I recently revisited here with friends, an absolute gem of a restaurant. Our server was attentive and genuine, we chatted about the Sorrento's remodels over the years, she's seen it all! We had the stuffed mushrooms and Zucchini Fritti for apps; both perfectly flavorful and well-seasoned, the zucchini crisp and fresh-tasting. My Chicken Marsala was cooked to perfection, the chicken tender and moist, the sauce savory and rich. My friends' Chicken Parmigiana and Scampi de la Casa were excellent as well. The garlic bread: soft, fluffy, perfectly seasoned with a gentle chew that we couldn't stop eating. Every bite of every dish was a delight. Sorrento's has truly mastered the art of Italian cuisine, highly recommended for anyone wanting a satisfying meal and experience!

Great for a slightly fancier date or good for a family outing. They have great food and service but if you don't have a reservation expect a bit of a wait time.

We were in Anchorage 6 years ago and went to Sorrento's and the food was crazy good so when we were here again we had to go there. They did not disappoint, the food once again was fantastic.

This place is seriously underrated! The food, service, and just the place itself is amazing. All the food tastes so fresh and the chocolates they give you after is so refreshing.

We happened upon Sorrento's our first night in Anchorage. They were incredibly busy, so we took that as a good sign! Definitely worth the time to get a table! The food was phenomenal - and I must admit - during our 11 days in Anchorage, we ate here 3 times! We enjoyed the bruschetta, pasta, pizza and seafood. You can't go wrong here! We had 3 different wait staff and each one was pleasant and efficient! They have additional staff that keep your water filled and dirty dishes removed from your table, but they're very unobtrusive. The atmosphere is nice - tables are spread out enough that it wasn't loud, even when they were at their busiest, so it was easy to enjoy a nice dinner! Highly recommend!!

Don't be fooled by the appearance -- This place looks rundown from the outside, but it's quite upscale and cozy on the inside! I ordered Halibut Almondine and it was delicious! The lobster cream-mushroom sauce was out of this world! The waitresses were friendly and polite, and the overall ambience was quite pleasant. Great place for a romantic date!

Our waiter is very nice. The price of food is reasonable. The Halibut that we have is so delicious 😋. The sauce of seafood pasta is yummy. There is lobster in the pasta.

When I lived in Alaska, Sorrentos was my favorite restaurant. I made a return visit to Alaska after eight years being gone, and Sorrentos is still my favorite restaurant in Alaska! It hasn’t changed one bit. The Scampi De la Casa is still the most delicious meal. The service was amazing. If I had my choice, I would’ve eaten there every single night during my visit.

The food was delicious, and Debbie, the waitress, was very attentative and accomadating. I have to say when you 1st walk in the place smelled fishy. The reviews were great, so we stayed, and we're glad we did!

We have been here multiple times. Service is normally spot on - a busy place - and may not always be staffed accordingly. Their marinara sauce is delicious. Salads are fresh, bread is yummy. The last visit I had Fettucini Arrabbiata- good and spicy! Sopped all that sauce up with their wonderful garlic bread. My hubby got lasagna, side of spaghetti, and a side of ravioli. He did not care for the ravioli but loved everything else. We had enough leftover for the next nights dinner! We highly recommend!

Very good Italian. Got the the Taste of Sorrento and it was very good. The Cesar salad was very fresh. Ordered an order of bread sticks and they were very tasty. The Alfredo sauce was very fresh and good.

The Halibut Fantasia Marina is one of the best things I've ever eaten! Thank you for a meal.

We had an absolute amazing dinner tonight & as always Hailee was amazing. She always brings what ya need b4 you even know ya need it. She remembers ur orders each time u return and is always smiling. Food came so fast tonight and was so good.

Great place for a nice visit with friends or celebrating a special event for two! Food is amazing and the service is superb!

