This is an Afghan flavor restaurant and the chicken biryani and Kabuli pulao rice was right on point and delicious. The Naan was not as soft as other kabob restaurants but not bad I just prefer a softer tougher texture. The butter chicken was nothing to write home about. The chicken flavor was ok but the meat quality was definitely lacking it tasted more like canned chicken. A solid middle eastern restaurant that is worth a stop in.

Food was great and well cooked. Staff is really nice and friendly. Overall great experience.

I’m Pakistani my self have not had better lambs chops and butter chicken in my life. My wife loved the butter chicken even though she hardly eats Indian food! The lamb chops were crispy and fresh. The naaan we’re fluffy and tasty

Delicious food. The Chaat appetizer is great. Everything we've had there (at least a dozen visits) is delicious and with generous portions. This is really a jewel. You're eating in an open table area inside a gas station, but that doesn't matter if you're looking for great tasting Indian food at a good price. There's a reason this is a popular truck stop / parking / eating place for Asian truck drivers. The senior cook is a pleasant older man who clearly cares about the food and his customers. Please go often - this is a place we want to keep open for many years to come!!!

Food was average to say the least, service was strictly ok. The lady messed up my money charged me 2.5 for a can soda. Luckily I got my receipt usually dont and saw the overcharge. The cook after I ate was putting his fingers in his nose sitting on the table next to me, so hopefully he washes hand before making the Naan.

Used to like this place. A person I hadn't seen before rang me up. Not sure why she had an attitude when I asked for the salmon cooked a little extra. Told me dismissively that they couldn't do it (even though I had ordered it that way at least a dozen times before). Waited over 30 min for my food in an empty place (only one order after mine that they left with) & they hadn't started it. Got my money back though they weren't happy to refund it. Took another person to find my receipt from where it was stashed. All my reviews except for Smokey Bones & BJ's (both service related) have been positive until today. Sad that staff would go out of their way to lose a customer.

I wanted to show my support for Royal Kabab. High quality food at an unassuming location. I had the curry goat, the Biryani, the Nan, mango lassi, everything’s tasted great and the portions you get are unmatched. 5 stars

Royal Kabab is in a bp gas station, co-located with a Subway restaurant franchise. But, don't let that turn you away. The food was delicious -and isn't that the important part? Everyone was very friendly and helpful as I made my order. I knew what I wanted but did not see it at first on the menus above the counter. I asked and was told “no problem” I ordered Chicken Biryani and it was delicious and filling and authentic to my taste. The rice was married perfect to the spice and the chicken was excellent quality. Not one piece of “dark meat mystery” chicken, or anything other than delicious. I asked for a good amount of spice and it was perfect. The rest of this place is a bp gas station. So they have that going forward them, which is nice… Thank you for my lunch.

Their Mughlai food preparations are delicious and they give big servings for an economical price. I have tried both non-veg and veg dishes. All were tasty and not spicy at all.

My go to place for authentic Indian food. I have found most of the restaurant places to be bland. I first ordered through DoorDash and had the Chicken Tikka Masala and Naan. Incredibly good and spiced balanced. Due to the cost of DoorDash and a constant craving I went to purchase in person and was surprised by the location. Don’t let it fool you. The food is delicious. The young man who waited on me was efficient and respectful. When I praised the food the cook came out to offer thanks and a free rice pudding. The samosa chat was also excellent. My only complaint is the small portions of meat and need to order a side of naan which does not come with most dishes but can't say enough about the spice balance and flavor.

Royal Kabab Indian restaurant exceeded my expectations, despite its unassuming location within a gas station. I indulged in their Chicken Vindaloo and tandoori wings, both of which left me thoroughly impressed. The Chicken Vindaloo was impeccably seasoned, boasting a delightful spicy punch balanced with tender, succulent chicken. Accompanied by fragrant basmati rice and a crisp salad, each bite was a symphony of flavors. The naan, a perfect accompaniment, served as a delectable vessel for savoring every last bit of the rich chicken sauce. Royal Kabab has undoubtedly earned a spot as my go-to Indian takeout destination.

