Okay, if you cannot go to Greece, then you must come to Samos in Baltimore! Here you will be treated to the finest and freshest Greek cuisine. We have been coming here for a very long time and we are always welcomed back like family by Joyce and Tammy. They both took excellent care of us. We came for an early dinner on Saturday; arriving around 4:00 PM. We are glad that we did because the restaurant started to fill up after that. We started our epicurean journey with fried Kalamari – being Italian I can honestly say that Kalamari here is as good as it is in Italy. My husband ordered the Souvlaki Platter, which was came with Lamb and Steak skewers, roasted potatoes, roasted vegetables, tzatziki sauce, grilled pita wedges, and a Greek salad. We actually split the Greek salad as it was more than enough for two. I had the Gyro wrapped in grilled pita stuffed with tomatoes, onions, and tzatziki sauce. It was enormous. We love that you can BYOB. We thoroughly enjoyed our dinners.

A down home, family type restaurant with amazing food and flavors. We had the grilled octopus. AMAZING!! Tasted like we were back in Greece. The portions are amazing. Large greek salad with Lamb and Shrimp Souvlaki platter. See the pics! Tasted AMAZING. Highly recommended. Edit: came back again and the food was just as good. VERY consistently magnificent food.

Great Greek restaurant in Baltimore. Try to visit every time I am there. Four in our party. We brought a bottle of wine to share. Three of us had the lamb chops. They came with roasted potatoes and vegetables. One had the seafood pasta, also good. All entrees were served with Greek salad. Oh we shared an order of Spanakopita as an appetizer. Large so we all had a good portion. All enjoyed their food. We have never been disappointed with a meal here. Great food, great service what else could you ask for! Definitely check them out and enjoy!

We just visited Samos for the first time. The food was absolutely delicious and for such a fair price. The portions were large and tasted authentic. For awareness, we ordered a gyro platter and a Greek salad. And the icing on the cake is the amazing service they provided to us. We were treated like family, and you can tell they really take pride in their work. Will definitely be coming back!

My wife loves the tapenade and gyros here, and I love the grilled lamb (their tzatziki has the perfect amount of fresh dill and the meat is done perfectly). Their baklava is my favorite dessert ever. The dining room is informal and has Mediterranean decor, and the staff are fantastic. If you're in Greektown, this is where you want to eat.

Rare local gem owned and run by a real Greek and his Italian wife. Best lamb chops I’ve had (maybe ever?) and the homemade dolmas are delicious and extremely rare. If you want truly ethnic Greek food I can’t recommend this place more. I could go into all the details of the food and why it’s so good but honestly just come and try it yourself if like Mediterranean cuisine you won’t be disappointed.

We ordered from the catering menu for a party on Saturday 6/29/24. We ordered a large tray of pastitsio. A large tray of chicken souvlakia & a large Greek salad. All the food was excellent whether you eat in or carry out Nick & his staff does not disappoint. Thank you for the great food.

I'm an out of town diner, always on the lookout for good Greek food. Samos was a delight to find. So many combinations are possible, from a full meal to a quick appetizer and Gyro. Our table voted for the appetizer and Gyro. The baklava was also delicious. I wish I had brought another one home with me. So good! I will be back when I return to Baltimore.

This place is a hidden gem. The food is the best food I have ever eaten! Everyone that works there is super nice! The gyro is out of this world delicious!

A must-dine destination when anywhere near Baltimore. Food is authentic Greek, fresh, so delicious. I love being able to get anything from a light meal (wonderful spanakopita, tiropita, avgolemono) to large plates. Be warned - the salads are huge - the small size is enough for two if you are ordering anything else. Don’t miss the galactobouriko and rice pudding desserts.

Some of the best squid in calamari I've had on the East Coast and in Spain! All the Greek food I had there was awesome! Really enjoyed talking to the people that own/work there! A wonderful experience!

Simple, BYOB alcoholic beverages. I started with grilled octopus; so simple and FLAVORFUL! We each got an order of greek salad. I continued with shrimp souvlaki platter; perfectly seasoned. Finally, the galaktoboureko. It was so rich and creamy. My friend had seafood Santorini. Again, it was so full of flavor. The best part? Samos now ACCEPTS credit cards! Apparently, it started at the beginning of the year.

I went here for lunch with a colleague who eats here often and recommended this restaurant. It was a fantastic experience. Service was incredibly friendly, personable, and quick. The food was great, and reasonably priced. I may become a regular myself now that I know of Samos quality and the proximity to one of my offices. I highly recommend them. Oh, it also appears that they are no longer Cash Only as mentioned in prior reviews.

Coming from someone who’s greek, don’t go there expecting something really good. The « greek salad » had no olive oil, but came with an american type of salad dressing, and the gyros wasn’t what we have in greece. The tzatziki was actually good, and the staff was really nice, as well as the atmosphere.