Our server Jimmy was great. He was attentive, understanding and resourceful. He wasn't quite sure how prevalant the lemon would be in the chicken in the sample I had, but related he thought it was pretty mild. I don't really care for citrus on meat but decided to go with Jimmy's recommendation. Score! The chicken was beyond fantastic. I am a bit of a "redneck foodie" (I like well prepared unpretentious food), and I don't enjoy when one strong ingredient isn't balanced. The chicken was amazing. You have to indulge - you just do. I had the sampler. It also included linguini alfredo. The sauce was delightful - unadulterated, simple, elegant and delucious. The sampler also had lasgna my reason for four stars on the food. It was served at I would guess about 90 degrees, maybe a little less. It certainly has the potential of being at the same level as the chicken and the pasta, but an error in the kitchen didn't allow it to achieve its full wonderfulness in my single experience there. My son had the veal parmesean. He talked about it for two days. It is a comfort food for him and it was so well prepared that he reminicesed about his childhood and enjoying that dish back in Detroit. My house in the lower 48 is between Portland and Seattle. I rarely go for Italian there because "the best place to eat in Portland is my house". I didn't think anyone make Italian much west of Chicago. Now, I know better. Anchorage is a couple hours for me when I'm in Alaska, but if i I'm feeling a little lazy but "the consigliere" is hungry or has to feed the crew, I know how to get that job done in Anchorage. Oh, and the cold lasgna? Jimmy and I worked it out that a small pizza for later would make it right. He brought a large when dropped off tge check. It's that kind a place. Do yourself a favor and go to Sorrento's. You sure as hell ain't gonna regret it.

Doordash sent completely wrong food on a $50 order which was ice cold. They offered a $7 refund. Canceled doordash and won't order here again. Restaurants and delivery apps stealing $43 from me is unacceptable. I will go other places from now on

It’s been quite a few years since I’ve been here. I don’t know why. The mozzarella appetizer was the best I’ve ever had. Main courses were simple and delicious. Definitely will be coming more often. Great Italian!

Loved this place as a kid. But going back was a big nope. The food wasn't good at all. The waitress got my order wrong completely. She did offer to put my husband's food to the side while they cooked my original order. But I didn't want to wait and took what she put in. She also charged me the price of the meal that she got wrong even though what I ordered was cheaper. She did give us a free desert. But it wasn't good at all. Overall, I just wasn't a fan. I won't be going back. Also, I didn't like all the mirrors.

I decided to try Sorrento’s based on the Google reviews I read. As a guy who grew up eating Nonna and Nonno’s cooking, Italians who came to NY from Napoli in the 1950s, I like to think I have an idea of how Italian food should taste. I accept I may have some bias, because no one cooks like your Nonna did. My friends and I arrived at the restaurant on a Saturday evening and asked for a table for four. I considered this in advance and thought to call ahead a few hours for a reservation, but I was told over the phone that this place is “first come first serve”. Fair enough, we show up at 7:30 and the place is packed, usually a good sign. They take the name of our party and we begin to wait. We weren’t given a wait time or anything and so we stood around for a while until one of us finally asked after about 15 minutes what the wait time would be. We were told it’s going to be 20 minutes. We sit down at the counter at the front and 45 minutes go by before we finally get seated at a table. By this time most of the restaurant is beginning to clear out, and so we thought ey no problem we’ll be eating in no time. We place our orders and it took another 35-40 minutes to actually get some food to the table. 8:55~9:00 the apps start getting to the table. We got a couple orders of Bruschetta, some soup, and some salads. I was surprised the bruschetta was served with feta on it instead of mozarella, a strange choice, but maybe I should’ve read the menu a little better. I’ve never eaten bruschetta that didn’t have mozarella. The minestrone soup was okay nothing to rave about really, but I wish they would’ve had some pasta e fagoli. I ordered the veal parmesan for my main course which came out a while later after the apps, and marone there was a handful of spaghetti noodles with a few tablespoons of sauce. The veal parmesan on the plate was decent but the sauce and spaghetti were a bit of a let down, both in portion and quality for the price. The sauce lacked depth and character and the portion of noodles was meant for a child. I could’ve simply ordered the wrong item from the menu who knows their specialty, but I wanted something classic. These entrees are to come with garlic bread per the menu and that didn’t show up until we were half way through the main course, nonetheless it was squishy, mild, and fairly flavorless. With the lack of sauce on the plate there wasn’t much point in eating save for the fact that we were all ravenous by the time we had gotten our food. I wanted to order dessert but by this time it was close to 9:30pm and I didn’t want to wait for the place to close to have a piece of Tiramisu. I understand Alaska pricing must meet the cost of supply and everyone has a living to make, but $27-28 dollars for the entree alone was egregious for such a portion. The food was of an Italian style but really lacked that authentic feel that was raved about in other reviews. I could be spoiled by my upbringing or the fact that Italian food is so well done on the East Coast. It’s not the worst Italian food I’ve had, but for the price, portions, quality, and service I won’t be coming back. I had high hopes for this place.

