Good food, good service, very good atmosphere and above all, the boss is very friendly and attentive.

Went for burger week and it was delicious

I accidentally stumbled upon Rubbies during a Google Search for wings. It was an hour and a half drive from home, and I was hesitate to have to travel that far for food. Don't second guess going here! It is worth every penny you spend. The smoked wings are literally the best wings I've had in a long time. The portion sizes are worth it, prices aren't bad, and every thing that we ordered was fantastic. The onion straws, brisket sandwich, and even the fries were perfectly seasoned, and we had more food than we knew what to do with. We've decided that despite it being so far from home, that it's probably one of the better food establishments we've had the pleasure of trying and aim to come back soon.

We visited here during Burger Week. The Bourbon BBQ sauce and onion straws caught my attention. The place is clearly an "old" neighborhood spot, but they did not disappoint! Sauce and burger was excellent. I ordered their seasoned fries too, with rosemary, Thyme, and some other seasonings. Too good. Our baby girl ordered their smoke wings. Listen..... those WINGS! WE WILL BE BACK AGAIN FOR THOSE WINGS. They didn't need sauce. Super flavorful and moist. Our baby girl also ordered a safe of loaded fries. The side serving was the size of an appetizer. The spinach dip..... 😋 😍 🙌🏾 ORDER IT!!!! My wife also ordered the Peach Cobbler when we ordered our food. It took about 45 minutes, but when I say it was worth the wait. This spot is a hidden gem. I highly recommend. Chloe was our server and she was great! Thank you for the great service and food. We'll see you again soon 😁

Came to check them out for burger week and was never greeted or seated to try the food. We waited 15 minutes and were still not greeted. The servers looked at us but never came to sit us down. Even walked over to the bar and was not acknowledged. I would not recommend this place to anyone who looks similar to me. Seems to be a members only place.Went to the next establishment on the list was seated and greeted immediately.

please just clean the place... FOOD IS AWESOME but the dining room is in huge need of a makeover (20 years ago)

We were immediately greeted and welcomed in. I wanted to try the hot brown and it did not disappoint. We also tried the wings and loved those too. I’m so glad we stumbled onto this local favorite.

I have been to Rubbie's quite a few times and the food has always been good. Today we tried the peach cobbler and I am telling you that is the best cobbler I have ever had! You need to order it when you order your food because it takes 25 to cook, but it is worth EVERY BITE!

Looking for a local restaurant that has good bbq? Rubbies was a good choice for us. The service was great, very attentive. The food was excellent. We were strongly encouraged to try their new peach cobbler. While the meal was quite filling, we decided to split a couple between the four of us. Oh wow, that was a mistake. We should have ordered four! The cobbler came fresh out of the oven, it was warm, crunchy, and full of tasty peaches. Topped with ice cream that was melting into it, it was a delight to our taste buds. While the brisket was good, the beans perfect, it was the cobbler that won the prize.

Owner was very nice restaurant was very clean! Bar had a great selection of top of the shelf selections! Was in a rush so I did order to go but will most definitely be back to try some of the smoked wings

I’ve been coming here for over 20 years. When I go to louisville I try to stop in and get the motor oil wings or the smoked wings.

Omg! The pork BBQ sandwich melts in you're mouth! Actually went there 2 days in a row because the food was so freaking good!

Ate at this place they served me raw hamburger and the wings were saturated in grease and when I pointed it out to the server. she said thats the way they are or she can get them made better but I'd have to pay for both I was not happy with the food and the server was vary rude would not ever eat here again lucky I didn't get sick

What a great find! We had the wings and they were excellent. The service was great. On the restaurant side things were much calmer than the bar side. Perfect for what we wanted on the Tuesday evening we visited.

This was a highlight of our trip. The food and service were amazing. They had a couple of big parties coming in soon but they made room for our family of 6. The wings were in my top 5 wings of all time. Smoked and still crispy was something I wasn’t expecting. We will be back!

First time checking out this establishment and I overheard the waitress telling a group of women that Rubbies has been there for thirty years.They must be doing something great because Kentucky Hot Brown is one of the top three in our area

Place is definitely a little out of date and run down. Food however was delicious. Our server was sweet and did a great job. There were two screaming babies the entire time I was there which really ruined the atmosphere for me. I just had brain surgery and loud sounds cause pain and headaches.

wow what an old timey gem! stopped for lunch and were def. sceptical based on looks . We ordered smoked chicken wings - DELICIOUS and friends ordered chicken tenders - they split it and couldn't eat them all - claimed it was best they've ever had! The waitress was on top of it and took great care of us - people very friendly

Pretend it's a 6 star review ! The bourbon sauce for the ribeye. Is to die for ! OMG the fries are simply super. Simon @ Garfunkal is the way to go. Onion straws are the perfect balance for the sweet steak sauce. Service and the feel of this place is old school and home like. Step back into a much better time. The absolute best gem in the Southend. Food is amazing. I suggest you get a peach cobbler. It's like nothing you have ever had, one of the top 10 things I've ever had anywhere.

Some of the Best Food and People in the Ville!

We just got up and left after waiting over an hour & 15 minutes for our food. My husband got up to go ask the server about our food, and he caught her using her hand as the ice scooper and putting it into someone’s cup and then took it to the table. There were three different people that came in after us, and got their food, and was already paying.

I think this place is awesome. Our hostess was the only one there while also cooking everyone's meals, yet she was still fantastic. She was very kind to us especially while under a lot of stress and the food was still amazing. I had the double decker burger with fries and a side salad. All of it was amazing. I also had a couple bites of the spinach and artichoke dip and it was so delicious and warm. I definitely recommend this place. They were amazing along with the food.

