We were on the way back to Rockland and stopped here to have lunch. Wasnt bad but wont come back again. The service was great. Friendly and helpful staff. Food was mediocre at its best. This is more like Chinese restaurant than Japanese. We had udon and not impressed…

Not a bad place, but everything I have ordered so far is lacking in flavor and has a lot of excess oil. Great service and nicely decorated place with good seating and atmosphere.

We travel the country, and let me tell you…this is some of the BEST Asian Cuisine we have had! Everything is so damn good! Best sesame chicken I personally have ever had! And if you go…WHICH YOU NEED TO! Ask for DANIELLE to take care of you, she was outstanding all the way around! This is food you will crave, not joking!

Food is always amazing here. Insane roll on special was great. Some of the interior decor could use updating. We drive an hour to come here without hesitation.

A truly immersive gastronomic experience. Shinbashi was a tremendous restaurant. For my main I tried the Pineapple Chicken which was served in a half pineapple. We we're served the most vibrant colored green tea I've ever personally encountered.

We stopped here for lunch on Wednesday and we were the only customers. I still don't know why: the food is amazing, prices are reasonable and the service is very fast and friendly. I'm hoping that this was one off because this place deserves to be busy for lunch, it's great! We had a few different rolls, miso soup and a bowl of tom yum.

Heavenly tasted food with authenticity, ambience and service is awesome. Will visit this place again if i ever get back to maine. ♥️

our server was amazing and kind,we had to wait 2 minutes to be seated and the food came out quickly!! the restaurant design was very amazing,and decorative!! and the food was so good + they gave us lots and lots of food!! and had multiple Asian foods i couldn't even finish it😭😭 OVERALL 10/10 BEST ASAIN RESTAURANT IN ELLSWORTH❤️ I RECOMMEND GOING

My first visit back in several years as I was in the area visiting. Always a wonderful experience and delicious food. The staff is just amazing as well.

I would definitely give 5-star to this restaurant for its authentic lobster dishes. And, if you find Laoganma spicy sauce in the kitchen, don't be surprised:)

The pork fried rice tasted a little off, compared to my visit 2 weeks before. It is a nice restaurant.

🤗Best dragon buns that I ever and had /w wonderful dinner plus service was great 🤗 There was time id pop in with a few drinks in me and since then i felt really bad for how sloshed i was. However, i still order from them and have controlled the drinking. this place is extremely respectable and has a mazing food service and an atmosphere making this place the perfect spot for a date first or otherwise. come in clean and youll feel great. respectable staff and whom ever manages knows what their doing keep up the good work. Big apologiez for the time im sure you guys have had that alot before but youguys are so respectable and hard working you dont deserve some random drunkness entering it is a very friendly place. so people , families, if you just want dinner and have the money go for it youll have enough for some left overs as their portions are great

Quiet place with a good selection of food, including sushi and bento boxes. Don’t miss nice desserts. A good place to stop by after you no longer can eat Maine lobsters.

Sitting at the sushi bar made for immediate service. I was even handed my rolls directly from the Chef. The food was delicious. I order the 3 rolls lunch special which allows for any 3 choices off the Sushi Roll List which was quite extensive. And comes with a Soup or salad starter.

Some of the best sushi we have found on the east coast! The rolls and portions are huge. Huge menu so be prepared for selections.

Staff is not trained to the level of fine dining. Sushi is good. Great spicy tuna rools

We went out for a girls night on Friday and had a great time. Started off with fried calamari and crab rangoons following with some chicken wonton soup. We had cam for a waiter and he was incredible. Despite being a busy night at the restaurant , and he was extremely attentive , Very Polite ,kept checking in to see how we were doing ,everything came out in a timely manner. Will definitely be back! Great food and a great atmosphere !

Order variety of items for take out. Staff was friendly, place looked nice. But there was a lack of flavor and the soy sauce was not regular soy sauce.

