My favorite sashimi on the west shore

I was excited to try this place due to the high ratings, but the sushi was disappointing. The shrimp tempura roll had an unusual amount of lettuce and cucumber, which I've never encountered before. The spicy tuna tasted like it was just mixed with a lot of Tabasco sauce. Unfortunately, I wouldn't recommend it.

My favourite sushi spot in the area. Reasonably priced, quality food, fast and friendly service. My only complaint is the car park is tricky and most of the patrons seem to be people who should not have a drivers license.

Always great service and I'm seeing improvement in food quality, after a little slippage post COVID. Friendly staff and always a great family dinner outing. Highly recommended! Three stars for the atmosphere as I think it's time to freshen it a bit, especially the side room. My recommendation is don't sit in this room unless you must.

Exceptional Sushi Experience at Sapporo East - A True Gem! I can't speak highly enough of Sapporo East Sushi Restaurant - it has become a weekly ritual for my fiance and me, and sometimes we can't resist stopping by more often! From the moment we walk in, we are greeted by the amazing staff who make every visit memorable. In particular, the servers Ferry and Diane are simply outstanding - they have gone above and beyond to make us feel like part of the Sapporo family, always remembering our names and treating us with the utmost care and attention. What truly sets Sapporo East apart is their exceptional sushi quality and inventive rolls. My fiance, who was never a sushi fan before, is now a convert thanks to the incredibly fresh fish and delicious rolls served here. Among our favorite sushi rolls that I highly recommend are the White Sand, Ray's Roll, and the Black Pearl - each one bursting with unique flavors that keep us coming back for more. Every bite is a burst of flavor, and we always leave feeling completely satisfied. We have even made Sapporo East our go-to spot for double dates with friends, as the inviting atmosphere and top-notch service never disappoint. If you're looking for a sushi experience that exceeds expectations, look no further than Sapporo East. We give it five stars without hesitation - this place is a true gem that deserves all the praise it gets!

The sushi is my favorite and it is so fresh and presented with care. The staff is always friendly and courteous and the atmosphere is welcoming. You almost feel like you are being welcomed into someone's home.

Family wanted to try a new sushi place. It will be our last. Hibachi was served with plain white rice, not fried. Sushi was not good tasted like the wasabi was mixed in when I ordered salmon and cream cheese only. Had to ask for our own drinks. We had three different servers they tended the others mostly and would skip us. Staff was so loud amongst each other standing around. After no one came to refill drinks or see if we even like our food, stacked our plates to edge of table. My kids and I went to the car as my husband waited to pay the check. None of the 3 servers seemed to realize all the stacked plates and the fact everyone left but husband. He finally had to wave him over to pay and leave. Needless to say we wont be back.

This great little gem in Mechanicsburg has a diverse menu with great selections. I'm pretty sure they have the more choices of seafood than any place we have visited in the area. The service was impeccable.

Very nice restaurant. their sushi is fresh and very high quality. I highly recommend any roll with fresh salmon in it- i like the salmon and avocado hand roll. One of my favorite spots in the area.

I've been going to this sushi place for years. The sushi is always fresh and tasty. The decor is small and honestly needs some updating, but if you are looking for consistently good sushi sapporo east is a great pick.

I had just driven from Tx to Camp Hill for a job and wanted something light for dinner. When the sushi roll I got said real crab I expected king crab or similar but it was blue or lump crab. It wasn't as good as I expected but not bad.

Came here after getting shafted at mikado and im pretty sure we made the right decision. As soon as we walked in we were seated and drink order taken, the server was extremely friendly and he was wearing a cat (heavy equipment) shirt. He took our sushi order which was fairly large and our sushi came out fairly quickly and it was delicious. Do yourself a favor and skip the b.s. at mikado, grab yourself some beer or wine and head to sapporo east! It’s b.y.o.b

Absolutely first rate sushi rolls, pricey but totally worth it. I can't even say much about the rest of the menu because my husband and I always just order four special chef rolls and an order of seafood fried rice to go for lunch the next day. Wish we could afford to eat here more often but you get what you pay for: excellent top-notch sushi!

Closed at 9:30 on a Saturday, their website states 10:30. I’m sure they have the rest of their act together based on people that have actually gone when they are open. UPDATE YOUR Website with current operational hours.

This place is consistently delicious.