Really loved the atmosphere here. My husband was so excited to try out karaoke and ended up feeling so warm and welcomed. Plus, the hickory smoked sandwich, hot brown, and Garfunkel fries were delicious! Plus, the hot brown was nice and crisped compared to other places where the bread is usually soaked and disintegrating by the time it gets to you. Will be visiting again real soon!

It's a shame... I grew off S 3rd st, within a mile of a rubbies, and never once tried the food! So last week I tried the motor oil chicken wings and they are easily the best wings in the city. They were very good, I'll definitely be back!

Got the roast beef special to go on Monday the meat was so tough couldn't even eat my meal . Always has been good in the past was unedible. The brisket sandwich was more fat than meat. Very disappointed. Do you have a new cook???? $50.00 wasted

How have I lived in this city for so long and never eaten here before!? The wings are my new favorite... probably of all time. (I forgot to get a photo of them) The Chicken Erv was great but I have to say the Wings and Double Decker Rubbie Burger were my favorites. Can't wait to get back and try more of their menu.

I was here in 2014 during spring break on a trip to Texas. I never forgot this place. They had the most tender fresh steak I ever had. Cooked to perfection exactly how I wanted it.

My new favorite place! I got the roast beef special and it made me feel like I was at home with my mama. Also had bites of the smoked wings, potato strings, Mac, beans, etc. All AMAZING! I think anything of choice on the menu would be delicious, and I can't wait to go back and try more.

If you want the smoked wing Bloody Mary, make sure you ask for it. Otherwise you’ll just a plain (great tasting) Bloody Mary.

I enjoyed the food until the last time I got the wings. About half had feathers on them still. I couldn't eat those. I'm not sure that I'll go back after that. Up until that point, I was very pleased, but that REALLY grossed me out and may be a deal breaker.

Missed Hot Brown week last week. Driving by this restaurant and remembered they served a Hot Brown. Anyone who has ate a real hot brown would agree this is one is in name only. Deli turkey with white gravy and sprinkled cheese to top. So disappointed.

We came in town for the Jack-o-lantern spectacular on a Saturday night. Onion straws are really good. The liver is fantastic! I liked the fried chicken sandwich. Service was great also!!

We went for dinner at 5:30 on a Tuesday and they were packed. They took great care of us and the food was delicious! The brisket was tender and juicy. My friend said the club was the best she ever had, others had the wings and raved about them. We will definitely be going back!! Good job !

Came here in part of hotbrown week. Ordered a bowl of chili with spaghetti, onions and cheese and a traditional hotbrown. Chili was okay to say the least and wasn’t anything spectacular but the hotbrown was delicious and very hearty. I’m not much of a bar person but for the hotbrown alone and kind of homey experience this place is worth paying a visit.

We're here for a week long event and have eaten here twice. The food is good and the atmosphere is fun, but be prepared to wait for your food. Both nights it's taken 45 to 60 minutes to get the food out to us.

It is SO GOOD, they don’t have that many things on the menu but what they do have is AMAZING. I HIGHLY recommend the grandma Betty’s homemade chili with a grilled cheese!😋

Called ahead to make sure the kitchen was open late - they kept it going until 12am! Excellent BBQ and sides for a late night adventure, and a ton of local bourbon for dessert! Scott and Summer were holding it down and made our experience an excellent one. Highly recommend you swing through this joint!

Been eating here for years. Get the wings as they are a must try. My favorite meals are the pulled pork bbq and the Rubbies burger.

My fiancé and I stumbled across this place and fell in love on our drive back to Chicago! First and foremost the bartenders (we sat at the bar) Dana and Summer were fantastic! My fiancé ordered the Hot Brown and said it was amazing but huge- we took the rest back to the hotel. I had the Bourbon Glaze Steak- WOW the Bourbon Glaze is amazing!! I wish you sold that by the bottle as I would have brought that home as well! I highly recommend this place!! .. Lastly, the regulars there makes you feel like you are at home!! 5 Stars!!

Wanted to try some local food for dinner after visiting Churchill Downs. There was plenty of parking, although it's combined with other businesses. Not sure if the share or if you need to be on a certain side of the parking lot. This is a restaurant and bar. Approaching I only saw the bar and was thinking this was a bad idea with our youngest with us. At the door there is a sign that says bar use right door, restaurant use left door. We went in the restaurant side and were met and seating immediately. The décor was all over the place. A lot of older cool pictures' and knickknacks. Look around you'll see some cool things. This is a small eating area, about 4 booths, 4 tables and 4 high tops. The service was good, although appeared disorganized. I think there is 1 server, but the woman who seems like the manager/mom runs table to table helping as well. The wait for the food was a bit much. We ordered brisket, pulled pork and a cheeseburger. It seemed like everyone was waiting though so I assume maybe just 1 cook in the kitchen. I watched others get there food. Some got what I think was steak, still sizzling and smoking up the area. Kinda wish I would have gotten that. 1 person got a salad that was hands down the biggest salad serving I had seen my entire life. Our food portions were also large. Both the pulled chicken and brisket could have made up 2 sandwiches. The side of fries were massive thick cut fries and there had to be about 2 pounds of it. These meals could have fed us for 2 days for under $50. The only thing a didn't like was the brisket and pulled pork were a bit fattier than I prefer. Please Rubbies, don't stop what your doing! Finding places like this is why we like to travel and eat at unknown places!

I had read rave reviews about rubbies and decided to try. I don’t know if I built it up in my mind or not. The hot brown was good but I don’t know if it was any better than others I have had. My husband’s burger was just a burger not bad but not the best burger ever either.
