RuSan’s has the best sushi in Charlotte! Back Shrimp Killer Roll with Soy Paper is my fave! Their fried rice is THE BEST IN CHARLOTTE. Also a little know fact is their Crab Cake with Batayaki Sauce is INSANE!!! Best crab cake I’ve had in Charlotte.

Rusan's is a staple of the Charlotte sushi scene. We have been visiting this location for more than a decade and also evaluate new places regularly. We like that Rusan's still compares well to other places after being here this long. Their sushi is consistent and good though not the top sushi you can get. Service is attentive even in busy times and food comes out fast. Lines quickly form around 6pm for dinner so plan accordingly.

Great sushi place in Charlotte. Stays busy and everything is fresh. Been a Charlotte staple for years. Great and unique roll selection.

Great pick for Japanese food. I ordered the pork belly fried rice and it’s absolutely the best fried rice over had.The portion size is phenomenal, it provided me four portions. Every one of my friend’s dishes looked amazing. I would love to return when I’m in Charlotte to try sushi.

The Tempura Tofu roll was amazing! The crunchy muy Bueno roll was probably one of the best rolls I've ever had.

Very good sushi! We’ve tried: Rich and famous, Double deck roll, Back shrimp killer roll, Ultimate tuna roll and Kiss of fire roll. All were super delicious and fresh. One minus they don’t bring the food together. One one person was almost done with their food by the time we got our sushi.

This is just my favorite place to eat sushi. Very tasty! The staff is so friendly, especially the girls from Ukraine and Belarus.

It’s probably my favorite spot to grab sushi. The prices are reasonable. The food is great. NS the customer service is always consistently exceptional. I had the Bento box because I wanted to switch it up. As a creature of habit, I usually get the spicy edamame, rainbow roll and lettuce wraps. And while it was good, I will be going back to my regular menu items on the next visit.

Awesome, when I was done slamming sushi down my pie hole, I was pissed that I hadn't gone here more before cause now I gotta make up for lost time. The dish with 4 different types salmon is bonkers re donk a donk good.

been going here for years, food is always great and fresh just what I expected. staffs are friendly and awesome atmosphere. not your high end sushi but still great quality for the price. place is always pack for dinner so plan on leaving early. always a A+ in my book.

I will be craving their sushi!! They have so many vegetarian options and all the flavours are so clean. Perfect combinations. Their ponzu sauce goes so well. The Sweet Potato Caterpillar Maki Roll was excellent 11/10. Veggie futo maki roll was also amazing! Tempura, veggie dumplings and tofu satay was so delicious! Must try in Charlotte.

There was a glitch between the physical menu specials and the online menu, but Javier took care of the discrepancy. The food at this place is excellent, and it has been for years. My one suggestion is for management to make sure vegetarians and vegans have a special on the menu. There are adequate specials for meat eaters, but none for plant-based eaters.

Ru San's is definitely in my Top 3 sushi restaurants in Charlotte. I have never had a bad experience here, and I've never had a bad meal. The service is always on point whether I was there for Lunch or Dinner, it was always a great time. I definitely recommend making a reservation because if you think you are going to just walk in and get a table, then you should plan on waiting for a hot minute. Either way, it is worth it.

I order delivery a lot and enjoy the balance of quality and value from RunSans. The menu is extensive, but at least they have lots of fresh options! I prefer rolls without fried parts, cooked food, or cream cheese and they have so many that fit my requirements. Krystal Rainbow, which comes with ponzu, is one I keep getting. The salmon belly ngiri and o toro are a real treat.

The sushi is great! The "Trust Me" roll (which is exactly what it sounds like) was a nice surprise. Food and drinks are reasonably priced. I wouldn't say the server went above and beyond, but she did the expected minimum for a tip. Still, I would come here again.

Every time I want sushi, I come here. Sushi is good and portions are large for the price. Staff here is great and the service is always good. It's not the absolute best sushi and it's not high end, but it is the best value and that keeps me coming here every week. Even over the higher end more expensive restaurants, Ru-San's is always my favorite go-to.

