Loved eating out in the garden, great cocktails and delicious food

If you’re 6ft and taller and rich, these are your people. It’s expensive and that keeps the riff raff out. A bunch of tech execs and a staff that’s trying to be a class above. When will they learn you don’t teach in front of the guest to place silverware down. You started reaching behind me then switched and almost wiped my nose placing my new fork down. But the best was Kelly explaining that Ruinart is famous for its Chardonnay grapes and that’s what drives this rose wine. And then states it’s 55% Pinot Noir. Table settings were nice, but please clean the tree dandruff. And no there’s no misters, so summer early evenings will be warm.

We visited Palm Springs for the weekend and visited several of the high end dining spots.The atmosphere here was the best thing about it. However, the food was the most disappointing. We spent the most here for diner, without drinks and liked the food the least.

The setting is gorgeous, very moody and romantic. The food was delicious and our server, Rachel, was very friendly and professional and even gave us a little tour of the attached hotel.

As others have mentioned (& I should have heeded their warning) while Sop.pa is a lovely outdoor restaurant the condescending attitude that permeates the staff is baffling and makes for a very unpleasant experience. So many other reviews on here have mentioned that, one might think management would take notice and perhaps do some training - especially for the prices they charge. The manager made it clear from the minute we checked in that the restaurant was designed for hotel guests and we were lucky to be eating there (even warned us not to disturb the other guests). What a way to start a meal, so awkward. Our server was quite friendly, but we found each of the dishes to be very average. The fish was overcooked, the roasted chicken was dry and the basque cheesecake far too sweet. We have no problem paying high prices for good food and service - but nothing delivered here. Why don’t they open the restaurant to hotel guests only? And if they opt to open to the general public, then don’t treat your guests like a nuisance. We’re very experienced in fine dining and have found if anything the service is much warmer and hospitable the nicer the restaurant. So.pa is in desperate need of a change. For the money, I’d eat at Workshop instead

The So,Pa is an upscale restaurant nested in the L'Horizon Resort on Palm Canyon Drive in Palm Springs. It is a gorgeous, adult-only, all day facility that provides a unique alfresco dining experience with sleek firepits and groovy outdoor furnishings.... ......it is a magical place. The menu is eclectic, with Middle East touches and sports delicacies such as: Yellow Tail Carpaccio, Whole Rainbow Trout, Boneless Pork Ribs and more.........but I reached for the Pan-Seared Bass.......yummy yummy in the tummy. Lovely restaurant with fantastic service. Try the tomato salad. I had the stuffed rainbow trout. My husband had the sea bass. I usually do not order fish because I'm so fussy about it, but the waiter raved when he recommended that dish, and he was right - delicious! Refreshing cocktails, nice wine list. Beautiful, intimate setting. Polite, professional, attentive staff. We had a perfect evening!

Where to begin with this place? Sure, it's nice to look at but I dpnt choose a place to go for that reason the food is probably better at Elmer's, the staff spent more time talking to a group of women than actually doing their job, it is crazy to think you spend that kind of money for good food and service you don't get and they still expect a good tip? I'll find something better down the road.

On Christmas day my wife and I booked a table at So.Pa for dinner. Upon arrival the hostess desk was unmanned, and the restaurant manager appeared stressed and tending to tables. After a perfunctory welcome he took us straight to the darkest most remote table at the back of the restaurant even though the restaurant was half empty and there was plenty of space available around the cosier fire pit. We wondered why he took us to the worst table - was it because we had booked via Open Table? He ignored our question. We asked him if we could have a more central table closer to the fire pit. He insisted the restaurant was full, even as we pointed out all the empty tables. This appeared to antagonise him. (A check on Open Table showed there were tables available for the rest of the evening). He reluctantly showed us another unattractive table, but by then his body language was adversarial and clearly signalling that he wanted to get rid of us. When we asked to be closer to the fire pit he told us it was that table or we were welcome to leave. When my wife asked why he seemed so ill disposed towards us he gave us a strange response with a sarcastic smile: "My name is Kelly, feel free to complain if you like, I have been here for 5 years". It seems in Kelly's world Kelly is king and guests had better not be too demanding. It also seems Kelly does not expect being challenged by his management, let alone by a pesky ungrateful guest. The atmosphere by then was so frosty that we felt we had no option but to leave and go to bed on an empty stomach. Not exactly what we had in mind for Christmas. All in all, a rather unpleasant experience with a maître d' whose charm and take on hospitality are perhaps better suited to the penitentiary administration.

