Very good food and atmosphere! I highly recommend. Also very reasonably priced.

Went in on labor day weekend and enjoyed some food. They had an entertainer singing songs from Bavaria and just being overall entertaining. The waiter was fantastic and rook great care of us. I highly recommend eating here.

We've gone several times to eat in person...and, when busy, I've driven into town to pick up dinner to bring home. We've never been disappointed and have always enjoyed the staff, the food and the atmosphere. We will continue to stop by whenever we are in town.

First time coming to this restaurant. The food was amazing, the employees were incredibly friendly and helpful. I will definitely be returning and recommending this place to family and friends.

Tried this place with my wife because it was on our “To Try” list. We went Saturday night and I loved the atmosphere right away. It is VERY German so I loved it! Unfortunately it was obvious they were short staffed so it seemed a bit hectic and service was slow. Vilhelm was amazing tho even though we could tell he was dealing with a lot. Might comeback for some good beer and German bread.

This is a great place for authentic German food, our waiter was fantastic and the atmosphere was great.

Edit 07/07/24: I came back recently, and my girlfriend and I were really impressed. The food was great, free salad bar is awesome and the bread they give you is delicious. And the ambiance on a Saturday was really fun, we both loved the music. Original Review: I love this style of cuisine and the music as well but I’m not sure this is the right way to execute it.

I've never eaten at a German restaurant before so I was excited to try out Rudi Lechner's today and they did not disappoint! Our waitress brought out two types of bread to pair with two different butters and honestly the darker dessert bread didn't need the butter, it was warm and delicious all on its own! I ordered the chicken schnitzel with a side of red cabbage and Austrian potatoes. Everything was seasoned to perfection but I added the gravy on all of it anyway because I'm a gravy girl. My husband was actually dipping his fries in my gravy and I tried one, absolutely delicious! The fries were perfectly crispy and paired well with the gravy. His burger was really good too! Our waitress was extremely attentive and we've already decided we'll have to visit again but on a Wednesday night when they've got live music.

The first touch of my lips on your rim was refreshing and invigorating at the same time, as if you carried the essence of purity and tradition. You good German beer according to the old purity law, I missed you, and now I know that nothing will ever come close to you. We had the best time tonight! 😃. My husband, daughter & I had a 6 pm dinner reservation, to enjoy the delicious German buffet & listen to some *live* German music. Our server was Yanni, and she was SO sweet and kind! She was awesome and we highly recommend you ask for her! 😃. We decided not to eat in this location. I wanted some German/Austrian atmosphere. Unfortunately, the restaurant is dark, the bar area very tight and smelly, plus the patio was absolutely not inviting at all. Other than some Bavarian flags inside the restaurant, there was absolutely no Bavarian / Austrian atmosphere at all.

Yummy food and fun atmosphere and of course great beers.

Our dinner was delicious, so much so that we had to take our dessert, the apple struddle, to go to eat at home. Unfortunately it was not a good struddle.

I liked the food because I got the chicken tenders with the French Fries, then when I got the dessert, it was amazing. I got the Apfel Strudel and the Black Forest Cake. The service was amazing because the waiter who gave the food was very sweet to me. The atmosphere was amazing because everywhere is clean.

Nice lunch on the Saturday before Mother's Day. Very good salad bar. Great bread and beer. Folks at the table got the Heritage Platter with a little bit of everything and the Schnitzel Platter with three different schnitzels. Cabbage rolls were great, as were the red cabbage, potatoes, and sausages. The schnitzels were very good. The latkes and kraut were good, with the only weakness being the pork loin. Overall, it was a great meal and fantastic company with my mother and daughters.

Don't come on Sunday branch. It's not the same in the all days of the week. No salad bar..the schnitzel was soaked in oil. The first time that we were their was better.. Today we are disappointed. .

I hardly give negative feedbacks however this restaurant is not recommendable unfortunately-as an Austrian I have to admit this is not german kitchen

We just tried this place for lunch and it was incredible! My husband is obsessed with German food and this was the best yet! We would definitely drive half an hour to keep coming here. Great prices, environment, beer, and of course FOOD!

Seemed pretty authentic to me. I really like the cabbage rolls. Potatoes were great. Actually everything I ate there was great!!! The live music was really an excellent touch recommend to all looking for german eateries

I had really hoped that the other reviews I had read were wrong, about the food. However, the food was very disappointing. Altho the presentation was pretty, the pork wiener schnitzel was coated in a batter that really held onto the grease when it was fried which left my gut feeling yucky later on after eating. There was more batter than there was meat. The mushroom sauce that accompanied the schnitzel was ok. Mashed potatoes where average, topped with strong frenchs fried onions. Red cabbage was ok. Other members in my group ordered rueben sandwhiches, and were also disappointed in the flavor. They brought their leftovers home and never ate them, that tells me they really didn't like their ruebens! Another member of our group had a hamburger, ordering it medium well, and it came rare. The cabbage rolls were good. The latkes where coated with the same type of batter as the schnitzel and were heavy and greasy. Salad bar was very dismal. The tap beer was good. With the exception of one other table, we appeared to be the only customers in the restaurant at 6:30 in the evening. That kind of says a lot for a Houston restaurant. I'd been trying to talk my husband to take me here for years. We don't go out to eat very often, and I'm wishing I hadn't wasted one of my outings on Rudi Lechner's.