I would like to give feedback like no star but royal kabob Gambrills food fresh no stomach heart, I did try to lot of other like Indian restaurants I finally decided to buy food from there , today I call the restaurant, look like new people was female she cut off my phone 3 times also she was very rude, I spent almost like every week almost 3 times each times comes $90 comes my bill , before other male rahul and other 2 people are very good , I don’t no why she is like rude my other friends also told me about one time make separate make my food she said do your self and push the food front of my friend, I have to find other place thinking about new good restaurants like royal kabob if she is there I won’t give no more order ,

I ordered large tray of Biryani, medium tray of fish Pakora, and small tray of chana (Chick Peas). The food is authentic and freshly made for my order. Small restaurant, but delicious food. For catering service, this place is a great option if you like authentic Pakistani/Indian food.

Will definitely not recommend this place anymore. We ordered karahi and in turn they handed over few pieces of chicken with some gravy.

Lamb gyro on naan was tons of lettuce and cucumber with one thin slice of flavorless lamb - That’s all. It was a real let down.

Although I’ve only ordered via delivery, the food is good. However, after informing them that my Lamb Vindaloo dish contained chunks of potato (which was not reflected on the menu), they did not seem to care. Instead, the manager chose to recount how many pieces of potato he placed in my food, instead of addressing the fact that the menu doesn’t include potatoes in the list of ingredients, and the fact that I had more potato chunks than lamb chunks. After expressing my displeasure with my meal, there were no apologies, no refund, no discount…NOTHING. I’m disappointed with how they handled this matter, as I was looking forward to remaining a regular customer.

This was by far the worst Indian I’ve ever had. The curry was thin and watery. I wouldn’t be surprised it if came from a can. The chicken was rubbery and tasted like it was microwaved. The nann was fine but that was about it.

I've ordered from this place twice. I use Door Dash so I can't speak to the atmosphere. However, the two meals I've gotten so far were amazing. I have gotten a lamb wrap, and a kabob with, lamb, chicken, and salmon. Both meals were excellent, lots of food for the price. I will put a spice warning. Their dishes have some heat.

Went here with relatively low expectations considering all circumstances of location. I didn’t expect A masterpiece however.. the service that I received from Everyone in the building was a 10/10.. and the dinner from the kabob restaurant was delicious. I picked up 2 Royal Kabob combos for my coworker and I, we both loved it. The rice pudding was also amazing I am looking forward to coming back, honestly. Glad to have found this little spot

i order butter chicken at indian restaurants because its not a spicy dish. the butter chicken i received was absolutely inedible. i can't do spicy foods and this was *bad*. not sure what they gave me, if it was actually butter chicken. i've never experienced that before with butter chicken. the portions are pretty small too for the price. i expected way more rice. the garlic naan was huge but not the most flavorful. not somewhere i'd order from again.

I typically do not like to complain. I ordered the eggplant in tomato sauce and received something totally different. There was no phone call to.see if I wanted to replace it. When I called I was told.that they no longer serve it that way. Well as a business owner I like to be made aware of changes. And I never want anything extra or for my inconvenience. I just want what I paid for,or the option to choose something else I would like and not what I am told I will eat. What if I had allergies? I will think 4 times before ordering again. It would be 1 thing if it only happened 1 or twice, but this is not acceptable. We spent $94.00. Do better

Portions are tiny for very high price, there was maybe a 1/2 cup of rice and a handful of paneer cubes in a full order. Food is bland and mediocre at best. Very disappointing. Would not recommend.

I love Indian food, and I'm always looking for a good place that can be a hidden gem, but this place is not one. I was only looking for good food since it had nice reviews. I felt the quantity was little, the meat was not tender, the rice was cold, and it seems it has been cooked for a while. It's not a place I would recommend.

Best Biryani in Maryland, I've lived in MD for 15 years and tried all the indo/paki restaurants and this place has the best biryani of them all. All their food is good and worth trying as well. Update: 4 years later: I moved back to MD after 4 years, and obviously I went back to my favorite biryani place but sadly the food has changed in taste and quality. The portions have decreased while the price has increased. I got goat and chicken biryani and there was barely any meat in the food. I hope the owner takes notice and puts quality over quantity.