The food was mostly good and plentyful. The seafood soup, however, was just mush and way overcooked. 4 of 10 of us drank wine but everyone was charged a corking fee of $2.50. I did not order or receive rice pilaf but was charged for it. They tacked on a 20% large party fee. These extra charges just sound desperate. Management needs to know.

Our meals are great!!! Customers seem like an old timer here, everyone knows each other, which I really love. Our server had a little accident and everyone came over to check on her. This is the place you want to go if you want a welcoming ambiance.

The food was delicious and it's a great date night spot. We shared a Greek pizza and the Souvlaki platter; both were very tasty. The service was great with just the right amount of check-ins on us.

Never again my last time going there I was waiting for the food for long time didn’t know way take so long when I asked she said she don’t know to way bad service rases I go there every other day to this restaurant for 15 days every time be like something not right about the service but today it’s last time going there after I see customers come 45 minutes after us they got the food before us

First time here I travel south from NYC had the octopus and pork souvlaki and they knocked it out of the park ( especially the octopus) Will definitely return The place has a very cozy neighborhood feel and the prices are reasonable

My wife and I ate at Samos in mid-March 2024. We went on a Saturday night around 7:30pm for dinner. Spotting the restaurant was a little tricky because of its location in on the corner in a neighborhood of Baltimore brick townhouses. Parking was also tricky and we ended up parking 2 blocks away. The restaurant was packed as you might expect on a Saturday night. There is a very small front dining room and a medium-small back dining room. We got lucky and a table in the back was just leaving as we came in, so the wait to sit was only a few minutes. They seemed a little understaffed, but the waitresses were hustling and serving everyone pretty quickly. We got water right away and when we were ready to order, the waitress came as soon as she was free. We ordered the grilled octopus appetizer, with grilled bronzino and the seafood Santorini for mains. I would like to have had a beer with dinner, but they do not server alcohol (its BYOB – our fault for not checking as this is not uncommon). The appetizer came in about 5 minutes and was fresh, hot, and VERY tasty! Our mains came about 15 minutes later (which was about right for our pace). They were both also fresh and hot and really really good. If you are in the mood for some authentic Greek food, it is worth traveling a bit to come here. Service and food were top notch and we WILL be back to try other things. NOTE: If you are looking for the typical gyro joint, this is not it. They have them, but they are not the main menu item. Also, when we left around 8:30, there was a line out the door, so this place is pretty popular with local diners.

Probably my favorite restaurant in the city, of course they make excellent greek food but its the people and location that really do it for me. The owner is always on the grill cooking up heat, but he constantly stops to say hello to the neighborhood regulars who all know each other. The servers have clearly all been working here for a long time, testament to the type of place the owner is running and theyre all the sweetest people. I only ever go when im in the area, by no means a regular and still i feel like a part of the neighborhood every time i go. As far as the food goes, ill just say that ive never been inside and not heard people speaking greek to each other- id wager a big portion of their customers are greek immigrants who know what good greek food is and this is where they eat. Samos is a true Baltimore gem, i love the food and place but i really love the people behind the food.

Came here with The Missus (Bless 'er) and The Kid recently. Charming little establishment: spotlessly clean, with tables and chairs well-matched to suit this type of restaurant. There are only ten tables (that I counted) in the main part of the restaurant, but they were full the whole time we dined. Everybody was lively and this seemed to be a very popular spot with the locals. BYOB and every table did. The grilled octopus salad was one of the best I've ever had- and I always order it if it is available. The octopus being tender and flavorful, with just a hint of char from the grill. The Missus (Bless 'er) ordered the Taramosalata, and it was excellent. For main courses, the whole grilled Bronzino (which I de-boned) for The Missus (Bless 'er) and the grilled lamb chops (med rare) for The Kid. Both were cooked perfectly. I had the 'Greek Pizza.' Bit of a misstep here: the pizza was piled high with toppings, but was sadly undercooked. I ate a piece and took the rest home, heating it at 500 for ten minutes, and it came out perfect and perfectly delicious. For dessert, the baklava and the galaktoboureko, which was new to me. The Kid and I gobbled both up in almost record time (despite being quite full from the generous portions). Side salads were served before the main courses, and they were waaay above the norm, with lots of fresh feta and crispy veg, the salads are almost a single reason to return. We are hankering to return and try more items from this small place with big flavors.

We really liked food at Samos! It is simple but very tasty and freshly made. Their desserts are just excellent! You bring your own vine. It is a true hidden gem. They don't take reservations. Highly recommend!

I travel routinely for business, and wish I could find restaurants of this quality in nearly any of the cities I visit. The food was outstanding, the service great and the price amazing. The best "price to value" in Baltimore, especially since it allows you to bring your own wine, with no corkage charge. Very small, probably 30 seats, and first come first served, with no reservations accepted, classic old school local restaurant.

