Tasty Indian food with the right amount of spices. This place can get crowded over the weekend

The food from this restaurant is amazing! We were surprised how vegetarian food can be so delicious! The mango lassi is also super good and has the right amount of sweetness. There are no open windows so the place gets super hot, that was a bit uncomfortable, my father had to step outside to breathe fresh air because he was feeling lightheaded. The service was good, they were kind and helpful.

Visiting from Austin Texas and our family that lives here said we were going to order from a place they liked. I loved their food! The stuffed naan was amazing the samosa’s were the best I have had. Everything was so delicious and flavorful and I pretty much danced at the table as I ate it. It was so good! Don’t pass this place up. You may look at it and see no meat, but you will not miss it at all! Love this place. I will definitely eat here again and will crave this place!!

Satkar is overwhelmed with well-deserved demand. They don't need you, but once you eat here, you'll need them. An aspiring patron needs persistence, and sometimes many phone calls before an employee deigns to answer. When you finally get through, you have mere moments to state your order. Be prepared and decisive. Squander this rare opportunity and you'll have to restart the process. But, when you complete this gauntlet, you will be rewarded. The food is amazing - not your glammed-up, expensive, overdressed Indian fare masquerading as casual. Satkar delivers the radical idea that you can have unpretentious, high-quality (albeit a bit oily) food for reasonable prices (by Bay Area standards). For a vegetarian, this place is truly a godsend. Their Bhatura is fluffy, their Cholae rich. The Shahi and Karahi are well-balanced, tangy, yet still pack a good kick. Nothing is heavily drenched in cream, and they never skimp on the Kofta. Every time I visit, I see the chef in the back, tending to the tandoor as a blacksmith tends the forge, and I can only say one thing: Go off, King.

This is our favorite place in Sunnyvale for North Indian take out. I have been getting take out here consistently for 5 years and they never disappoint.

The best Indian food in the Bay Area hands down. So flavorful and delicious! If you like spice, you’ll LOVE this place! They no longer serve meat, but as a carnivore I still find their food to die for.

First time eating here since they went full vegetarian and it was soooo good! We had the paneer tikka with rice and the Aloo Kasoori Meethi Wrap.

The most flavorful North Indian food I've had in the bay area. Try Channa Masala and Mushroom mutter masala.

Worst place to ever eat any food. So shocked by the reviews! No one cares about even taking your order, the paneer kharahi was the worst, garlic naan was decent and the rice that came with the curry was oily and smelled bad.

Tried mushroom matar masala,palak paneer and breads . Breads were good but the portion size of the curries , quality and taste was very disappointing.Mushroom masala gravy looked very simple without the richness and thickness that you would expect out of a restaurant style gravy.The flavors in curries are nothing special for the price .Portion size for $14 curry is a small bowl which is not acceptably.If people are aware of how every item actually tastes ,they would never go back again to this restaurant. The place is overrated.

I like spicy food. I stressed that and the chef brought me a sample before finishing the cook. Not only was that nice, it was also spicy. I have never had this treatment before. Oh yeah, the biryani was delicious. The samosa was a little bland but ok. I wouldn’t eat in. It’s tiny and hot.

Amazing vegetarian Indian restaurant. Be aware that you might see non vegetarian images in previous reviews but they don’t offer non vegetarian options anymore. Regardless the food is amazing full of flavor and people who run the place are very kind.

One of the best spots for North Indian food. Lovely people and great food for insane value. Recommend takeout as the interior is very small. Mushroom matar masala, aloo gobi, palak paneer, naan, veg biryani are all great. Chicken tikka is fantastic but they do not serve meat anymore.

This is a family run place which makes food from scratch. The taste is unbeatable and I keep going there again and again! Would recommend the chana masala and mushroom mutter masala. The place is small and has about 10 tables, so you might have to wait if you plan to dine-in. They do take-outs and catering orders too. In terms of taste, I bet there is no other place better than this for Indian food.

The chole curry is probably the best I have tasted in a long time. They are a made-to-order type restaurant but the wait is worth it.

The food is made with love, a hidden gem in the city. Have been here for a long time, and coming back after a few years now, nothing's changed. dal makhani and navratna korma are my favorites!

Great little Indian restaurant on El camino real road. It is run by a family and you can see the warmth in the food they meticulously prepare. The taste is on point to what you'd expect from a North Indian restaurant even back in India, we had chole baturas & aloo tikki chat. You know the food is good when you eat it so fast and forget to take pictures :D The seating is limited and not fancy at all but I grew up appreciating the small restaurants that give you great food and don't charge you fancy money for interior and decor.

I tried the kadai paneer, after seeing so many positive reviews around this restaurant. But the gravy was nothing close to kadai paneer. It was just a tomato gravy with huge ginger pieces. Taste was average

Very sweet people. I am a regular there. Their food is amazing specially samosa chat, chole bhature, aloo paratha.

