This place is great. I think that many people, who wrote a negative review, need to travel more often. You want French style food but you want American style service. Well as the French say "tant pis." That isn't how it works, there is no waitress that kneels beside you with a big juicy smile, asks you how you are, even though they don't know you or care. This place has delicious food and has straight forward service. It is French food in America, and in Tampa, there is no better. So don't miss out. Go prepared to dine slow and enjoy sitting and talking to the person you came with, because if you are in a hurry, you missed the point of a lovely food and dining experience anyway.

Excellent bakery/café. Delicious pastries!

This was my first visit to So Gourmet and I’ll definitely be back. Note: this is not the place to visit if you are in a massive rush. The owners/staff take their time waiting on you. However, I find that part of the appeal (and it’s very true-to-Europe, they aren’t in a rush and neither should you). Once I ordered my food it arrived very quickly. I ordered the goat cheese salad and it was hands-down one of the best salads I’ve had in all of Tampa. Very generous portion of spinach, walnuts, and goat cheese. The dressing was subtle but perfect. The quiches and dessert on display looked amazing as well, but I did not try them. I’m very excited about this restaurant and will definitely return to try more menu items, especially breakfast.

I live in the neighborhood and took a walk with my wife this morning. Strolled in to try this place out finally. We ordered the egg breakfast with cappuccino and took home the strawberry tart. The home fries are the best I have ever had in my life. Everything was on point. I always check the negative reviews to see what the complainers point out. I went in for food period and the results were outstanding. ILL BE BACK!

Puff Pastry: Frozen factory made, delivered twice a week Croissant:Frozen factory made, delivered twice a week Chocolate Croissant: Frozen factory made, delivered twice a week Almonds croissant: DAYS old croissant soaked in sugar water and filled with almonds cream, stored uncover for few more Days before been cooked again a second time and left outside in the windows up to 5 days (you could be eating a croissant that was already cooked 5 to 6 days ago, RECYCLING I GUESS) Quiches, cooked for 2 hours and store for up to 5 days ( they clearly have no idea what fresh mean) Onions soup, Made once every two weeks, from water and factory processed powdered beef stock, served with a slice of old dry cooked frozen baguette and factory processed and grated cheese) Any other soup they have also Chicken flavored factory processed powdered stock Hollandaise sauce: store ought Knorr powder hollandaise mixed with milked and boiled ( it has absolutely nothing close to be or tase like a hollandaise sauce, it contains chicken flavored "so here you go my dear vegetarian Friend" taste and smell absolutely horrendous and is reheat for 3 or 4 days depending how much they use. Beef burgundy: cooked with the factory process Beef flavored powder stock Turkey for turkey sandwich and everything else, is Store bought white meat processed deli style turkey (basically it is turkey scrap glue together with the help of various powdered additive and flavored with more fake flavoring agent PS THE FACTORY PACKAGING TELLS YOU THAT YOU CA KEEP IT FOR 90 DAYS. ANY MEAT UNLESS DRY AGED BEEF THAT TELLS YOU CAN BE KEPT FOR 90 DAYS, WELL YOU SHOULD RUN AWAY, AND A BIG AND IT SMELL AND TASTE LIKE CAT FOOD. Croque monsieur: pre-made with the minimum amount of cheese or meat a croque monsieur has ever seen on frozen bread of course. NOW THE PASTRY PART: Maccaron: Frozen factory made all the pastry have the same almond cream, they only change the topping but don't be fooled they taste all the same they are all pre-made cooked and frozen and defrosted on daily basic, changes are that your SO CALLED FRESH FRENCH pastry was made a few weeks ago AND OF COURSE ALL THIS FOOD IS NICELY REHEATED IN A MICROWAVE OVEN. AND YES MR OF SO GOURMET A TURBOT CHEF IS A MICROWAVE OVEN. AND FOR ALL THE CUSTOMER THAT WONDER, ANY FOOD THAT IS PREPARED AND SERVED IN LESS THAT 10 MINUTES IS NOT FRESHLY MADE, TRUST ME I KNOW WHAT I AM TALKING ABOUT. Now the owner are the first to complain how the food in America is bad, how the American have o taste or food education and that in Tampa there is not a single restaurant cooking Fresh food. HOWEVER THEY HAVE NO SHAME PULLING WOOL OVER THE CUSTOMER EYES. So my advices TO ANYONE is TO stay away, PS, all picture are real picture from SO GOURMET KITCHEN FREEZER. Have a great day.

