Stop taking to go orders at 8:30, but I called at 8:27 and the lady refused to take my order. She said it was “close enough” and was very rude. Will never give this establishment my money.

Crab cakes were a bit greasy and had shells. I heard great things but left underwhelmed.

What an amazing restaurant ! Huge selection of delicious meals, veggies grown fresh next door in a green house and beef raised on owners ranch locally . Super nice staff , super clean environment and surly is the essence of authentic Cajun food !! A must go !!!

Probably some of the best Cajun food around. And I'm a pro about Cajun food. Great atmosphere. Not too loud. They use fresh veggies from their hydroponic farm just next door. Amazing!

The service was absolutely stellar! My wife and I went there for our anniversary and it was as if the staff were just as happy as we were. The Food was every bit as good as the service. We were told about how they grow their own vegetables that tasted amazing. This was easily the best crab cake I've ever eaten. As a Lafayette Louisiana native that says a lot. I'm only disappointed i haven't found this restaurant sooner.

Wonderful place to meet with friends.

Fabulous seafood! I had the shrimp and grits. Hubby had the fried shrimp. We also sampled the fried alligator which was melt-in-your-mouth....so tender and delicious! The best part was visiting my long missed cousin and her family. Thank you for hosting us out of towners from So. IL.

First time here and have to say worth the drive. Food took a little longer than expected but the service was on point, checking on us and making sure we were ok, but if you are looking for the best gumbo you ever had just like Grandma made in her kitchen this is it.

Our group ate a pre-fixed menu. All was ok. A bit slow, since it was at lunch and they didn't have a separate area for us, so our group had to wait until tables were available. Their regular lunch crowd was very busy so our group was a very long time being fed. Got there at noon and some of us never got fed until 1:45. Food was tasty once we got it. We had made arrangements prior since this was a large tour group.

First time ever going to this delightful place. Grabbed an early lunch to beat the crowds because they always have crowds!! Crab cakes, grilled shrimp and vegetables, shrimp grits and seafood salads were ordered by my party. These are diabetes and cholesterol friendly (except the crab cakes!) and were extremely tasty. Food promptly came and our table was well attended. Definitely going back!

Absolutely amazing place! The owners come around and ask you how your meal is and cracks a few jokes. Great atmosphere, incredible food and the staff was just great! Would eat here everyday if I lived nearby, definitely check this place out the owner is a real gentleman. I would give this place 10 stars if I could, just incredible!!

This place was amazing. I am from Indiana and this was my first experience for southern food (gumbo etc) and it did not disappoint! Service was fantastic. Our waitress was very polite and kept our drinks topped off without even asking. She was very polite and gave us pointers for what food to try and pick out. The atmosphere was also very neat. The interior was very detailed and you can tell they pay attention to every single thing that goes into the restaurant. Oh and did I mention they grow their own vegetables right next door in the greenhouse?! How awesome is that! We walked over to take a few photos once we finished up with dinner. I cannot recommend this place enough if you are in the area!

Enjoyed a fantastic lunch with a friend at St. John Restaurant yesterday. We both had the lunch seafood special and everything was delicious. Plus the service was A+. Will definitely go back!

The owner always make sure he goes to visit each table. He is sweet and very friendly. Service sucks. We got charged for 3 items that we didn't order. But the food was great.

Our 1st time visiting The St. John and it definitely won't be our last! Every single item we ordered was so delicious. Our side salads that are made with vegetables from the hydroponic greenhouses on site were so fresh. Our waitress Brittany was the best! What topped off our evening was the owner Mr. Chip stopping by our table and again talking with us as we were leaving the restaurant to say thank you for coming!

We got the seafood platter for lunch and I was disappointed. The platter only had two oysters and three shrimp (shrimp are dirt cheap right now). The crab claws were mediocre at best. Pretty weak for $40. Service and atmosphere were good.

The reason I gave a 3 star on the food is I am not a fan of steak cooked sous vide and would not have ordered and paid $100 for 2 steaks had I known that (maybe add that note to your menu). There was not as much flavor as cooking it entirely on the grill. The salad was near wilting and they serve a very low quality margarine versus butter. As busy as they were, I would imagine they have other great items on the menu so I would try it again. Service was great, friendly staff and will definitely go back and try their seafood.

We were disappointed in our lunch. Food was average at best. Crab cake was creamy and not particularly hot. The chicken and sausage gumbo was watery and not very flavorful. The young woman who waited on us did a great job, but we wouldn't return based on the quality of the food.

Have been going to the St. John for years when they were at their old location. Food is always excellent and comes out hot even when you have a large party. The crab cakes are the best I’ve ever had and their gumbo is just like homemade. Chip and his staff have always gone the extra mile to make sure I’ve been a satisfied customer. This is my go to restaurant when I’m in St. Martinville.

I loved this place! My husband and I went on a day date and got the Bacon Cheeseburger based on another review. It is not on the menu but one of the best burgers I have ever had! Also, the sweet potato fries melt in your mouth they are so good. This restaurant is so cute! The service was great also. Highly recommend.

It was absolutely ridiculous. We got there. It took between 15 -20 minutes before we were even asked what we wanted to drink. Then we were the first to be asked what we wanted to eat. They forgot my meal I had to go to the kitchen to find out what happened to my food. They brought it out after everyone else ate. Service was horrible and the atmosphere was more like a public bar with people speaking at the top of there lungs. First time to be there. No temptation to go again

1st time to a favorite of locals. Crab cakes and crab au gratin were very good. Filet was ordered medium; half was rare but edible, the other half was literally raw. We waited about an hour for our food, wouldn't have been terrible to wait a few more minutes for them to cook the steak. Server was excellent, although when she noticed the raw steak I was surprised that she didn't offer to remove the charge from our bill. Fried eggplant and bread pudding were okay, not fabulous.