3rd time coming here and let me just say, if you want the best dining experience of your entire life, this is the place to go! Food was absolutely amazing. The chicken fingers are to die for. We had the pleasure of having Bing as our waitress. As a toddler parent, it’s not always easy eating out with a 2 year old but she was empathetic and very caring. Made sure to cut up fresh fruit for my daughter as she tends to get hangry. She’s very attentive and great with young children. She also gave us a fantastic recommendations on mixed drinks to try as my fiancé and I tend to be creatures of habit. This place will always have a special place in my heart

The atmosphere was nice, we were there during off hours so it wasn't busy, lights were very bright though. Food was very good, fresh, large portions! Nice staff, very helpful, very large comfy booths!

Buyer beware!! Being a local it’s sucks to have to leave this review but I Just got crab rangoons on 1/12/23 around 4pm, got home around 4:45 5:00 pm, heated them up just to bite into a GREEENISH/BLUE mass. Never had a problem here before but will definitely never go back! And I advise anyone looking for anything seafood related to do the same! If the imitation crab is rancid, what else in their filthy kitchen is? Probably not the totes of raw fish they keep on the floor right? ( that information comes from a former employee and is new to me, regard less I’m definitely never eating there again)

Me and my wife both travel alot and this was most definitely the best service, Food and overall environment we’ve witnessed in a restaurant and very clean!

A really great Asian Fusion restaurant. The portions here are really quite large. Everything was delicious. I had a light green tea to start. For apps, My table had crab Rangoons (very large, nor greasy, and filled with a creamy crab rich filling...I did not have any, but my table ate them all), miso soup and Wong tong noodles. The miso soup is pictured. The soup was warm, lots of spinach. I next tried a single won ton strip. My parents really enjoyed the won ton soup. I ordered the dinner bento box. It came with the miso soup, an order of sushi (I selected the sweet potato sushi w. avocado), I selected chicken katsu (lighted breaded), the bento box came with greens, eggplant/green beans that were pickled, white rice, dumplings, and fruit (lychee and pineapple). It was such a lot of food! It was really great. There were chopsticks on the table. A little pouring ceramic of soy sauce. The sushi roll came with 6 pieces. The plate was very green Wasabi and ginger. The sweet potato sushi was really interesting. It had a great texture. The chicken katsu was not greasy and a lot of chicken. The fruit was palate cleaning. The people next to us got a hot pot that looked really fun. I went to the bathroom. Really clean with unique colorful fixtures. Our server was very attentive, but left us able to converse. The night ended with a fortune cookie. My fortune is that I will visit here next time I breeze through Ellesworth!

This is our go-to dining spot. Our regular order usually includes health salads (if I recall correctly, these have fresh seaweed, avocado, lettuce, shredded carrots, purple cabbage, cucumber and some kind of delicious creamy ginger dressing), vegetable tiger rolls, pan fried vegetable dumplings, and orange tofu. We have also enjoyed the steamed vegetable dumplings, mango tofu (no longer on the menu; not sure if they’ll still make it upon request), sweet potato rolls, and cucumber rolls. We have not inquired yet whether the dressing on the health salad is vegan, but we are hoping it is. 😊

you come to this part of maine for nature and the outdoors, you stay for shinbashi. not to be dramatic, but this was the best asian food my partner and i have ever had. the crab rangoon is 11/10, the sushi is absolutely amazing, and the portion for the sweet and sour chicken is insane. you really get a bang for your buck here. the staff was friendly and the service was fast. if you want good asian food in this area, come here.

Eat there many times definitely a local favorite. Go only on weekdays so there is no wait.

Dropped in for some sushi on a day trip to the area. Sushi was great! But the real surprise was the coconut shrimp. It was fried excellently and the sauce had an extra little citrus tone. In addition to these it came resting on a bed of honeydew melon and was prepared so beautifully. Would recommend for Asian cuisine.

We used to love this place years ago. The sushi has really taken a nose dive sadly. I was scared to continue eating, just didn’t seem fresh. The service is always great though and the atmosphere is cute!

Not authentic or fresh, and expensive

Reservation for 12 on 8/24 for 2 birthday dinners. We were seated in a private room and had an amazing waitress. Best sweet-n-sour chicken and pork fried rice ever!

