I really enjoyed my afternoon tea and tower. The owners and staff are a delight. I definitely recommend this place.

My daughter and I had afternoon tea and it was excellent. The tea was a house blend and delicious. The food- chocolate scones, gumbo, and traditional tea sandwiches were all excellent. We have had tea in many places and this ranks among the best. Try it- you will not regret it.

We had another wonderful tea today. My top favorite was a savory cheese scone served on the tier with the sandwiches and desserts . Everything was delicious, even the Brunswick stew and I am not a fan of stews or soups! Would give 10 stars if that was a possibility.

I love this Tea Cafe. It's the best bang for your buck and such a quaint experience. It's the only place you can get soup with your tea meal. Every month, the chef crafts a unique menu based on seasonal flavors and features a different tea as well. Their menu for the month is always readily available on their IG. The decor and tea sets give the place such a lovely atmosphere. The staff are so attentive and hospitable. I had my birthday party tea there in June and they were very accommodating of my large group. I came the following month just to try the unique new menu for July. Whether you are trying to get your Bridgerton or just love a good afternoon tea, visit Southern Serenity Cafe. A grade A local Chesterfield must-visit spot. I recommend you make a reservation in advance especially for weekends. They may not have space for walk-ins all the time.

High tea was such a fun experience! I booked it as a surprise for my friend and it did not disappoint! The staff was extremely friendly, the decor is adorable, and the food was excellent. The owner is actually on site and was the one that made our meal and served us! You can tell she really cares about her business and her customers. I can't wait to come back!

For a local place to have a proper tea, this small business has done an excellent job. Inside the shop, one can forget it’s in a strip mall and they have done a wonderful job making it lovely and relaxing. The food was superb and the variety of teas delicious as well. Thank you for bringing a pleasant place to have tea in South Richmond! We will return!

First time coming and made a reservation online which required a $20 deposit which is applied to the bill upon check out. The atmosphere was whimsical and really helped set the mood. The food was immaculate and the attention to detail in each bite is really well crafted. The hostess Farrell was very polite, friendly and professional. The chef and owner is the one who brought out our food but even explained everything going on with each bite size morsel. My one request was decaf tea which we had Berry Compote & Golden Berry tea. Both tea options complimented the food which was summer inspired very nicely! It was a lovely lunch, and we are excited to return at a later date. Our favorites of the course was the Macadamia Nut Scone with Devonshire Cream and Peach Cobbler Bread Pudding bite! The hard part is you want to eat way more than just a bite! You can tell the staff, employees, and customers really care about the establishment and what it offers to the community. Tax and a 20% gratuity are automatically added to the bill. For two adults it came out to $55.60. A wonderful gem of a restaurant!

Love the afternoon tea service at this adorable tea house! I’ve also come for breakfast! The menu is always delicious and intriguing! I love the tea selections and the thoughtful attention to detail! The owners are delightfully welcoming and the staff is top tier!! I will go back again and again! Also, several of my friends are gluten free and they can accommodate various allergies given notice. Reservations are easy to book online! Tea-rrific place!!

Went on a Saturday morning with 3 adults and 5 kids, 2 of whom were toddlers. It was so lovely, and the cafe had little tea cups for the littles and a special menu for kids. The owner was so accommodating and responsive. She even purchased an extra high chair in advance of our visit. The girls all loved it so much, thank you for a beautiful and memorable brunch.

It's a lovely place. I had afternoon tea with my mother and it was a unique way to spend lunch together. Very laid back and calming place. Only critique is the floors could be cleaner.

They have gluten free options which were delicious! Small, quiet and cute. Staff was very helpful and friendly. Set menu made it so easy and paired perfectly with the tea. Will be back for sure.

I had a great experience here! Everything that came with afternoon tea was very tasty. I really liked my vegetarian substitutions. The poppy scone was to die for! All the baked goods were very moist. Plus the furniture and dishes were all so unique. The vibes are super comforting and lovely! And the staff are all so nice.

