I love South Depot they always give you enough to eat twice. The food is always delicious

Simply amazing place for a quality meal that is fair priced, good serving size and served quick with a smile. This is a great place for a quick meal and has an inviting dining room you can stay to eat in at your pace.

I was a little surprised, due to all the good reviews of this place, at my experience here. There was no greeter and no signage to direct one to the pickup counter. This is definitely not a deal breaker, just something I noted. I made my way to the back counter and was not greeted by any employee nor told to have a nice day etc. Wait staff need to have manners for all patrons, especially those who leave a 22% tipon a pickup order! The fish taco might have been decent,as the slaw portion was actually quite good, however, the fish tasted like someone pulled it out of a fridge from yesterday, and didn't bother to reheat it. It was actually cold. The soft tortilla was also cool and mildly stale. The pork taco was bland and cool. There was no reason for my order to be cold, as I picked it up promptly after receiving notification it was ready. Possibly, they were just short staffed or having an off day, but from my experience, there are far better places for food in Oxford. Perhaps the dine in, build-your-own option makes for a better experience at this establishment. I will not be finding out.

Best burrito I've ever had. The portion size is huge! Great variety of ingredients, everything always tastes fresh, and the staff is always so friendly and fast. My fiance and I regularly drive an hour from Tupelo specifically to come here. I cannot recommend it enough.

This was the best burrito I’ve had! The chips are perfect too. Salsa very fresh. I hate to compare this place to chipotle because it’s so much better in every way.

A favourite lunch spot for an almost extra-urban, quick drive from Memphis, so we go there frequently. South Depot Taco has a great selection for built-to-your-spec menu items. I had the fish tacos on the last visit... They were great! Keep circulating as you search for an open parking spot--it'll appear. Don't worry about change; the meters take credit cards or pay by app. Easy.

I was craving nachos a few days ago, so I decided to try South Depot! The food, atmosphere, and employees were fantastic. Everyone seemed to have great attitudes and were so friendly. The service was quick, and I love that they have any topping you would want to add! I will definitely be back!!

just left here and the guy who’s on the meat(curly hair, glasses, braces) literally slobbered in a woman’s bowl and tried to wipe his mouth before it dropped so she wouldn’t see. he kept fixing her bowl as if nothing happened and also didn’t change his gloves after wiping. this is completely unacceptable and very disgusting.

I don’t know who seasoned the chips today, but they were amazing! Thanks for dinner!

Placed a lunch order for myself and a few of my co-workers at the suggestion of a friend. Having eaten there previously, I knew the food was absolutely delicious. Mid lunch one of my co-workers starts gagging and we notice there is a long hair hanging from her mouth, Needless to say that ruined everyone's lunch. I know it could happen to anyone. Hairnets are not 100% proof, I get it. When I called in to make a complaint, the manager was absolutely non-chalant. He's response was "OK" and then dead silence. I expected a little more concern from the establishment. Five lunches were ruined, and to me it appeared that he was perfectly ok with that. At least express some concern. I know you have to deal with people constantly trying to get a free meal, but it cost you nothing to take responsibility and apologize for the inconvenience. :(

Food is delicious! The staffing is very friendly and helpful I tried Chipotle once never went back I eat at South Depot at least 2 or 3 times a week to eat and its a 35 mile drive but its well worth it! Everything's is clean and the atmosphere Omg!! GREAT!!

Hard to beat their delicious AND fresh “fast” food! The Burrito bowl, queso and tacos were sooo good. Their delicious chips were light and crispy. And, the restaurant was very clean, too. Next visit we will try their margaritas!

The meat was cold and my tacos did not hold together because of all the juice from the meat. It's a shame bc South Depot was one of my favs in undergrad.

