If you live in Reisterstown and have not visited Sonny Lee's you are missing out. The staff is so friendly. I once picked up carry out with my infant son (who was asleep) and when I went inside they told me next time to wait in the car and they will bring my food to me and pick up payment. It is the small things like this that really make a difference. I've had nothing but great service coming here for the last 2 and a half years.

I returned hear for dinner last week and every time I do it gets better and better! Every aspect of this place will always get FIVE STARS from me,from the greeting upon entering,the pleasant atmosphere,the attention to details,the excellent fare and the sweet goodbyes! OMG THE BEST. We love Sonny Lee’s but when we had Covid last week, we ended up ordering so much wonton soup to go. It was life-giving. The service is always fast and good.

Upon hearing there is new leadership I had to try this place out. The sushi was superb and the entrees were beyond our expectations. I cannot think of another Chinese restaurant in this region that compares to Sony Lee's Hunan Taste near Reisterstown Maryland. It was such a pleasure last week that we returned this week also. It maintained the same level of quality and service. You will not be disappointed. The Peking Duck was served skillfully and the other items we ordered were delicious and bountiful.

First time really eating any Asian cuisine beyond takeout so my opinion may be skewed but I really enjoyed the pepper beef, onions were abit large but it was good Service was very friendly and attentive, Portions are large, and the place looks good and clean What's not to like? Only reason I give a 4 for food is my lack of experience with this style of food

This was my first experience at Sonny Lee's Hunan taste. We were with a large group of people for dinner. The wait staff was impeccable. Despite the many orders and people, they got everything right, and were attentive and polite. Everyone agreed the food was excellent and the portions generous. I plan to return often.

I’ve been going to Sonny Lees for 15 years. Sorry to say the food tonight was very disappointing. The chicken fried rice was dried out and the chicken pieces were like strips of leather. The sesame chicken was very dried out as well. Spent way too much money to be this disappointed. I’m sorry to see the quality has gone down so drastically.

Sonny Lee holds a special place in my heart, especially when they made a special accommodation for us a family occasion. The service is great, super friendly, and fast.

The best Chinese food in the area. I wish it was closer to midtown Baltimore. Been going here for years but not much since my parents, who lived nearby, passed away. We go whenever we're anywhere close.

After spending a lot of money at this place over the years, we have reluctantly stopped going. Increasingly, they cook many items either earlier in the day or the day before, and these are not good. When they cook stuff fresh, this is the best place in the area. But old food is old food. I'm not going to pay for old food!

Visited 2 times so far. Probably the friendliest restaurant staff we have ever encountered. The General Tsos and Kung Pao are the favorites entrees but the spicy cabbage is a must try.

The food is always hot and fresh and isn’t greasy like a lot of places are. The owners/staff are always very very friendly. This is my go to place for Chinese food. I drive 30+ mins because it’s that good! Their vegetable egg rolls are my FAVORITE! And the roasted pork fried rice is so good too!

My wife and I arrived at the restaurant(hostess desk) @8:10pm. The hostess asked us if we were picking up an order. We said no, we were here to order. The hostess immediately told us the we couldn’t be served because the kitchen was real busy! The CHEF that was at the hostess desk as well to the staff it would be just fine to serve us. The hostess insisted that we could not be served and told us I’m sorry thanks to coming! Needless to say that will be our last time going there.

This is definitely my favorite Chinese Restaurant in the area! I've really enjoyed the ambiance and service staff when we visited. The food was amazing! Can't wait to return.

Go just go... food was top tier portions are huge.. we got the general tso chicken, sizzling shrimp and my daughter got shrimp lo mein... the best general tso chicken I've ever had tender white meat not heavily breaded and crispy...service was also top tier all the staff were nice and checked on us multiple times all the staff not just our waitress. Review is in reference to an online order for plain chicken fried rice with specificallyno onions and no bean sprouts. Instead I received fried rice with onions and bean sprouts along with carrots and peas with chicken for a little over $15. Needless to say my kiddos weren't happy therefore 3 stars.

If I could give this place zero to negative stars I would. I order shrimp tempura, tuna roll, and soft shell crab roll on 7/5/2024 at 8:20pm. By 2:00am my husband and I were throwing up and had the runs. This is unacceptable!!! we had to go to patient first. I want a refund!!! And they will be hearing from my lawyer. Stay far away from this place if you don’t want to be vomiting uncontrollably and having the runs.

