Southern food is a hard one. This food is always compared to how some ones personal granny used to cook. Everyone does it their own special way. Take it or leave it. Southern Carm did a great job preparing every meal we experienced. Thanks.

Also managed by the same owner of the popular Reggae Shack located on University avenue in Gainesville Florida. Reggae shack is being operated out of this location also while the original location is undergoing maintenance or repairs, I believe. Looking for that Caribbean flavor in food? Tired of your normal American or Southern Staples? Then this is your place! Come and take the exotic flavors blends seasons and spices with just the right touch of southern hospitality! You will not be disappointed.

Reggae Shack is temporarily operating out of this building, I believe while they are renovating the University ave location. The food is so good. They are known for their ox tail, but they were out of that today. I had the Caribbean Chicken, which was a fried chicken in a Caribbean sauce. It comes with red beans and rice, cabbage, and plantains. My friends had the brown stew chicken, which they said was awesome as well. It comes with the same sides. The waitress was awesome and the food was served pretty quick. Can't go wrong, I'll definitely be back.

For now, it's the temporary spot for Reggae Shack that was on University in Gainesville....food still is delicious.

We visited the restaurant while visiting family and staying in a nearby hotel. The services and hospitality was outstanding. The food looked fantastic and the tasted even better.

Staff extremely friendly and helpful. Me, my husband and 2 young daughters visited for lunch. The food and service excellent. Prices are a little more expensive but worth it.

Great family dinner and the food.. yum! You get a lot for your money here. Soup , salad, entrees and dessert. The wait can be long but worth it .

We have had takeout food here a few times and it is generally very good. Eventually we will visit and eat there, and hope it is just as good.

I loved the atmosphere and the service. I had a Hot Chicken Sandwich and BBQ Chicken salad, and both items was delicious.

My wife and I went and had dinner at charms it was fantastic everything was hot, the chef even made us his loaded crab soup the best we ever had just a great place to dine in, thank you to the staff and chef for a fantastic dining experience. Check it out..

We had a great dinner and a wonderful surprise. Our waiter told me that they didn't have the crab soup I had ordered. At the end of our meal I was told my soup had been made, I was so happy!! Want to thank the whole staff, you made our night!!!

We were greeted by Pebbles who answered all our questions about the menu and was very helpful and welcoming. They had a lot of vegan and vegetarian options, but not a salad with a protein vegan or vegetarian option. They went above and beyond and were able to make me a buffalo salad with hot tempe instead of chicken. It took a bit longer than expected, but it was worth the wait. I'll definitely be back if I'm in Gainesville.

I'm Jill, Jay's girlfriend. I have eaten Southern food all my life. My mother and grandmother were very good cooks. But they could not make meatloaf near as gd as Southern Charm. The gravy is a dish unto itself. Cornbread excellent. Creative menu with lots of vegan options. Great music and ambience. Treat yourself to a delightful experience!

Definitely recommend! We had such a peaceful dinner at this restaurant. The food was well seasoned and tasted amazing! Plus they give great portion. I got the oxtails and my husband got the chicken and waffles which he enjoyed…Pebbles was a great waitress as well. She was very knowledgeable about the menu and very friendly. Would definitely visit again.

We were looking for something different than the usual chain restaurants. We showed up with eleven people and were greeted with great attitudes and very friendly service. The young man behind the counter came to our tables and went over the entire menu with us, covering all of the house specialties, both regular and vegan/vegetarian. Our party ranged all over the menu, from burgers to oxtail to shrimp and grits, and everywhere in between. We ordered eleven dinners with extra sides and all of our food was out within five minutes of each other. The timing was perfect. We ended up sharing food around the table to show off how good our meals were. I had the SCK Hot chicken sandwich. I've literally never had a better chicken sandwich. The chicken was crispy and perfectly seasoned. The SCK sauce that they put on there... Just wow. The fries had a Cajun/old bay flavor to them that complimented the sandwich perfectly. If I could give this place higher than five stars, I would. We drove almost 90 minutes to try this place out, and we will be back again.

10/10 recommend for a casual dine in with home cooked soul food! My husband and I stopped for dinner on our way through town and were not disappointed! We were seated right away, had the dining room to ourselves, had the most genuine server, the food was made fast, hot, and tasted absolutely amazing! I had fried chicken that was full of flavor and the breading was mouthwatering! My husband got the country fried bacon burger with fries, all of it was amazing!

the staff were all very friendly, but not overbearing. Knowledgeable about the menu, and sure to check if not positive on the allergens in a certain item, which I am always so appreciative of. I can't wait to visit agai

I'm vegan and I like to know the places I can get the best vegan junk food, and while I wouldn't call this junk, it's definitely now on my comfort food list.

I really love eating at Southern Charm Kitchen and even though we ordered takeout, it still tasted great and we will be eating it for several days! I for sure recommend Southern Charm!

OMG I had one of the best vegan southern comfort meals I’ve had in a long time! Lemon pepper vegan chicken wings, barbecue seitan, mashed potatoes and the best turnips and turn up greens ever! If you ever end up in Gainesville, Florida come to this place!