We had a really nice time at this restaurant. It was a busy evening but the wait was very short, only a few minutes, and the staff were communicative with us as soon as we came in. The wait staff were attentive and made sure we had enough water etc. throughout the meal. There were many menu options that sounded delicious and we were very happy with dinner.

Family chose this place after a show downtown, not in the mood for Italian food… but uhhhh blown away! Tried their Halibut, Steak, Cheese Pizza, Salad, Spaghetti and even the mozzarella sticks(tried a little bit everyone’s dish) and was impressed with every single item. The customer service was on point. There was a wait but I now get why. Oh my goodness it was delicious. I will be going back!

We got to sit immediately with kindness and amazing service. One of my dinner companions had an Icy Bay IPA beer. The beer tasted like it came from a clean tap, it's a fantastic IPA, he got it in a minute after ordering it, and he would recommend it. My other dinner companion had stuffed mushrooms. She said the sauce was out of this world, well seasoned, hot, smells amazing, and got here in less than 10 minutes. We all got salads and everything ran smoothly till one of my dinner companions found a hair in the food. The bathrooms were clean and fancy. Would have a bowel movement again since the seats were very clean and very warm (Either could have been heated or it was the last person) All of the food we ordered was heated to perfection and the cheese on it was just heaven on earth. We all recommend this restaurant.

Can’t recommend Sorrento’s highly enough! A family-owned classic Italian gem in the heart of Anchorage. Wonderfully rich food, kind and attentive staff, and inviting atmosphere. One of our favorite dinner spots to gather as a family and celebrate special occasions.

Great food, atmosphere, and service

Have been going here for 40 years. They changed ownership a decade or so ago and the food quality suffered but most of the old owners and some of the original staff have been back for years. I believe they bought their resturant back from the folks who were not making a good go at it.

Update Review: I got off work and decided to spoil myself and went here again to try some new things. First time in years since I ate a full 3 course meal this large, which is a testament to their food! Appetizer: I had myself once again the Escargo Champignon, very delicious and hot in the first couple bites. Buttery garlic and the mushroom with snail fitted in was a wonderful juicy treat to have a spoonful of! Escargot dishes of various have always been my favorite when it comes to snacks or appetizers, and it paired wonderfully with the glass of Schooler Nolan Merlot. Rich fruity sweet full-bodied wine. Entree: I got myself the Four Cheese Penne al Forno as the main course. It was really cheesy for sure and delicious with different textures and flavors in the mix, but you could tell the distinct differences in every bite. It went really well with the Kendall Jackson Merlot this time. A much more tannins type wine that complimented the meal. In all honesty, I could've switched the wine choices with each other for the appetizer and entree for a much more balanced pairing. Dessert: I decided to treat myself with the Turtle Cheesecakes paired with Riunite Lambrusco wine. It did not disappoint at all, especially since I first wanted Port wine but they were out of it for a while so I was reccomend this alternative. Nice little chilled, fizzy, sweet, and tangy-ish wine with such a sweet, creamy, velvety cheesecake with some fudge layer, caramel top, and the pecan at the last bites was a bonus! Over my previous review, this is still a must go to Italian restaurant. My waiter was amazing of the wonderful service provided, inviting atmosphere even when solo dining, and a peaceful fulfilling dinner. Old Review: Wonderful place with delicious Italian cuisine! Fast seating with short wait if you have 4 people or less during packed days. If you're ever curious, I'd recommend the Escargot. It's an odd dish for most people, but I'm one of those who eats various escargot dishes, and they are delicious. If you do have a party of 5+, then you'll have to wait a lot longer since this isn't a large restaurant and very few large group tables available, mostly booths available.