I don't understand the bad reviews here. Yes it's pricey but welcome to the world of fine dining. All our dishes were excellent. Highest quality products and tasty too. The service was equally excellent. Our server Colton was on top of everything. The manager Kelly was also very attentive. If you're looking for an wonderful dining experience, this is your place

All of the other reviews are completely accurate. The price is just not worth it. Party of 2. Atmosphere is nice but the staff were not friendly or accommodating. No one checked in on us once to see how the food was or if we wanted to order another drink, it was always us flagging someone down. The food was very overpriced for what it was worth. Simply not worth the time or expense.

Good ambience, good service but food was a bit disappointing.

Loved the atmosphere! Lovely lighting and ambience. Service was “good”, nice waiter but a little more attention would be better in a “nicer” restaurant such as this. Expected a bit more….Felt menu was limited in selection for mid-range priced meals. I ordered the ribs, which were not impressive at all, dry and tough, so was disappointed. I may try it again, but won’t be my first choice!

This is the spot if you want to be in a cozy and gorgeous atmosphere in Palm Springs for dinner, but other than that, the food is here is just mediocre.

Limited menu, 50 buck chicken (which was tasteless), salad was bland as I've ever had. Great setting, romantic ambiance, very fine service. But the worst meal I have had in Palm Springs in the past 6 months (and we dine out 100 x year). Only thing more expensive than the chicken was the trout, and the caviar....glad we didn't venture there. Don't bother with this place.

The space is beautiful but no one will care about you... The vibe was right, the menu is interesting but unfortunately no one cares about the guest experience. We arrived seven minutes early for our reservation and despite several staffers making eye contact with us we weren't acknowledge inside until fourteen minutes after our reservation. We understand that the staff are busy, working hard and things come up. Unfortunately the attitude of carelessness persisted. We had a cocktail and several appetizers but the overall vibe was heavy and that we weren't welcomed. We had planned for dinner but felt more comfortable dining elsewhere. Super bummed since this was a beautiful location near by.

Oh my gosh, everything about this experience was perfection! The garden dining is wonderful, the service impeccable and the food was everything we hoped! I highly recommend.

I am a local in Palm Springs and I absolutely love our city. I booked a reservation for nine people for my daughter‘s 18th birthday at the restaurant. I called to confirm the reservation a week before and add one more guest. Everything was fine. Since this was her special 18th birthday and we had guests from out of town I called the night before to confirm once more that they Had the right number confirmed. At that time the girl on the phone told me it’s a 21 and over restaurant. Being busy season in the desert I panicked with the birthday the next day. She had me talk to her manager and he told me the restaurant was fine for 18 and over only the hotel was for 21 & over. At that time he informed me there would be a $75 charge per guest since it was over eight guests. The next morning I thought again about it and called the restaurant and told them I had to cancel the order I wasn’t going to force all the girls to stuff their faces just to meet the $75 quota. The girl was very helpful and said thank you I will cancel your reservation I also asked her to make sure I wouldn’t be charged a cancellation fee. Just finding out the night before about the price. She said she didn’t think there would be one she would let me know if there’s a problem. Our reservation for the girls was at 6 o’clock at 3:40 I had a voicemail from the manager saying he got my message and to call him back if I needed any more help with that reservation. I called back immediately and told the girl at the front desk that I had canceled the reservation earlier in the day. She said just one moment and put me on hold for about 20 minutes I couldn’t hold any longer so I hung up went to the website and emailed the restaurant stating I had already canceled I can’t get through to the hotel to return his call.. The manager called me at 6:30 and was so very rude I have never had anyone in the service industry talk to me like this. He said I did not cancel my reservation and asked someone next to him if I canceled and came back on the phone and said I did not cancel I said are you calling me a liar and he said no he stating the facts he was so very unprofessional and rude I was horrified.. trying to plan a special day for my 18-year-old and having to deal with this kind of unprofessionalism was terrible.. I had the feeling they charged $75 per person just because they were not gonna be drinking I felt like we were being ripped off.. and then not being able to get through to the restaurant was ridiculous yet they blamed me for that. He also told me I did not send an email.. I just couldn’t believe it I was so upset.. It was upsetting enough I had to find a new restaurant to host our party with Nine Girls because of their unprofessionalism handling reservations. They are absolute snobs at this place I would not recommend it. You have so many beautiful amazing restaurants in this desert pick anyone but this no reason to ever treat a guest like this and call them a liar.. also I would’ve never canceled if they didn’t add that terrible $75 charge per person. I did the right thing and I canceled I made this reservation two weeks ago and the night before they told me the $75 per person charge.. if one of my guests wanted to order a salad that wouldn’t of been enough. I don’t know what’s wrong with the world how people treat others so rudely. Our city used to be such a wonderful peaceful place we don’t need businesses like this.