It is mostly take out restaurant with few tables inside. We tried the chilli pakora and Shahi paneer. Chilli pakora was satisfactory not too oily, but too many pieces for just two of us. Probably better for a bigger group. Loved the shahi paneer and the soft plain and garlic naan along with it!

Amazing veg food. My husband and I eat veg biriyani at least once a week from here. Absolutely love it.

Authentic North Indian food. Top-tier service, absolutely smooth experience dealing with the staff. Nothing makes me happier than seeing good variety and quality vegetarian options. Both our veg and non vegetarian friends thoroughly enjoyed their meal. Seems to be family run business, so that’s nice to support as well. All in all, perfect experience.

Veg food is probably the best value and taste in Bay area. All veg items and expanded menu means more items for vegetarians.

Need ventilation system and restrooms. Food tastes good. Service is bit slow as they prepare food after you order. We tried Chole bhature, Garlic naan, Daal and rice. Menu is all vegetarian Edit - our 2nd visit - Tried Samosa Chaat, aloo Kulcha, Mixed veg masala , garlic naan, and rice. Everything was wonderful, especially Kulcha!!! Got to know that they recently turned all vegetarian menu.

Delicious North Indian fare, especially the flavorful Chole Bhature. Cozy ambiance, attentive service— a must-visit for north indian authentic culinary delights! The tastes feels like homemade food. Even the veg pakoras are phenomenal and crispy with the added spices on it. It might seem the order comes in slow, but sure they seem to be cooked to perfection. Worth the wait.

Amazing selection of vegetarian dishes. I ordered the Palak Paneer with naan, and best dish I’ve had in a while. Friendly and accommodating staff as well. I would leave more stars if I could.

This restaurant is pure veg now and has the tastiest food in Bay Area. Their shahi paneer is out of the world imo. If you have not tried this restaurant yet then highly recommend you should soon. Subji comes with complimentary naan or rice. Food is authentic Indian and if you prefer mild spicy then tell them when ordering.

I've tried a variety of paneer/chicken/lamb curries here. All were tasty and they never skimped on paneer or meat. Update on Oct 20, 2023: They only serve vegetarian now

Shahi paneer was good. It comes with a choice of naan/rice. We got naan but it was okay, not that great. Portion size was good for two person. Mango Lassi was also good.

I ordered take-away, tandoori chicken, asked the person on phone if this was made in Tandoor, he confirmed yes. I asked how come you’re not selling Tandoori roti? He said we don’t have, said ok. I picked the food and guess what the chicken is definitely not made in tandoor. Tasteless and the naan is probably sourced carefully from Safeway store?? Maybe!! Hmm !! Please get some fresh ingredients and believe in giving that to customers.

Do you guys really make naan in tandoor ? I think they are all reheated by their texture and fluffiness. Red color to chicken ? And it’s tandoori ? There are no skewers holes in the chicken, how do you put that in tandoor ? The paneer is chewy, it can only become chewy if it has milk powder added to it while making and only commercial suppliers do that ! don’t know how guys rate this food high, I think it’s highly commercialized factor food supply. I don’t rate Seriously overrated and bad food.

Recently we ordered chicken biriyani, chicken wrap and fish masala. It was a takeout order. We love the unique biriyani here. It tastes similar to Bengali polau and is a bit sweeter with corn and green bell peppers. It is not a traditional biriyani taste but we like the twist. The fish was nice and soft in fish masala but the curry had a ginger after taste. Similar review for the chicken wrap also as we felt it was a bit strong on ginger.

THIS IS LITERALLY MY FAVORITE RESTAURANT EVER. I would want this to be my last meal. Their chicken tikka masala is what the witch in Narnia would have used to lure me in instead of turkish delight. When friends come to town to visit I always take them here. I usually go for the chicken tikka masala and channa masala but everything else is fabulous too. Generally I get takeout because they're so busy during meal times.

Certain items are good, others hit & miss. Veg biryani is not good

Terribly cooked food. Naans were all just reheated, not fresh at all. Shahi paneer looked like achari paneer, wasn't so fun to eat.

A very very delicious Indian Punjabi food place. We had the shahi paneer, dal makhani, garlic naan and onion naan. The food was served piping hot and was very tasty. The naans are amazingly crispy and fresh. I haven't had such naans at most of the other Indian places in the Bay area. The staff is also warm and accommodating. Must try place for some lovely homely Punjabi Indian food.

Satkar serves the best North Indian food in Bay Area. We have tried their Shahi Paneer, Lamb Biryani, Dal Makhani and Chicken wrap. All the food items were delicious. I have taken one star off because almost all the foods had long pieces of ginger. Imagine having a bite of nice and creamy shahi paneer along with garlic naan and then you bite on to a piece of ginger, it just messes up the whole taste.