The food was really good! My partner thought it was the best Italian food in Anchorage so far and we've tried a few places. It's a little dark inside and it took a few minutes for the food to come out, but overall the staff were friendly and the food was tasty!

Sorrento's is a long-time favorite of Anchorage diners. I always order the lasagna, but I've also had many of their other dishes. You can't really go wrong! Friendly staff. Generous servings. Always a reliable, quality choice!

The customer service, and the food was exactly exactly Italian excellent

Italian American restaurant more on the American side. It was more like American diner food in a nice atmosphere. I have to be completely honest and let you guys know I didn't like the wine, I didn't like the appetizers, I didn't like the entrees and I didn't like the dessert...Calamari was too greasy. The stuffed mushrooms were too salty. I don't remember the name of the grilled chicken dish my boyfriend ordered but when he got it, it was very greasy. And it's supposed to be grilled chicken! And they overcook the pasta. Those spaghetti noodles were way past al dente! I ordered the chicken piccata and hell no!! I have to say that my man is from Italy and his chicken piccata is amazing. There is a restaurant in town that I do love their chicken piccata as well, but at Sorrento's there is so much artificial flavor in some of their stuff. I think instead of chicken broth they must have used a bullion cube. And everything was too salty! Also the waitress originally messed up my order and I wanted a side of vegetables instead of pasta with my piccata. And just to try everything we ordered a dessert and I ordered tiramisu and it came to the table partially frozen!!! If you're looking for Italian food don't go there cuz it's not authentic. Having an Italian boyfriend he joked that I'm spoiled because I get real Italian food from him. But it was more than that. The quality was lacking. My boyfriend could have gotten that over cooked spaghetti from Denny's! Oh last thing what I didn't like either was how many DoorDash people kept coming in the waiting area. It was already packed with people waiting to get in so obviously a lot of locals like the place. And it was a weekend so that's another reason why it was busy. But when one of the door dash drivers came in wearing pajamas it just kind of brought the vibe of the restaurant down.

Great authentic Italian spot. Good portions and very rich, authentic flavors. Come to this one hungry and leave feeling like you ate two bricks if you go for the pasta. Staff was friendly and efficient.

My boyfriend and I went here for our anniversary and the food that we did get was delicious like I’ve been eating Alfredo noodles for decades, and I’ve fallen in love with their pasta ❤️♥️ the waitress was so polite, but she seemed a little frazzled and busy. She forgot to give us our salads which we were OK with, and said, just bag it at the end. Now the serving size of the pasta was more than I could eat in one sitting and they bag up your food for you you don’t. Later that night, I turned the oven on and get ready to heat up my pasta that I can’t wait to finish it…. Guess what else the waitress forgot my pasta my boyfriend got his steak. We definitely got salads that she had originally forgotten but I was really saddened and I know we’re just talking about food but that’s what the point of these reviews are so I’m still giving them five stars because that means fear and the food was everything. I really want to go back but BF’s still upset about the service.

Veal parmesan, lasagna, taste of Sorrento, mozzarella sticks, and stuffed mushrooms were absolutely delicious. Visited twice during our 8 day visit to Anchorage. Spumoni was the perfect ending to our meal.

This was the best place we ate on our recent trip to Anchorage. We tried several different restaurants and this one stands out on top. The food and service were excellent. If we come back to Anchorage, we'll definitely be dining here again.

wow! 5 stars all the way around. service from the entire staff was excellent. they were super friendly, welcoming, and charming. the ambiance was lovely. the food was superb. we had stuffed mushrooms, minestrone soup, greek salad, seafood alfredo, and a stuffed halibut. plus shared a bottle of excellent red j lohr cab. this was an incredible experience. we highly recommend Sorrento's.

