The atmosphere is incredible inside and out. We have been for Sunday brunch and regular menu on Saturday. Everything has been great to include the service.

The atmosphere and decor at Sanctuaria is the perfect place for Dia de los Muertos! The food is delicious and very rich, with strong flavors! The people were very friendly and just attentive enough while still giving us space for our date night. We would definitely go back!

Was skeptical at first. However, the service, the food and the atmosphere put us at ease as soon as we walked in. Come to the area once a year, Sanctuaria is a must visit from now on!

We came in for brunch with a group. The bottomless mimosas were room temp and very heavy orange juice. I asked the waitress if I could get more champagne and she stated the bartender said if I wanted to buy a bottle of champagne I could, she wouldn’t add champagne to my mimosa. So I asked if I could return the bottomless (which I only took a sip out of) and purchase a bottle of champagne, bartender said NO. So I just asked for the bottomless to be credited and I would just drink water. There’s more, but I’m not going to continue. This whole experience was very disappointing! I was really looking forward to this brunch. Our waitress did a fabulous job! I think she said it was her first day.

The Bottomless Mimosas should not be prepared together.. Juice gets hot and not much Champagne…. Food was “ok” Other than that we had a great time!

Food was really mediocre at best - despite paying $$ for what you get. One server was running all night to keep up with patio. Patio was really nice.

This was not by first visit to sanctuaria by any means, and it continues to be everything that you would expect. Only reason for the three stars is that, despite it being a Friday evening, there was no bartender or at the bar seating available, which is my go-to at the place. Not sure how you can have a place that promotes itself as being a bartender-centric designer cocktail type bar and not have a bartender working or the bar itself open for seating.

This was a fantastic choice for dinner and drinks to start off the evening! Many great tapas to choose from, I especially enjoyed the Cuban Chicken Sliders and the Tostones, but everything was good. And the cocktails, oh my — the best was Good Thyming, a delicious fruity drink, and there are so many more I want to try! The staff were also really great, very friendly to chat with and they had great suggestions for navigating the menu

This place was fabulous! The tapas came super quickly and were absolutely wonderful. I strongly recommend the dates, they were excellent. I enjoyed every dish I tried. It was a bit out of the way, so I'm glad we stumbled on it!

Great food and our server was awesome with our larger table. Late night cocktail options are nice but we didn't stay for them.

I honestly felt like the food was a bit overpriced. It wasn't bad, but the portions were just really small for the price, and some of it was just very meh. Service was great. Just couldn't believe how much we spent to not even kind of feel full.

Kendra was the best server! Great service and super knowledgeable about the menu. I came here with my boyfriend and we shared 4 plates… highly recommend the bacon wrapped dates. We can’t wait to come back in the summer and eat on the patio!

Took my brother for his birthday, ordered the bacon wrapped dates, beggars purse, devil bites, steak tips, and the Havana bread. All the food was very delish, steak tips could have had 2-3 more tips. But that Havana bread was 🔥. I will be back for more!!

Literally the best food I’ve ever had in my entire life. More people need to come here because the drinks are insane.

This place truly disappointed us! We enjoy dining at Tapas restaurants, but this one missed the mark. I got to try 6 different dishes, and the only decent one was the Cabrales cigars, which is just Blue Cheese. Usually these places tend to have good quality meats to make up for the small portions, but the beef, pork, and chicken were all extremely chewy, or undercooked/overcooked. We knew we were in trouble when their fries were bland. Service was also overwhelmingly slow, despite there being only 2 other parties there. Atmosphere was nice, the place is beautiful, but the food was just not good at all. Food needs more seasoning, and better prepping. Many of the items simply didn’t pair well. I also paid $100 for MY tab, so for $100 I expect quality and good service.

Loved our birthday dinner tonight! Foster was an amazing server and we had such a great time. Food was super yummy! Cocktails were fantastic. Highly recommend the Ariana’s Revenge cocktail. Great spot in the Grove!