Wonderful tea room in Richmond. One of the best afternoon teas I have been to. Everything is homemade and delicious. Accommodated vegetarian diet with ease. The strawberry pecan scone was out of this world with fresh, homemade Devonshire cream. Look forward to going back soon.

Such a darling place! I took my sis here for afternoon tea and got the whole tier set for 2, and we had such a lovely time! Not only are the people who run this place so, so friendly, the food is absolutely delicious! Especially the scones. They are a MUST try. You won’t regret it!

There is a hidden jewel in Midlothian and I don't mean cubic zirconia. Southern Serenity Cafe & Tea Room is a delightful tasty treat tucked away in Midlothian Crossing Shopping Center. The owners have infused their space with old English charm, warmth and cheer. I haven't even gotten to the food yet! Sell your clothes, you're going to Heaven! This month's special tea is April in Paris - smooth with a hint of sweetness and a lovely bouquet. Top it with a drop of Devonshire Cream and a sugar cube, maybe two. Melt in your mouth strawberry scones, or vanilla, add a dollop of whipped cream and/or jam - that's just the beginning! A lovely cup of soup, Tuscan chicken, followed by delectable tea sandwiches and yummy dessert bites. Everything freshly made by the Chef who, by the way, is Cordon Bleu trained! I understand the menu changes - I'm already planning a return trip. They offer vegan and gluten free items - something for everyone! Make a reservation and treat yourself, and someone special, to a tea time delight. Cheers!

You don’t find much places like this. The environment is so friendly and relaxing. They embody southern hospitality. Their teas are LITERALLY amazing along with the food compliments. Once you go you will become a recurring customer!

I am almost hesitant to write this glowing review because I don't want to fight for reservations in the future! Everything from the tea, to the service, to the food and ambience blows you away. I am visiting for my 3rd time this weekend for Easter brunch and I can't think of a better way to spend a Saturday afternoon. A delightfully charming experience from beginning to end.

Had the afternoon tea, it was soo much food. It was priced a couple dollars higher than I would like. But there is no doubt that it is worth the price, for 2 adults and a toddler. The soups, the tier, hot tea on a rainy day. How much more of an experience can you ask for!! We’re definitely going back!

I've been making the rounds on places to have tea in Richmond and this one is far and away the winner! I've never really liked scones but this place made me change my mind! So light and delicious, it's great that you can either get the full tea tower or a smaller selection of things which I did today. I love that they don't bring a check, there is a register at the front so whenever you are ready to leave you head out so you feel like you can take all the time you like. Will be back soon!

Really great hospitality. We visited this place after finding a reservation on a Saturday. Highly recommend their Afternoon tea experience. Some of the nicest people. They made special accommodations since we're vegetarian, and made pimento and cheese, delicious avocado and apple sandwiches to sub their standard menu options.

Having tea at the Southern Serenity Cafe and Tea Room is a new family tradition. Best scones and quiche I've ever had; really all of the baked goods have exceptional flavor and texture. My niece says the gluten free options were really good; she ate everything they put in front of her which never happens - she's usually so picky! The owners are so friendly and accommodating; if you call at least 24 hours in advance they will create an amazing spread that meets your dietary needs and will leave you full and satisfied.

This was such a wonderful experience as first time guest. The Christmas teas were delicious. Great flavors, served in beautiful teapots and cups. We had delicious gingerbread and vanilla scones, followed by the most delicious beef stew and minestrone soup. ( we shared so we could taste it all! ) A beautifully prepared tiered server of decadent sandwiches, fruit, cheeses and desserts followed. The owners Al & Shena-Rae and staff were delightful and so attentive. Can’t wait to go back! Highly recommend you visit!

I stopped in once I got in town in Richmond. I only work in Richmond a few times during the month and I like to check out different places for breakfast. This place is very charming the customer service is top-notch. And the food was wonderful.