Food was good, but not sure how authentic. I lived in Bavaria for almost 4 years, I wouldn't say this was my experience in Germany, but the food was good. I had fun. I especially liked the live music and the staff was very nice.

The Hungarian Goulash was great. The meat was tender, and the gravy was tasty. Good beer selection, and comfortable environment. The head waiter doesn't smile much, but he seems like a nice guy, and we had great service.

The food was OK. I have had better German food before. Not seasoned enough. The strudel was not as sweet as I remember and the pastry not flacky enough, which is about freshness. The service was good, but when asked for a refill of lemonaid, I was told I would be charged full price.That is ridiculous,lemonaid is a cheap drink to make. They charge $3+, so much of that is profit. Not good management. The salad bar was good. Atmosphere did not have enough German flair to it. Overall C+ rating. I doubt we will go back as we live in Spring, and the restaurant is off of Gessner and Westhimer, which is almost a 50-minute drive. Too bad as there is a need for good German food in Houston.

This is not a German Restaurant!!! Not even worth one star!! We have never been this disappointed by a restaurant like we have been tonight. I don’t even know where to start. The lemonade was watered down. The pretzel wasn’t a German Brezel it was an American pretzel I can get at any mall and it tastes better there. The Jägerschnitzel was watered down as well, the sauce didn’t have any flavor because of the water. Käsespätzle served as casserole dish, never have I ever seen this before and it was the worst Käsespätzle I have ever tasted. It was basically liquid cheese with “Spätzle” swimming in it and the top of the dish was broiled like a creme brulee. I ordered regular Spätzle but these weren’t any better, didn’t have any taste or flavor. The mixed veggies were from a microwave package. I highly recommend to rethink your concept, this is anything but good, just embarrassing. Do yourself a favor and don’t ever go here, you’ll waste your time and money, and won’t get to experience German food!!!

About as authentic German food as you can get. If I could I would eat here every single day it is so good! A culinary masterpiece

We hadn't been back to Rudi's in a long time but decided to give it a try for lunch. The first thing that struck us was how changed the inside looked from what we remembered. The vibe just didn't agree with us. Our service was adequate and reasonably prompt. The free mimosas were a nice touch. I had an omelet and it was huge and really fairly tasty. However, the Austrian potatoes were lukewarm at best and lacked much in the way of flavor. The sausage patties were okay but were very small. My wife ordered the eggs which came with a latke and bacon. The eggs were okay but the latke resembled nothing like a latke we have ever had in the past. They looked more like fried mashed potatoes but were not crispy as we expected. Her bacon was also greasy. She also never received the parmesan crostini that was supposed to come with the meal. Overall, we probably wouldn't come back for brunch. Maybe dinner is still good. We really like German/Austrian food and there aren't many other choices in Houston. Not sure if we'll try this again for dinner.

Went for their Christmas Eve Buffett. Food was okay but we were seated in the back room were we could not see the performers. Wish they had told us at the time of reservation. No effort made to reseat us even as it was clear some reservations were a no show and we had asked.

Food is great. Service is also great. It was a little slow I believe due to high occupancy and holiday season ambience is OK traditional type overall a very good experience.

My first time to Rudi’s, the food was delicious and fresh. Wow that Zucchini bread is amazing along with our Pork Shank. Service was pleasant and attentive. We will return again before Xmas.

Worst meal we’ve had in years. Potato pancakes were hard and dry. Wienerschnitzel was thin, dry and awful. Even the bread was stale. Used to be good here but will never go back again.

We were warmly greeted on arrival. The food was delicious and authentic; the Wiener schnitzel was close to what we’ve had in Germany, and there were several interesting schnitzel varieties on the menu. The spaetzle was very good, but garlicky. Salad bar was nicely presented, enclosed, clean, and with good choices. The apple strudel was outstanding and a huge portion, plenty for a couple to split.

Great restaurant! Friendly staff! And delicious food! My favorite is Eggs Benedict with salmon ☺️ I come here almost every month with my friends and always enjoy the time we spend here! Thank you so much for your great service! And thank you for allowing us to play our IQ Battle game here!

The food is wonderful & the service is 2nd to none. My family & I love this place

Walked in and was greeted immediately. We were seated right away and informed live music would be provided. There were three of us and we ordered Sliced Sausages for an appetizer as well as potato cakes. A platter of sweet bread and white bread was served immediately. The sweet bread was amazing. We got a second platter along with our appetizers. The sausages were served on a bed of sauerkraut and pickles. The potato cakes came with sour cream and applesauce. We all took a trip to the salad bar. It was fairly typical with several options including a German potato salad and a carrot salad. The music started while we were eating our salads. The crowd applauded and also sang along with several numbers. My companions ordered the veal Wiener Schnitzel while I ordered the Pork Schnitzel. We all ordered Austrian Potatoes. Two of us ordered Sauerkraut, and the other ordered Ted Cabbage. The food was great! The Schnitzels were all perfect, as were the potatoes. The Sauerkraut was perhaps the best I’ve ever had, with a light touch of sweetness. It reminded me of my mother’s homemade sauerkraut from my childhood. We were all stuffed, but having a great time. The server checked to make sure we had everything we needed. We decided to try the deserts. The German Chocolate Cake was delicious. The Streudel was cooked to perfection and we had a slice of ice cream with it. This is a great place to meet with friends or family. The employees were attentive and friendly. The other diners were friendly without being intrusive. Everyone was there to relax and enjoy a good meal, which is exactly what was provided in a very fun atmosphere with some good entertainment.

