This place is definitely lucky that there's no competition in the area. I've heard many of the Indian residents in Temple/Belton go all the way to Austin to eat Indian food and now I understand why. If you want quick Indian food and you don't know what it's actually supposed to taste like, I guess this is the restaurant for you.

This restaurant doesn't make authentic Indian food at all. Chicken kebab was fried chicken with too much oil. Chicken tikka was made like chicken curry. Every food we ordered tasted bad and ruined my appetite. Will never be back and wont suggest anyone to go. Save your time and money!!

I had dinner here with several of my friends at celebration after an exam. The food here was great, and it did taste authentic. I ordered the chicken biryani with medium level spice. The rice tasted slightly fried and seasoned well. It was salty, and it was not overly spicy. I feel that getting the maximum level spiciness would be excessive so air on the side of caution. The garlic naan is a bit thicker than typical naan. It is also not greasy like other naans that I’ve had. Portion sizes in general are fair for the price. I would recommend getting the entrées and try to go into the restaurant during lunchtime so that you can get a lunch special. The food here can also be made Halal if you request it. Several of my friends would benefit from meeting here as they follow Halal guidelines. if you have allergies, the menu, bolds and capitalizes, cashews or nuts, if they are present as one of the ingredients. The restaurant also marks which dishes are vegan or gluten-free if you follow those guidelines as well. Overall, I will recommend this restaurant if Indian cuisine comes up, or if something needs to be celebrated .

I ordered the Chicken 65 which came with nothing else. Not even the naan bread. So I ordered lemon rice(which was good) ; I was disappointed with the naan— it actually was burnt on one side and tasted like pancake— it was not naan. I lived in New Jersey which has a high population of Indian cuisine. So I know naan! I also expected lunch specials and complimentary Naan. So in this aspect I was disappointed. A bit pricey, too

The food is awesome very intriguing flavors i 100% recommend to give it a go if you’re thinking about trying it! I love how the spice levels actually represent how spicy it is, if you like spicy food but not use to it go for mild in spice level. I dislike how a lot of restaurants say something is spicy when its barely mild! Give it a try i know you will love it!

Roopas kitchen is a wonderful experience. With lively staff and wonderful dishes. It's a perfect place to take a date or if you're trying new things!

I don't know how this place isn't packed every time I go. The food is exceptionally fresh, very authentic, and delicious. This is the only place to get quality Indian food in a 50 mile radius. (Yes, I know about the Chef Boyardi place on West Adams, that doesn't count) It's also one of the few quiet date night destinations and one of the few Vegan options in town.

They are amazing. Like yokels we (by we I mean me not my wife) ordered food too spicy. I'm half Indian and in front of my wife I forgot to check my ego at the door after having eaten bland food for years. Roops hooked us with raita for the meal to help cool it down, then some to some to go at my request which I then promptly forgot to pack up and left. they caught me in the parking lot just as we were about to leave to give it to me. I wish wish I lived closer bc I'd eat here so much more often. They are awesome. Excellent service. Excellent food. Excellent prices. The Indian tea was legit. The Indian lemonade was legit. Just eat here if you were thinking about it.

Not many indian restaurants to choose from in Temple but this place is good. A bit pricey but just about every place is pricey now. Definitely recommend.

I love coming to Roopas, it was suggested to us by our neighbor when we first moved here. My husband and I used to make it a weekly thing but with our schedules it’s a bit hard to find a moment to go out and eat now. The parking lot is a bit small, they share it with adjoining businesses. They usually get busy around 5:30pm just as an FYI so if you want to sit in and eat at the restaurant go a little before or a little after that 5-6 dinner rush. I usually get the Chana Masala and I really like it. It has a robust flavor compared to the chicken dishes. My husband will bounce between butter chicken or chicken vindaloo. He usually gets his spicy or sometimes requests extra spicy. We also order garlic naan and apps will range from chicken lollipops to any of the various vegetable pakoras. I will say I’ve never had a problem with staff or my food while eating over here for over 2 years consistently. If you don’t have a spice palate the flavors can be really strong to you. Sometimes people will find mild too “spicy” when it basically tastes like a coconut sauce (to me). If it is too spicy tell them because they’ll bring out a cream to even out the intensity of your meal for you. I really enjoy this restaurant. I visit Roopas more consistently than any other restaurant within the Temple/Belton area. The staff is always really nice when we come in to eat and they always remember us and will chat for a bit. We don’t have a lot of various options in Temple other than various fast food restaurants, Mexican restaurants, and other eateries in downtown Temple. If you are up for it, consider giving Roopas a chance!!