The bacon & eggs were so amazing they are a very good menu item. Trevor was so good at refilling my drink. Very relaxing, comfortable, and the patio was fenominal. 💅💅💅

We went to this restaurant as they rented us the outdoor venue for a mystery dinner thrown by our friends. They assured us they could warm it appropriately for this cold February night. Our hosts called them at 430pm on the night of the event to confirm all was warm and well and they assured us it was. We got there, the 25 of us along with the mystery dinner actors hired by our hosts, to have the manager tell us the heaters went out and he apparently feel like getting more propane and we could just have our event in the main dining area in front of other guests who didn't want to hear all of our yelling and laughing but we forced to through no fault of ours. The service was horrible, it took 30 minutes to get a drink. The food? Dear God. Greasy fish sticks with mushy kettle chips and ceviche that smelled like it had turned. The Havana bread dessert was so hard and over cooked we could only eat the center out. Sooooooooooo disappointed in this place. The food was as average of Midwest bar food as you can find and the rudeness of the management sealed the deal for us that we won't be back. The hosts (my dear friends) we so hurt by this experience and I felt so bad for them.

Sat us 45 minutes late which happens. They were having a dinner theater in the middle of the restaurant which was extremely loud. Food was just okay. Chicken sliders were great. Artichokes were above average. Everything else was very subpar. Waiter forgot several items ordered. Had to go find dinnerware on our own. Really not the best. I think the theater table really overwhelmed them to be fair, but not ideal to do so on a Saturday night.

Food and service was below average for the everyday foodie. This was my first visit and I had high hopes based on the menu. My entire experience fell short of expectations

This was my first time back to the restaurant in a number of years. The food quality was honestly very poor. For a tapas restaurant, it didn't take almost an hour just for two items when the restaurant isn't even full. The flavors were completely off and it was obvious that they've incorporated cheap alternatives for food items. I was really disappointed, considering this used to be one my favorite places for dinner.

The tables were sticky and dirty. I was not at all impressed with the cleanliness.

Cocktails were actually terrible. Cosmo was so bad that switched to vodka soda with cranberry, which did not contain soda water. How is that even possible? Food met expectations, the best dish we had was the fried artichoke. Won’t return due to overall experience and price.

Pros: vibes and cute decor Cons: 2hrs to get horrible food, party of 8 and not one dish was good. Everything lacked spice/seasoning. Extremely underwhelming experience. Server forgot half our orders. They came back and told us that one of the items we had ordered was out for the night. We placed a new order and was told that that was out for the night so by the time we actually got an order in we had been sitting over an hour. Also why is the bathroom so horrendous??? Will not be returning….

Food is a combination of American finger meets Cuban and Southwestern influences. Decorations give a twisted Mexican vibe that is very inviting. Hopefully they can get the gnats under control. They swarmed over our food almost the entire meal.

Food was great here and so were the drinks. Customer service was good and the atmosphere was good in here as well. Appetizers are really good here as well as entrees. Mussels, wings, shrimp and the steak were all good and the dessert was good as well but wasn't much fan of the cheesecake sticks

Well I had a strong appreciation for the server and his work, the filet mignon was cooked properly, but not marinated or seasoned in any way. My partner's omelette was okay though. The restaurant was dirty enough that I cleaned some of the touch points myself just because they were so gross. When you go into a restaurant, you kind of expect not to be disgusted by how filthy the place is. Additionally, simply repainting the baseboards and the doors would do a lot to make the place look like the owners actually gave a rats patoot.

We had our annual holiday gathering for the teaching staff at our school. This is the 3rd year we have selected the Sanctuaria for this event. The service was excellent, the food was hot and delicious, the atmosphere was inviting and fun! The teachers loved the time together. Thank you to the staff for such a wonderful time.

