We moved from Texas and would put this brisket up with the best! Great bark on the brisket and the ribs were amazing! We had the street corn and coleslaw which were full of flavor and did not disappoint. We are gluten sensitive and they were very kind letting us know what is safe and what is not. Huge portions on everything, come hungry. There is a brewery next store which wasn’t open but it would be a great addition for future visits!

The food was amazing. Meats were so full of flavor. Side dishes were unique and delicious. Just wish they were open more than 1 day a week.

Quite possibly the best. Barbecue in Grand rapids. Well I have not visited all of the barbecue restaurants and my wife is not a real big fan of barbecue, this place could make her a big fan of barbecue. Would highly recommend Stubburn BBQ.

Competition level wood-fired barbeque in a small family run restaurant. The brisket, pulled pork and sauce are outstanding. They are only open until they sell out so get there early. Update: I’ve been back many times in the last year and have tried everything on the menu. All sides and sauce are made in house and are all great. The smoked turkey (new this year) and ribs are also fantastic. Best bbq in West Michigan.

The BEST, I mean the VERY BEST bbq hands down. I lived in Houston and hands down better than any Texas bbq. Great family and this is truly a labor of love. I was hooked on the brisket and then I tried the pulled pork. Now, I have to get both. The only drawback is having to wait all week until they open on Sunday but, SO worth the wait!!!

Excellent smoked turkey! Their pulled pork and pulled chicken are also very good. Take out only. Open 12:00pm until 3:00pm unless sold out.

I found this place was right near me when searching for bbq in Google, so I went to check it out. The owner and staff were all very friendly, chatting with people in line and helping with orders, a very open atmosphere. The menu is small, but the food very good and you get quite a bit for the money compared to other bbq places I go. I ordered the pint of pulled pork, 1/2 lb brisket, and a pint of the cornbread mash. It was all very good! Meat was very moist and flavorful, especially when adding the bbq sauce. For what I ordered it came out to around $28, but could easily feed at least two adults and possibly a child. I’ll definitely be returning again.

LOVE this place! Mark & his family make the best bbq in Grand Rapids, hands down. Not to sweet, cooked just the right amount to still be juicy, and reminds me of the bbq I used to have while stationed in San Antonio in the 90s. Stop by on Sunday (the only day they’re open right now) & pick up some brisket or sit on their patio & enjoy the afternoon. (Their street corn is also amazing!)

Top rated BBQ reviews in Grand Rapids area caught our interest. Real nice family, making excellent BBQ. Super tender brisket, excellent ribs and pulled pork. Great corn bread, beans, and slaw. Homemade pickles. We left stuffed, with leftovers to take home. So good!!

The food is phenomenal, on top of that the service and atmosphere is hard to beat. It’s rare to come by a place so spectacular, yet still so humble and kind. fantastic job by stubburn bbq, would absolutely recommend!

I am now wrecked for any other barbeque. This is truly exceptional. The brisket melts in your mouth. The ribs are amazing. The sides are delicious. And it's one big happy family atmosphere as we all drool in line for our food! There's really no space to eat indoors, but it's really easy to run next door (and enjoy a beverage along with your meal). Seriously recommend this place!

Came in out of town to try Stubborn BBQ..Love the brisket !!! The baked beans I was wowed! Come and try this place out you will not be disappointed!

The line outside before they opened told me that this place was going to be good. The line moved quite quickly, and once I got inside to place my order, I was rewarded with the best BBQ I have ever had. The brisket was so tender with the perfect crust and defined smoke ring. The ribs were fall of the bone delicious, and the baked beans were to die for. Add to that the homemade sauce and WOW! You definitely have to try this place out. Get there early, as you do not want to miss out on the #1 BBQ place in town.

Clean environment, nice to have Lost Art Brewery nextdoor to drink a beer with our lunch, and the food was amazing!! BBQ sauce was perfect and the BBQ was perfectly smoked. Great variety of sodes. Would recommend to anyone.

There are many BBQ places in West Michigan and a few of them are five star. Of the five star places this one brings the five stars over to top with details in everything they do. Top of the line service. Friendly service that feels authentic, not read from a generic chain restaurant script. The atmosphere is relaxed yet quick paced with purpose. You feel that you are the purpose they are there. Then you get the food and what you thought was your favorite restaurant just got replaced by Stubburn. It’s an experience you will not forget. Very unique wood smoked flavor that penetrates the meat. I love sauces and there are good sauces provided, but the flavor of the meats kept me from indulging in the sauces. I have tried everything on the menu including all the sides and everything is great. Well worth the price.

This is an amazing BBQ joint. The brisket was juicy, tender and had a delicious bark, the ribs were extraordinary. The staff are friendly. Do yourself a favor and wait in that line at noon on Sunday. I look forward to the day that they are able to be open all week.

Brisket, pork, and ribs are INSANE!

The prices are really reasonable. Any barbecue fan knows how expensive good barbecue can be. It's a small place with a counter you order at, and then wait for your food. The service was pretty slow. There was a line already when we got there 15 minutes after opening, and it wasn't until after another 30 minutes before we got our food (probably 15 minutes waiting in line, and then 15 minutes waiting for them to package up our food). The wait is worth it though, everything we tried was delicious. Brisket, ribs, pulled pork sandwich, corn bread and mac and cheese. Get there early because they will run out of stuff (one of the daily specials was already gone 45 minutes after they opened). The people are really friendly and they already have plenty of friends and regulars coming in that they greet really warmly

Best pulled pork and brisket I've had hands down!

I really wanted to give this a 5 star. But the only complaint I have is the high prices for the small amount of food you get. In comparison to other BBQ places in town this place is on the higher end. Food was delicious, however still felt hungry. I appreciate though that we now have a BBQ place on the west side!

A Master of his craft. The brisket was moist in the center, a very defined smoke ring around the outside and a delicate, crispy exterior. The smoky flavor was distinct, but not over-powering. Even Johnny Triggs would be impressed.

Where do I start? Walking up to the order counter you are greeted by a warm bubbly cashier who’s excited to take your order. The whole staff was extremely excited to see everyone ordering food and were very kind and polite. As someone who generally turns my nose up to BBQ in the past due to not so palatable recipes by other cooks I was very optimistic about the food here. My optimism was rewarded ten fold. The food here is simply amazing. The brisket melts in your mouth and the ribs just fall off the bone. The in house sauce is the star of the show that takes the already amazing flavors to new heights. But let’s not forget the side dishes. The side dishes are just as delightful as the main meats. The baked beans were stellar and the Mac n’cheese is the best I’ve ever had. The best part about the food here is while you get full there is no heavy feeling. Simply put Stubburn BBQ is the best BBQ joint in west Michigan and a welcome addition to the Walker community. Definitely will be returning for more!