I visited Ru San’s for a quick sushi bite because I was already in the area. My sister and I both ordered the Bento Box, which for $20 was a huge amount of food! Everything was very tasty and flavorful. Great value for the price. If you’re planning your first visit, be aware this place is less for vibes, more for food (it’s super casual). One thing I noticed is their sanitation score has dipped to 93…personally I think that’s pretty low, and it made us think twice, but we had already ordered our food. I will probably wait for that score to come up before I visit again.

I’ve been going to Rusans for at least 15 years. Way back when they had the sushi lunch buffet. This used to be one of my favorite Asian/Sushi restaurants. The quality of the food and service has decreased drastically. My sister and I ate there yesterday and she had to send her wine back because it tasted like vinegar. She sent her yakisoba back because it literally had ZERO sauce or flavor. My sushi was sloppy, not as advertised , and looked like a little kid rolled it AND it wasn’t fresh. My beer was delicious and my fried rice was tolerable. Our server was very kind but one of the other workers was dismissive. It’s safe to say, there are too many great sushi and Asian spots in Charlotte for me to ever spend another penny here again. Such a shame. I used to love this place.

They have many sushi options. The sushi we have got here is all very good. This time I tried the spicy udon chicken. It was ok. Honestly it was a lot of sauce and seemed to be missing the wow factor. It was not spicy at all. It was ok. I don’t mean to be critical but it tasted like something from a food court of a mall. Not terrible but it was not like one bite and I was impressed with the flavors.

Best sushi in Charlotte. Price, quality you will pay more at almost any other sushi places in Charlotte. Now that they have opened up the road closure on McDonald even easier to get to.

Sushi is okay, not great. Service was odd. We wanted to sit outside. The host handed us menus and just looked at us. We took it as seat yourself. My order was wrong- they fixed it easily. Just an ok visit.

Got a recommendation from a local here and I was a tad disappointed. The fish was slimy and left a coating on the roof of my mouth. The crab tempura was great and so were the mussels they were delicious. Fish could be held a lot better. I may return I may not. Nothing stood out

So, I've been a customer of Ru Sans for about 2 years, and this used to be a 5 or 4.9 stars kind of restaurant. I mean, it used to be great. But things have started to become unacceptable The first bad occurrence was few months ago when whilst visiting the restaurant with my family. We had to fight over soups and sides, that the server didn't bring because according to that person, that wasn't part of our order. We were arguing over something that WAS WRITTEN as included in the menu, that was F* nuts. Then the server refused to give us napkins and tried to charge a higher price than what the menu said and at that point the situation was boiling, the manager jumped in, fixed the price and offered a 50% discount and endless apologies from the team and the manager after we explained the situation. Luckily that server doesn't work there anymore and I just letted that go and didn't write anything at the time. I took their apologies and moved on. But since then, going to Ru Sans feels like a damn lottery, sometimes you'll encounter great food and great service... sometimes... oh well... Some weeks ago, they brought me something completely unrelated to what I ordered, but they offered to replace it for my actual order, no issues, just that it took quite some time. But I said okay, errors happen, no worries. On a different day, I went for a fried rice, it was SOAKING oil, the taste was still okay, but I had the concept that this placed (and Japanese overall) served healthy food, but again, feels like a lottery, sometimes you'll get it, sometimes not really... But the last thing that motivated me to write this review is this week I had to wait like 30 or 35 minutes to be served just one dish... one dish that's in the lunch menu. And we're not talking about a fully crowded restaurant... it seemed to me that in the kitchen they just thought it was a duplicate order or something because the table next to me had the same thing. I was hallucinating. I usually tip, but I'm giving no tip when I can't even eat in the restaurant... I get 1 hour lunches. I can't wait 35 minutes just for the food to be served. It'd be okay at dinner but I can't recommend the place to my coworkers no more since they're on a time schedule. I'm writing this review so they realise they need to go back to their previous high standards and improve. But lately every month I visit Ru Sans is worse and more likely for you to get this random encounters. I'll give it a considerably long time for my next visit and thats if I decide to go, just in the hopes to get a better experience, cause if this situation goes on, I ain't going back to witness it.