The food is amazing , service was great , 10/10 recommend! I ordered the Yaki Udon, my fiancé ordered the Seafood hibachi and for appetizer we ordered Gyoza. Also, the to-go boxes are top tier not the flimsy styrofoam.

Small, cozy place. Ordered the Shrimp udon. It was quite bland. Looks like most folks were eating sushi. Probably should have been my choice as well.

Very unique flavor profiles for their sushi rolls, which is nice to see. Service was good as well.

Went with a bunch of people and we all enjoyed the sushi. Food came out pretty quick. I had tea and it had a pretty high quality taste to it. Would recommend.

Sapporo is a weekly lunch spot for my husband and a friend. I've joined them on several occasions. The food is fresh. The salad is crispy with a ginger dressing. The Miso soup is served with their lunch specials. I usually order the Chicken Hibachi and have a bit leftover for lunch the next day. The service is quick and pleasant.

We had a dinner for a one year celebration of a friend of ours. There was fourteen of us. The service was great and the food was excellent.

Every time I come here with my family, we are greeted with a warm welcome. Super kind people. But, that's not why we travel over an hour to come here. We made Sapporo East our primary go-to for sushi simply because the quality of the sushi nigiri and rolls are just that good. We've been to near 20 sushi restaurants between Williamsport and Harrisburg and the Camp Hill area, and this place has consistently had the very best quality sushi out of all of our experiences in the Susquehanna Valley. Highly recommended.

Excellent!!! I can't say enough about how great this experience was. We had takeout from this location in 2020, but we were always very overwhelmed by the crowds - always seemed too packed to get a table. We made a reservation this time, however, at the hour we went (5pm), it wasn't so bad. It did fill up around the time we were leaving. I can't even remember the rolls we got, but they were DELICIOUS. My favorite thing on the menu is the Maryland spring roll. It's an appetizer, but I could eat it as a meal, it's that good. Service was excellent, as well. The only complaint that I had was that it was a little warm and stuffy in the back where we were seated. Do yourself a favor and go there!!

Sapporo east is a cute little Japanese restaurant located right on the pike. The inside area is decorated to look mainly like bamboo, with the ceiling resembling a sushi mat. There are two main dining areas in the restaurant, with one side a little more private. They do have sushi, hibachi, fried rice, and a few other things on the menu. This was a visit for international sushi day, so today was all about sushi. One of my friends said "wow this is probably the best spicy tuna roll I've ever had". Specialty rolls that I'd recommend are the Miami Spice Roll (the seared tuna on top makes it 10/10). The Aloha roll has yellowtail inside it that is seared to perfection. The orange flamingo and shrimp tempura were very tasty as well. For the simpler palatte, the japanese bagel roll and spicy tuna roll were great. For those who may want to share sushi and sashimi, they do make sushi boats with a variety of sushi and sashimi to share as well! The service here is good, with multiple servers checking in on you from time to time. Our order did take very long to come out, however, the waiter was nice enough to give us a discount for any inconvenience.

Spider roll was excellent, presentation was beautiful. Food was brought out quickly and staff is extremely friendly.

I regularly eat at Sapporo, typically for takeout. Their sushi is excellent, by far some of the best in the area. I've never had an issue, and there are often coupons in The Clipper magazine/flyer that comes out by mail. The restaurant atmosphere is great if you dine in, very comfortable and clean. Great spot for friends and family, or a date night. I hope you like it as much as I do!

Got lunch a spider roll & spicy tuna. The spider roll which was supposed to have soft shell crab in it had no 🦀 in it 80% breading & the tuna roll was extremely dry & no flavor. First time there & will never go back! I've been to sushi restaurants all over the world & 2 say I was disappointed is an under statement!

One of the best in the area, hands-down. The staff here are all lovely. They are so kind, soft-spoken, and are willing to help you with anything you need. The sushi choices are phenomenal and the sushi itself is fresh and delicious! I highly recommend this location if you're in the area and you love sushi.

I have ordered food here hundreds, if not thousands of times over the course of many years and have never been let down. Not even one time. The quality of the food it top notch. Clearly better than any other sushi place in the area after you have tried them all. Friendly staff, fair prices and great food. Do yourself a favor and stop reading. Call Sapporo East right now!