The atmosphere of this outdoor location was very enjoyable and the service extraordinary. Although the menu items sounded unique and adventurous, the execution was just average. Lamb croquettes were tender and flavourful but accompanied by starchy sides that had no real pop.

Excellent evening dinner of fillet of beef, perfectly cooked. I’d have preferred to not have to had creamed potatoes. Fries goes better, but the beef was cooked fantastically. Pudding of Pavlova with spiced fruit was delightful. Service was generally good although the waiter seemed new and didn’t understand what dairy/lactose intolerances actually means. Reserved a table for Valentine’s Day and had terrible service. It took a very long time to get the food and drinks. When the food arrived it was cold. We had to ask about our food and drinks multiple times and although they apologized, they really were not very interested in resolving anything. This was an expensive dinner and was not worth it at all. Overall we were there almost 3 hours and it was because we were waiting for our food and servers. This place has serious issues and needs new management.

I can't say enough about how amazing SO PA is! I planned a team dinner of 19 ppl there recently and Kelly was amazing to work with. The ambiance was truly breathtaking, the service perfection and the food AMAZING. Thank you to the staff and Kelly for giving us such a wonderful experience!

We had dinner at SOPA our 1st nite ....it had been a long day and we were exhausted. Despite it being fairly late on New Years day and the restaurants being abit understaffed due to the holiday and a busy New Years eve the nite before ....they went out of their way to be helpful and accommodating. The food was truly 5 STAR!!

We hadden keurig gereserveerd maar moesten eerst al 5 min wachten voordat we überhaupt te woord werden bestaan en toen nog eens 15 minuten alvorens we een tafel kregen. Pal naast open vuur waardoor je aan één zijde heel warm werd en aan de andere koud (je zit buiten!). Alles duurde heel erg lang waardoor we uiteindelijk afzagen van een dessert omdat we niet nóg eens een uur wilden wachten. De keuken bleek heel erg goed en verfijnd en we hebben heerlijk gegeten maar omdat alles zo enorm lang duurde scoren ze uiteindelijk vrij laag. Niet dat de bediening niet zijn best deed. Integendeel maar één persoon was simpelweg te weinig voor het hele restaurant en voor de prijzen die ze vragen zouden ze zich toch zeker extra bediening moeten kunnen veroorloven.

So.Pa Do not come here. Waited 2.5 hours for food. We had a reservation for 6 at 7:30 PM and we’re seated in an almost empty restaurant (great ambiance tho) after being told they had to check on our table despite no one being seated. Upon sitting, we waited for water and put our cocktail order in and waited a solid 20 minutes for a drink. Following this, we were told that “deliveries are hard on sundays” and therefore were out of a lot of the menu. We put in our orders and proceeded to wait for 45 minutes for apps that were cold and all around bad. We decided to do the pre fixe menu, but we’re never given the whole menu. Following apps, we waited over an hour for our food. We were given our food after we asked two separate waiters where our food was. The first time we asked for our food the waitress simply said “everything is going to plan” and dismissed anything that was said. The second time they said “the ticket was in” and walked away. Not once were we given an apology or a bit of empathy for waiting over an hour for any type of food. While waiting, three separate families got up and left due to not being served. Upon receiving food at 9:40PM it was cold and we asked for the check right away and waited another 10 minutes for the check. We were given less than 5% off of the entire meal for 6 people. Upon leaving, we told the hotel staff so that they were aware and nothing was done and no compensation was given. The whole night was comical overall but have never experienced such terrible service and all around bad food with little empathy.

The restaurant staff worked with our daughter and friends from Seattle to plan a surprise evening for us. We could not have asked for more delicious food and more attentive service than given us by Colby. Kelly, Director of Food and Beverage, stopped by our table more than once to be sure the surprise was going as planned. From the burrata appetizer to the mushroom risotto with truffles the food was perfectly prepared and explained in detail by Colby. This was a rare and memorable experience, and the ambience of the outdoor seating only added to a most wonderful evening.

A beautiful place to enjoy dinner and cocktails whilst visiting Palm Springs. My two friends and I shared three starters and two mains between us which was plenty. Highlights were the duck main and the labneh starter. I wasn't sure on the crab starter - the temperature of the dish seemed too cold. Attentive service and nice atmosphere.

A bit disappointed. Went for Restaurant Week expecting something special. The Hamachi Crudo (top left) was tasty but why hide the best part i.e., the Hamachi, under a fennel "cloud" as they described it. The Pork Chop (rt pic) was very dry when you cut into it. The sauces only help a little bit. Finally, the Mousse desert (btm left) was very hard almost like ice cream. Mousse is supposed to be light and airy but you had to cut through this one.