I think I want to like the idea of this place more than I actually like the reality of it. I've been here several times over the last few years and the people I come with are always excited about it. To me, it's like a locally owned (I think) Chipotle or Moe's. It's a burrito... let's not act like it's a lifestyle. Their meats are generally pretty good along with most everything else, but there's nothing that really sets it apart. Booya's has their own little idiosyncrasies that make it special, but south depot is just another overstuffed burrito. The last visit, I tried the tilapia on my burrito and it was really not good. Texture and flavor were like it had been left in a warmer overnight and the only reason it was edible was that it was carried by the rest of the ingredients. The guy who put it together even gave it a sad look before piling it on with a tiny pile of beans and rice. If I'm in Oxford, I'll pick BBB, Volta or Neon Pig just to let you know my general taste. South depot isn't really my style so much and after this last visit, I'll try not to go back. It's fading into mediocrity and I can't say I'm upset about it.

Great place. "Chipotle" vibes but doke by a local shop. Busy but quick service, good food, plenty of indoor seating, and they offer an outdoor patio. The staff was friendly and food taatsed good. The inside of the restaurant was clean and welcoming. No complaints, would go back

The best chips and queso in the game hands down. Prices are relatively cheap compared to Chipotle and the food is generally better. Steak is sometimes too cooked for me but for $8.99 plus tax one shall not complain

This is on my list of must go to whenever I'm in Oxford. Places like Chipotle and etc can not compete with this place. The atmosphere is always nice and for is always amazing. A+ in my book.

Went on a Tuesday at 8:00 pm. You go through a line and order your meal from behind a counter, and your meal is prepared as you advance through the line. Had several interesting taco options. I chose a buffalo chicken taco and a asian pork toco. The chicken taco was spicy, as expected, and the pork had a sweet sauce. Both were outstanding. Self serve beverages and ate at one of the few vacant tables. Seemed to be a lot of Ole Miss students in the shop eating at the time of our visit. Located in the Square area of Oxford, and parking could be a problem at time, but worth the time.

I really like the way this restaurant is laid out. I love that you can see the food as they are preparing it. Like Subway for Tacos. You can choose from a variety of options and build as you go down the line and if you want more or less of one or each item as you build, you can simply say so, and the employees are happy to accommodate you. The quality of the food is top notch. The chips are the best chips I’ve ever had in my life. The salsa and cheese dip are just unbelievable! Employees are friendly. Always clean. Always fast. Always delicious. Worth the price.

Really interesting taco options with a variety of flavor profiles. My favorite is the Buffalo chicken, which I sometimes make into a salad. Service is always good.

The food was great. I got a burrito and filled it with rice, black bean, chicken, cheese. It was large but delicious.

Fresh and delicious with many vegetarian options. Braised tofu is a good option but can be hit or miss. Recently (2022) the tofu tastes far too sour and salty as if it had been marinated in brine. Not as good as it was in years past.

South Depot is an Oxford staple and for good reason. The food is always good, the service is quick despite the line that is almost always long, and the serving sizes are great.

The food is amazing. But today the lady at the register was pretty rude and short. I asked for her name and she didn’t respond.

Portions have gotten smaller. Apparently, shrinkflation has taken over. You lucky to get anything close to a spoonful of food. Very disappointing.

(4/7/2022) mid-afternoon lunch stop… had just arrived in Oxford for a couple days. Tacos sounded great! South Depot is located a block from The Square and was relatively empty on a Thursday afternoon. Big open space (2 storefronts combined) with wood floors and Oxford / Ole Miss centric decor. Chose one each of the Memphis BBQ Pork, the Korean Steak and the Fried Fish. Of these the Steak was my personal favorite for both flavor and fillings; the Pork was too “one-note for me and so wet that the double corn taco fell apart and the Fish was really dry. Sweet Tea was just right! 🙌 Reasonable prices and very filling - I’d certainly go back!

The food was just okay, I probably make better tacos than they do IMHO. The vibe works fine. They've got several TVs (which I never care for) with news and sports, interestingly this does not seem to be at all a Mexican restaurant from anything I can tell. It's mainly southern food with a few "asian" options, mostly in tortillas. The decor overall is clean and simple, I would have appreciated about five times as many pictures on the walls.