My daughter and I decided to sample the local vegan cuisine while on a scuba diving trip. The only disappointment we had was the reduced menu (thank you Covid). But the food was delicious... We both sampled the pentecostal fried chicken (vegan), black-eye peas and of course macaroni and cheese (vegan). Now the only thing I need is a copy of their gravy recipe. Definitely, worth a trip.

Glad they reopened, best southern cooking in town. Got the fried chicken, mashed potatoes, and cornbread...I'll drive to the east side of Gainesville more often for it.

My first time trying Southern Charm and it was better than expected. Friendly, hard working staff with a nice home feel. Try the lemonade its amazingly good.

Delicious food!! They are incredibly welcoming and attentive to you. You will not go wrong with anything on the menu, but I recommend trying the peas as a side!

After about a year of being closed they finally reopened! The food is just how I remembered it. Their also new things on the menu like the lemon pepper seitan wings. They were amazing! So glad to be able to start going back. Best place for vegetarian and meat eaters to eat southern food. I got the southern fried tofu and my boyfriend got the chicken and waffles.

Best comfort food in Gainesville by far.

I'm not from the south so dont have a lot of experience with southern food, but the portions were big and and the food tasted good. We went Sunday night and there was no one else there.

Me and my husband just visited this restaurant and was very impressed. The food was excellent! Flavorful and not over seasoned portion was great. Homemade drink raspberry Hibiscus Tea awesome!

The food was amazing and customer service was outstanding our host Eddie and the manager Adrian was extremely nice and helpful. We didn't get a chance to meet the cook but he or she did an amazing job.preparing our meals.We will be sure to stop by again on our next visit to Gainesville. Amazing Job you guys!!!

Just cuz I believe five stars are for perfection. I really enjoy my trips to Southern Charm. The folks are friendly, the prices are acceptable and the food can be fantastic. My first trip included an awesome concoction of black eyed peas and some fantastic mashed potatoes. Every trip has included the mashed potatoes. Second trip was great barbecue goat. Last trip was ridiculously delicious smothered pork chop. The only edible item that has left me sad was the Pentecostal Fried Chicken being a little over-fried on my first trip.

as a southern belle myself, I live for homemade southern food. The waitress was very bubbly and friendly. Fell in love with the atmosphere and the black eyed pea fritters were phenomenal, as well as the fried chicken and mac and cheese with collard greens. Haven't found a true southern place like this in a while! If i didn't live 3 hours away I'd make this place a regular sunday spot

The best sweet tea and lemonade I've had in Florida. Everybody can Not cook grits!. These were the best cheese grits I've had besides my Grandmother's! The lemon pepper fish dinner was very good and seasoned, but.... I was not prepared for the whole fish to come out on the plate looking at me. I will most definitely be back! The service was excellent! Eddy our waiter was knowledgable, attentive and had a great attitude, the Chef was very attentive and checking as well!

Stopped in for lunch and had the best service. Everything came out so fresh and quick, and of course was delicious! Yum!

The seafood fritters are spicy and flavorful, but my grits were a little dry and unevenly seasoned. The Pentecostal fried chicken was better and seems to be their specialty. However service was slow- they were understaffed and they were out of a fair portion of what was on the menu.

Not the best, but not the worst either. I ordered the chicken and waffles for dinner, and the chicken was cooked perfectly but it tasted like all the seasoning was on the breading and the meat itswlf hadn't been seasoned. The waffle was also a little to spongy for my taste and not crispy enough. My friend ordered her meal with the vegetarian Mac and cheese and we both thought it was AWFUL. I couldn't even swallow the bite I tried. The staff did give her a replacement side of something and very quickly which was great. We did order the sweet potato hush puppies for a starter. Though they are more fritters than hush puppies, they were really good! Warning though you only get three.

Food is spot on. My family is from northern Alabama, so believe me when I say I know my southern cuisine. Fried chicken is spot on and the staff was sweet and hospitable. Only gripe I had was the AC must have been off when I went, as it was easily 85 degrees in that place.

I wanted to love it but service was incredibly slow both times I've been there, and while some food was excellent (the fish I got was perfectly fried), the fritters I tried were dry and didn't come with any sauce and the vegan mac and cheese was bland. I asked the server if he could bring sauce that would work well with the fritters and be said they were out of the sauce he'd recommend.

Took me back to my childhood. Food was fresh and delicious. Everything hanging on the wall brought back wonderful happy memories.

We had the Goat and Catfish dinners. Awesome meal. Corn bread was 4 star and that's coming from a Mississippi Trucker. Love the environment, comfortable and sit-up for you to enjoy a meal. Not to big so quality food is what you will receive. Thanks for our experience.

I really want to like this place since Reggae Shack is one of my favorite restaurants but unfortunately the service and quality was pretty poor on our recent visit. We came on a Sunday afternoon. We had to find someone to seat us. They were out of ice, sweet tea and unsweet tea. The food and drinks took a very long time to get to us and we had ordered sides that didn't get to us until we were almost finished with our meals. The food was very delicious and worth the wait but I'd highly consider takeout next time.

I live this place and come often. This visit there was one line waitress during the lunch hour. She was sweet, calm, but clearly another wait staff person was needed. Leaving her alone was simply not right. She was absolutely valiant.