The best breakfast I have eaten outside of my wife's kitchen. The staff was very polite even though they needed help. My whole family enjoyed their meal . We will be back and will recommend to others.

Bruh legit drove 40 minutes for them to be closed. The website and everything said they open 7am Sunday and they are closed TOMORROW on MLK day. It’s even on the front locked door saying they open 7am Sunday and closed MONDAY. 🙄🙄🙄

So Gourmet is where you can find a true French home cooked meal. Like it’s name, this little French bistro is a place to eat delicious food. The food is mouth watering and the prices are excellent. Everything is made from scratch and served with heart. Typical French restaurants are mediocre at best with a hefty price tag. So Gourmet is not the typical French restaurant. It is the best place in Tampa to get a French home cooked meal. If you can, book an after hours meal when they host festivities. Your tastebuds will be in heaven. This little bistro is where I go to eat the best pastries, croissants, quiche, and crepes in Tampa. A plus is the atmosphere and good wine and beer selection.

Just amazing. Came in and they welcome me and my family with a big smile, they were very patient and the food was just great. Everything seemed fresh and we could see it was hand made. 11/10

So Gourmet is perhaps one of the best places to eat in all of Tampa. It is owned by a French family and specializes in French cuisine that after having visited France myself, I understand to be the real deal. The quality of the ingredients is only surpassed by the skill with which they are prepared. So Gourmet specializes in breakfast and lunches, but they have beer on tap and a lovely wine selection, as well as their Crown Jewel, their pastry display. It's simply amazing how beautiful everything looks in there, and you can simply go to this restaurant just to see the edible works of art that are made daily with precision and care. So Gourmet is an affordable special treat, where you get is what you pay for, and much more. Not to mention there's always someone to greet you as you enter, and to give you salutations as you exit. It's just a wonderful place to be, especially if you want a beautiful and delicious meal.

The most delicious lunch I've had in a long time!!!!! Most amazing delicious delightful delicate dessert I've had in my life, lime mousse and mango, with coconut!!!! Ugh all so delicious. Will be back many times to try every dessert!!!!

The food here is top notch. Unfortunately the service is incredibly slow and more than a little bit disorganized. It's really annoying when people who come in after me are served first, only because their seat is closer to the register.

Loved this place. I had the French Onion soup and my husband had the chicken Cesar salad. The salad was a generous portion with lots of grilled chicken. The soup was a big bowl with yummy bread and cheese on top. The dessert selection was beautiful, and I took home a big raspberry macaron. They also have an extensive wine selection, but unfortunately, I did not get to try any. Iwould definitely recommend this place, and I hope to go there again.

Unbelievably rude! The owners are SO rude! I could not believe how they were speaking to their employees. I will never go back just for that reason. I have been in a few times for breakfast/lunch, and the last time I was there, I thought maybe the husband that owns the restaurant was just having a bad day. After this morning, I am appalled. That is NOT how you run a business, you don’t treat people that way! And especially with customers in earshot! Owners weren’t very friendly to us customers either. Will not go back, or suggest anyone that I know visits this establishment. Poorly managed - won’t stay in business long running it like this. Pastries were good, but atmosphere and unfriendly personnel ruined it all.

Best crepes, quiche, and pastries in town! Both owners work in-house and are French. They have beer, wine, and espresso. They also have a bar to sit at if you want to go alone and read like I did :)

Delicious authentic french bakery. Every item i have tried so far is delicious and authentic. I didn’t give it a 5 stars just due to the prices are little high but may be because of the location. I would still encourage anyone to try it.