Our holiday party was at Sanctuaria and we had a great time! The food was fantastic and the waiters we had were very attentive. I wasn't planning on eating so much but the food was so good, I couldn't stop ordering different things. The asiago seafood appetizer dip and glazed carrots side dish were my favorite. We had a blast!

I really enjoyed my time here the food, service and atmosphere was amazing I have told all my friends and family and we all plan on going back for dinner very soon thank you for the experience.

Sadly (with the exception of the sangria flight) all the food was completely unremarkable or bordered on bad. The guacamole was good, but the plantain chips were soggy and chewy. The steak tips were undercooked and fatty. The patates bravas didn’t have near enough sauce, so they lacked any flavor. None of the tapas came with serving utensils so we had to use our own forks to scoop up the food - fine bc we’ve been married forever, but if I was there with friends or coworkers that would give me the ick. Our server was friendly and attentive, but trash talked other tables to us which didn’t feel great. Overall the meal was completely unremarkable and we won’t be returning.

Restaurant was practically empty and service was poor — slow, didn’t give us menus, utensils, etc. Food was awful. Rubbery chicken, bland mushrooms, chewy unflavored plantains and the list goes on. To top things off, there was a hair in our food and nats climbing all over the walls. I’m shocked they didn’t even compensate us whatsoever for all the many issues. Will not go back and hope this review saves someone else!!

I’ve heard good things about this place. Overall our visit was ok. Not bad. We were looking for a fun night with tapas. Drinks all seemed really good. Food was good not great. Nothing amazing about it. It was pretty empty which is not a heard a good sign. On the expensive side. May try it again in the summer to check out the patio.

The food was good and the service was very good. I found the atmosphere a bit “old” in the sense that the place was not very vibrant.

Service was a bit slow but that seem due to lack of servers. Food was good and everyone was very kind.

Disappointing food and service. The Good: We enjoyed the Vaca Frita with chimichurri. The crispy beef and garlic mashed potatoes were delicious but wish there was more chimichurri. Our cocktails were decent (Lovey Dovey, Daniel Sun) and I enjoyed the tequila flight. The not-so-good: the servers and food runners were consistently confused about what tables got what dishes. Our table was frequently overlooked for water refills and we were only checked in on once in the 90 minutes we sat the table. We had to flag our server down anytime we needed anything. The Bad: The patatas bravas were dry, unseasoned hash browns with the smallest drizzle of aioli that it couldn’t be tasted. The “wicked good” shrimp were so NOT good, we actually sent it back (which is something we never do). Overcooked shrimp in a brown water broth that wasn’t even worthy of sopping up with the stale bread that was provided. Chips and salsa were underwhelming.

The wicked shrimp were inedible and the bread was stale. Potatoes were disappointing Below average service. Won't be going back.

The atmosphere was great. We had a large party out in the green house setup with original uneven cobblestones (ladies watch out if wearing heels) The place says Latin American but the food tastes like someone visited somewhere south and figured St. Louis locals wouldn't be able to tell the difference. A great place for a date or pre date before going somewhere else. The service was wonderful and Haley was awesome. Although I didn't like most of the food you have to try the bacon wrapped dates.

Fast service and very space nice outside and inside

What a disappointment! I haven’t been there in several years and thought I would revisit.  the drinks were bad, the food was bad, and the restaurant was extremely dirty and understaffed.

Overall very enjoyable experience, but it would be unfair to rate Sanctuaria on a weekend when an annual street fair was taking place right outside of their doors. We will definitely be back.

The food is mediocre and the menu is limited. We were not offered any drinks other than water, so not sure about the drinks. The waitress was very nice though. We enjoy trying restaurants we haven’t been to but we will not be returning to this one.

The shrimp was over cooked. The artichokes were mundane. The guacamole was heavy on vinegar. In short, the quality at Sanctuaria is much lower than it used to be.

We sat outside and it was nice. Waitress was good. It did change mid point but they were able to keep things in order.