Worst $50 I’ve ever spent. Trash food

Finally got to go to this wonderful sushi spot that everyone recommended and man it wasn't a disappointment. No wait time for a seat. The atmosphere was great. I was really shocked on the menu that there were many options to choose from. But my food came out excellent and the waiter was great.

This place gets 2 stars because the killer roll was good but that was the only thing that was good. I also don’t appreciate that they left food items out of my order but didn’t bother to refund it or call to see if I wanted a substitute. It wasn’t accidental either as the receipt shows where they checked off everything that was actually in the bag and never checked off certain items which means they were aware they were sending the food without those items in the bag. That speaks volumes on how Terrible the customer service is. The shrimp tempura was soggy and not well coated at all. The tempura oreo was the exact same thing and it tasted extremely stale. I paid extra for broccoli but there was literally only 2 pieces of broccoli in the rice. The chicken and shrimp fried rice had absolutely no flavor it needed a sauce or something but the soy sauce they sent was horrid. It tasted like pure liquid salt. I have never had soy sauce be so unbelievable salty I almost poured it all over my food but I’m glad I tasted it first because I would have had to throw everything away. The cream puffs were mediocre. I wish I could have rated the shrimp gyoza but that was one of the items they never bothered to send even though I paid for it. Lastly the order was very poorly packed. All that food was shoved into one flimsy plastic bag smushed together with the soy sauce improperly closed swimming in the bottom of the bag. This was my first time ordering from here I spend almost $70 and they definitely left a bad first impression.

This was a very quiet and respectable sushi restaurant. The servers however seemed very impersonal and slow. The seaweed salad was great and the sushi was appetizing.

We’ve been here several times and each time the service seems to get worse. Not only does the server never return from taking your order to refill drinks/water, they don’t apologize for how long it takes the food to be served either. It would be easiest to allow customers to order from their phones as that’s all the server is good for. Our most recent visit, we arrived at 7:30pm on a Thursday night. Placed our order at 7:40pm and didn’t get our food until about 8:10pm. We ordered two sushi rolls each with an appetizer that arrived with our rolls. Food is overhyped.

I was in town for a tradeshow and conference. The Sushi was great and it’s got a really cool vibe to it. The service was out of this world. One of the best waitresses I’ve had in a long time. Outstanding service and great food. I highly recommend

My First Japanese Resturant sampling in Charlotte. The food was delicious, variety of rolls, food options.i had the Hamachi Kama also so good. Cleaned my plate.the Sonomono came with cucumbers in the soy sauce so good. Recommend and worth another trip to try more from the menu

Good lunch spot with good sushi. I was there on a Sat at 1pm it was not busy or crowded. RuSans does not do the AUCE lunch buffet anymore, they haven’t for quite a while.

My sister is a fan of this place and she recommended I try the food. I got the shrimp and scallop fried rice. I was not pleased with my food. It was greasy, the entire rice plate had 2 pieces scallops in it!🙁 I paid the extra money for shrimp & scallop rice! Not just shrimp fried rice. The crab tempura was under cooked. Overall, nice location. However, the food was not it for me. Not worth the cost. It was way to overpriced!

Friend recommended this place so I have it a shot. Prices are reasonable and the gladiator roll was amazing. I can’t remember the other I got, because the gladiator just blew me away. I was very satisfied with what I paid for the amount of food I received.

You really can't say anything bad about this place. Sushi was awesome. Our waiter was awesome. Prices were very affordable for the amount of food we got. 4 pieces spicy tuna and 10 salmon nigiri for $12.95? Sign me up. I just wish they'd bring back the lunch buffet. That's the whole reason we went to ru sans today only to find out they stopped doing it.

Hands down my favorite casual sushi restaurant. My only concern is that the service is always pretty slow and I’ve been eating here faithfully for 2 years now. The sushi rolls are also always made differently from the last time i ordered it and idk how i feel about that just because i like consistency lol. Regardless, it’s always tasty and their plum wine and sake is the bomb.