Two stars. I have been coming to this place for a long time. The food used to be amazing and plentiful. Now, not only has the price increased a lot, but the quality has declined massively. I hope the owners realize before this place turns into another mediocre food place and shuts down because the old people stopped coming.

It wasn't a pleasant experience when I called because the person was rushing me by saying that hurry up we are busy and I wanted to ask if they have naan or roti. But after 20 mins when I went to pick up the food, the restaurant was empty. The food was okay but the person who helped me was very nice. Overall, it was a good experience

Favorite place!! We keep going back, super easy to pick it up, and the food is so delicious. We alwsays get a couple of different dishes, korma, tikka... cant go wrong! Everything is the best but our dishes yesterday had literally 3 bite-sized pieces of chicken each in a lot if sauce, had to eat the rice with the sauce after eating the bit lf chicken

These people always make mistakes. Always missing items. People who works at royal kabob are slow and irresponsible. If you place an order through online platform, Uber or Grub-hub or DoorDash, they always make mistakes and make the driver wait long time. They don’t start preparing food till delivery drivers gets there. They don’t even know if they have an order for pick up till drivers tell them that they have pick up. They check their tablets after delivery driver asks them for pick up. That’s so bad. Food here is good but people work here is just bad

Ordered tonight. Meat is little to none, this place gave me 4-5 pieces of meat for $16. It was EXTREMELY salty. To the point where I took a few bites then had to throw it away. I got the lamb korma and it seemed like they cooked it with store bought salted cashews in a can and just dumped it into the sauce. (Which could be why it was so salty) Super disappointed. And if the restaurant responds yes, I am sure I have the correct place.

Delivery took an hour and 45 minutes when it was only supposed to take 45 minutes. I called the restaurant and they said they were busy, the food was ready but the driver had left. That wasn’t true. I checked with the driver and he said he was still waiting for my order. Will never order again from there as they didn’t make it right, just made excuses.

Lamb vindaloo had ok flavor and a lot of heat. Garlic shrimp looked flavorful but was surprisingly bland. The portion of rice you get with your order is weirdly small. Naan was more fluffy and less chewy but that could be blamed on steaming during delivery. Chana Masala was pretty boring.

Excellent flavored flavored food. Vindaloo is super spicy and good. Portions are generous for the price. Naan bread is huge and delicious. Service from the guys there is friendly and outgoing. This is my Indian food go to.

By far the some of the best Indian food I have ever had! The chicken tikka masala had just the right spice and some great flavor! The chicken vindaloo was also spiced just right! Not only was the food amazing but the service was great! I would highly recommend!!

HIDDEN GEM! Don't let the fact that this restaurant operates out of a gas station throw you off! This is by far my favorite Indian restaurant in the gambrills/crofton/bowie area. (Yes, better than Namaste!) My favorite dishes are Chicken Tikka Masala, Samosas, Butter Chicken and Wings. We probably get takeout every other week and it never fails! Always consistent and huge portions.

The all time WORST food establishment I've ever been at.. The guy behind counter acted like he was on a menstrual cycle .. terrible attitude. He told me the food came with a salad and Naan bread , but when he brought the food it had neither. I ordered the lamb dish , but it didn't have any lamb.. only rice. The prices are higher than advertised. It shows lack of professionalism. I typically dont ask for my money back. But i couldnt bring myself to pay for it... i had to get a refund. total waste of time . Please AVOID this establishment..

Food was perfect, order was perfect and I had a very large order. Everything tasted so fresh. I have tired all the restaurants in this area and if you are craving are want to try Pakistani or Indian food, hands down Royal Kabab is the best.

Never again! They chose the worst containers because they're sauce is like soup. They give you one spoonful of rice and four little pieces of chicken.