The place is small, not a lot of tables, we had to wait 30 mins for a table, parking is limited due to the small parking lot, food was good even though some of the portions were kind of small especially for the prices, the server that seated us was rude, didnt seem like she wanted to be there and it showed in her attitude, overall it was a good experience just not sure if i will go back due to the servers attitude and the long wait time on a thursday night for a table.

Last minute stop for dinner, had no problem seating us even though was 30min until close. Great food and reasonable prices. Very friendly service. All four of us enjoyed our meals. No complaints at all.

The food is way too fatty and rich and the presentation is unappetizing. I can't see the Italian for the Greek interpretation. The menu emphasizes sauces galore but no "clean" food that can stand alone. Sorry, I pass on eating here again.

Best fettuccine alfredo I've ever had. I wanted to lick the plate!!!!

The service was excellent, but the food lacked alot of flavor. Don't be afraid to use Italian spices such as oregano in your spagetti sauce. The stuffed mushrooms need not be cooked so much. The stuffing in the mushrooms seemed mushy. Gotta get some seasoning in there. When you serve bread. try a infused extra virgin olive oil with garlic. Maybe garlic aioli. Just a little help.

I brought a close friend to dine in one of my favorite places to eat in Anchorage,, Sorrento's restaurant. My friend, who is a high ranking royal family member (next in line) really enjoyed your all cheese fettuccine. In fact, he liked it so much that he said he would be eating the leftovers tomorrow for lunch (and he detestes leftovers). Sorrento's has the royal approval...

I tried the spicy halibut and sadly it was somewhat dry. The spices were good though. Service was good too.

This place was absolutely amazing! The service was attentive without being overbearing. Everyone from the hostess who greeted us, our waitress, and even the busboy was extremely friendly. Our waitress, Gwenn, was polite and fun. The Escargot Champignon was super flavorful, and the snails were cooked perfectly. I had the Taste of Sorrento, and each of the dishes was expertly cooked. I especially liked the Chicken a la Sorrento. My wife had the Fettuccine di Mare with the Arrabbiata sauce. The paste was cooked perfectly, and rarely have we enjoyed seafood cooked so well. The Greek salad and Minestrone soup were both excellent additions to the meal. We ended with some classic Tiramisu. We both loved our experience and look forward to exploring the rest of the menu at Sorrento's!

Food was the best Italian I found so far in Anchorage. I love the mushroom appetizer, which is a very authentic flavor. Could use booth updating cushions flat and hard.

Great food especially the main items. We bought take out yesterday and most of it was great. Only complaint would be the bread and salad. Bread was hard and tough. I believe it had been microwaved to heat it up. Salad was lightly brown and watery like it wasn’t drained after washing the lettuce. Will still order but I believe they give better quality if you eat there instead of take out.

Perfectly pleasant Italian fare. Good for kids. I wouldn't encourage ordering the halibut dishes.

When we got home and noticed we were missing the main protein, to my husband's dish, we notified the restaurant and went back to pick that up. Prices for the dishes were a bit hefty to shrug off, hence a 2nd pickup. But their food was delicious and worth it. I had the shrimp scampi and my husband had the chicken picatta. Parking lot was full and busy.

So good, I can't wait to eat here again.

I'm a foodie and it was pretty decent. The Taziki sauce was probably the best I've ever had. Had a calzone it was a little too cheesy for my likes and could of used a bit more mushrooms and meat but the dough was perfect. Salad was very fresh and had excellent vinegarette dressing. I'm impressed. Excited to try their pasta options. I will certainly try them again. Recommend. Delivered fast hot and solid flavor profiles.

Very special night with my brother as he flew up to see us here in Anchorage. The food was great. Busy there so servers were everywhere and would of got a 5 star but just needed to pay more attention to their area of people.