I love going to So Gourmet for their Fresh and fantastic pastries and food. You can tell they use all natural ingredients. They make very authentic French pastries, bread, and croissants.

Most authentic French Food in Tampa. They have an amazing pastry chef that always out does himself and is there year-round. They have a solid food menu with their dinner menus differing based on which chef is in town when you visit. I would highly recommend a visit!

A wide assortment of French style pastries and coffee make this a worth stop. Relax and enjoy the experience and the company of those around you. If you cannot do that this really isn’t the place for you. A great wine selection to accompany your meal. I came for breakfast and my only hesitation is the butter and jam are packaged. Fresh jams and butters would truly make this French breakfast experience.

This place is so poorly managed the two waiters were cleaning dishes in the front as we sat waiting for the coffee we asked for 30 minutes ago. We asked for a croissant which was sitting ready in the counter and took 20 mins to receive. Not to mention asking for creamer three times and never receiving it. When we finally got the check after asking twice, we found we were overcharged for the already overpriced food. We really felt like we were in France again for all the wrong reasons. Won't be returning or recommending this place to anyone.

Rude sever and worst customer service. Will never go there again or recommend any of my friends. Wanted to order a coffee, lady told me she was busy and couln’t take my order. There were only three people including me. I sat there for 20 min without water or menu. Finally, she decided to take my order, never apologized.

Worst service ever!! Walked in to place an order and since the lady that serves was upset she took it out on me and said the kitchen was closed!!! Refused to provide services I was in shock. I have never ever had this happen before what a shame.

I am French..... and I just discovered this gem in south Tampa..... Incredible.... TRUE AUTHENTIC FRENCH food..... super good... I left with a huge selection of beautiful fruit pies.... So impatient to have dinner if the desserts are as good as the almond croissant I had for breakfast there... so thankful we So Gourmet so close to were we live... I will be going back very soon with the entire family.... Some to celebrate in style... I am back...Can't resist the call of good food at So Gourmet!!! Still as good as I remembered!

Great fresh French food and crepes are the best in Tampa Bay.

Truly phenomenal food. First time we came, it was really slow. Like we waited an hour between placing our order and getting our breakfast. Second time, it was like a normal 15 min. Both times, the food was FREAKING AWESOMMME.

the husband can make some great pastries the wife however works in the front and she is the rudest thing. if the two of them get in to an argument or something one of them doesn't come to work and they simply don't open the doors bad business. again the wife is incredibly rude.

The place is clean and nice. The food was great. I had the eggs Benedict with a side of bacon. The bacon was the best I have ever tasted. It is a chill place to have a great meal.

Very pleased with this place. It is sort of short on seating, so we were lucky to get there before the lunch rush. Within 30 minutes, every table was taken. The food prep service was a bit slow, but very polite servers and definitely worth the wait. I got the french onion soup which was top notch. Also got a ham and cheese croissant which came with a side salad. Everything was so good, I had to get some dessert to go for the family. I even liked the fact that the tables were solid and didn't shake back and forth when I cut my food. Going back to this place again soon.

I had the Spinach and Goat Cheese Quiche. It offered a very flakey pastry crust, generous portions of spinach, the right amount of egg, but could have used much more cheese. The included Mixed Greens salad with balsamic vinaigrette dressing was tangy but not over the top acidic. The greens were fresh and crispy. So Gourmet is purely French. It offers French cuisine and is owned by French nationals. The food is typically fresh and very good especially the bakery items (especially the croissants). They seem to struggle with not having enough staff to run efficiently though as they have not been open for dinner for some time after parting ways with their French born chef. They have yet to hire a replacement.

So Gourmet is inspired. Definitely adding this to my list of regular places. Like the rest of Tampa, this is a brand new building surrounded 80s edifications. What's the deal with that? The cuisine is exquisite and the staffers are entertaining and friendly. Also, they show Premier games. I'm not the biggest soccer fan, but I find British host voices pair well with crepes. Definitely give this a try

The most authentic French cuisine in the city of Tampa. I've traveled through France and much of western Europe. I can say that they bring Europe to Tampa. It's a family run business so you know that they put their heart into the food.