We ordered takeout lunch at shinbashi and it was ready in a timely manner. I arrived and paid, and was given my paper bag with my order: Lunch any 3 roll Spicy tuna Spicy salmon roll Spicy California roll Crab Rangoon And house salad. All 3 rolls were placed in one small black box that included ginger and wasabi but no soy sauce. All of the fish was minced. Overall the rolls had very little flavor. The seaweed was very chewy. We enjoyed the crab rangoons. We may consider coming back and trying again.

Lack of competition, food is OKAY, not as good as expected really, rice is too hard, no taste, a sushi shop should never save on rice, it's the heart and soul.

The food was delicious! There are many vegetarian and vegan options. I had the vegetable dumplings and general tso’s tofu. They were both very good.

Restaurant was beautiful, service was top notch and staff was very friendly, accommodating and family oriented. Food wasn't that great. We may have a different taste. But, some items had no taste and some of the sushi was still a bit frozen. Could be how they prepared. Or, the healthy ingredients that they used. Sushi was well stored. Would visit again with different food selections. Thank you.

This is the first time I have eaten at this establishment in quite sometime. Actually the first time I have eaten there on a Sunday. This visit I had their Orange Chicken and Fried Rice. Very tasty, I had forgotten they have lots of veggies in the rice.

Best sushi restaurant in Maine.

Great place. But it seem that a bunch of people wanted lite spicy ( don't order it) and I guess that means everyone other dining floor must want the same NOPE. so I got a lame spice.

The first time I went here a few weeks ago it was honestly the best sushi I’d ever had; I got miso soup, tuna dumplings, and the red lobster roll. They were all fantastic. However, I went again about two days ago and I think they had a different chef, but the food just wasn’t as good. Also the miso soup was oddly sweet?

Unfortunately, I had to edit my original review of this place. At the time of eating, the food was excellent. However, a day later, I and a few other family members who ate there got food poisoning from the leftovers. Lots of diarrhea and throwing up. I will not be returning to this place ever and will likely not eat Asian food for a long time

Great looking place. Big emphasis on drinks. Moo shu pork and pad Thai were fine, but not particularly authentic. (Tomatoes but no limes in the pad thai). Huge portions. My only criticism is that the menu could use a tighter focus: Chinese, Thai AND Japanese food is too diffuse.

Always a treat. Over the years, I have eaten there close to 50 times, and I have found that they are consistent with everything they do. The food is always well prepared and artistic. Furthermore, the service is always welcoming and accommodating. Every time that they ask me which type of roll I want, I say "surprise me"... and to this day, I have never been disappointed. Till next time soon.

We did take out so can’t say much about the the restaurant itself but the food is excellent. We got Mongolian beef, Schezuan fish , chicken mei fun ( rice noodles) , miso soup. Everything was delicious and flavorful. The dishes are a bit on the pricier side but the portions are huge and made with quality ingredients. One entree can be shared by 2 people.

Went to Shinbashi the other night and it was our first time going. It was amazing and the food was outstanding and so was the service. Our waitress Bing was incredible and will be definitely going back.

Very nice 4th of July experience. I tried the Happy Family meal with my family, we all enjoyed the sauce with white rice.

Everything about it was great. Huge menu selection, friendly server who wasn't over bearing or neglectful, massive portions, & decent prices. Wish I had one in my area!

Hands down, best Asian food i tried in my life. We moved 2 months ago to Hartford, CT and i am still trying to find Asian food as good as Shinbashi.

I love shinbashi! Their food is so much better then some of the other Asian cuisines in the area.

This place was fun. The food was great. The staff was so kind. The drinks were wonderful. I had the General Tso's Chicken Box. I loved the idea of having fresh fruit with my meal. The atmosphere was very authentic. I felt very at home here.

What an incredible find in a era where great restaurants are far and few between. Shinbashi is a gem. The wait staff is fast and efficient, friendly and clean. The minute you walk in they ask you if you need a drink. The decor is authentic and well built. The food is a 10. Real crab meat, amazing sauces, and freshly made meats. This place is going to make you happy guaranteed. Thank you for the experience.

Lovely restaurant, they were very quick with our order and the food was delicious. The sushi was excellent and the appetizers were delicious. I really liked the atmosphere at this restaurant, clean and cozy.