I love the relaxing coffee house style music they play, sushi, hibachi and other Japanese cuisine is great and reasonably priced. Comfortable

BYOB location. Tried this place on a whim while traveling through town, can't recommend it enough. Quality of everything is outstanding. We got a mixture of basic rolls and some house and chef specials. It's hard to pick a favorite. I encourage you to experience this dilemma firsthand.

Unlike most restaurants these days, they seemed over-staffed. The staff were very attentive, sushi delicious. Even our 9 and 12 yr old boys loved their sushi dishes and the calamari.

Sapporo East is a cute and cozy sushi/hibachi restaurant. The staff are all super friendly and welcoming and make you feel at home. The place is clean and the good smells great upon entering. Be sure to check out their special rolls on the boards behind the sushi chefs! I went for one of the specials called Black Pearl and a regular spicy tuna roll. The Black Pearl was delicious with a fried scallop inside, black pepper tuna on the outside and topped with two delicious sauces including a homemade scallion sauce. The iced green tea is also delicious!! Overall a great place to meet up with friends for some delicious sushi!

This was my first time at this restaurant and I was overall pleased with my experience. The sushi was great, the unagi donburi was fantastic, and the service was exemplary. I never did get the server's name but she was wonderful, it was evident she cared about her customer's satisfaction. The prices are also unbelieveably fair. One piece of constructive criticism: put a bento on the menu. It is a staple of Japan and I will always order one.

Outside needs TLC. Interior, food quality, service and presentation are absolutely par excellence!

The sushi was prepared incredibly quick and the staff was really attentive and nice! It was my first time having sashimi, so it's a texture I'm definitely not familiar with. It was beautifully presented and delicious.

I came here for the first time for a birthday celebration. There were a variety of things ordered and I tried many of them other than my order of the sushi and sashimi combo with a seaweed salad side. Everything that came on my plate was good and fresh, and everything else that I tasted from other dishes were just as good. I really don't have anything to complain about and I'd recommend them as a simple place to come. The service was also fast for 7 people and the staff was very friendly.

Got one of the specials, as did friend I was with so got to try hers as well and both were amazing. Staff was super friendly and patient. Can't believe never knew this was here. Will def be my sushi spot and will take everyone I know here.

So disappointed. I’ve been a dedicated fan of Sapporo East for 20 years and have rarely if ever had a bad meal here. All I can say is that Henry must be on vacation. I ordered coconut shrimp. Seriously overcooked and tough. Also ordered House special roll. Avocado was over ripe and there was too much of it. Thick chunks. The salmon on top way over cooked and not good. I ordered w real crab and so paid a premium for this meal. Henry, where are you? I’ll come back but it better be the Sapporo I love and expect.

They have excellent sushi worth driving out of the way for. However, I encountered an issue when picking up a recent to-go order: I mistakenly thought their web site listed a yellowtail roll for $4.50. I was therefore surprised when I was charged $7.50. In discussing this with the employee that helped me, I was informed that the price on the web site was incorrect, that it had been for some time and that he was aware of the discrepancy. I was naturally a bit peeved when he wouldn’t make a price adjustment. Rather, when I was unwilling to pay what I believed was an incorrect price, he removed the roll from my to-go container. It turns out that I’d looked at the menu wrong, but I didn’t learn this until the owner / management responded to an earlier two-star review. (I appreciate them reaching out.) Long story short, this situation should have been handled better in the restaurant. Given that my error kicked off the unfortunate chain of events, however, I’m fine letting this go. As anticipated, the sushi I did return home with was delicious.

Group of 6 of us for dinner, I think they may have lost 4 of the orders, very slow from the kitchen. We were given a discount on our meals for the delay. 2 people almost finished their meal before others arrived.

Pretty small cozy restaurant, very busy when we were there. Tried the sushi boat for 2 and boyfriends parents got shrimp teriyaki and a salmon teriyaki (didn’t want to be rude so no pictures of their meals) both said it was good, the shrimp pieces were fairly large. We rated the sushi boat a 3 out of five. We were hoping to substitute more sushi pieces of our choice than the sashimi. The sashimi pieces were pretty thick. Wasn’t too bad overall

One of the best sushi places of the general Harrisburg area. Great sushi and wanted Ebi Yakisoba but were out of soba noodles so had it with Udon instead. Definitely better with Soba. Otherwise had a great experience with attentive staff without being over-attentive.