THE BEST GREEK RESTAURANT IN MARYLAND. Samos standards has influenced us that no other Greek restaurant can stand up to Samos. Trying other Greek restaurants is so disappointing that I only go to Samos for Greek food. Period. Go to SAMOS on Oldham Street, Baltimore MD. The Service is spectacular (2 Beautiful Baltimore "Huns", nice women who wait the tables,) Ambiance in 2 connected East Side Baltimore row houses, nice and cozy, nothing fancy. If there were more Stars, I would give all the stars.

Extremely rude workers…If your workers have a bad day please dont let them work. I never experienced any worker who yelled to me because of couldn’t hear my order…As a result we i didnt eat and left. Disgusting place

Some of the best Greek food anywhere - souvlaki & lamb pita sandwiches are always incredibly tender, perfectly seasoned. Tried saganaki for the first time which was also good. Salad dressing, calamari, and hummus sampler are also terrific.

It's an authentic place with so tasty food! My favorite is an octopus grill and any kind of skewers!

Great restaurant, went right around 4 pm and around 5 it got quite busy and the wait time got long. But the food is great and the servers are extremely attentive checking on you and making you got everything even when it's busy.

Authentic Greek cuisine in the Greek Town neighborhood of Baltimore. The grilled octopus mezze was as good as you would find in Greece. The staff is super friendly too.

A really good Greek restaurant and the go-to place for lamb shanks. But be warned that they only do them on weekends. Be sure to BYO wine as the liquor store down the block leaves much to be desired.

Best gyros in Highlandtown. Authentic Greek food, including Greeks salads, gyros, grilled octopus, fresh desserts. Very reasonably priced. It's my go-to for quick, delicious lunch. They only accept cash, so make sure you cash before picking up or sitting down. Highly recommend.

Everything was delicious and cooked/ seasoned well. They accept cash and cards. Some staff has stayed with the restaurant for 40 years all are great people and show what a great establishment it is by the love you taste in the food. Stopped in on the way back to VA a quick stop off 95 and was sooo pleasantly surprised !! Got way more than anticipated due to great prices. I recommend!!!

Delicious food, large serving sides. They now More importantly what to order: 1️⃣ Lamb, tis da MF'n bomb! 2️⃣ Gyro 3️⃣ House salad with the sardines 4️⃣ Hummus. It should probably be 2nd it's that good. Also, you can definitely share the platters. But who wants to do that?

Such rude servers. They didn’t even make eye contact as I was waiting to be seated, when I finally stopped someone and asked they said I can wait somewhere but the wait time was unknown with such a rude attitude, I just left.

We recently dined at Samos in Greektown, and oh, what a pity it was that our experience fell just short of impeccable. The staff was unusually friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable, providing us with invaluable advice and recommendations. The restaurant exuded an authentic decor and ambiance, complemented by its neighborhood feel and fair pricing. We were particularly taken with the fantastic vegetarian dolmades, enveloped in tender grapevine leaves and complemented by a well-balanced lemon sauce that danced between bitter, acidic, and sweet. The fresh salad and delectable tzatziki only added to the delight. However, our enchantment was interrupted when a cockroach decided to join us, parading up and down the wall next to our table. A thorough cleaning to address this unwelcome guest, and we would easily award Samos five stars.

In a quiet Baltimore neighborhood sits a slice of Greece, capturing a homey taverna replete with aroma of skewered meats wafting from the kitchen and and ambient sound of doleful ballads. Place quickly filled up with dinner crowd. Ordered the combi spread of roasted eggplant, hummus and creamy fish roe which came out on a platter with warm fresh pita bread the roe was outstanding-creamy with hints of the ocean was outstanding. For mains, opted the Combo-of chicken kebab, sliced roasted meat, spinach spanokopita, dolmas, butter rice and veggies plus tzatsiki. Partner opted for the pasta and mixed seafood. Oth came with a side of greek salad. Portio s were huge and the food delicious. Dessert wasnt an optio after gorging the entrees. Total cost plus tip came to 72 USD. It was well worth the drive and the expense!? Tip-opt for smaller plates or sharing big plates to leave room for a piece of baklava! Also, they do accept cards in addition to cash but note diner needs to pay at the counter. OPA!!

If you want traditional Greek food with wonderful service this is your place. I really wish they had it started clearly they DO NOT take credit cards. I would have been extremely embarrassed if I didn't have enough cash for the bill and tip. I took away a star bc what restaurant doesn't take credit cards? They do have an ATM machine.

After one visit, it’s easy to see why this restaurant has lasted 40+ years. Simple but sufficient menu. We ordered an assortment of appetizers to try. The grilled octopus was a pleasant delight and I particularly enjoyed the grilled pork kebab. My guilty pleasure was the fluffy and flavorful pitta bread.

Take out. The order was correct, the food always consistent! The food is flavorful and good quality. The staff was friendly and accommodating, even though we ordered to go. They consistently never miss a beat! A must when in Greek Town!! And worth the drive if not!!🎉