Comfort food at its best. Indian food is one of my favorites and I've eaten at so many places around the DMV area. There are so few places where the quality is constantly high and this is one of them. Don't be fooled by the quaint exterior, the food and service are excellent. I order either chicken or lamb biryani almost weekly because it's so delicious. The heat is moderate, the meat just melts in your mouth, the spices are numerous and well balanced, and the fresh veggies on top are an excellent addition for a flavor pop. The naan bread is always incredible. Soft and flavorful with browned bits cooked just right. It's always hot like it just came from the oven. My kiddos always get the chicken tikka masala and it never has too much heat and is always delicious. I asked my 10-year old, "Why do you like the tikka masala so much?" and he said, "I really like the tikka masala because it has a kick of spice, the chicken is really good, it goes well with the naan, and I really like the rice." What more can I say...

Stopped here to try the Krispy Crunchy Chicken since I never get to try the ones in Raleigh NC when I visit my mom. I had just finished up inspecting a bridge and decided to try. I have to say this was the first time I actually threw fried chicken away after I bought it. The wing was good, but the breast was not. I'm giving one star for the food, for having to wait at the counter for service after the workers saw me come in, and for the dismissive attitude after saying thank you.

Love eating here. Got the dal makhani, lovely, buttery and flavorful. Husband got the butter chicken. Rich, creamy and delicious. Best Indian food in town!

I’ve eaten at Royal Kabab many times. Their food is flavorful. Their Naan bread is served perfectly done. Dal Makhani is excellent. Butter chicken is tasty. But let’s talk about the buildings and grounds — you will never guess that this restaurant serves the best Indian food tucked into a gas station/truck stop. I’m ok if you don’t eat at this restaurant— more for me! (Very good and super nice chef). Thank you Royal Kabab.

If you love spicy, flavorful Indian food, this is the place to get your fix! The samosas were cooked to perfection and the lamb saag was tender and delicious. The garlic naan was a great accompaniment yo the rich saag sauce.

Literally the best naan I've ever had and I eat it very regularly. The food is tasty, too. And the staff are so friendly and welcoming. As another review said, it's a hidden gem.

Stopped in here and ordered on my way past and got charged 20% more then the listed prices. It took rechecking about 4 times before asking if my order was correct and I was told that everything is at least $1 more then the menus prices. I order 7 items in total and got charged an extra $12 so that wasn’t even accurate. Very strange in my opinion and really not acceptable. I ended up basically paying for and additional entree which is insulting because I was splitting an entree with my son to order drinks and naan while staying in budget. The food is standard Indian food. I learned my lesson and will not be returning again.

I ordered from here on DoorDash today and I am very content with my purchase. I ordered the Aloo Gobi, the Vegetable Samosas, and the Mango Lassi. The lassi was very good, strong mango flavor without being too sweet and it had a thick consistency. The samosas had a flaky crust and a flavorful filling. The tamarind sauce it came with paired well and it had a slight sweetness. The aloo gobi has a nice spice level and it came with jasmine rice and a side salad. The rice has a fluffy texture and is very fragrant. My only gripe is I wish they gave more rice. The salad was fresh and crunchy. It came with a green sauce that has cilantro and honestly I want it bottled. It goes with the samosas as well. Lastly, the meal came with a nice sized naan that may be the best I’ve had. It was very fluffy, moist and had a beautiful color. Nice portions, I was able to eat some and save the rest for later. I’ll definitely be trying things from here again !!

I found this restaurant last night and I was blown away! I got butter chicken and garlic Naan. It had a hint of spice to it (last few times from other restaurants there was no spice at all) and the Naan was so big and fluffy. This will be a new favorite spot for me and my husband. I will return for any of my future cravings! It's a good 20 mins away and the food was still very hot when he returned home with it. Worth the drive. :)

Sooooo I'm at the nephew's place and we are Covid conscious so it's take out and delivery when I come in town. This place was delish! We ordered Chicken Fried Rice and Chicken Kahari. OMG. We were blown away. Went to pick up after approximately 25 minutes and it was piping hot and the aroma was heavenly. Upon returning to his apartment..12 min travel time, it was still piping hot. Upon opening it up, it looked so tasty that it was with great gusto that we attacked our plates. Make sure to support this restaurant ..it's awesome sauce