Everything looked great bUT the lady working who seamed to be the owner or someone who was running the place couldn't stay off the phone to answer my questions being that it was my first time in a French cafe so much less did she even get off the phone to take my order so i walked out

I must be honest the manager a ms. Chantelle my apologies for the spelling of her name is clearly unprepared for events in the city. I came the morning after the gasparilla parade my party was completely ignored by none other than the manager herself. I asked to speak with her outside as not to disturb the other patrons but was not satisfied with the results as she became defensive and nearly combative overall I must say that her situation and attitude deterred me from and attempt to enjoy a meal in an establishment whose decor overwhelmingly suggested otherwise

Horrible service!! Women there was extremely rude every time she came over. This place really went downhill. Food was greasy and sloppy too. Definitely not going back there.

Food looked nice, but even walking to the counter won't get you service, or even eye contact. Clearly overwhelmed, and under-apologetic. 25 minutes, 3 people, no waters or menus. Spend less time cooking your quiche, (seriously, it looked a bit dry) and more time greeting your clientele and making people feel welcome: It goes a long way.

Very rude manager and terrible service.. food was average and not worth coming again for it.. worst experience for me in Tampa! They did huge mistake in my order and when I found out about it the lady refused to apologize and she said the Chef sometimes got confused!! And she refused to waive the fee or apologize!! I don't recommend this place at all!

Terrible customer service! I asked for Turkey and got Pork then I asked the manager if I got the right order and said yes without even looking and I asked her to double check and turned out to be Pork! She gave me another plate but didn't even apologized properly! and made me pay for it also! I used to be a customer but I'm not going back ever and will not recommend at all! she was rude even though she knows me as a frequent customer! If you don't care about your customers I'm sorry to say you're business can't operate without happy customers!

Horrible !! Waited 20 min for a cold coffee , the server or owner( who ever it is) don't have any sense of what a business is.. Not consistent with their menu at all ! There's not even fresh made juices! And the quiche is not made everyday .. Bakeries in France are much better , they didn't learn well this business

5 Stars for the food - French Bread plate, Farm plate, fresh apple tart pastries some of our favorites. Quiches a little salty but otherwise wonderfully fresh and authentic. We love the owner/ chef for his culinary talents. That's where it ends. 1 Star (being kind) for front of house restaurant management. Poor service, the wife does not enjoy being there, she is uncomfortably quiet never ever greeting customers as they arrive and staff follows her lead. And if you show up upon opening at 7:30 or 8:00 many times they do not have many of their items "not yet baked or ready" including my favorites. Owner chef I guess does not believe he needs to come in early to make sure all breakfast items available and ready for opening of restaurant. Twice we have left restaurant because they literally had none of the items my wife and I ordered all for PREP reasons. And it's a limited breakfast menu as it is. The coffee cups are beautiful but thin ceramic and no handle so you burn your hands when you try to drink/smell the fresh brewed coffee . Not being able to smell the aroma of your coffee in a French bakery/cafe is a sin. REPLACE THOSE CUPS NOW!!! Unfortunately, I do not think this wonderful French bakery cafe will make it long term. GREAT food, horrible management and no business sense. Unhappy front of house management. After meeting all I suspect the front of the house will shy away from solving these glaring issues and the French owner /chef would want to argue with me, yell at me or throw me out, opposed to solving the management problems to ensure a life long success in the restaurant business. I will be back for the food and I will always be upset with how unhappy and inept front of house management is every time we go (if you wish to call it that - actually ZERO management).

This is the real French experience. Pastries and food are amazing. It is a bit like Europe in the clean, fresh atmosphere. It is a family business so if you have to wait a few minutes for service...wait! It is worth it. South Tampa has nothing else like it.

It looks really nice but it was closed. I found some scraps on the ground and they were delicious