Amazing place for phenomenal German food in Houston! Made it to an evening with Randy Adams playing accordion and it was magical!

Thank you Rudi for providing the location and meals for the community to meet and interact with our officers. The atmosphere of the restaurant is good with flags and arts. The food here tastes authentic. The dish that really surprised me is the string noodles with cheese. The string noodles they used are identical to what we call the long life noodles or birthday noodles for the Chinese. The event was really a success. I'll come back for the Schweinshaxe, sausages and the beer next time.

Had my birthday celebration here. It was good. My German chocolate birthday cake was absolutely amazing; along with the waitress, Tiffany.

Had a wonderful experience here while celebrating my son's 20th. We each chose different schnitzels, of which the variety was amazing, and they were all delicious. Service was very good and the "kids" loved the music.

The place is absolutely gorgeous and very familiar, we went with a reservation and it was really packed. Friday there's live music which is even better. The attention was amazing and the food even better. I personally started with the German coffee with brandy, good Lord is exquisite, I had the cabbage rolls and they are really good. I love the fact that you can't tell from the outside how warm and welcoming it is when you get inside. 100% recommended and we definitely gonna come back. Ohh for Oktoberfest definitely the beer 🍺 is AMAZING!!!

I was really looking forward to authentic German food. Been to Germany many times and was in the military there so I think I am a good judge of German food. The most uninspiring German food I've ever had. Food was basically cold and overpriced for having two sausages and warmed over sides. Disappointed 😥 to say the least.

An experience and food was interesting because for one I never ate this type of food before but it was got. I had the sausage platter that comes with purple onions, sauerkraut, pickles, and Dijon mustard.

What an amazing German restaurant! Took the family here and we had so much fun! Tiffany was our main server and she was great! The food was really really good! I highly recommend the Jalapeño Schnitzel. Also, the potato latkes are great! Oh, the Hungarian Goulash is superb…it was all great! There’s a good beer menu and the food menu is large. We went on a Sat for lunch and there was no wait. We will be back for sure!

I am German and can tell good German food and beer from bad. I do not understand those bad reviews below. When I went for lunch the other day (actually two days in a row), nothing has changed compared to pre-Covid times. The Gulasch, the Gulasch soup and the Curry Wurst have been absolutely great. One small issue was the beer. I ordered the "Helles on Tap", which turned out not to be from Germany but from a local Houston brewery. It was not good. After pointing that out I was given another chance and ordered a bottled German beer and enjoyed my lunch. I was in heaven. Once you stay clear off the local brews, you will be just fine.

Buffet evening out with my wife. I will say it was a terrible experience going there. The people were friendly, But the food was horrible. The sausage was bland with no flavor. The rest of the meal was the same. Tasted like pre frozen Will never go back. Ordered a 7-dollar beer and was charged $9.50. Told the price went up. I like apple strudel, but this was the worst we ever had. We could not eat this meal. Waste of time to go there.

NO ROLADEN! 😭😭 WHY?? I now have to drive all the way down to Wahlberg just outside of Austin to get Roladen. Otherwise, everything is VERY good❣️🥨🍗🍖🍺

I quite enjoyed the food here. I attended a banquet held here and it was very nice. I had good off of a buffet, and while it was limited options, it was still delicious. They also had great live music playing and the staff was very nice.

Total überbewertet . Das Schnitzel war eines der schlechtesten Schnitzel die ich in meinem Leben gegessen habe. Ich bin fast 61 Jahre alt und Deutscher. Hab bisher in Deutschland und der Schweiz gelebt. Es reicht halt nicht sich ein Dirndl anzuziehen und Anton aus Tirol aus dem Lautsprecher zu spielen. Da ist man noch lange nicht authentisch. So ein Schnitzel würde kein Restaurant in Deutschland seinen Gästen servieren .

Recently learned of this place and it's Wednesday night buffet so wanted to try it. Made reservations the day before with hostess Amber and she was extremely helpful. Arrived early and met Amber and another lady at the door who was really nice. The atmosphere was great and sat next to the live music. The food was pretty good with some items better than others. The wait staff was not the friendliest but they got the job done. Crowd was very diverse from older couples to young families. The musician, hostess and atmosphere made the visit memorable. Overall, a good experience.

First went there many years ago since this was one of my grandfather's favorite restaurants when he lived here in Houston. Last time I went there, I took my wife there for a wedding anniversary dinner and tried baked escargot (covered with cheese) for the first time. Surprisingly, it wasn't bad at all but my wife refused to try it (ha ha). The food is really good and you can't go wrong with good German food there.