I have access to a number of Chinese food restaurants in Essex, Middle River, White Marsh, Dundalk, and Rosedale. But I will drive well out of my way to go to Sonny Lee's for Amazing service and quality food. Great portions, good price, and you can see and taste the care that is placed in the preparation of the meal. Whether I am dining in or ordering carry out, the food is never overcooked or undercooked as it is in many places. This is a place to add to your "Go To" list.

You have to get the Peking Duck table side sliced and artfully done. The service was as great as the food.

We went here for the first time and will definitely be back! Everything was so delicious. If you are vegetarian, I suggest that you ask for the dinner menu if you want to see even more options. We got crispy eggplant (with the sauce on the side), yuba with mixed vegetables, and scallion pancake wraps with string bean and tofu. This is the best Chinese in the Baltimore area. I actual leave the city to get carryout here. The quality, freshness, flavor and portions make it worth the drive. The dishes that are eggplant or include eggplant are my favorite! They use the smaller Chinese eggplants that are less mushy. Try it if you haven't! And ask for their home made chili oil!

A must! !!! If you want a Chinese food experience that is affordable, delicious, authentic, and leaving you looking forward to coming back for another round- Sonny Lee’s is the place for you! Greeted by friendly staff, we were seated in a cozy atmosphere and given delicious “Chinese crackers” with the house - made duck sauce ! (SO good!) We were then offered tea (another family- made item - it was jasmine tea) and enjoyed our choice of egg roll or soup that comes with a VERY affordable menu. After devouring the Sesame Chicken I ordered, I was left feeling perfectly content . We even had the owner - Sonny- come over and inquire how the meal was going (it was going perfect). I can not emphasize enough- if your looking for great Chinese food- this is your place!

I have been to Sonny Lee’s many, many times, but tonight was uninspired. Chicken in fried rice was dry, possibly cooked yesterday with hint of cigarette in the flavor. Pad Thai was unrecognizable. Lots of pasta, no seasoning, no peanuts, and two bits of unkown substance. We gotta find a new place, sad to see how inconsistent.

Definitely recommend coming here for the best sushi in town. Sonny is such a great guy and have a unique way of preparing a duck for consumption. Atmosphere has and always been peaceful so worth it especially for new visitors

Service was good. Food was tasty, but the tea was not. I was expecting oolong or another full-bodied brew. I got a yellow tail and salmon maki (roll). lt that was perfect. FYI - Tere are no desserts.

I enjoy their food but I think their prices are a little high.

Came in last night order shrimp fried rice and a small orange chicken. Realize the small orange chicken wasn't enough so I called in a large orange chicken with a side of broccoli. When I checked my order I realized they forgot my broccoli I told the young lady at the counter who then told the owner. The came back with my food and informed me they put the broccoli in the orange chicken but that's not what I ordered I told the the owner then she told me that a side of broccoli would have been $12, how when the orange chicken is only$13. The owner was very rude and I didn't feel like arguing that not but if I pay for something make the customer happy not excuses.

I ordered egg rolls & shrimp spring rolls from here and it was TRASH! There was absolutely no taste to it. I make better egg rolls and springs rolls than this place. A waste of money

I love this spot. The Peking duck is so delicious. I'm sad that they long serve the sorbet anymore due to COVID. It was a nice palate cleanse after a great meal.

I love their crispy Peking duck as long as I have enough Plum Sauce to cover it, however I ordered something different this time. I ordered the crispy salt and pepper shrimp. First I was confused that it had string beans in the dish. Second there was no evidence of salt nor pepper on the shrimp. I've had salt n pepper shrimp several times at other restaurants and it was nothing like this dish. Usually it flash fried shrimp covered in corse salt and plenty of pepper. This was just fried shrimp with no seasoning at all. I called the restaurant when I got home and discovered this and was told that is how they fix their salt n pepper shrimp. The shrimp was covered in a batter. I asked them where was the salt and pepper and they said it was cooked in the batter. Needless to say I had to add plenty of my own salt and pepper in order for it to have an ounce of flavor. Won't be ordering this dish again. Also, the lady who answered the phone was a little rude and short with me when I questioned the flavor. That turned me off.