My first time here at Ru Sans, absolutely good and quality food. they weere kind enough to seat at 945 ( just 15 mins before closing). we ordered a bunch of rolls: Pork gyoza kiss of fire, atomic salmon roll, dragon eye and Tuna Bomb. For drinks: Sapporo and Plum Blossom. Total 90 bucks for 2 people Everything was good, rolls were delicious. Few things to note: rolls were heavy on sauce, dumplings were okayish. Service is great and quick and prices are really reasonable. Def recommend

Love this place. Upset they changed their miso soup though. More changes. No bottled ponzu sauce. The soda was gross. They used to do cans and the zucchini tempura was flavorless this time. Idk if they've changed owners, but this was upsetting and I've changed my rating

Fabulous sushi spot! Went just before Christmas for date night. Service was a little slow and had to ask a few times for drink refills but it was busy/holiday season. Would like to go back and try more of their menu, not just sushi. Bathrooms were very clean!

Food is always fresh and amazing. The calamari appetizer is great and so are the Shrimp gyoza. Tried udon for the 1st time and although it had great flavor I'm not a fan of the noodle consistency of udon. The yakiso a is good tho as are the fried rices. . I tried the Catherine roll as well and it was good, but I think it'll taste better flash fried.

Looks can be deceiving! The restaurant is simple and certainly not fancy, but they make up for it with their delicious sushi! I used to live an hour from Charlotte and would travel here because they had the most amazing all you can eat sushi weekday lunch specials. The freshest, tastiest sushi I have ever eaten hands down! It's a shame I live in Florida now....

Very disappointed. Great dine in restaurant however attempted to order on DoorDash and when the order was cancelled by DD & upon calling the restaurant I was notified by someone at the bar my food was stolen from the to-go section and there was nothing that could be done. This also being roughly one hour after placing my order Also was notified this a continued issue but ownership was unwilling to make changes to prevent it. Like previously mentioned great food for dine-in but very disappointed with my to-go delivery service.

I ordered the seafood ramen bowl, an avocado tuna roll, and the Ru San crab cake. I would say all in all this place is best known for their sushi, if anything besides that I’m not sure what the hype is all about. My Ramen had no seafood, basically in my “seafood Ramen bowl”. my avocado, tuna roll was great nice and fresh and delicate. Also, my crabcake was very light and crispy and came with a nice creamy sweeter sauce that I enjoyed seemed like something they made in the house. Overall if you come here, try the sushi first besides, their proteins and vegetables are pretty much all frozen and not made to order.

Average food. I'd avoid the yakitori though, We came specifically for that and it was nothing like the authentic yakitori. The sushi and fried rice were good. Service was really odd and very slow

Servers are extremely rude. Food is overpriced and over hyped. Place has really gone downhill.

The reviews here were great so we gave it a try - so glad we did. We tried the crispy teriyaki rice ball, miso soup, ginger salad, beef teriyaki, and a sushi roll. Everything, including the top shelf drinks were made well. The food was really tasty. The service was prompt and friendly. And the prices were incredibly reasonable. Would definitely eat here regularly if I lived locally.

Their food is delicious only downfall about this place is to get takeout the wait time takes way too long ill call 40 minutes ahead of time and end up waiting almost an hour.

I'm a delivery driver and they don't confirm orders and I waited 15 minutes for the answer I already knew was that someone took the order already and they don't talk to you at all and get frustrated when you force them to do their job the lady started cleaning after telling me give her a moment when she could've asked someone for me about the order very unprofessional

Food was OK but I definitely noticed the difference in how they treat customers vs the delivery drivers (doordash, uber eats, etc) and it completely explains why my food always takes forever coming from this restaurant. They are doing their jobs and also doing something for you & YOUR customers. Please fix this as soon as possible or my family & I will not be back!

Favorite sushi spot in Charlotte! My husband and I have returned here several times after a friend highly recommended it. Consistently amazing sushi and I brought a large group who all loved it too.
