Stopped here for lunch on the way home from a camping trip. Food was excellent! And the views and atmosphere were wonderful too. We were delighted by the bruschetta appetizer on house baked sourdough. My partner enjoyed the Pinot noir and a burger. I loved the tri tip mushroom tartine and a tasty slice of pie. Plenty of options to suit any diet including salads and fish. We will definitely be visiting again on our next trip through the area.

Went on the recommendation of a friend. We sat outside and had a wonderful view of the snow capped mountains. We did a wine tasting then had a wonderful bruschetta with a variety of flavors that were out of this world. I had the sirloin burger that was delicious (I couldn't believe that they served it with a side of ketchup) there was no need for ketchup on such a work of art. The chocolate cake was to die for. I would recommend this as a must go to spot for food, drinks and overall great experience.

We had a lovely wine tasting followed by an excellent dinner on the patio with an incredible view. Very attentive and friendly staff, and the meal was absolutely top shelf...delicious and beautifully/artistically presented. Thank you!

Definitely the highlight of spending a weekend in Paonia. My wife has Celiac disease and their GF carrot cake was hands down the best I have ever tried even versus regular/gluten kinds I have tried.

We weren't sure what to expect and wow were we glad we stopped in! The Daisy's red blend was sumptuous and the food was delicious! I had the pork belly sandwich and it was a level above! The owner, manager, and waitperson were all wonderful.

Love Root and Vine--they are the epitome of local, seasonable food, prepared so that you can taste the freshness and flavor. Favorites: The roast chicken, the buffalo sliders, the spring roll, shishito peppers, tri-tip steak on foccacia (gluten free for me). A wide variety of wine and some local cider, served by knowledgeable, friendly people. Can't say enough good things about Root and Vine!

I wanted to love this place. The staff are wonderful and the atmosphere is gorgeous. The food and wine, however, are just bad. The "spring roll" is a so-so, undressed salad served in four tiny piles for $15. The bison sliders are charred, unseasoned hockey pucks. The wine pours are very generous but we left more than half of our flight on the table thanks to some really overwhelming olive, green pepper, and camphor flavors in most of the offerings. If you're ordering food, get the chicken - that one dish was perfectly cooked and seasoned, and the five of us picked it clean.

Lovely spot with a killer view, great wine, lots of seating and the best berry turnovers I’ve had! Lovely curated atmosphere and thoughtful service. Would love to see a changing table in the bathroom and more vegetarian options on the entree menu but this spot is a gem. Don’t miss it.

This place is an overpriced tourist trap with mediocre food and terrible service. I left a $10 tip at the register before our food was served and I have been irritated about it ever since. This place is constantly changing their menu, decreasing the quantity of food you get, and raising their prices. I won't eat here again and would advise the same.

A wonderful place for coffee and pastries, a hearty breakfast, brunch or a wine lunch with friends! The restaurant and its gracious patio overlook the grapevines of its winery, the town of Paonia and of course, the gorgeous mountains that overlook the North Fork Valley. Love this place! UPDATE: Root and Vine's hours have shifted to accommodate evening diners. They're no longer serving breakfast, but their new afternoon/evening menu is delicious, and their patio is a perfect happy hour spot!

This was always my go to place to get a great meal, especially breakfast. I went today after many months of being away. Unfortunately, they completely changed their menu. It would be great to serve the small plates to accompany wine tastings, but I won't be going back to eat there any time soon. I had a radish spring roll for about $12, it was meh, small, and basically, flavorless. Of course, their pies and coffee are still great. But, the new Root and Vine is a definite "NO" for me for a meal. Too bad, because it was OUTSTANDING before this change. Please change back to real food again.

Very odd experience. The woman who took my order was very kind. It was just starting to get a little busy when I arrived. Another staff member was quite bothered by anyone's request for anything. They seemed unprepared/ overwhelmed and perhaps are short staffed but please dont treat folks who ask for condiments like they are high maintainance and then never bring them on purpose ( saw her disdain for the guy who asked for ketchup before her utter annoyance at my hot sauce ask) The place has the most amazing outdoor seating and views. Absolutely noone was out there when I set all my stuff on my table ( order number and holder, drinks, coffeecake, silverware).Despite a vast area of tables and chairs being open people sat at the table sharing an umbrella with me two inches away and then even in the empty seat at my table because I was a solo diner. Even after I said I was sitting there twice. Literally thirty other chairs and tables wide open. Very uncomfortable solo brunch!!

Root and Vine was a tasty lunch and wine spot. We had the croissant BLT, greek plate, and charcuterie - all were tasty. $5 for 4 wine samplings, fantastic price and we made it in time for $7 glass happy hour. Nice view outside to sit and enjoy your glass of wine. We were told they will recork your wine if you buy a bottle and don't finish it as well, would recommend this spot!

Lovely wines (we purchased 2 bottles). Tasting is reasonably priced and you pick the 4 you want to try from a list. We stayed for lunch and had a bruschetta board and burrata. Delicious. Disappointed that unlike 2 of the other area wineries, you don't get to keep your tasting glass, especially after dropping over $100. Seems like they'd want the free marketing, the glass lasts longer than the wine you drink.

Best breakfast burrito ever! The service and the food was wonderful. I was lunching with two people that have gluten issues. The staff was quite accommodating, making a number of suggestions. No attitude, just helpful. Thank you for that.

We stopped in for a wine tasting and the wine flight was delicious and reasonably priced! We ordered food which was very good but we waited for a good 2 hours. I think they were understaffed. We enjoyed the patio and the fact that it is dog friendly. Will go back but hope they hire more staff for the kitchen.

Sometimes, things just fall into place. Our visit to Root and Vine Market was one of those things. We were traveling from Aspen to Telluride and decided on a whim to stop in to taste some Colorado wine and have lunch. We really enjoyed ourselves. The wine was really nice and the lunch was great. Highly recommend!

Breakfast burrito was made with care. You can tell this place is about quality above all else. Half butrito was more than enough, the full burrito must be a marvel. Only gripe was the wait, granted it was on a monday morning, in a small town, during corona, and they were busy, so very understandable but it was almost a half hour wait for my burrito. I assume on mondays maybe theres one cook idk. I recommend this place, fun menu, want to come back to try the mediterranean plate and some wine