Everything was amazing here. For an appetizer we had the catfish bites. Our main meals were the large crab cakes, large fried shrimp platter, and veggies. For dessert we tried both bread puddings and they were great. Our waitress was super friendly and very attentive. Thank you!

Very good catfish and crab cakes. We also had the jumbo lump crabmeat Sauté was fresh and delicious. I recommend the Saint Martinsville restaurant. The service was great and friendly.

We went for a mid-week dinner and were immediately impressed with the hassle-free parking and prompt seating. The service staff was cordial and attentive from the door greeting to the settling of the check. All the food was fresh and flavorful with enough variety for any palate to include local Cajun cuisine. The barkeep didn't disappoint with a well-made cocktail. We also learned from one of the charming owners, who'd stopped table-side to chat, that the vegetables were grown in their own nearby growing facilities and local farm source, seasonal weather permitting. A very nice place to enjoy good food, good drinks in a welcoming environment, all with a nice little view of the bayou.

Everything is good but you have to try the crab cakes! Made like they should be with big pieces of lump crab. 3/16/23 I had a nice meal, shrimp dinner. Everything was good and the service was on point. I really love the hot yeast rolls with the honey butter they make. The gumbo is nice and rich. And the au gratin was very good and creamy. Love the scenery near the bayou and a great view from the window. Nice experience.

My wife and I rode our bikes here for lunch on a Sunday afternoon. It was about a two hour ride for us and honestly we were out for the ride not the destination. To our surprise the St. John Restaurant turned out to be a really great place. Fast friendly service and the food was outstanding!

We always have a great experience at St. John's. The crab cake is out of this world. And the chef does some amazing desserts. The white chocolate bread pudding was mouth watering. 🤤

I'd give it 10 stars if that was an option! From the atmosphere, the welcoming staff, to the food that will feed your soul! Hands down this place is well worth visiting. Even the owner is out bussing tables and greeting guests. The chef is a culinary genius! The attention to detail speaks of how much they care about their craft. Will absolutely be a frequent repeat for us.

Everything was absolutely wonderful from the food which was hot and fresh and so yummy. To the service which was wonderful even though they were super busy and had a packed house our drinks never ran low and we were not kept waiting for anything. It was our first visit and we will definitely be back it was worth every penny!!!

Our server was friendly and inviting. Our food was excellent. The steak I ordered was flavorful; well-seasoned, moist, and tender. The crab cakes were meaty and delicious. Family of 8, and our experience was fantastic. Our server Ben was exceptional. He had great energy and we felt like his only table, even though the room was full. Food was brilliant and delicious. We will absolutely be returning soon. Such a great place to be.

Great atmosphere and service. The Crab Boulettes were the best crab mixture I have ever had! Fried perfectly. Thcheese sticks were typical cheesesticks, but the marinara sauce was delicious! Garlicy and cheesy perfection. Our entrees of Crawfish Bisque and Shrimp pasta were very good. I would like a little more flavor in both. Bread pudding and pecan pie desserts were fantastic!

I am from the San Francisco bay area and have eaten at St John a few times when visiting my relatives in New Iberia, St Martinville and surrounding area. The food is always amazing. I tried the steak last weekend which was really really good. Congrats on winning Teche best steak in 2022. Cheers!

The food was great and the service was wonderful. Only complaint I spoke to the manager/owner about was having Starbucks coffee signs on the tables. I am a strong believer in supporting your local businesses & companies from WAY out of state! He told me that he did serve Community Coffee & showed me a sign on the wall. I told him that was good, but not good enough. Starbucks was not acceptable & as good as his restaurant was, that was very disappointing for him to promote Starbucks. I'm not sure I got the point across, but I certainly put my 50 cents worth of what I thought. I asked one of the waitresses about it & she said that they had talked to him about it, but got nowhere. She pointed him out to me & I did my best. He seems like a wonderful person, except for this. I asked him if he used any seasonings other than local. He proudly said no & pointed to the Tabasco, etc. I asked him one more time to please consider getting rid of the Starbucks & I hope that the next time we come back, there aren't seasonings from New York. So, obviously the Starbucks sales person did a good job, so the Community coffee sales team needs to step up & make a better offer or at least match it. Thank you for listening & if you feel the need to offer another brand, then at least make it Luzianne. Amen.

This is a quaint little restaurant with an inviting atmosphere and great menu options and wonderful staff. It looks like a repurposed building with a lot of history. All of the staff were welcoming and polite. The menu has the right balance of options while at the same time not being so big you don't know what to choose. We both had the ground rib eye filled with cheese and it was delicious, well seasons and a generous portion. The grilled veggies were very good but could have used a little more seasoning for my taste. It is on the river so I found the county view very relaxing. We will go back, no doubt. This would be a great spot to go with a few couples for a nice night out. (Guys - don't be fooled by the women's sign on the inside of the men's room door🤣😉).

Recommended to us by a local, St. John serves outstanding Cajun cuisine, especially seafood. My partner and I shared the fried alligator (appetizer) and the bronzed mahi mahi (entrée), which were not only delicious but also perfectly filling. The place is pretty big and popular. Service was a bit slow because we arrived during peak hour (around 7pm). Our dinner was great, nonetheless, and we'd gladly come back.