Stopped here late on a Saturday. It has a nice relaxed atmosphere and the service was friendly and efficient. The food was really tasty. Had the fried fish taco which was really nice - especially liked the jalapeños on it. Also had the queso and salsa - both really flavorful. This was a nice find a I’d definitely visit again.

Food was good, but asked to speak to a manager regarding allergies as we had never eaten here before and they didn't want to be bothered. Just told the young lady to tell us they would not guarantee anything or pull from the back. So the rest of our party ate and we found another restaurant to accommodate our allergy person.

Amazing food on the Square in Oxford. We had tacos, a bowl and a quesadilla and they were all amazing. The food is fresh made while you wait. You can add what you like to the bowls of meat, rice, beans and many other options. They also have a bar. It was Friday night before the football game and it was loud and crowded. The food was great!

Irs was great food i will go again and again.

My husband and I decided to take a short road trip and ended up in Oxford. We were told by a local to give y'all a try. We were wanting a margarita and some queso. After sitting for a few minutes and seeing people order a bowl we had to have one. Everything was amazing! Best experience we have had in a long time. We are already planning another visit with friends. Great job guys!!

Very delicious burrito, and the homemade queso is perfect. Staff was polite, and the restaurant very well maintained and cleaned. If you like good carnitas, especially in burritos, check them out! Only place I've found that's as good as Izzo's Illegal Burritos.

One of the best spots on the square for a quick bite. It can get super busy but if you go during a slow time it’s super quick. All of the ingredients are fresh. I haven’t ever found one thing to complain about this place.

I couldn't believe how busy it was whenever I walked in, there was a line almost to the door. But believe it or not I only stood in line for about 7 minutes before I was able to make my order. Every one of those store was super nice and they use delicious fresh ingredients made in the store not in some dingy factory five states away! I love the fact that they serve margaritas as well. If I wasn't working I definitely would have got one! I'll definitely be back to get the full effect of this awesome establishment!

I'm surprised I haven't written a review yet! We have been stopping in here for over a year, as we travel from Memphis to Calhoun City to visit the grandkids. Every time in the way home we get off highway 7 and drive over to the Square for some of the best custom burritos, quesadillas or nachos. The server does the work, and you tell them exactly what you want in your tortilla. It's always busy, and the service is always quick.

After you've been suitably appalled by the Confederate monument in front of the Oxford courthouse ("They died in a just and noble cause" -- not really), you can amble down Van Buren for lunch at this pleasant taco place. Cafeteria-style, friendly service, get your tray and have tacos and iced tea. The price is right, with lunch for two coming to just $20.

My wife and I had take out from this restaurant. Food was delicious with good size portions. Will return next time we visit Oxford.

I was unsatisfied with one of my orders at South Depot. I submitted a formal complaint with hopes that it can be prevented in the future because I truly love their food. The manager promptly responded. He explained in detail on how they will improve, taking my concerns very seriously. The entire situation was handled very professionally. I confidently believe in the quality of their food. I'm very pleased and will be returning. This just gives proof that they are the best around!

It was a very fresh take on a taco shop that allows you a larger variety of things to make yourself a custom taco or nachos which ever is your preference. I really enjoyed all the options of toppings available which is what makes the entire place different from any other local taco shop I have visited!

Great food, great service and reasonable prices My husband and I had a really enjoyable meal here - building our own burrito and burrito bowl for dinner. The house made tortilla chips were good too! The staff were super friendly, the ingredients tasted fresh, delicious and healthy and it was very reasonably priced.

Literally nothing else like it. Every trip to Oxford I have to refrain from coming here because I need to try something new but the FRIED TILAPIA!! You can’t get that on a burrito bowl anywhere else. I’m also convinced they have the best rice, black beans, and queso - although some people claim they are the same at every Mexican-ish restaurant. Just go try it. Can’t go wrong with any choice. <3 south depot!

One of my favorite "Mexican restaurants" in Oxford. Build your own salad, burrito, taco, nachos or choose from their suggested menu. Margaritas taste homemade. Same concept as Chipotle, but 100x better with a lot more toppings to choose from and it is actually fresh.