I've ordered from here maybe a dozen times so far (so not that many), but every time it has met or exceeded my expectation. Hot and sour soup is very good, same with the lettuce wraps. This is the only place around that I order Chinese food from

I have been searching for good Chinese food/Lo Mein for 6 years!!!! This is it, I found it! The staff was super friendly, it was clean, and the food was so fresh and high quality. The meat was high quality, no weird chewy pieces or jacked up prices. I’m so sad I didn’t try this restaurant sooner. If you’re wanting good Chinese food, this is it, stop reading the reviews and go try it.

This place has to be one of the best Chinese restaurants in Baltimore city or county. Everything is an elevated version of what you get in typical Chinese restaurants. The Peking duck is to die for! The fried rice is loaded with delicious additions more than any other rice around. They make their own chili oil. Delicious!

Food was absolutely inedible. Instantly felt sick after eating a couple of bites . Do not eat here. I had the orange chicken (incredibly too sweet with no orange flavor and tasted like old grease) shrimp fried rice (it was just bland) shrimp lo me in(mushy noodles and shrimp). Just no. Update: I threw the food up and felt like I had to throw up for a week.

Sonny Lee's probably has the best Chinese food in town. I've been to a lot of sushi restaurants and Sonny's has the best according to my wife and I. Their sauces are great and the portion sizes are pretty big. You will get your moneys worth at Sonny's.

Although not real Chinese food, it's still more Chinese than most of the "Chinese" restaurants in the States. Get the Kung pow chicken, tell them to ease up on the peanuts and you will have something that closely resembles Chinese. For winter get mix veg soup. The quality is good.

Good food and friendly staff. We purchased the shrimp toast to go. Just a few people were dining in and out to go order came quickly. We ate it out in the car, it was still piping hot just a little too hot to take a big bite. This is the best time to eat it before it cools off. Got to laugh out of a customer who bought carryout but wanted to eat it at one of the tables inside. It's not allowed. I asked if I could take a nap on the floor while I waited for my food, that's not allowed either.

Best chinese/japanese food in the reisterstown area, after living here for 18 years and trying everything in the area this can't be beat, welcoming atmosphere, great service, great prices, simply a great dining experience each time.

I've recently moved here from Illinois and have been looking for a good Chinese-American place in the area. So far every place I try is so dang sweet. I ordered here thinking with how high rated it is the food would be better, but no. I got general tso chicken and the sauce is so sweet it would taste better on ice cream than chicken. I still gave the place two stars since they are at least preparing their meats in house. I think I've just been spoiled living in an area with a high Chinese population and didn't realize it. I may have to try drive out to Catonsville and hopefully find something decent there 😩

I get Chinese food a lot and I used to like this place, but not now. New chef? I got my favorite, the orange chicken, and it tasted good but the coating was extremally thick. It seemed to be mostly fat. I felt nauseous after dinner which is rare for me. My wife got the Hunan chicken and it was really bad. We threw out most of it which is also really rare for me. The chicken was tough and the dish was tasteless. The portion sizes were very good, but that just meant more to throw away. Maybe the fish or seafood would be a better choice here?

Can’t say enough about this restaurant. We came in twice this week. Excellent service and excellent food. Tuesday we had hot and sour soup, shrimp two colors and house lo mein. Then we saw a couple get a duck. Just wow! So we went back yesterday and got a duck. Wow wow wow!! This will be our go to meal. It’s byob but they have wine glasses.

It's been a while since I had such good Chinese. Flavors and portions were great. Remember to ask for hot mustard and chow mein noodles separately.

I don't think I will order meals here for pickup anymore or at all. The food I ordered was wrong. The shrimp fried rice I ordered was not spicy 😕 the beef in the beef and string beans was tough as shoe leather. Also when I entered the restaurant the vestibule reeked of someone smoking weed.Shocking.😳

Food was delicious and very reasonably priced, especially considering the large portions. Everything was tasty and the house fried rice, after adding a little extra soy sauce, was one of the best we’ve had. It was better than PF Chang’s. The restaurant was clean but dated. But they made up for the decor by having a friendly and attentive staff. This will be our new go-to for Chinese food 🥢.