We went on a Saturday evening for dinner.. didn't realize they are majorly a to go place but looks like they have dine in over the weekend.. Not a lot of seats, probably can fit 15 people between 4 groups We ordered the pakora(excellent), Malai kofta (was good), Shahi paneer (was good), dal makhani (was ok) n naans (was ok).. service is good.. Was nice when they enquired about any allergies

Best Indian food in Mountain View, Menlo Park, Sunnyvale area - and that's saying something! So flavorful. We got medium spicy Baigan Barta and Palaak Paneer (both with naan) and a vegetable biryani. Perfect.

Ordered a kadai paneer dish. It was terribly bland and tasteless. Chewed on a whole big piece of ginger and had to spit it out. On complaining the owner gaslights you to believe that all their guests love having these whole pieces of ginger in their dishes. Apparently, she doesn’t know why these are supposed to be finely chopped. I’m left wondering what kind of Aliens they cook for.

The worst kadhai paneer ever..it literally felt like its tossed in onion and tomato ketchup..no taste os fennel seeds corriander seeds or any other spices that are normally used in making kadhai paneer

Yes I found another best North Indian style authentic Punjabi style food .. my search is finished now.. will visit this place again and again . Mouthwatering dishes.. if I have options to give more than 5 stars I will give for sure. So we ordered dahi vada -must must try so authentic and soft juicy yummy 10/10 for this dish. Then chole bhature - the best bhaturas in Bay Area I can guarantee everyone. Tandoori makhni was awesome. Only bad taste I felt is biriyani but does not matter for other dishes I will visit again and Again - please do visit this place

Can’t praise this family-run spot enough. I lived in Sunnyvale for 3yr starting in 2018 and must have eaten from Satkar at least 15 times. Our go-to was shahi paneer, palak paneer / mattar paneer, and chicken tikka masala / chicken makhani with garlic naan or chapati on the rare occasions they had it. We learnt that you HAVE TO call literally hours in advance — I’m talking before 6pm in order to get food before 9pm. But it was always worth it, even with it almost always being a takeout experience with COVID and the size of their restaurant (couldn’t seat more than 20 people).

Good food options with decent quality except for veg biryani which turned out to be really pathetic (sweet, no salan etc). Please take it off the menu.

Food takes like 30minutes once you order. Naan and chicken tikka masala was good, malai kofta tasted more turmeric.

I ordered dal makhani, chicken Tikka, samosa chaat and garlic naan. Samosa Chaat was the only exception in an otherwise very very average food.. the chicken Tikka was dry, naan was Afghani naans and felt they were undercooked.. Dal makhani was nothing to talk about as well.. Very very average Indian food..

This place is great! The atmosphere is basic and gets the job done, but the food is excellent. We come here every time we are in town, it’s a highlight for us for sure! We love ordering the chicken korma, palak paneer and baigan bharta. Be sure to order garlic naan as the plain leaves you wanting a little more.

Best place in Sunnyvale CA to enjoy North Indian food. Must try Naan. Quantity is apt and tastes super yummy. Tough to control, if one loves north Indian food.

This is the best Indian I've had in South Bay. Because it's so good, wait times are often extremely long, but this is a natural consequence of having such fantastic offerings at a surprisingly low price for Sunnyvale.

Love this place! It does take a while and there's limited seating, so I normally just call (an hour) ahead to order then pick up! But every time I've gone, food is always solid and flavorful. Definitely coming back to this place.

I and my friends have been big fans of Satkar food. It’s almost always consistent. This time we didn’t find the Naans too good but all the currys were so delcious. We ordered for Baigan Bharat, Daal, kofta, Garlic naans. Their Daal is properly mixed, thick and so delicious like we used to have at home. Baigan Bharta was also very good. Maybe getting their currys and cooking fulkas at home will make the meal super duper tasty if possible.

So good! And when you say spicy, they take you seriously!! I will be coming back here over and over again!

Best Indian food and best value Indian food in the Bay indeed. The wait is what gets ya.

A consistently good Indian restaurant in the bay area. Not overly popular yet always busy. Not a whole of the seating area, but take out is popular. Food is perfectly balanced and priced properly. Not Many options like many other bay area Indian restaurants, but quality is good here.

Great place to get Punjabi takeout. A small, unassuming place, but frequented by lots of Indians so you know it's good. Family run and friendly folks working there.

Had chole bahtura and paneer wrap. Paneer wrap was almost authentic Indian. Both of them were nice flavorful not “spicy” (aka not dumped in red chili powder) Only callout would be for bhature. It was like a big poori not really a bhautra. Tasted good so I didn’t mind.

Ordered Baingan Bharta - one of their best vegetarian entrees as per them. Timely pick up. It was okay in taste but it had a week's worth of my oil consumption in a single dish!! Won't repeat, won't recommend just too much oil in a simple thing.