Gracious hostess greeted me with a smile & enthusiasm. Comfortable dining room arranged with Queen Anne tables & chairs for seating 2, 4, 6, 8, etc... tables are attractively set for guests. China Hutches, Cabinets, Credenzas, Sideboards throughout diningroom are staged with antique tea services, tea pots, and vintage China Sets. The gas log fireplace is opposite a large antique sofa flanked by two comfy high back antique upholstered chairs. 💛 the clock! Quick service for my lunch takeaway: DELICIOUS BLT, thick crisp bacon, fresh red 🍅 slices, delicate gourmet lettuce, mashed 🥑 spread plus herbed 🌿 cream cheese spread. The fresh fruit medley was the perfect side dish. Looking forward to Tea. 🫖🍰🥧🍮🎂🍪🥮🧁

An absolute delight! Just a wonderful experience, with an atmosphere as soon as you step inside. I enjoyed sharing a lunchtime pot of the Berry Compote tea with my sister and mother before we dined on tea sandwiches, loaded potato soup, and a mouth watering bacon, lettuce, tomato, avocado croissant. Excellent service and fresh ingredients. Definitely recommend this gem.

This small family-owned tea shop is so quaint and friendly. We ordered a Buddha’s dream green and white tea. It was really light and delightful. We then had the tomato soup and it was the best tomato soup I’ve ever had. Great place for a unique experience.

What a cute place for tea!! Highly recommend making a reservation as the building is small but cozy and the tea and food was excellent as many tea rooms are usually weak on one aspect. 11/10 would recommend the high tea!

Southern Serenity afternoon tea was amazing!!! we started off with a vanilla scone w/ devonshire cream and cherry jam. the scone was absolutely lovely! inside was nice and fluffy and crunchy sweet outside. our unlimited tea was peach flavored and yummy af! next was a lemon chicken soup with rice and veggies. the lemon left a light, refreshing after taste. lastly, we enjoyed a tower of various finger foods. the bottom tier was made up of tea sandwiches and stuffed sweet pepper w/ cream cheese and everything bagel seasoning. i'd have to say the best sandwich was the turkey, apple, and cheddar. the other 2 sandwiches were heriloom tomato and pesto, and cucumber. it was nice to know that the tomatoes came from the owner's garden. the middle tier held fruit, cheese, and a perfectly made shortbread cookie. top tier was filled with more deserts, including this creme puff filled with lemon curd and cherry, a tea cake, chocolate filled with caramel, and neapolitan candies. needless to say, i will definitely be back. the fact that they have been open only since 7/1 is astounding. i can't wait to try everything on the menu and experience more afternoon teas 😊

I almost passed this tea room up because it is in a strip mall. What a mistake that would have been. This tea room is absolutely delightful and surpasses other tea rooms in the area. The food was delicious and plentiful. The portions are generous and the tea includes a soup or salad which to me was substantial enough as a lunch. The service was impeccable and the staff were kind and highly attentive. The interior of the tea room was beautiful and the tea pots and dishes were lovely. What a wonderful experience!

First time at a tea room, and definitely won’t be my last! This place has amazing service and the best food and teas! I will be back!

From the moment I walked in, to the very second that I left I couldn’t help but smile ear to ear. The owner was a dream, so kind, hardworking and graceful. The staff was extremely sweet and made us feel so welcomed. I came in with my friend on my birthday and I’m so glad I did. It was such a memorable experience. We did the 3 course option with endless tea. The teas were excellent, the food was all made in house and was perfection. The sandwiches, soup and pastries were delicious. I will be coming and bringing my mom and sister, this place is too cute to not share with my loved ones.

The tea was seeped perfect. Definitely try the salad with the leisurely lunch tea. The citrus dressing is amazing. Only recommendation is ask about every item if you have food allergies due to no descriptions offered for some items. Peach jam was served. No indication that was what was going to be served and I am allergic. Did ask if there was nuts in the chicken salad. It is nut free and delicious. Will be visiting again.