I've traveled to many different places internationally and to different states. Roopa's Kitchen was one of the best Indian Cuisine restaurants I have ever had. The staff was friendly and the atmosphere was wonderful. It is worth the visit.

Very friendly staff, very good food, but pricey. One plate and drink will cost you around $25-$30.00. I only eat here once every couple months. Would definitely eat more of the cost was lower.

Atmosphere is nothing spectacular but the food and service are good. Lots to choose from and gluten free and vegan options for those interested in such things.

Hands down the best Indian food around. The highlight for my husband is the lamb on the weekends, falls off the bone tender. And the cauliflower appetizer, so packed with flavor!

I highly reccomend this place. I love supporting local businesses and by far the best Indian restuarant I have been to in Central TX. I hope they are in business for a very long time. I had the paneer pea masala with green beans and it was very flavorful, tasty, neat, and bold tasting. I will return and bring my mom.

Our 1st time trying this place! We were not disappointed. Service was great. Staff was friendly. Everything was very clean which is huge. We ordered vegetarian dishes and samosas. The only reason I gave 4 is because I thought for the price the portions could be a bit more plentiful. But it tasted great. Our naan bread was a little burnt on bottom, but it still had a good taste. We will be back again

This place is phenomenal. The lemon rice cannot be beat, and whatever is in their lemonade does something to my soul. I wish I had the recipes for both. The chicken masala is the best and the spice levels actually make a difference. The chicken has always been cooked perfectly and has never been chewy or weird. Samoas are really good as well. We used to live 10 min from here, and now we are an hour or more out, but literally drive from Austin to temple just to eat here. We’ve done take out or done in and quality on both has been the same either way. The portions are pretty big and I always have leftovers.

Always my go to Indian food after my VA appointments

We had our child with us, and weren’t sure what to order for her. She drank an Indian Lemonade, and let me have a sip or two. It was refreshing and delicious! I ordered the Paneer Korma with white Basmati rice and garlic Naan. My husband and child shared a similar korma dish, but instead of ordering “mild,” he ordered “medium,” and that was a mistake. It was too spicy for her. One important fact to know is that we went on a Sunday, and no plates with either goat or lamb were available. They are available Friday and Saturday only. Overall, our lunch was good, especially the lemon rice my husband ordered. The appetizers were delicious, too—samosas. Keep in mind that on Sunday they have limited hours— 11:00 to 2:30. Reasonable prices and polite service. Would return again on a Friday or Saturday.

My 1st experience with Indian food. I am sorry I waited this long to try. I had the Butter Chicken. It had the perfect spice. The flavor was off the charts. I can't wait to go back

Every thing in here is amazing. The food over exceeded my expectations. And oh my the Curry is mouth watering and spicy but in the best way possible. It's so good and spicy that u can't get enough of. Super delicious and the people are super nice. I love it here and I'll definitely be here every Friday.

We visited this restaurant last Sat for the first time, driving from Crawford TX to Temple. The food was OK but the service could be better. We dined on the premises but also ordered take out. When we got home we discovered that they were stingy on the portion of Sambar they gave us, half container. That was a disappointment. We will go to Roopa's again, it is the only Indian restaurant in Temple and we are happy they operate or we will have to drive to Austin for Indian food. July 22, 2023 Since my last review the prices have risen a lot, sometimes 40%. I can understand that we are living in the post Covid world and food prices have gone up all over. Generally, the quality is still pretty good; but we were disappointed with the sambar that was absent of vegetables, it was plain gravy only. If you ask for extra sambar, they charge $3.00 for this gravy. Service has improved a lot.

To expensive I never will go again to order to take out curry chicken lamb Curry fish and nam bread $78:15 each portion 4oz of rice and 8 oz lamb chicken.i should check out the order before I return to Killeen it's ok I will never visit the place every time after the VA appointment my wife and stopped there for lunch but I never supports the Ropas