This is a totally unique dining experience. Very eclectic place with lots of cool stuff to look at. The outdoor patio is really nice but there’s a lot of uneven walking. No high heels here. The food is interesting, but not as flavorful as I expected from the menu. Our server Foster was awesome. He was doing it all tonight. Waiting on Al the tables, bringing water, tending bar. Thankfully it wasn’t very busy. Overall good vibe and ok food.

Service and tapas were very good, but what really makes Sanctuaria stand out is the atmosphere, including the large multi-level outdoor area.

The food here is amazing! The drinks are not the best and they are pretty expensive for them not to taste good. The drinks are also pretty small too. The place is decorated amazingly!! The courtyard out back is awesome too. Service was good as well.

Nice place for tapas in St. Louis Forest Park area. Went after 8 on a Saturday evening and had reservations, but that wouldn't have been necessary, as plenty of tables were available. Ate outside in the courtyard & our server was very accommodating. All the dishes we ordered were very good with the exception of the beef tips which contained quite a bit of fat. Tasty items included wine, guacamole with warm chips, beef medallions, glazed carrots and mussels. The mussels were prepared in a thick "Spanish-style" tomato sauce, so be aware if you prefer a lighter wine sauce. Overall, a pleasant experience.

We are fortunate to have had many great dining experiences all over the world. We recently finally got a reservation at The Girl and the Goat in Chicago after 5 years of trying. Even though TGG is Michelin rated, we enjoyed Sanctuaria MUCH more. The service was friendly and attentive, the ambiance of the outside dining area was very cool, and the food was tremendous. We loved Sanctuaria in every sense.

The staff at Sanctuaria was super nice and accommodating, the patio was nice, but to be honest, the food was terrible. We ordered large and small plates and they were tasteless. It’s too bad because it’s a nice concept. I hope they rework the menu.

The waitress worked really hard for being the only server so props to her and had to make her own drinks for 8 tables at once. They are understaffed and the food was mediocre to say the best. Drinks were disappointing.

Food varied - some dishes were very good while others were just OK. Generally, too expensive based on size of dishes. Service was fine. Outdoor patio looks fun, but band was loud so we sat inside. Biggest disappointment was Rose Sangria - like very diluted flavored water. Liked the general vibe and atmosphere.

Food and drinks were great and our server was awesome (Kendra I think?). Wasn't super busy when we went so it was pretty quiet. We will definitely be back again to check out the rest of the menu items.

Cocktails were great and the Sangria was also. Very cool atmosphere and was dark and lively. Bacon wrapped dates are a must try. The plantains with guava jelly and cheese were great too. Hint. Order extra bread when you order the shrimp or the button mushrooms. It takes a minute to get so order at the same time. This is a great place for date night or with a large group.

Food was quite good. Our waitress was overwhelmed. She did a good job considering. Perhaps they were short-staffed. The only knock on this restaurant is the noise. It's so loud you can barely carry on a conversation.

The food was very bland I thought the Frittata bun Should have been toasted not plain the meat was very small on it hardly any potatoes over all the food just wasn’t that impressive

We had several dishes from the tapas menu and a dessert. The Devil Bites (pulled pork and cheese rolled into a ball and deep fried) were the highlight. We also ordered filet medallions and pork kebabs. Both the beef and the pork was poorly trimmed and had veins of fat and gristle running through the meat. This is especially problematic when you're getting such a small portion of meat (understandable when ordering from the tapas menu) and half of the portion is inedible. The waitress was friendly and attentive. The decor inside is odd--think Day of the Dead, or goth. The patio was very nice and neutrally decorated.

Made reservations ahead of time. They sat us right away. The waiter was very good but very busy. There were a few things that were unavailable to eat which was disappointing but everything else we received was good. Wicked good shrimp was good and spicy. Deviled bites, button mushrooms and asiago seafood dip was good. We also tried the salmon, pork tenderloin, strip steak, and the wings. Everything is good. The steak could have been better, but was good and cooked correctly. The outside atmosphere is great and would recommend.
